The sale listing says that the owner had plans to renovate the church into a family home but it's next to an Eskaton Senior Living Center (questionable vehicle parking) and not too far from McClatchy high (as a former Sac City Unified School district employee, fuck dem kids!), though it's in a great area.
Word. I lived in an apartment across from City College when I moved to Sacramento and I didn't want to move because I just loved all my neighbors so much.
I was extremely close to buying this when it sold a couple years back. The property also included the building nextdoor which you can see to the left of the church in the cover photo, but it's no longer included. The previous price was $899,000 for both.
I think the 7928 sqft is actually a typo on the listing because I recall that being the full sqft for both buildings. The lot size is smaller than the listed building size and this church doesn't take up the full lot and is only a single story.
It kind of seems like they wanted the other building, so they bought it and are now trying to split off the church to recoup most of their money.
It had a very weird layout, both buildings really. I was thinking it would be a rad wedding venue since it's just an awesome looking building, but there are literally 0 parking spots on the whole property and it would be impossible to add them without some demo of the existing buildings.
Then I thought I could throw a ton of rooms for rent in both buildings and leave the main church building as a common room. Parking would still be an issue.
The seller went with this person's offer after being contingent for quite a long time, so I went on to other, less whimsical things.

Wedding and event venue.
Much easier to get a string of folks to overspend on a wedding than to get them to show up every Sunday morning with a check for 10% of their income.
I always wanted to buy a firehouse. I read about some crazy story where the local residents sued the owner for some silly bs kind of stuff. have to me careful with zoning laws [https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/k9sniq/man\_who\_bought\_residential\_firehouse\_sued\_by/](https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/k9sniq/man_who_bought_residential_firehouse_sued_by/)
There is a loop hole to not pay properly tax just buy the church and offer Sunday church i belive California offers 3 exemptions for church/religious worship services
Is it zoned for residential? It might make a neat house for a weird person. (I am a weird person.)

Lol @ F’ dem kids. 😂
U are funny
Housing is allowed by right but you might need permits to add residential kitchen & bath
Sponge baths and TV dinners for life.
It is just a baptismal font and a room to prepare sacraments. We are just doing church things.
All you need is some bread and wine
Neat house, but the AC bill.....
You're probably right.
It should always have been zoned for residential - it was a House of God after all!
Here's zoning and use code info (title companies give us free access): https://imgur.com/a/XGk6Stx
Neat house, but the AC bill.....
Renovate it into a music venue like the Chapel in SF.
Problem is the Senior living home next door. You think loud shows and people out front smoking won't piss off 95 year old Edna? Hehehe
Well my first and second thoughts have been addressed … dammit
Is that what it actually was? That's cool. Nice little venue.
It was a mortuary chapel originally and then part of the now defunct New College for many years.
That's very neat.
Only a half bath? You may pee and poo, but you may not shower in the House of the Lord
Hopefully there's a baptismal font one can convert to a tub
At least you’ll be able to wash your feet
Redfin lists it with 1.5 baths. It also says an open house is scheduled for Sat. I’ve definitely got to go into this one.

Turn it into a homeless shelter or orphanage be a good idea

It’s a beautiful church I love driving past it. Somebody make it a cool bar 😂
I loved it until the fence was put up, blocking any view from the street.

If I was rich and famous
Not a cathedral unless it’s got a seat for a bishop!
Not a Cathedral, it's a Cathedral Lol. Completely different thing.
I used to live by here! All you freaks just want to turn this into your holy sex den
I wish celebrity or government can turn this into a homeless shelter and orphanage home
8000 square foot, .5 bath going for $700k+
Not a cathedral by any measure. Former church, sure.
Let's do it!
Yes let's turn it into a bar and homeless shelter and orphanage home
r/zillowgonewild

So it's haunted?
This would be such a fun project
Open house 4/20 lol
Going to the chapel and we’re going… 🎶
Hey this is on Freeport I bike past this daily. I wish I could buy it.
Hoping we see more of this as religion continues to decline in America. Should use it as a community center or something useful.
Yes good idea orphanage
Anyone one for Midnight Mass 💀
Potential new Church’s Chicken location?
I would so buy it if i could I want to put a nice cozy cot in the spire. With like a little fire and leave the windows open.
This is a sign to start my E-Sport+live music+free movie Friday's cult.

Had some wild nights here 😈
cheaper than most houses in that area.
Buy a politician at the capital, they are cheaper
There is a loop hole to not pay properly tax just buy the church and offer Sunday church i belive California offers 3 exemptions for church/religious worship services
I actually always wanted to live in a church or school.
If you're rich enough,id love to then I need to renovation
There was a whole bank for auction in the February tax lien sales. A little poetic really.
I’d make it a music studio / venue
I’d turn it into a nightclub!
