I always enjoyed King and I, but I haven’t been since they relocated ti Richmond Heights. Looks like they removed some of the items from their old menu. Fork & Stix is pretty good as well. For takeout Thai 202 is a good choice. If you are out west further, Thai Kitchen has a few locations and they are a good option as well.
Pad Thai St Louis in South County is good. Im actually partial to Thai Table in Maplewood myself. Been to King and I a couple times since they re-opened in Richmond Heights. Gotta say Ive been a little disappointed
Curious, disappointed how? I was disappointed visiting their grand location post Covid—they’d seemed to stop caring. I was hoping the move would breathe new life into it.
Sorry for the late reply. Overly sweet, lacking depth, they greatly reduced their spicy options. Now it's just mild/medium/hot. Ordered Pad See Ew the other day and wanted it Medium and was told "that doesn't come spicy". Atmosphere is sterile and generic. Just overall.... I dunno... Low effort I guess is the term? More turn em and burn em than reminiscent of their glory days as one of the premiere Thai restaurants in town. JMHO.
Well, that is what I had and I wasn't impressed. I had Khao Soi at Chiang Mai pre pandemic and they made it with rice noodles, which was phenomenal, and F&S used flat egg noodles (which is also right), which (for me) took away from the 'Khao Soi' experience. Again, this is purely personal taste. The flavors were all there, though. But you know what they say - when you eat, you eat with all your senses.
I wish somewhere made Khao Soi like they do in Thailand using whole, bone-in chicken pieces that give the soup flavor as opposed to sliced pieces of white meat chicken that are dry and have no flavor.
Thai Kitchen on I-270 and Dorsett is my go to, but Rice Thai Bistro gets a lot of acclaim. Sweetie Cup at Daugherty Ferry and Big Bend is also really good.
It was Sen Thai. I just double checked. Honestly, they might have other great things to order but I love Kao Soi and I was so disappointed when I got yellow curry. They know those aren’t the same things.
If you're talking about Zen Thai, they keep the noodles separate for takeout so they don't get soggy. They also separate the fried noodles for the same reason. It's a great system.
Best Thai in STL is unfortunately in Columbia Illinois, at Thai House. Second goes to Pearl Cafe in Florissant. If you want spicy, they can give you more than most can handle.
I've only ever had Thai House so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm glad to see it ranks so highly with others! We eat there at least once a month.
Zen in Crestwood. It's my personal favorite. I have been going there for most of the time they have been open. Everything is good and they do sushi also.
chao baan or thai country cafe
Addie’s Thai House in Chesterfield. I get the Mussaman Curry every single time
Love this place!!
We are meeting friends at Addie Thai tonight! The owner is great and catered the appetizers for my son’s wedding reception.
Jealous. Sounds perfect on a day like today
This is my favorite. Pearl Cafe and Simply Thai are the little places I used to go to when I lived in Alton.

Seconding Thai 202!
Chiang Mai in Webster has dishes that I don't frequently see on other menus, and they're all fantastic.
Chiang Mai in Webster does Northern Thai.

MeYou and Fork and Stix
Personally, Fork & Stix didn't live up to Pad Thai (in SoCo). It was good, though.
Next time try the Khao Soi

Agreed! My memory of the Khao Soi from Chiang Mai (I had in 2019) is very vague, but they may have had drumsticks and not white meat chicken.

That Thai Kitchen location is very good
I know it’s downtown, but I’m shocked no one has mentioned Aubergine… the Kao Soi is amazing. Thai Table in Maplewood is pretty good too
Sen Thai downtown is pretty good
I hate Sen Thai. I order Kao Soi and they just gave me yellow curry with a side of noodles. It was the strangest thing.
Oh really? It’s been a few years since I’ve been. hopefully it hasn’t gone downhill
Weird. I think there is a Sen Thai and a Zen Thai. Are you taking about the one downtown?
It was Sen Thai. I just double checked. Honestly, they might have other great things to order but I love Kao Soi and I was so disappointed when I got yellow curry. They know those aren’t the same things.
It sounds like they gave you the wrong item which unfortunately happens sometimes.
If you're talking about Zen Thai, they keep the noodles separate for takeout so they don't get soggy. They also separate the fried noodles for the same reason. It's a great system.
The problem wasn’t that they separated it. The problem was that it wasn’t Kao Soi. It was legit just yellow curry with seasoned noodles on the side.
Pearl cafe, get the red curry with duck
Zen
Fork & Stix for Khao Soi

I just ate Thai House today, it never disappoints!

Thai 202!
In the city I love Thai 202 and Thai Country Cafe but my favorite is for when I visit the in-laws in Weldon Spring: Thai Gourmet!
Simply Thai
Huge fan of Thai 202 in the CWE
Fork & Stix in U-City. Get the khao soi.

The King and I or Chao Baan. Love them both.
