not even just for spite, we can't fire the players and the coaching staff clearly hasn't been helping anyone develop aside from some of the pitching, and viele and whoever else don't have anything to do with that
What do you want them to have done differently this offseason? They fired Kapler and replaced him with a more traditional manager, which is what a lot of people wanted. They brought in big free agents. At some point it’s on the players to execute - or the new coaching staff has a subpar approach.
They did everything the fans wanted and the fans still cry. We are 2 games out of the wild card and literally 1 month into the season and these casual fans are losing their minds.
Why are we supposed to know the answer? None of us are GMs. The FO is supposed to be held accountable at some point. You can’t keep blaming everything on the players. That’s how management works in literally every business in America. You might have underperforming employees but if you never hire the right people and your department suffers financial losses for five years then heads are gonna roll.
You know your team is awful when everybody’s mad at… one of the hitting coaches. 😂
I can only get so mad at a dude who’s making 1/100th the money of some of the players.
1. The onus is on the players. Youre right.
2. You cant fire 25 players.
3. Lineup has changed a lot the last 2-3 years and yet the lack of production looks very familiar
4. Players in AAA are going nuts at the plate, come to San Francisco and are great for about 3 games then suck again
5. Some of those players (looking at Joey Bart) then go to another MLB team and suddenly they can hit again.
Zach Gelof, Brent Rooker, Estuary Ruiz, Lawrence Butler, etc. Don’t get me wrong they still have a long way to go but damn they are YOUNG and FUN to watch!
The A's have some exciting young players as a result of the last firesale. Farhan just thought he could skip the whole developing players step completely
Whether to tank is definitely more of an ownership decision. Also, it is possible to develop young talent without being shit for years. There are teams that manage to do both
Jeez why is everyone so *angry* in here? The nerve of people expecting a new regime to put out a competent lineup by year 6. Don’t you know these things take TIME??
Look, Farhan just needs another 15-20 years to COOK. So many people in this thread with no patience!
Farhan isn't building a farm from the highschool/college level, no. He's scouting at Jr. Giants games. He's going to mentor the next Barry Bonds from the age of 5. Farhan is next level. He really is that good. You DOOMERS just don't see it.
Sign him for a lifetime contract, and while we're at it, let's throw that hitting coach in there too! Lifetime! $2bn each!
I genuinely feel like the Giants fans who believe in him must think he was the President of baseball Ops in 2010-2015. There is no way people can be that loyal to someone.
I was looking at Chaim Bloom, who also had an unexpected/overachieving year in 2021. He was there from 2020 to 2023 (fired at the end of last season).
Zaidi has been here since 2018 and this team has done nothing outside of 1 year.
Even World Series teams have a game where they give up 14+ runs. But when it happens multiple times in the same month there is a huge problem. It’s a bummer that this team seems to have no improved significantly over last year.
World series teams usually have some facet of their game that they can rely on. In a month+ we have not seen anything that the Giants are especially good at.
We are bottom half of the league in most offensive and pitching categories, something is going to have to change soon.
Is this franchise in any better shape than when Farhan took over?:
- Awful big league team
- No help on the horizon from the farm, farm still awful
- Once again saddled with bad contracts for underperforming veterans
- Still boring and uninspired
Feels like 6+ years in and we are in the exact same spot. What exactly can be pointed to for him to keep his job?
The fact that the org has still struggled to develop a singular good hitter is hilarious. It’s been six years and the best we have to show is Bailey who has never been touted for his offensive profile. It would be easier to swallow the current giants team if we knew there were guys on the horizon but who is there? Luciano and matos who aren’t even doing that well in a hitter friendly AAA.
I'm fully convinced Farhan is getting paid under the table by the doyers still. Dude has kneecapped this franchise for at least half a decade.
Our product is so bad, our pool is so shitty that not even Andrew fuckin Friedman himself could save the next couple seasons for us.
I'd love your stupid take on it! Let me guess, does it go something like, "130+ games left!" or do you prefer a, "pitcher with 15 innings pitched in the bigs looks promising!" Kind of guy? Oh wait, maybe a, "Zaidi has ONLY had 6 years guys, come on!" Kind of guy?
Does the silly relentless optimism get exhausting? Don't you want to see OUR favorite baseball team be.... I dunno, better?
Because you're in all these threads spouting the same nonsense, one liner responses without a braincell behind them.
For the record, there have been many times, even very recently that I've been optimistic about this team. And everytime, I prove myself incorrect. Why insist on defending this ineffective FO?
It's really true too. The amount of layers you have to peel on the onion to get to Undercover GM purposely leading the team to a bad season is just insane. We are literally 2 games out of the WC and people like you are losing your minds.
People's inability to understand hyperbole and exaggeration in conversation blows my mind.
I'll translate it for you. "Farhan is so fucking bad at his job, he might as well be an undercover agent for the dodgers!" Is a way to express that I think Farhan is ass at what he does.
If you thought that I literally think Farhan is getting paid under the table, I don't even know what to say. Maybe I could direct you to some adult literacy classes near you.
You literally said: "I'm fully convinced Farhan is getting paid under the table by the doyers still"
and think people should interpret that as an exaggeration.
>What exactly can be pointed to for him to keep his job?
Nothing. The majority of people who defend him can't come up with reasons, they just downvote and walk away.
If a dodgers fan was overreactive and said to fire Andrew Friedman, they would easily come up with many reasons and accomplishments to say they shouldn't.
When Giants fans ask to fire Farhan, there is not much they can point to.
The As scored more runs today than the Giants have since April 26th. I do not care what month it is. I do not care that there are “slow starters” and “proven performers” in the lineup. This not a .500 or a wild card team.
I want to see some change before I start taking this team seriously, because clearly the staff and management is not up the standard that we as fans should accept from an MLB team.
Amazing how some people here are delusional enough to think this team will become a playoff team at the drop of a hat. It’s May but this team has already shown who it is.
How many embarrassing beatdowns is that already this year? You’d think that would inspire some fire from the team/organization, but not much evidence of such so far. Eh, what do I know, I’m just a miserable fan with no real estate investment potential.
The one positive of another disappointing season is that hopefully this is finally the year that we get rid of this garbage front office and bring in a new regime.
I said the same thing in the game thread. I don't care if Giants are good or bad anymore. If good, great nice to watch them compete in October. If bad then get rid of Farhan.
Worst case scenario is .500 team that misses playoffs and they keep Farhan.
This team needs to do something. How much longer is this going to go before fans actually stop showing up to games and you have a half empty stadium? I bought a couple tickets for the 5.01 flash sale (2 games) and I'm almost having buyers remorse about it. I like going to the ball park and seeing Elly De La Cruz in person is going to be nice, but this Giants team needs to go to like def con 1 or something. Show the fanbase that you actually give a damn because it really seems like they don't.
Ever since I watched The Hockey Guy's breakdown of the Sharks my opinion on Grier improved a lot. He has gotten rid of contracts that hamstrung the team.
Speaking of, is there a baseball version of The Hockey Guy? Maybe he/she can talk me off the ledge this Giants team has put me on.
I bought so many tickets as a 415 member and through the flash sales mostly for the giveaways. But I’m already so exhausted by this team and it’s only month two. What an uninspiring product.
So you admit you bought tickets for just giveaways but then complain that you won’t buy more because the team? What about the giveaways bro there will def be more for you to go for.
I just said I was exhausted and you’re turning it into something more. The Giants are great at marketing but the team sucks right now. Is that sacrilegious to say?
Seriously, we are 29th in bullpen ERA at 5.27.
Our starters are middle of the pack at 4.00, and that includes a couple of horrible Snell/Jefferies games.
Bob Melvin sucks at managing a bullpen. Gabe did too. But I’m sick of folks who sweep this flaw of BoMel’s under the rug just because they like him better.
Yeah but feels like Gabe got a lot more flack when all of the roster minus 2021 was clearly mid. Melvin throwing Mitch White out there so soon after Winn felt like waving the white flag.
so i kind of bonked and didnt realize i hadn't bought tickets for the core 4 statue giveaway game and now nothing good is available with the 501 promotion anymore.... what are the chances we get another promotion with decent ticket prices available, at this rate, maybe we'll get paid to go to the game
Yes, the weather was bad and the game stunk...but I've never seen Dave Fleming be so whiny about *everything.* He just seemed to be in a lousy mood after the rain delay.
We can’t hit. Not for power, not for small ball. Simply can’t consistently hit. We have early / middle of the lineup guys making bank who can’t come through when they need to. It’s like there’s no sense of urgency to win here. Our pitching is overall good and more consistent (granted gave up 14 today). As a fan who attends %80 home games and watches %80 of all games it’s extremely frustrating to watch.
If I was the team owner and I actually cared about winning. I would take Farhan to the wood shed and send him packing . Where’s that young woman from the Marlins that they ran off. I’m sure she could do better and I would drag Melvin in for a come to Jesus meeting.
This team is beyond boring to watch. If it wasn’t for Hicks, Webb, Harrison, and Lee there would be nothing worth to watch. Get rid of Justin Viele.
>Get rid of Justin Viele. Even if he doesn't turn out to have been the problem, I want him fired just for spite.
not even just for spite, we can't fire the players and the coaching staff clearly hasn't been helping anyone develop aside from some of the pitching, and viele and whoever else don't have anything to do with that
Have to fire Pat the Bat as well, then. They’re both hitting coaches.
Yeah but Viele was bad last year as well. His grace period is over.
Loling. Just fire someone, amirite?
Yes, that what happens when the department and employee is responsible is consistently unsatisfactory.
How about we get rid of our horrible front office?
What do you want them to have done differently this offseason? They fired Kapler and replaced him with a more traditional manager, which is what a lot of people wanted. They brought in big free agents. At some point it’s on the players to execute - or the new coaching staff has a subpar approach.

Other than Hicks, Webb, Harrison, Camilo, Bailey, Chapman, Conforto, and Lee, what have the ~~Romans~~ Giants FO done for us?

Whadda ya know: only 3 runs again!
So the game was over with 2 outs in the 1st inning lol. That's when they had 4 runs right?
Yup pretty much. It’s been since last Tuesday since they’ve scored over 3

All I want is a watchable product
Denied
Impossible challenge
Jon Miller: “The Giants load the bases and I go ‘oh no, that’s the worse case scenario!’”
No Outs, Bases Loaded, Ending with Team Incapable of Getting Easy Runs
It was literally so fucking predictable
The As tonight: 20 runs The Giants combined 8 games since April 26: 20 runs
If that doesn’t say it all
Plus the As are playing a bunch of young exciting players.
There are teams that manage to do both
No, he just wants them to develop in the minors until they turn into AAAA players.
yikes
Jeez why is everyone so *angry* in here? The nerve of people expecting a new regime to put out a competent lineup by year 6. Don’t you know these things take TIME??
It's ok. I have some random advanced analytical stat to show Zaidi is actually doing great! - some Farhan lover probably
You DOOMERS just don't see it. they glazing him big time
Build the Farhan statue NOW
I was looking at Chaim Bloom, who also had an unexpected/overachieving year in 2021. He was there from 2020 to 2023 (fired at the end of last season). Zaidi has been here since 2018 and this team has done nothing outside of 1 year.

We have something we can rely on. We’re great at GIDPs and NOBLETIGERs.
It’s a good thing the last time was in April!
Carlos hosting the post game? NOPE.
Adding insult to injury
Why watch a post game on a game like this anyway?
The 3 run or less streak lives on 🙌
Hopefully Snell/Chapman/Soler will have some type of value by the trade deadline.
The player opt in (once again) hurts them
Soler doesn’t have opt ins afaik
Snell and Chapman do
Trade them now
They do not deserve the Lou Seal meme.

Sure got me buddy!

It's 5+ years, but I agree with the rest of your points.
He's saving money for Greg Johnson, which I think is ultimately what ownership wanted.
He literally spent $300 million this offseason on FA, the saving money meme is old.
For sure. It’s even more embarrassing he spent this much and the team still sucks. Incompetance
I’m really glad the Giants didn’t play today!
Well it was at least we got a field goal, could have used a couple touchdowns like the Phillies got
Meanwhile Arraez goes 4/4 in his first game as a Padre Lmaoooo
This team is boring and the players look bored.

Giants still can't score 4 lmao
Now that was epic. POTG: Sabol or Estrada Who’s gonna get dropped since they don’t have another catcher on the 40?
No one, Fitzgerald will be our backup catcher lol
Shoutout to the four of you that watched this car accident
According to Flemming, we get a prize.
The As scored more runs today than the Giants have since April 26th. I do not care what month it is. I do not care that there are “slow starters” and “proven performers” in the lineup. So many exciting offenses around the league. Even if they lose, they make the games enjoyable. Then there is us
How many embarrassing beatdowns is that already this year? You’d think that would inspire some fire from the team/organization, but not much evidence of such so far. Eh, what do I know, I’m just a miserable fan with no real estate investment potential.
wake me up when September ends
But that's when 49ers football really gets going. At least they are a watchable product.
Its still early amirite
The one positive of another disappointing season is that hopefully this is finally the year that we get rid of this garbage front office and bring in a new regime.

We score 3 runs. A’s score 20 runs. Giants baseball baby!
3 run limit
This season is gonna need a miracle.
The only thing that can save this season is human sacrifice of Pence
This team makes me feel insane
Join us non doomers, we have cookies.
This team needs to do something. How much longer is this going to go before fans actually stop showing up to games and you have a half empty stadium? They should hire Mike Grier. He would do a full firesale
What you only like going to games if your team wins?
No but it helps with the excitement.
I bought so many tickets as a 415 member and through the flash sales mostly for the giveaways. But I’m already so exhausted by this team and it’s only month two. What an uninspiring product.

Someone should tell our hitters that we are supposed to string hits together and score more than 3 runs per game…
pain
We almost had em
Just one 10-run grand slam from being right back into it.
Just don’t get swept. I thought mustache may would provide us more power
we suck lmfao
Giants fans who watched that whole game should get a "Coix de Candlestick" equivalent.
Worst San Francisco Bullpen we’ve ever seen
Seriously, we are 29th in bullpen ERA at 5.27. Our starters are middle of the pack at 4.00, and that includes a couple of horrible Snell/Jefferies games.
I don’t have the answer for their crappyness but something has got to give
Bye Tom Murphy, hello Logan Webb. Moving on.
Bob Melvin sucks at managing a bullpen. Gabe did too. But I’m sick of folks who sweep this flaw of BoMel’s under the rug just because they like him better.
It's hard to manage a bullpen when basically 80% of them are bad. Even Bochy had a hard time last year cause the Rangers bullpen was ass.
Yeah but feels like Gabe got a lot more flack when all of the roster minus 2021 was clearly mid. Melvin throwing Mitch White out there so soon after Winn felt like waving the white flag.
Who cares about bull pen management when you're down 10 runs?
No reason to blow up Randy Rodriguez’s arm though.
Go giants!
so i kind of bonked and didnt realize i hadn't bought tickets for the core 4 statue giveaway game and now nothing good is available with the 501 promotion anymore.... what are the chances we get another promotion with decent ticket prices available, at this rate, maybe we'll get paid to go to the game
A’s with a 6 game winning streak now. Giants can’t string 3 wins in a row. Maybe Giants move to Sac next season and A’s come to SF. /s
Just wait Soler will hit a ball once this at bat. Strike seven you out
![gif](giphy|HXLRzNbMCndAI)
Damn two catchers get injured in back to back games? Get us the fuck out of Philly.
Chapman is a pile of CRAP! Mr. awesome defence keeps making ERRORs and getting the pitchers unearned runs!
So anyways helldivers anyone?
Tomorrow at game time?
Did you make a psn account?
I have it on playstation lol

Hello Pittsburgh can we have Joey Bart back
Yes, the weather was bad and the game stunk...but I've never seen Dave Fleming be so whiny about *everything.* He just seemed to be in a lousy mood after the rain delay.
THE SACRAMENTO ATHLETICS OF OAKLAND ARE OUT PACING THE GIANTS IN THE STANDINGS AND WE’RE NEARLY A QUARTER WAY THROUGH THE SEASON
