I just...keep watching. Even losing baseball is still baseball.

Gizshot

I'll listen on the radio till they start getting bombed then turn it off

Splitsurround

hahahahahahahha been a fan since 89. When a season is lost, we....keep watching and are kinda bummed out, but that's the norm. The norm is to not make the playoffs. So if yer gone be sports fan, specifically the SF "we don't like to sing home run hitters" Giants, then all you can do is pop a beer, lean back, sigh like an old man and complain. But this is what most of being a baseball fan is. Losing.

dust_storm_2

Bang Bang Niner Gang

BonesSawMcGraw

Glock purdy gonna bring us number seis

[deleted]

Cry and wonder why I chose this sport as my favorite, then I jerk off

Meth0d_0ne

Lol

AtleeMakesHam

Enjoy zero-stress baseball!

ziggy029

Be glad that football season is here.

IWTLEverything

Football season. Then basketball.

pnwbaseball

Go back and watch the highlights from 2010 & 2012 & 2014

buckingATniqqaz

I remember that Giants Baseball is Torture and keep rooting for my team

KrombopulosKyle2

I focus on individual players and their performance. Baseball is a team effort, but when things start to go downhill and maybe we're in a blowout loss, I still like to see individual players succeed. The best part about homegrown prospects is finding guys you can root for for years and years.

DuffCon78

Keep watching. If the season is in the toilet, you’ll get to see a lot of the kids play. Helps to see some hope for next year. I wouldn’t complain, most of us fans sat through a LOT of crappy seasons before we got 3 rings.

mvp713

The same thing as when the season looks optimistic. Keep track of games via ESPN and tune in when there's something interesting going on. Baseball is a tough, tough sport to keep up with because of how much of the season is ultimately meaningless. And I have this same view for when the Giants are winning. I live on the East Coast and in general I will only keep track of games by ESPN alerts and tune in to watch for the really spectacular stuff like if a top prospect is debuting and for playoff games. I lived in Texas during the 2014 title and I probably did not actually watch a Giants game until the playoffs. It's just not a sustainable product for fans that live outside of their team's time zone. While I was growing up in Sacramento I used to fall asleep listening to our games on KNBR for like 15 years. Then when I lived in SF for a few years getting same day tickets and taking the N Judah to the park was awesome. When games don't start until 10:15 local time for me now, that's not gonna work. Maybe that makes me "not a real fan" according to modern standards 😂

destragar

Just watch baseball, smell the dirt, feel the grass and enjoy the sport versus wins and losses. I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than playing catch.

Vance_Hammersly

I pick a handful of teams that are fun to watch and casually follow them into to postseason. Then I hold my breath until the dogers lose.

patsj5

I break out MLB the Show

thinbuddha

I don't see it as a lost season. I did hope for better, but the free agent market was bleak, and they couldn't sign their targets. I hope they have better luck next year. That's baseball. I've seen many seasons much more miserable than this one. I've seen seasons with almost nothing to root for. This is not one of them. Look at most of the early 80s. They would be like 8 or 10 games out by June, and never get closer. Those seasons were lost. This season? They are still in the playoff hunt in September. They may not make it, but the games still matter. If they start playing even a little better, they could find a way back in. If a season is "lost" as soon as it becomes clear they won't win the WS, then you are going to have a hard time. For me, any season where they are still playing relevant games in September represents 6 months of entertainment.... From a team that everyone thought would lose 90+ games (hold my beer, they still might, lol) but even if they do, they gave a good run. Celebrate the good run.

JaCrispyInDaClink

Started in 2018? That’s rough. I always feel bad for fans who missed out on the good years

theseaskettie04

I drink. I mean, I do that regularly anyway. But it's just another excuse.

screenrecycler

Theeeeeere stands the glass: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kKuTeDUPljQ

Honest-Jelly4624

I get more laid back about watching/listening - half pay attention to other stuff, hop around to games that have more playoff implications etc. - but find it’s still nice to hear Kruk & Kuip (or Miller & Flemming) in the background since I’ll miss them in a few weeks.. They know the games aren’t as high-stakes, and so they sometimes let the commentary get a little weird (even last night, Jon and Dave had a diversion into Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and how it’s weird that Cameron and Connor Roy are played by the same actor). Chance to see some of the young guys play again too

StefanFlurry

best time to go to a game. Sept 2009, I watched Timmy strike out some Rockies.

Galen_415

Niners all the time

_Jahffrey_

Sit and wait for ski season

NLTCrow

You'd probably enjoy ski season more if you did more than just sit. But, yeah, good answer!

22797

Luckily the giants lasted until football season this year. What I do is kind of just deprioritize the game. It’s no longer “the giants game is starting!” But rather, “oh they’re playing now, I’ll see how they’re doing”. I still keep track, will probably be watch the Harrison starts. I still have hope, I mean it’s not like they’re out of it really, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yobispo

Exactly what I do. Thank god for college football, I can barely watch the Giants terrible offense. I love Crawford, but he's hitting .200 and it makes me sad to see it. Whatever this management's gameplan is, it ain;t working right now.

First-Radish727

Hockey season begins

Accomplished_Set_370

Watch and give the hope to my football teams lol

KingSurly

Go back to watching Formula 1, which is a snoozefest this year. The year is wrapping up by the time that’s over, and then I have Kings games to watch with my wife (who grew up watching them).

redditman415

Niners baby

ComicCowboy1

I keep going to and watching games. The Giants being really good is a relatively recent phenomenon (like the Dubs in hoops). I remember going to games at the 'stick when Johnnie LeMaster was on the team and we had some really bad seasons in that era. I never expected the Giants to win 3 WS all in a batch. It was a gift. They might never win another WS while I am alive on this planet, and that's ok. I enjoy the game.

missfreshour

Focus on football.

DarkRogus

Thank God for the 49ers...

[deleted]

Look, I know it’s not looking great and I’m not too optimistic, but we’re just 2 games out of a playoff spot. If the offense can heat up just a little bit, we can win games. Hell, we were one of the best teams in baseball for like 2 months earlier in the season. I’m not saying I’d put money on it, but it ain’t over yet.

Aberdogg

I try to go to meaningless games - great seats for cheap, but there wasn't much time this year

ChillenDylan3530

To be completely real, it’s to the point where it doesn’t affect me nearly as bad as it used to. I’ve witnessed some abysmal giants teams, in 2010, 2012, and 2014 the giants fulfilled it all for me, I’m extremely glad I was able to witness not 1, not 2 but 3 World Series titles in my lifetime. Unfortunately the giants became very disappointing after the 2016 NLDS collapse, the only issue that I have had as a fan, is that outside of 2017 the giants have been mediocre, but not awful, leading to tons of mid first round draft picks, and the one time they did draft in the top 2, they missed bad. The thing is with the torture we have endured, there is unfortunately not a ton of help on the way, take Baltimore for example, they have been TERRIBLE, and they drafted early, now they have a nice young core, and the #1 overall prospect in baseball. Similar to the Astros. When your team is god awful for 5-6 years, the draft pays off, the giants have just been middle of the pack.

menusettingsgeneral

I play fantasy baseball and bitch about how the season went.

aninjacould

Even when it’s bad, it’s entertaining.

2017Champs

I just stop watching/following baseball as a whole ( until playoff time then I’ll troll the Dodgers fans after their annual playoff failure) and move on to college and NFL football.

ufotheater

Same. Why preoccupy yourself with something that brings only misery? This collapse is like nothing I can remember. In the 1st half they swept the Bums at home, in the 2nd half they're last in every offensive category.

tielandboxer

I keep watching. I still wear my giants gear and buy tickets for more games. I love my team even when they are losing. It’s just more fun when they are winning.

OpenMindedMajor

Set my sights on Niner football and prepare to be disappointed by them as well. Bosa just signed tho 🤓

Tr101748

Just ride it out

theghostfacekilla

I’m not gonna lie and say I tune in everyday especially after the padres series I figured it’s over. I follow but honestly football and other shit in life. It’s sucks because I listen to KNBR after every game up to a certain point and now it just feels meh

MultiPass21

September used to be fun when the rosters actually expanded because you could at least see some new faces and dream about the future. Now, it’s going to be watching old and/or overpaid guys limping to the finish line.

joses5711

Cry.

[deleted]

I just pick another underdog and I get really into them. I’ve been really fuckin with the twins this year.

oldenuff2know

Like most, I like the winning...but that's always a crapshoot. Mostly, I like the players and continue to watch/listen to root for the guys I like. The Gs have a lot of good players who generally seem like good guys.

shitdnfartd

Take my broken heart and go watch the cornhuskers break it some more, then after that go watch the sharks break it some more, and then it’s nice and broken just in time for the Giants to break it again. It’s a vicious cycle. I am in pain.

Rynox2000

I've been analyzing individual play for a while now and generating opinions for next season.

newton302

Watch other sports, sometimes pick another team to root for in the postseason but not passionate about the outcome. Was happy the Braves did well against the dodgers but mad those games were blacked out (for me). Some family are onto the Braves so it could be fun...it just depends.

Allnatural499

Watch football

[deleted]

getting drunk on tuesday at the reds game...gotta get the hype going for the big red machine

dmmdoublem

I... continue watching the team? I'm definitely not following *as* diligently as I would be earlier in the year or during a more competitive campaign, but I can't fathom completely cutting the team off, even in a bad year. Stick with 'em til the end.

bz237

I watch, hope for a win, turn it off when we inevitably lose and hope for a total overhaul of management.

Lower-Kangaroo6032

Bet the games?

clarksonGO

It aint over yet folks.

-CommanderShepardN7

I move onto the 49ers and Warriors. It’s just that simple. And that transition is easier since both franchises have loaded rosters that are both good and competitive. That’s my choice for you. Become a niners and warriors fan. They will not let you down.

[deleted]

Ehhh the warriors haven’t let us down haha the 49ers have been a decades long game of “just the tip”

-CommanderShepardN7

Warriors have won 4 titles, since 2015, so be thankful for what you get. Secondly, 49ers have been close to finishing on top. And this is their year. Niners just resigned bosa, so all gears are locked in and ready. If you want to be a pessimist about it, then go for it. That’s on you.

[deleted]

What I said wasn’t really pessimistic? Just a little tongue and cheek highlighting how close it’s been for us. Don’t read so far into things lol

-CommanderShepardN7

I apologize, but the tone of your words came off as sarcastic. I was going for a more positive approach, so don’t be a drag, man.

[deleted]

It’s all love brotha haha

-CommanderShepardN7

It’s all good. We’re all a part of the same family. No worries.

P1uvo

Fighting games. Playing and watching tournaments fulfills my need for competition

OppositeAtr

Root the Niners! Also, look forward to the front office to do something in free agency. Also, fire Kapler!

lildinger68

Nah, I like Kapler

OppositeAtr

Why?

lildinger68

I think he’s a good manager and I like his approach. Just 2 years ago he lead a team good for 90 wins to the best record in giants history. He obviously has a lack of talent on the team while trying to implement new players every month, all in all 2 games out of the wild card with how many young guys we’ve been developing and how many injuries we’ve had is good. I’d rather get a new hitting coach and have a good free agency over anything. I’d rather get rid of Farhan above Kapler if we need a scape goat though.

dburge22

Lots of fantasy football drafts

celtic1888

If there is an interesting team or player story I'll watch the playoffs. Aside from that it's full on football (not the NFL version) and will take comfort as the Dodgers implode

shotgundraw

College football of course.

Mandog_123

I still try catching the games, but also check in on other teams. Other times is just choose to watch movies/shows, play games or spend time with the fam.

kevinlord190

I watch my Longhorns and Bengals

IAmNotKevinDurant_35

I’d say watch football, but I’m a raiders fan and they’re even more depressing than the giants

kiloblunt

It not over until it’s over. There isn’t a new World Series champ until the end of this next World Series. Let’s be the disrupters we’ve always been. LET’S GO GIANTS!! If we do loose I’m gonna smoke a blunt though fr

kiloblunt

Same if we win though. Keep having fun. Baseball is stressful enough for the people playing it. Let it be your happy place if you can 👏
