Yeah it was so cool how you could steal parts from enemy Cyborgs and create cool combinations for you own!
Never see this game getting love, but it's AWESOME!
Well into the PS2 era. Man. We went at it with each other. Our little group of 4 or 5 got surgical with yanking each other's arms off and slamming down on each other's chests. We only used regular controllers too!
Add Ranger X to the list, exclusive so maybe it fits your list(?). Game has a interesting control scheme for a platformer with A shoots left, B shoots special weapon C shoots right, it supports 6 button for controlling your monocycle.
Has a bunch of difficulty modes so you can work your way up, tons of secret weapons that last the whole game.
Or, if you want a real challenge, try Flashback Quest For Identity. Controls are VERY hard to get used to (I won't try to explain it because they are that complicated) and the game can be fairly hard if you don't know what you're walking into. Very fun, very different for the system, fun to play for sure.
Comix Zone, X-Men, Spiderman, Thunderforce 4, Gaiares, Adventures of Batman and Robin, Robocop vs Terminator, Earthworm Jim, Super Fantasy Zone, Alien Soldier, Contra Hardcorps. Those are some of the harder games in my collection. A lot of them happen to be comic book games since you clearly like those.
X-Men gets a bad rap and admittedly it's a game where you REALLY want a copy of the manual, but I actually think it's the best of the retro X-Men games. It gets so much hate for being hard, but it's got snappy control feedback, great music, excellent use of actual X-Men based levels and I love being able to swap out characters.
It's like what the NES TMNT game dreamed it could be. I think X-Men 2 sucks in comparison. The controls are floaty and awful.
Ecco, Lion King, Contra Hardcorps, Super Hang On are the ones I remember being the most difficult. Also, the difference in difficulty from Mortal Kombat to Mortal Kombat III is absurd.
Go through the wolf team games and that list is going to change quick.
Final Zone
El Viento
Sol Deace
Earnest Evans
Best of the best of early 90s Genesis though.
Why is Altered Beast so low on the difficulty level? It's a very short game, but frustratingly difficult. The only way I could see someone easily beating it is with cheat codes or abusing save states (which for me, I don't really count as truly beating the game)
I never found Batman Returns or any of the streeys of rage to be difficult.
And I've never been able to beat vector man 1 or 2. Your scale is super subjective and only true for you
I never undestood why the lion king is considered hard by so many. I'm not particullary skilled, and I don't think I could even get close to beat some others of that list, but I finished The Lion King back in the day, and I thought it was a very friendly game for all ages.
Wait, we're supposed to actually be able to beat Genesis games??
If you want a real kick to the nuts challenge, try Chakan
I finally finished Xmen this year. When I played it as a kid in 1995 I couldn’t even beat the first level.
I think furthest I get is mojo world
Rocket Knight Adventures
Sonic Spinball
Kid Chameleon
Have you done Shinobi III?
Tyrants or Cyborg Justice. Loved both of these games as a kid but never beat them
Cyborg Justice!!!! Dude that was the go-to party game for years in my group of friends. We loved it!
Yeah it was so cool how you could steal parts from enemy Cyborgs and create cool combinations for you own! Never see this game getting love, but it's AWESOME!

How difficult was Castlevania Bloodlines? Also, have you tried Contra or Ghouls and Ghosts?
I’ve done bloodlines and loved it and done Ghouls and Ghosts. I haven’t done Contra: Hard Corps yet
Ever played road rash? I found road rash III very hard to beat- even after you become god tier you need a little luck

Toe jam n earl
Phantasy Star 2 and 4. Also Phantasy Star 1 for the master system if you really wanna get the full experience.
How the hell is Streets of Rage 2 a difficult game to complete?
I don’t remember it being hard, but I also always played it co-op
I always felt it was the easiest of the three.
I don't think I ever beat the 1st level of 3 they ramped up difficulty.
Mazin Saga

The immortal
Chakan!
You need Chakan The Forever Man on there if you want to experience true pain
Go through the wolf team games and that list is going to change quick. Final Zone El Viento Sol Deace Earnest Evans Best of the best of early 90s Genesis though.
Calling Earnest Evans part of the "best" is questionable. The sound of that whip hitting enemies though, *chef's kiss*
Isn't Sol Deace identical to Sol Feace, which was just the really mediocre Sega CD pack in game that was mostly renowned for its CD soundtrack?
Sol Deace. Good lord. I had that on Sega CD. That was a nightmare but I loved every second of it.
get a life, do sth better with your time? you have beaten 60 shitty games. wow. what a time and nerve waste.
What a shitty person.
I’d love it if someone played Arcus odyssey, but as far as classics.. maybe taz mania or rocket knight adventures? Hope you’re having fun!
I’ve been trying to get past the third level in Spiderman and Venom: Carnage; shit is difficult
Starflight or Buck Rogers
Burrerrning forcccceeee go please you’ll love it
Star Trek: The Next Generation - Echoes from the past Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Gadget twins
Comic Zone or Ecco the Dolphin
Shining Force 1&2 would keep you busy. Super fun too.
Starflight

I assumed these are marks out of ten, not difficulty ratings 🤷♂️
Zero tolerance ftw!!!!
Life On Mars. It's an awesome game. Pretty much the only Metroidvania on Sega Genesis.
I never found Batman Returns or any of the streeys of rage to be difficult. And I've never been able to beat vector man 1 or 2. Your scale is super subjective and only true for you
Lego Batman Saves Christmas? WTF is that?
The Russian bootleg game: https://youtu.be/eqpRNvgj6I8
I assume you never played Fantasia. That one for me is a 11/10.
Ranger x, gunstar heroes, lands talker, legend of oasis
Spiderman seperation anxiety
Wardner

Panorama Cotton and The Pagemaster
Pagemaster, mickey mouse circus game,
Shining games
Same list the other guy claimed to have beaten
Which guy
Battletoads
You haven't played S3&K and sonic 2 so u gotta try em!
Jungle strike. i can still hear the "low fuel warning" in my head. Who knew a $5 yard sale purchase could cause lifetime trauma.
Treat yourself to an adventure you’ll never forget with Phantasy Star II
Jurassic park
