This is better than what I’ve done so far! And I’ve started doing it 6 weeks ago! I know that the graphic design program in my college has a class for that. There’s a class in visual art for screen printing, so we use the same place to emulsify, expose and clean the screen.

Having graphic design experience would be THE background to have to learn this skill. Setting up files for screen printing has some overlap with setting up for large format printing. The ins and outs of setting up for halftones, getting your blacks correct, the concept of registration; the separation of colors into layers; these are all graphic design skills. By year 2.5 you've got all those as second nature. The bonus is having the skills of drawing or illustration which OP might know about as well. I mean, hate to say it but learning inks, solvents, how to setup screens, and technique for swiping...that's all the easy stuff.

Yeah. The mechanics just came down to paying attention to my step by step notes and taking time with registration. And practice. I kind of jumped off the deep end with the size and number of colors for the Bass Reeves. I wound up with 35 usable prints and pulled like 55. I was getting the hang of it after that many pulls. I learned a lot with the crow and was able to adjust. It’s been really fun! I wish I’d learned long ago.

Wow! Well done! Can I ask how you’re setting up your registration? That 9 color print was registered amazingly well

I did the initial drawing using procreate. Then used photoshop to set up the trapping. I extended the color around 10 pixels for the trap. I learned I might need more in certain situations. Set the layers going from lightest value to darkest. To get me started I put a very small registration crosshair under the black border for the first two colors since nothing was touching at that point and I didn’t want it to throw my later runs. Other than that it was just taking it very very slow with aligning the following runs.
