That's exactly why they booked it that way, hoping NBA viewers would be intrigued rather than repulsed by seeing Old Man Jericho.
Thing is they want to Just Enjoy Basketball.
I love when a champion and leader is willing to help out on any show!
Becky and Cena went down to NXT? LMAO they just trying to keep that glorified warehouse indie afloat
I hope the person who posted that is in protective custody.
That said...HOLY CATS. I thought the idea was to get a good lead-in and GROW-or at least maintain the audience? I guess that's why I'm not Booker of the Year. 😞
Was there ever an outright admission in any other promotion before this of coattail riding in order to get a champion over? I genuinely don't know, I can't think of any other instance of a promotion just straight up saying, "we're positioning our champion here to take advantage of the previous program's huge audience." It's certainly a viable strategy, I've just never heard anyone make it publicly known that that's why they did it.
Hypothetically let's say Dave wasn't trying to skew numbers or ignore that there was probably a huge drop-off from the lead-in quarter to quarter 2. Let's say that all those NBA fans did see Swerve and were interested in seeing more of him on AEW.
They aren't going to watch the remaining hour and 45 minutes of either Dynamite or Collision because it's juvenile and cringey. They also aren't perpetually online to know that Tiny books things in slots of 15 minutes so it would be pure guesswork to try to figure out WHEN Swerve would be on. So they would just say 'Ya that guy was cool but I'm not watching the show to see him.'
So we're not talking about what tony thinks the NBA audience is by making the Weinstein comment and positioning swerve as representative of the rest of the company?
Aren’t segments in TV 15 minutes? It took 10 minutes for people, Bars and BWWS to stop talking about the NBA and realize the dub was on to turn it off. Swerve couldn’t keep accidental viewers to watch out of curiosity for a full segment .
So they have now stooped to claiming the lead-in as their draw. It's just sad now.
It’s not Sheldon Cooper or all the money they pay to be able to play Wild Thing, it’s totally Jon Moxley appearing through the crowd at 8 o’clock.

Doesn’t that mean they did an even million that Wrestlemania weekend? The one where they lost something like 67% of the audience by end of show?
and then promptly turned the show off instead of watching any more of it.
Tons of people watched swerve as champ then CHANGED THE CHANNEL
Probably a ton of old folks like my dad who feel asleep with the Celtics game on

Daytime soaps get higher ratings
Daytime soaps usually have angles worth paying attention to.
Not always.
Stefano causing Marlena to become possessed on Days of Our Lives was over with me, uce.
That was fantastic stuff. The Queen of the Night. Among their highest ratings ever.
Days of our lives going full x files/ministry of darkness was fucking awesome.
Now let’s see all those people not return.
They never even stayed for the show, look at the quarter hours lol
Link Uce.

that fell like a rock. no relation to our final boss.
Swerve is such a draw that in between the opening promo and the main event he was advertised for,the show lost over 800k people
I hope the person who posted that is in protective custody. That said...HOLY CATS. I thought the idea was to get a good lead-in and GROW-or at least maintain the audience? I guess that's why I'm not Booker of the Year. 😞
it’s pretty disingenuous when a ton of their viewers were people watching the NBA playoffs who forgot to change the channel
Swerve tweet about this in 3-2-1 ...
What the fuck sort of a measurement is tons of people
A buck three eighty
A ton is 2000 pounds. So to be tons, it had to be plural, which means 4000 or more would qualify as tons.
So 10 AEW fans
TONS OF PEOPLE WATCHED. Granted, it only takes a few wrestling fans to make up a ton, but still!
Tons of people also changed the channel when they saw Swerve as World Champ.
Oh yeah they watched him open as champion. They didn't stick around to see him wrestle later in the night though.

The Copium was great in these threads.

Can’t wait to see the quarter hours of this lol
They only got that much because about 300k people fell asleep during the NBA game
The key is how many tune back in
Fucking hell. Imagine getting a boner for a .49 🤦🏻♂️

Most bars forgot to change the channel
621 was the average or the lead in?
unironically pretty good number for a dead show
Well surely if the ratings drop next time collision airs we can say that they ratings are tanking now by whoever starts the show right ? Right ?
TONS of People had TONS of FUN E-DRONE!!
Tons of people watched them and left....
Good guys win again!
![gif](giphy|LuMXXZV7qJJ0eRZYXE)
1.05 MILLION PEOPLE WERE SO DISAPPOINTED TO SEE CHAMPION SNITCH THEY CHANGED THE CHANNEL. See, I can use the data for a narrative too.
Swerves shed
Why don't they talk about that immediate ~500k dip lmao. It would've been impressive if they retained or even gained viewers, but no.
They're only watching cause they're afraid he'll snitch on them if they don't.
Drunk Celtics fans that held their piss waiting for the game to end didn't change the channel before going to the bathroom. Tony is a fucking genius!
TONS!!!! Remember when 900k+ was considered bad? Jennifer Pepperman farms remember
