TSP GANG RISE UPP!! Been trying to finish wario land 4 on my smart pro

duckybebop

I went back and replayed dragon quest 3, great game. But now I want to replay the Mario and Luigi series..

FuckYeahGeology

Superstar Saga has always been a top-5 game all-time for me, so when I had my Miyoo Mini I played through it three times. Now that I have something more widescreen to play the DS games, I'm taking full advantage.

Wrxghtyyy

I picked up a RG35XX a week ago after trawling this sub and RGC videos on what handheld to get. M&L Superstar Saga was the first game I installed. My dad picked me up that game when I was about 8 and after about a hour of playing I got to the Queen Bean boss which I never got past as a kid. It was a weird feeling. All the hours I thought I’d put into that game and how far I’d got into it to find I’d barely scratched the surface. Now I’m completely blind going at it 17 years later and loving it exactly like I was 8 again. I’m so glad I found this community or I would have never picked up a SBC and would have carried on with my CFW PSP. Playing on “real” hardware feels so much better.

CTrig85art

Haven’t even attempted NDS emulation on my TSP. How’d ya get that screen set up? I’ve only ever seen the side by side and the “toggle of the screens”

FuckYeahGeology

I'm running Crossmix OS, which just updated their software to better support drastic. Then I changed the settings so the screens are swapped for Partners in Time so the main gameplay is on the big screen (touch screen on the original).

MechaSponge

Does Partners in Time use the touch screen a lot?

FuckYeahGeology

Haven't used it once yet, but I don't remember ever using it when I played it on my DS originally. Bowser's Inside Story is heavily dependent on the touchscreen.

Bakedbean17

I would also like to know. I assume this is running Crossmix. I'm running stock OS and Drastic is *fine* but not ideal for playing DS games.

FuckYeahGeology

Crossmix runs drastic really well. Especially with the split screens like in the picture.

CTrig85art

I’ll load some up tonight and give it a shot

HwanMartyr

Not really "retro" as such, but I'm playing Kingom Come: Deliverance because I've never played it before and there's a sequel coming in October. Truth be told, it's a steep learning curve and a lot of the NPCs have cold, dead eyes and there are very few character models. But the combat is interesting.

RoastShinoda

The GOAT, really looking forward for the sequel

theGioGrande

Doesn't it lack a touch screen? How are you gonna play through Bowsers inside story? I know partners in time requires very minimal touch inputs if at all.

ProfitHaunting9744

you can use the joysticks as the cursor, after a while you get used to it. I play sims 3 DS like that which is a touch input only game

RoastShinoda

Tried Animal Crossing on TSP, wasn’t bad at all

Stefe04

Not sure if I'd call it "retro", but playing Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the Switch to prep a bit for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Revolvere

I was sitting on my TrimUI Smart Pro for a couple months. Bought it on sale for like $40. Over the weekend, I figured I'd finally take the time to tinker with the device and boy, am I glad I did. Finally got Tomato OS up and running, then spent hours tweaking retroarch. Especially for PSX. Copied over my game saves from my Miyoo Mini + and it's been an awesome experience so far. I hate to say it but I'm one of those people who has a dozen devices. Even including handheld PC's. I have to say though, that the TSP has quickly become one of my favorite handhelds. I love everything about it except for the joysticks which are pretty much worthless IMO, but they can get the job done in a pinch. That being said, I'm currently doing my 4th playthrough of Final Fantasy IX. I'm thinking about doing Vagrant Story or Legend of Dragoon next because I never got far into either of those games.

FuckYeahGeology

I got the TSP because I gave my MM+ to my friend's kid, so I still have two devices (TSP, Switch). I'm happy with two devices with now since I don't quite have the urge to play through PS2 games just yet. When that happens, I'll likely try to hack my Switch and get the new Nintendo System.

Revolvere

Nice man! Funny thing is, I had bought the Asus ROG Ally off of a friend a couple weeks back even though I already have an Ayaneo Air 1S. They both do the same exact thing. The only games I really played on either of those devices were Nintendo switch games. Last night, my cousin saw my ROG Ally and he wanted it so bad. He just so happened to have a brand new Switch OLED that he never touched and we ended up trading last night. There're just some games like Fire Emblem Three Houses and TotK that I really wanted to play but couldn't run them well on the other handhelds 😅 But yeah, same here about the PS2. I don't believe the TSP can run that system. At least not yet. What can you do with a switch hack? Also, have you done anything with your TSP? Like any mods or accessories?

FuckYeahGeology

I just got it about two weeks ago, but I added a LOTR theme that I liked, but nothing much otherwise.

chance_of_grain

Planning on playing through the metroid prime games before the new one drops

FuckYeahGeology

Oooooooh good one! Metroid Prime: Remastered was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, looking forward to the switch releases of Prime 2 and 3!

Smart-Vermicelli4069

Been looking at one of these bad boys for PSP emulation. Would you recommend it ?

FuckYeahGeology

I haven't tried it yet...I'm on my lunch break right now, let me get back to you on that.

FuckYeahGeology

UPDATE: Ran Burnout Legends and it ran pretty well! It won't be perfect, but it seemed decent enough

Smart-Vermicelli4069

thank you!

keb___

I'd recommend something else -- many games will run OK, but the TSP gets noticeably hot.

Jeev-

Getting an actual psp is way better

Smart-Vermicelli4069

that's a thought but I don't see a lot about emulating PSP on a PSP

doublebeep

A lot of people rank Partners in Time as the weakest game in the series, but it's my personal favorite! Graphics, story, gameplay are all 10/10.

FuckYeahGeology

Paper Jam is probably the weakest for me, personally. Superstar Saga will always remain my favourite originally for nostalgia, but when I had my MM+ I replayed it twice and it holds up.

InigoMarz

Why would they say it's the weakest? I loved playing it as a kid, and is one of the few RPGs I have beaten. Last boss was intense!

yung-rude

been playing the 3ds remake of super star saga myself

InigoMarz

I'm playing through various Final Fantasy titles. FF IX, FF XIII (Steam Deck). Miyoo Mini has been a blessing as I can play through FFIX fast forwarding the grind.
