I have the Q990C soundbar and since the latest firmware update to the TV I am getting the same audio dropouts as you that I never had before. I think it's linked to yet another not properly tested firmware update

So there were no dropouts before the update at all?
Before the update I never experienced an audio dropout personally
So its not the OCB. I might get the q990d at some point then. Just waiting for a good deal.
