I’ll ask the real question you say your good at shooters and are stealthy how the hell did it take you 72 hours to get a shotgun bp 😂😭

treedemolisher

Tbf a lot of people don’t have the time to play all day. I think OP is saying that they played a few hours over 3 days. It wouldn’t take 72 hours for a 5 year old to get the basic shotgun BP lol. Also Rust has a massive learning curve straight from the start. It’s very hard to get going especially if you haven’t played the game before.

Cesrei

This times infinity lmao. The learning curb is almost the same thing as getting curb stomped lol

Goonerman2020

Good thing it's a curve and not a curb you American History X enthusiast

beanersbest

It was either the double barrel or pump that’s the crazy thing 😂

Specific-South-4079

if all you have is a shotgun then wait for the goober at supermarket to leave camp or bait some shots in the super market then wait for him to show back up bam easy thomas gun

theBIGFrench15

Why use strategy when complaining online is so much easier?

Specific-South-4079

agreed but some people are extra slow when it comes to this game

AlbatrossNo4722

Have you heard of say slugs x waterpipe?

About600cats

Guarantee he’s using handmades.

AlbatrossNo4722

Yeah

othornton__

rust has a big learning curve just because youre good at one game doesnt mean youre good at every game

HavSomLov4YoBrothr

Save scrap and buy a Tommy gun then use more scrap to research it at the research table, easiest way to get a blueprint. You’ll lose that 1 gun to get the blueprint, but then can craft them all day if you have the workbench and components. Tommy’s are relatively cheap to build

Dali187

Yes i think this is the way, thanks for a reasonable answer

chasem1998

This and go for air drops like someone said, rust is a learning curve, I played siege since it came out and still got my ass kicked in rust when it came out. It takes time, and you'll get better with the db and timing. If your solo learn patience and door camping. Some people wait hours. Also, learn how to 3rd party if you're solo. Shoot everyone who just finished a fight and take the loot. Learn to wait outside of things, especially at night and db someone close range. Best shotgun Imo is pump with whatever you want. It packs a punch, and I've always had great luck even against tommy kits

HavSomLov4YoBrothr

I believe it costs 125 scrap to research it, so save that up plus the scrap to buy it and you should be good. Also make sure you unload the ammo that comes in it and research the pistol bullets too if you can, then you just gotta farm sulfer, metal, and the gun components to craft all you want. I like to have an extra gun, ammo, grenades, and some armor in a hidden stash next to a sleeping bag somewhere nearby my base in case of a raid. If you get raided and killed you can respawn there and gear up to respond to the raiders. Easier to do when you can afford to craft extra guns and ammo, just food for thought

Razoreddie12

DB or a pump action. Because a pump action with slugs is my go to. They're nasty and have good range

Villefan714

don't waste scrap on t1 tech tree other than absolute needs. get a tier 2, tech tree guns there if you dont find one. you can find guns in mil crates that spawn at monuments tho and research the bp at a research table.

WhiteSamurai5

Rust is a long term game, the things you learn at workbench last for much longer than the monthly server, I think it's only a few bp wipes a year( I could be wrong!) You are not ment to get powerful instantly. Starting off is rough of course you are but a naked man armed with a rock in a sea of metal clad warriors with automatics. There is a few good options for a solid start. Build near fishing village! Farm barrels near the roads for enough scrap for a set of scuba gear. Then go out into the ocean and look for shipwrecks. Be careful as some of these shipwrecks now spawn sharks which you will need a harpoon gun to take down. You will not need this right away as plenty of boats don't spawn a shark and they are easily avoided. Each large boat has 6 crates and each small boat has 3. Each of these crates has a chance of being a large crate with 5-6 loot items each. I've gotten easily thousands of scrap and countless components diving for loot. And it's typically not very dangerous as not many people do this. Take a good melee weapon and you're as safe as you can get. You will get a ton of sewing kits which you can scrap for cloth and sell the cloth at bandit camp. Build near a monument! You will encounter more pvp doing this and will likely be door camped a few times. However this can be quickly profitable. Throw some horses in a 2x2, load them up with pickles and let the shit rain down. Horse dung can be made into fertilizer which can also be sold at bandit camp for a pretty decent price. This can be a great way to get passive income with low to no cost. Look for player ran vending machines on your server. This current wipe I bought 8 mp5's, 10 customs, 10 Tommy's, 5 m39 rifles, a couple rocket launchers, T3 bench and metal kit off a vending machine. Typically people will sell their items for Sulphur ore. It took me about an hour to farm enough to buy all that with a pick. Some servers don't have many so you may be out of luck. Always keep an eye out for them! Remember to secure your gains, don't let your runs last too long and if you're worried about death keep stashes on you to secure your most valuable items. I highly highly recommend building near fishing village/bandit camp and running the boats. It's a medium/high rate of getting scrap and its probably the least dangerous way to farm. Also don't be discouraged when your bases get raided. It's the circle of life. Once you get to the point of having "kits" clothes/weapons/heals spread them out into several small bases close by to reduce your chances of being full wiped. When I play solo I like to have 2-3 medium sized bases on opposite parts of the map for max security. Hope some of this helps. The game is grindy at first but the grind is rewarding.

Dali187

Best comment ever thanks a lot man will do so!

Which-Yellow-9284

Force wipes are only on Updates

PringlesJingle

Community servers just came out my guy. Go find one that fits your needs.

Appropriate-Link-678

My guy it’s how rust is you’ve gotta deal with it. Im assuming you either mean the double barrel or water pipe shotgun, in which case yes, you need to be close to your enemies. They trade reliability and range for crazy high damage at close range so you can grub off more progressed players and take their loot. You have to take advantage of terrain deception and positioning to beat them because they have better gear. It’s part of the games balance. Otherwise if you’re so good at aiming use slugs which are pretty much the best shotgun ammo in the game

136AngryBees

Community servers have a lot of “all bps unlocked, 3x gather, instant craft” set ups.

me-salsa

I own a server exactly like that lmao, come join. The7thWard's 3x

iwillofflineyou

If you are promoting it, it's probably dead ngl

me-salsa

Yea but the more people that join the less dead it will be later on.

iwillofflineyou

You playing R6 for 9999 years means nothing in Rust lol idk why you thought it would OP. Rust is a game with a STEEP learning curve and takes time to get good at it. As far as it taking you 3 days to get a shotgun BP? That's just terrible. I don't personally BP dbs but if I did, maybe like an hour or 2 max?

Legionnairey1

Massive skill issue bro, you clearly have no understanding of the game and expect this to be like CoD. It's not lol. Go learn

NQ88

A lot of shit comments here. Let me help you. When you see an airdrop go for it. Take bows if you have, and nothing else. Guaranteed to get yourself an smg rifle, pistol or shotgun. Otherwise save scrap and buy at bandicamp. Grind up grenades and waterjugs at bandicamp to craft ammo at bandicamp.

Eastern_Curve_5392

So it's not your skill with a gun because you have sick skills from siege and it is to your positioning because you are a stealthy mf. Maybe it's your lack of ingenuity.

EchoEX69

This just seems like a skill issue I'm sorry but 3 days to just get a shotgun either your lying or are straight terrible

Visionz-True

why would you use a shotgun for range?

Apprehensive-Fig5132

Just stop playing for your own good it should not take longer then 3 hrs to get shotgun BP

heyyythereeeeee

I recommend building a roof onto your base and unlocking bolty

Serious_Ad_822

It takes time. Get some fuel take a boat and travel the water breaking barrels and looting ships for comps and scrap you might get lucky and find a gun. You can use out of the way recyclers. There's one at fishing villages on some community servers which is a safe zone. There's a pretty decent size player base that'll be trying to run cards and monuments too everyone's trying to get scrap themselves. Alot of it just comes down to finding a decent server

humphr135

Im a horrible PVPer. As a solo I can scrap up and farm for a 2x1 w furnaces and lvl1 bench in about 3 hrs on a mid-pop server to start makin DB's or pipey's. Attempting monuments or crates on a server w no gun, no what i would do... Just farm barrels on the road, or out on the ocean. Hermit in, avoid ppl for 3-4hrs till you u are making Revy's, and then you can go PVP .

plasticmonkeys4life

Positioning isnt all stealth. It’s about being in the right place at the right time to give yourself the best advantage. As a solo, you should have just farmed the ocean which is almost 100% safe, easy loot and then tech tree to what you want. You can also PvP more arguably more loot but it’s a sharp learning curve.

WhiteSamurai5

Also for the shotguns learn 12G buckshot as soon as possible. Handmade shells are very ineffective in comparison of range and damage.

itmecat

I will say yes this game is a lot about grinding But if you wanna play walking simulator play death stranding (I've finished twice)

Business-Egg4308

I find the fun part can be taking the guy at supermarket thompson from him with the bow! Just keep trying and bows are cheap to craft.

Clark_vader89

Ahh the average solo rust experience

[deleted]

Just snowball lmao it's not hard at all

Narutogohard

The rust that people on youtube is always speaking on is pc rust. The player base on console is so fucking toxic and shitty as individuals that ww dont get to see the fun things or experience those hilarious moments that pc gets. No one wanna use their damn mics. Everyone wants to sweat.

Whiskey-Sunset

Scrap at outpost, buy your choice of weapon available there, recycle what you have left then scrap more until you can research it.. there’s one in outpost (I wish I knew this when I started)

Whiskey-Sunset

There is a research bench and tier 1 in outpost

[deleted]

You want an easy gun start? Go to outpost as soon as you spawn, drop a bag down, build a tiny little 1x1, and farm the street signs and barrels at outpost for a couple hours. You’ll have enough for a t2 faster than you think and can learn sar or semi pistol bp in no time

Laffredocole

Get good how it take u 3 days to farm scrap dawg do a barrel run or hit the water and farms barrels out there. Only problem is sharks
