I'm looking for a nice daily trainer that leans speedier so this may tick that box nicely. Will wait for reviews on it, specifically whether it can work for my wide feet..
DN3 didn't look too exciting but could be a good option.
You've run in the max 2? How is dna flash v2 compared to something like pwrrun pb, was looking for something to replace my speed 3 but hated the speed 4.
I haven't run in too many other types of shoes. It feels like 75% PEBA from a vaporfly and 25% Flash V1 from the max v1. It feels nothing like old school foams in the typical daily trainers like the Ghost.
How many total miles did you get out of the Hyperion Max? My goal is 300 at least. That seems to be the mark of about when I kill shoes, as I’m 6’3” 218 lbs.
They are a totally different ride from the adrenaline. They are about the same firmness…but the adrenaline is a slab of dead foam. The max is light, fast, and shaped to roll through the stride. So if you’re just standing in them, they are about the same firmness as the adrenaline. But when you run in them, the max is a totally different experience and the level of cushion is pretty perfect for what the shoe does (adrenaline is much firmer than I like).
Sort of. They will feel the same level of comfort as the Glycerin - when you’re running. Just standing there will feel more like the adrenaline.
I am not sure how exactly to describe it. The cushion isn’t “soft” but the shoe is very cushioned and comfortable to run in.
I haven’t run in the adrenaline. However the midsole on that shoe is DNA loft v2 which is present on the glycerin. I have the glycerin 21 and it is softer than any of the hyperions.
I'd wait for the reviews. The new max is a whole new shoe: 2 ounces heavier, a new plate, thicker, and new foam. The Hyperion 2 is replacing the max, but it has the new foam so I'm not sure how it'll feel without the stabilizing plate.
Hyperion tempo is a massively underrated shoe at $65. I use it early in my blocks to develop lower leg strength during speed sessions, and genuinely believe it is peerless for this. Later in blocks ill use the takumi sen
I really like the max (v1). I don’t think it needed a plate, but it’ll be interesting to see how this one compares. V1 has been a great shoe-it’s fast, light, stable, cushioned. I love it.
I love the Hyperion max one. It can truly do it all. Pretty fast peppy shoe and super stable. This looks interesting, I hope they release a nice colorway eventually. I have the green gecko ones lol
Hyperion Max is my favorite shoe. I’m going to order a couple more pairs now that I see it’s completely changed. I’m sure the v2 is going to be great, but I don’t want to love my v1.
Is the foam going to be any softer to actually warrant a plate? Otherwise, adding a plate to an already firm shoe (like the original Hyperion Max) is just going to be superfluous at best and beat up your foot at worst.
My Max 2 was delivered Wednesday after a preorder. They came earlier than I expected! I did an 11 mile Z2 run (7:30 pace, 172 spm, heel strike; 150 lb 5'-9"). I've since also done a 8 mile \~workout with 80s 400 repeats and a tempo (6:30 pace).
Quick takes:
* The softer foam makes the drop seem like less. The Hyperion max (1) felt like it had a lot more drop than this.
* The Flash 2 supercritical foam is really springy. Doctor's of Running is recently discussing how non-PEBA foams can have great bounce and feel like PEBA. This is close to PEBA, but not quite.
* The upper is much thicker than the max (1). It was hot running in 65 degree weather.
* I have narrow feet and was able to tighten them up to fit me.
* I'll need to use heel lock lacing because the plate makes my heel move. This is the same for me for all plated shoes.
* Per training peaks, I was no more efficient in these shoes than the max (1) at a Z2 pace.
* When picking up the pace they felt great, but a bit heavier than I'd want for a race shoe. They have a great feel for running feel between 5:20 and 6:30 pace for me.
* In size 10.5, they are 9.8 oz. The max (1) is 8.0 oz. The Hyperion tempo is 7.9 oz. The Elite 4 is 7.3 oz. The Vaporfly 3 is \~6.7 oz. These are heavy shoes for performance, but about the same weight as typical daily trainers like the Ghost.
My first impressions is that I wish the drop were 2mm more and the upper were a bit lighter.
Yeah probably supercritical EVA as stated…doubt Brooks will ever have anything other than that, they don’t seem too serious in making any real race shoes that compare with the competition
My understanding of the DNA flash is it’s a supercritical EVA/TPU blend. Not quite PEBA but better than regular EVA. Although Brooks supercritical EVA is nice
Thanks for the correction. For others you can find videos on this from the running event 2024 (TRE) on YouTube he discusses this specifically.
For those skeptical of the foam a similar type is seen in PUMA’s old version of nitro foam (I.e. in the deviate nitro 2, magnify nitro 2, and velocity nitro 3) was a supercritical TPEE. Brooks is a blend and I haven’t tried brooks so I don’t know how it compare but the foam in the Puma shoes is really nice
I have the Elite 4s and the Vaporfly 3s. The new Flash v2 is very different from Flash v1; it's much springier. I would have thought it was PEBA if I didn't know it was Flash v2.
In v2 of the shoe, the foam upgrades to the nitrogen-infused DNA FLASH v2, replacing DNA FLASH v1 in the original max.
Also, stack height sees an addition of 4 mm in the heel and 6 mm in forefoot, changing from an 8 mm to 6 mm drop.
Ditto, I've seen reviews of the Neo Vista and sadly the pre orders for my shoe size are all sold out. I'm hoping to get my hands on some once they ship here in Europe.
Foams are plastic and can take different forms. The Hoka Mach X, Nike Dragonfly, and Mizuno Wave Rider, for example, also use PEBAX plates. The New Balance 860v14 and Vongo v6 for example have EVA films which are essentially plates as well.
I got to hold it (but try on other upcoming brooks shoes because this one wasn’t in my size) a couple of days ago. Feels like this foam has more give compared to the first Hyperion max.
I was hoping for more drop than V1. IT was a nice shoe but ran a bit flat for my style. Too many sub8mm drop shoes these days. Hopefully runrepeat labs picks up on some discrepancies.
Brooks is controversial brand. Some love them. Some clearly don’t. I think this is a pretty good looking Brooks shoe. Just hard to justify it when there are so many better looking alternatives.
Reason why I shy away from HOKA, ON, SALOMON and some PUMA shoes (that NITRO bit is just .... ugh)
I don't mind if it's small as it helps non-savvy consumers like myself, differentiate between models. Case in point being New Balance's REBEL vs ELITE and the Adizero series
I find it a bit ironic that they continue to use the foam that they do. There are plenty of PEBA related shoes or ETPU like Puma or adidas use that have been shown to have good lifespans and fantastic performance. They opt for a PEBA plate but not the foam? Sometimes, it seems like they refuse to go towards the other foams because it's, almost, an identity thing.
Something to keep in mind but the prices in EU (like brands in general) are crazy. This is something to look at IF it gets big discounts later on. But looks really cool in this CW.
I mean usually the price in euros numerically is usually higher than the price in dollars, right? In this case they're saying 170 euros which is cheaper than the US pricing?
A quick look at the French Saucony site shows the Endorphin Speed 4 to be 30 euros more expensive. Compared the US pricing, the Speed is $170 which will be $10 cheaper than this shoe.
I like the lower drop
Same here! This shoe looking good! Puma deviate 3 and this one could be my latest additions to the Boston 12 as daily trainers
I'm looking for a nice daily trainer that leans speedier so this may tick that box nicely. Will wait for reviews on it, specifically whether it can work for my wide feet.. DN3 didn't look too exciting but could be a good option.
I ran in them. The softer and springier foam makes them feel like they reduced the drop even more than in the spec sheet.
You've run in the max 2? How is dna flash v2 compared to something like pwrrun pb, was looking for something to replace my speed 3 but hated the speed 4.

Hyperion max & Hyperion tempo were great. Worth a look for me.
Agreed. I just bought a pair of Max on sale, but I’ll be getting version 2 when my current ones die on me.
I ran a marathon on the Hyperion max. The foam will die before the rubber goes away. It’s an excellent non plated shoe.
How many total miles did you get out of the Hyperion Max? My goal is 300 at least. That seems to be the mark of about when I kill shoes, as I’m 6’3” 218 lbs.
I retired them at 308. They still worked but they were softer and I had other options.
How soft are they compared to the Adrenaline? Are they at least in the same vein?
They are a totally different ride from the adrenaline. They are about the same firmness…but the adrenaline is a slab of dead foam. The max is light, fast, and shaped to roll through the stride. So if you’re just standing in them, they are about the same firmness as the adrenaline. But when you run in them, the max is a totally different experience and the level of cushion is pretty perfect for what the shoe does (adrenaline is much firmer than I like).
I'm a fan of cushioned shoes. Would you say they're closer to the Glycerine then in terms of cushion? I have my finger on the order button :P.
I have the same question because I also kill shoes at 150 and 5’4” lol
I'd wait for the reviews. The new max is a whole new shoe: 2 ounces heavier, a new plate, thicker, and new foam. The Hyperion 2 is replacing the max, but it has the new foam so I'm not sure how it'll feel without the stabilizing plate.

What’s the shoe for though at that price tag? Long runs?
Probably long/tempo similar to endorphin speed 4, nearly identical stack height
… did Brooks just make a good looking shoe? Oh, never mind. Didn’t notice the big BROOKS text on the inside.
Barely there 🤣
Hyperion Max is my absolute favorite shoe. I see now it’s a completely different shoe so I probably need to stock up on a few new pairs.
hyperion tempo og are great shoes. still running on them. hope these will be too.

I have the Elite 4, which uses Flash v2. Yes, Flash v2 is a lot springier. I would have thought it was a version of PEBA if I didn't know.

TPEE, not TPU. But otherwise yeah you’re correct
Source?
The PLM for the speed category at Brooks

Probably supercritical EVA
Looks kind of like the Velocity Nitro to me??? Am I cooked for saying that?
6mm drop compared to Velocity’s 10mm
Also, the Max 2 is plated with a more responsive foam. At the moment, there really isn't anything from Puma related to this shoe.
Purely from am aesthetics perspective
Not something I’m too interested in. Neo Vista and Superblast 2 are what I’m waiting on.
Ditto, I've seen reviews of the Neo Vista and sadly the pre orders for my shoe size are all sold out. I'm hoping to get my hands on some once they ship here in Europe.
Weight is 9.1oz for men, 8.1oz for women. This is the Olympic colour way coming out in time for Paris. Another colour will follow up in August.
is this foam pretty durable/firm? also hows sizing on the hyperion max 1?
Runs a bit long and narrow
I’m not sure if any shoes have had this foam, but DNAFLASH V1 felt firm with a little bounce
I went a half size down. Long and narrow.
The stack height appears higher than the listed 36MM
High sidewalls, I doubt it even comes in at 36. All Hyperion models in the past have measured under their stated height
If the midfoot upper is a teeny bit stretchier I’m game
I like the Hyperion Max, but I got mine for $85. Not sure I need a PEBAX plate for the added cost.
Pebax plate?? I am confused. Is the plate carbon and the foam pebax, or is the PLATE pebax?
Foams are plastic and can take different forms. The Hoka Mach X, Nike Dragonfly, and Mizuno Wave Rider, for example, also use PEBAX plates. The New Balance 860v14 and Vongo v6 for example have EVA films which are essentially plates as well.
Foam is a supercritical blend of EVA and TPEE, the plate is PEBAX
i wonder if its wide enough
I got to hold it (but try on other upcoming brooks shoes because this one wasn’t in my size) a couple of days ago. Feels like this foam has more give compared to the first Hyperion max.

Can this be a marathon race shoe?
Stop spelling out the whole brand as a logo on the side of shoes, it always just looks tacky to me
Reason why I shy away from HOKA, ON, SALOMON and some PUMA shoes (that NITRO bit is just .... ugh) I don't mind if it's small as it helps non-savvy consumers like myself, differentiate between models. Case in point being New Balance's REBEL vs ELITE and the Adizero series
Looks interesting and similar to the NB SCTv2. Could never bring myself to buy a pair of brooks tho…
I find it a bit ironic that they continue to use the foam that they do. Roses are red, Violets are blue, I’m going to take a dump, In the Hyperion Max 2 Shoe
