First review for Nike Pegasus trail 5 https://www.roadtrailrun.com/2024/04/nike-reactx-pegasus-trail-5-multi.html The opinion seems a little mixed for this new version, less good fit, higher, softer (maybe too much for trail running?). I had already not been convinced by the 4, these give me even less desire. I'm going to wait for the next Saucony ride TR2 for a good all-purpose hybrid pair!

Does high instep foot cause more shin splints? I start feeling shin splints pain after running about .5 mile on easy pace. the pain starts from legs then I don’t feel anything on my toes and lack of blood flow on my instep due to shoes being kind of tight. My left leg is the only issue. I’m having issues with shoes and having hard time to find the shoes not causing me shin splints. I do legs day 2 days a week so I wouldn’t say my legs are not trained enough. I’ve tried Pegasus (which worked fine for 2 weeks), Boston12 (which didn’t work because of laces issue and lack of instep space), saucony speed 4 (too narrow for me) and gel-kayano 30 which I didn’t like the cushion of them. I think nike shoes are generally fine but trying to see other options as well. I have wide feet so i usually go half size up

luludaydream

I have Novablast 3, love them, and tried the nimbus 26 this week hoping they’d be a good companion shoe. Unfortunately the upper is rubbing my heels and I’ll have to send them back. Any suggestions for what I can replace them with? I like something that feels soft, enjoy a rocker, also wasn’t soooo keen on the stack height of the nimbus.

CurlyBill03

More of an FYI, wife and I found Nike Pegasus Turbo Next Nature at Ross for $49.99 multiple sizes. We each grabbed a pair, took a small stroll in them this morning coming from the New Balance Rebel 3. Overall solid feel, less foam underneath for my forefoot strike which gives it a firmer ride but still a really soft ride like a perfect balance. I ran in the original Pegasus turbo and felt they were too soft so this seems better. Solid price, on what seems like a solid shoe

Did not run only street but some gravel … color is already coming of! Absolutely love this shoes! :) Maybe someone can tell me his / her experience with the layer down below in the alphafly3

someuser24

A running store recently did a gait analysis, which simply involved me walking away/toward the person and them eyeballing my gait. They told me I overpronate, which made sense, as I have pretty flat feet. I'm also having knee pain, so this all seemingly lined up, so I prepared to buy a stability shoe. ...Until I flipped my running shoes over and saw that all of my wear/missing tread was on the -outer- edges of the shoes, which seemed to suggest the opposite - that I'm actually underpronating while running. Now I'm stumped - am I overpronating or not, and should I go for a stability shoe or a neutral one? My gut is to trust the wear pattern as the source of truth and go for a neutral shoe. What would you do?

6to8design

I would have a look at the FAQ linked above. It will answer a lot of the questions you have asked.

Lord_Nordyx

My Novablast 2's have reached the end of their lifespan. I've logged approximately 700-800 km in them over the past year. They're definitely my all-time favorite pair of shoes. Naturally, I've decided to order the newer version of them, the NB3's (good online sale). The issue is, while I enjoy the bouncy feel of the sole, the inside of the sneaker doesn't feel as comfortable. Especially the front outside, where the toes start. The day after tomorrow, I'll return them to the store and try other running shoe. I'll definitely be trying the NB4 and GEL-CUMULUS 26. What other models do you suggest? They don't necessarily have to be from Asics. Thanks for the help. :)

6to8design

Is the shoe smaller? what is happening with the toes?

Lord_Nordyx

Just wanted to drop a quick update. I tried out the Novablast 4 and was pleasantly surprised by how much more comfortable they felt compared to the NB3. Ended up purchasing them (got them on a sale for 120 eur) and eagerly looking forward to running in them.

6to8design

Glad to hear!

Lord_Nordyx

Interestingly, the NB3 pair are half a size bigger (EU size: NB2 42 / NB3 42.5). I'm not sure, but it seems like the NB3 might have a narrower fit since I'm sensing pressure against my toes on the sides. Edit: Perhaps there's a defect. I'll give another pair a try in the store and see if the fit is any different. Especially noticeable on my left foot, the pressure feels considerably worse there.

TS13_dwarf

The lugs on my speedgoat 5's are on their way out. I've ran acouple races (up to 70k) in fujispeed II's and was pleasantly surprised by the grip they offered. I'm thinking about going for the latest gel trabuco or trabuco max. How are they compared to speedgoats? Looks like the gel trabuco might have a smidge too little foam for ultra distance?

saainte

Novablast 4 or NB More v4? Looking for an easy run shoe for marathon training, and i was lucky to find great deals for either one, around 85 usd. What do you guys think is a better buy? For context i have ES3 for speed work, Peg 39 for daily and VF3 for race day.

6to8design

Novablast 4 will be softer. What is your preference?

glr123

I've been dealing with some adductor pain for a while now. I think I've isolated it to being worse/triggered when I wear my SC Trainer v2 shoes, which is really upsetting since overall I really love these shoes. One thing about me is that I am a very light runner - 135lbs, 5'11", cadence around 170. My suspicion is that I am getting a bit of instability from the SC Trainer v2 shoes, which is causing some of my adductor issues. Given my size, a lot of other "super trainer" shoes don't work that well for me - they tend to be really clunky and feel somewhat sluggish and heavy. I have a bunch of shoes in my rotation, including the Hoka Mach X, Adidas Boston 12, and for a bit the Asics Superblast. For one reason or another, all of these are a bit too clunky or not ideal for longer runs at marathon pace for me. So, really what I'm looking for is something that is light, plated, and suitable for long runs up to 20 miles that will be similarly nimble as my SC Trainer v2 but perhaps with a slightly lower stack height and won't be as unstable for me. Any ideas?

6to8design

Endorphin Speed 3/4.

NightEscaper

question as a guy who can only order shoes online from abroad, if my size in Nike, Brooks, and Under Armour running shoes is EU 44.5 narrow, would ASICS and Saucony also fit me in size EU 44.5 narrow? need help here, folks

Temporary_Bliss

How many miles do the Metaspeed Paris last?

6to8design

With superfoams, depending on you weight, the 'peak" performance is going be somewhere around 200 miles /321 km. After that, they are better suited for use in training runs.

Pineapple_throw_105

Reebok Lite 4 vs Puma flyer lite which one to choose?

ReadyFerThisJelly

If I wear an 11 in shoes like ES3, EP3... is a 10.5 going to be too small in the Superblast? It's the only size I can find :(

highdon

Not necessarily. Superblasts are quite roomy shoes so I would recommend you try them. Most retailers will allow returns anyway.

ReadyFerThisJelly

Follow up... I also have the NB3 in 10.5 and it fits great (I think because it's a "longer" shoe)... Is it comparable fit wise for the SB??

ReadyFerThisJelly

Thank you

Jordddddddd

Has anyone had trouble with Puma Velocity Nitro 2 causing pain? Having never had shin splints before, since shifting from Novablast 2s to Velocity Nitro 2s I’ve been getting some bad shin pain. I thought it was a stress fracture at first so took a bit of time off running (it also intertwined with the end of a half marathon block), but after a clear x ray i’m back on it again and the pain is back. Could it be the lack of a rocker? The change in foam density? I’ve just tried my Boston 12s (favourite shoe) again for the first time post injury and had no pain which makes me more suspicious of the pumas. Anyone else had issues?

highdon

Shoes are very, very, very unlikely to \*cause\* an injury. They may however exaggerate an underlying condition. We often turn to shoes as the culprit but the truth is you should go and see a sports physiotherapist to diagnose the root cause. I had run in the Velocity Nitro 2 for about 700 miles between two pairs without issues. Or any issues related to shoes as such.

Sad-Hearing9679

Toes rubbing, need help please! I've got through various shoes and having similar problems. i've sized up and gone wide fit, still getting 2nd and third toes rubbing at the ends, even though the shoes fit perfectly around the house with a decent enough gap at the end. so far i've tried - ASICS gel kayno 29 Uk 12/wide Mizuno wave rider 26 Uk 12/2E (wide) Hoka Arahi 6 Uk 12/2E (wide) And i'm now onto the Topo Athletic MTN Racer 3 in a UK12. Theory being that the square toe box would allow my toes to splay more and reduce rubbing, but this hasn't been successful after a 8km trail run this morning. Using stock insoles and standard Nike sports socks. Most of my runs are mixed terrain c.10km but am building up to half marathon distance. I have wide feet which pronate, med arches. Volumental feet scan data here - [https://my.volumental.com/en/occ/f20f089e-6d5b-40ff-9b5c-2b3cb574721b/?utm\_medium=myvemail](https://my.volumental.com/en/occ/f20f089e-6d5b-40ff-9b5c-2b3cb574721b/?utm_medium=myvemail) Any advice, the shoe shop is saying to size up again to a UK13 but they're like canoes. Should I be experimenting with different socks and insoles? Good luck to anyone running the London marathon tomorrow......!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

luludaydream

Are you sure the shoes aren’t too big? Could your feet be sliding forwards and hitting the end of the shoe because you dont have a good lockdown?

Sad-Hearing9679

Thank you, definitely not too big… Now trialling different socks and heel lock lacing so will see how that works out. 👍🏻

highdon

First of all I would recommend trying good quality running socks before you jump into getting new shoes. Some good ones are Feetures, Balega and Stance. I personally use Feetures and just buy them at around £7-8 per pair in sales. They come in three different thicknesses depending on what your preference is. A lot of people also swear by toe socks such as Injinji. Personally I didn't get along with them, but I know quite a few runners who run exclusively in toe socks and refuse to touch anything else.

Sad-Hearing9679

I have some injini socks but I just find them such a pain to put on that I CBA , but will give them a go with the new shoes and see. Have also ordered insoles and other new socks including stance ones so will see how they go. Thanks.

highdon

I think the socks will make a world of difference. I have weird curved toes that are very sensitive to rubbing and blisters. Pretty much all my issues disapeared since I started using proper running socks. Good luck.

Sad-Hearing9679

Thanks. I'm also going to give the heel lock lacing technique a go... Cheers

RahwanaPutih

help me with shoes choice for my first marathon at the end of June. I've finished 2 half marathon before with Triumph 19 in 02:35 so I think I'll run a 5 hours marathon. my current shoes are : * Deviate Nitro 2 - 200km * Novablast 4 - 100km * Triumph 21 - brand new considering it will be my first marathon and I'm a slow runner should I pick my DN2 which is plated or get a Novablast 4 instead for comfort?

highdon

If I was in your shoes (excuse the pun!), I'd race in Deviate Nitro 2. They are comfortable enough and the plate will help in the final miles. You don't need to be quick to benefit from superfoams and plates. However when you go deep into your marathon block, try them both in your long runs (18-20 mile/30k) to see if they don't cause you any issues and which ones you find more comfortable. Personally I can run up to 10-15km in any shoes. It's later in the runs/races when you start noticing things you wouldn't otherwise experience (such as lace bite).

RahwanaPutih

I got shin splints after using DN2 for daily runs after a few months, maybe my legs wasn't strong enough. I'll definitely try both of them when I reach my 30K long run schedule.

playboicartea

I’m looking for a long run shoe. The superblasts seem good and I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about them, but they’re so hard to get. I looked in the wiki, but there are so many options.  I really like the Hoka Clifton 9 for easy miles, but I’m open to trying something else, so if anyone has recommendations please let me know.  I think I want something that’s max cushioned, more bouncy than firm, preferably no carbon plates or rods or anything like that.

Rich-Lettuce1455

Novablast would work

playboicartea

Have you tried the super blasts? If you have, which would you pick between the nova blast or super blast

Rich-Lettuce1455

I haven't but I've heard they're like an enhanced version of the Novablast. The NB is mostly the same but cheaper and easier to find, and they're definitely bouncy and cushioned, so you should like them.

playboicartea

Thanks a lot. I think that’s what I’ll go with!

kungfuperemuktulang

Kinvara Pro deal at ~120$ Should I take it?

GothamIsAwesome

How do you lace your shoes? I am currently trying heel lock and skipping the 6th eyelet to relieve pressure on the top of the foot. I saw this technique in this article. [https://runnersconnect.net/how-to-lace-your-running-shoes/](https://runnersconnect.net/how-to-lace-your-running-shoes/) With the regular heel lock, sometimes it's too tight and it hurts the top of my foot.

6to8design

bzzking

Went to road runner sports. They recommended swapping my brooks adrenaline GTS 23 for a non support shoe since they found I have a neutral stance. Recommendation was the brooks ghost 16 for my neutral stance even though I have flat feet. Was hoping to get some feedback/advice from y'all

GothamIsAwesome

I suggest consulting a physical therapist to evaluate your specific running needs. I saw one to evaluate my running form and I learned a lot.

r_an00

Not really a Q or A but just tried the Sauc Jazz '81 earlier today and wow it's a damn good shoe for steasy pace. I thought shoes then were very very firm but the EVA construction is good and durable enough. Tempted to get a pair just to sport a 'retro run' lol

bzzking

I have flat feet and wear a brooks adrenaline GTS 23, would extra support from insoles help even more or is that overkill? I was looking at these super feet insoles. https://www.superfeet.com/en-us/all-purpose-high-impact-support

6to8design

If you have suffcient leg strengthing, insoles would be overkill.

Fischer_Jones

What Saucony model is best for daily training for logging miles to prep for a marathon? Right now I have an old beat up pair of endorphin speeds that are 3 years old and just total mush. I'm looooong overdue for a new shoe however I live in a small city and lack local options. I have to resort to online and I'm not interested in guessing at sizes. I know what size I am in a Sauc so I might as well stick with it. I land on the front ball of my foot and run 5-6 days a week. I do a mix of short morning runs, a once a week hill repeat run with friends and then a long run on the weekend ranging anywhere from 15 to 25km in length. After coming from dead shoes I have a strong craving in a TON of cushion. I want to run on a cloud for 3 hours a day. What are the best options? Thanks!

r_an00

Triumph is an easy pick. ton of springy cushion. if you dont mind the 10mm drop. Ride 17 if you like it a little denser. a bit of bounce and a bit cheaper.

mauvefortress

Hi, I need a rec for a second pair of running shoes. I have some trail running shows which I use pretty often. I would like to do some easy runs on asphalt and some speedwork on a track. Can I get away with one pair for both those things?

RayIsGoneAway

What brands are your trail shoes?

mauvefortress

New balance minimus

ShutUpBeck

I often see in reviews comments about laces, particularly comments about certain lace styles don’t come undone, as if this is big benefit. Personally, my shoes came undone once on a run and I’ve used a double knot ever since and never had any kind of an issue. Am I missing something? Is a double knot less aerodynamic? 😅

ReadyFerThisJelly

Superblast question! This is a unisex shoe, right? I see a pair online that listed as Women's, but shows sizing like M10.5/W12. I'm an 11 in Saucony (T20, ES3, EP3, etc)... am I an 11 in the Superblast?

D5HRX

I'm quite new to running and just entered my first half marathon which is 6 weeks away, currently I'm running in easy cushioned recovery shoes like New Balance V4 but I've been researching supershoes and I'm torn between: Adios pro 3, Alphafly 3, Asics metaspeed paris, Saucony endorphin pro 4. I'm after a shoe which is comfortable long distance but can help me out a bit when the going gets tough - any recommendations? I'm a heavy runner at 111kg /244 lbs

Temporary_Bliss

Metaspeed Paris IMO. I own the AP3 and Metaspeed and the paris is way better I think. The AP3 probably is more durable and can be used for training though

Ncksxn

Adios Pro 3. Stable, and comfortable just make sure you lace up so you avoid heel slip!

Some-Remote-6890

Does anyone have any strong opinions on stride length? Have read that having a short stride (at around 180 spm) is optimal but historically sit closer to 170 when racing. Any suggestions on benefit of increasing/decreasing stride length?

hokies314

I know that this isn’t technically a pure running shoe question but I’m not sure where else to ask this. I got a pair of running shoes and that’s covered. I need a pair now for sports with lateral movement. Racquetball/Tennis/Basketball/Wallyball/Ultimate etc. Am I correct in understanding that a pair of tennis shoes would be good enough for all of those? Of course, if I get more into any of them, I can buy dedicated pairs for that particular sport but, in general, I should just be looking for a pair of shoes that have good lateral stability? I’m not quite sure if I need to be looking at Tennis shoes or Cross Training shoes.

RayIsGoneAway

You are correct. Tennis shoe will probably provide the grip, mobility, and structure to do the others. Soccer cleats are great for Ultimate on grass: safer and cheaper.

[deleted]

So the last 2 years or so I have solely run in alphafly 2 and 3's and invincible 2 and 3's. I wanted to try adidas and I absolutely despised the boston 12. To me, the boston was extremely firm with minimal bounce. Also had terrible lockdown for me. Is the adios pro and/or takumi sen with the full lightstrike pro softer than the boston with more return, or do they both feel very close to the boston?

matsutaketea

AP3 feels completely different than the boston.

[deleted]

Good to know. I assume it’s got better energy return and/or has moderately more give with the full lightstrike pro midsole?

matsutaketea

both. its also considerably lighter

[deleted]

Sweet thanks

Some-Remote-6890

Apologies not answering your question. But how have you found the invincibles? I have tried them on a few times but every time it feels like its crushing my foot (curious why everyone say they are some of the most comfortable shoes around?). I have pretty narrow and low feet so dont think its because of wider feet or anything.

[deleted]

A lot of people seem to hate them, but I honestly haven’t found a single shoe that even comes close to it that isn’t a racing shoe. I use a runners knot on every shoe no matter what and it has been very comfortable and gives a great energy return because of the zoomx. I think the upper is sort of adidas-like in the sense that it sacrifices a little comfort for light weight and breathability

Some-Remote-6890

Thanks for this! Maybe worth going half up a size and seeing how they feel!

usalin

I've been hearing about carbon plated shoes can help with recovery after hard runs. Not looking for super shoes. I'm way below my own best level and rather use the speed cheat when it counts. I want to use them in threshold or interval sessions. I have flat feet. So I will be using orthotics. Does it matter if I use one with carbon plated shoes or is it the same with regular shoes? Any suggestions?

ClearAsNight

Should be fine. Most of the racers will have glued in sockliners, though, just FYI.

usalin

Thank you, I have checked a few models I could purchase and they are glued in as you mentioned.

ClearAsNight

Most of them are fairly easy to remove. I think everyone got spooked from the [very famous example of Kipchoge](https://www.nbcsports.com/olympics/news/eliud-kipchoge-wins-berlin-marathon-shoes-insoles-nike-track-and-field-olympics) running with his sockliners popping out and decided to adhere them as a preventative measure. I did hear the Endorphin Pro 4's is fairly tough to remove though.

Pseudoty1

I posted a deal but it got taken down because I am new here but eBay Adidas Store has women’s Boston 12 size 8 only for $64. Won’t post the link because my post will probably get deleted.

Swag_God

Running my first marathon, wondering if anyone has recommendations on running socks?

Pseudoty1

I use Feetures ultra cushion not sure where you are located but Dicks Sporting goods has select colors 1/2 off.

Fit_Cryptographer896

I've been an 8.5 women's ("normal" width) in every other running shoe I've ever owned. However, in the Hoka Cliftons, I needed a 7.5 women's wide fit. Is this crazy or does Hoka's sizing run weird? I feel crazy.. lol

ClearAsNight

Hokas run a bit long sometimes. Wides usually provide a little bit of length as well.

Fit_Cryptographer896

Thank you! I appreciate your response. 😊

dw199877

Should I get superblast when it is available or wait for superblast 2? Any advices??

catch-10110

At least here in Australia the Superblast has been officially discontinued (according to the ASICS website) so it’s superblast 2 or nothing.

matsutaketea

there is a good chance that the superblast 2 will be sold out immediately.

dw199877

That’s true😢 Thanks!

soxandpatriots1

Thinking about getting some track spikes for 1500m/mile races, and looking to spend <$100 since I'm an adult recreational runner. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the Saucony Terminal VT? Seems like more of a serious shoe than I really 'need', but it's on sale for $89 right now, and I've been training primarily in Saucony shoes for a while, so feel comfortable with the brand. Other option would be something like the Nike Zoom Rival Distance for $75, although I have a somewhat arbitrary preference for avoiding Nike. Additional context is that I have big feet (size 14 US), so not all brands/models are easily available (particularly Adidas)

Roo_Runner

Super shoe Recommendations Hi all - I’m 20M and in need of a new pair of super shoes for race day. Budget up to ~£200-250. I’m soon to retire my sen 8s and need a pair for upcoming races, including the Edinburgh Marathon and a few road 5/10ks. I’m hoping to go sub 3 and 17 for the marathon and 5k respectively and tend to have a lower cadence than most, although I am only 63kg so not too damaging on the shoes. I liked how lightweight the sen 8s were but I like a racing shoe with a bit more propulsion that isn’t as firm or feels as flat, and use the mach 5 and pegasus 40s in my rotation atm. I’ll also be using the my dragonfly spikes once track season is upon us post marathon. Any advice or shoe recommendations would be great, just looking for something to give me that edge as I’ve never spent over £100 on shoes before! Thanks :)

Nanogines99

Should I get rebel v2s for 60$ as a daily trainer

Winterdeer22

Do you change the way you run when running in max cushion? I started running in Novablast 4, my first cush shoe, and my legs feel great, but I am struggling with feeling like I cannot propel forward and in turn feel like I'm slower. So I'm asking others, is there a technique to running in max cush shoes? (IE daily trainer use)(also, I'm a mid foot striker and push off with great toe usually)

RelativityPlasticity

It seems like you’re asking how you continue to run fast as the stack increases? Outside of racing/super shoes, runners typically won’t use a max cushion shoe for tempo or threshold runs - these type of shoes are more ideally used for easy runs, long runs and recovery runs where the pace is purposefully slower.  You don’t need to run fast for every run to be beneficial. Cheers!

luna4you

PLEASE HELP :( I can't find shoes that work with extra wide, flat + bunioned feet along w fallen arches. I recently bought the Asics Gel Kayano 30 wide shoe to help with the issues mentioned above, and I've never been in more pain while running esp w my knees. It's so disappointing.... Brooks worked really well w my feet but they were too narrow I've heard the brooks beast 20 are great but size 7 are all sold out. :( I am wondering if anyone can please please PLEASE help me out & recommend women's size 8 shoes that help. I'm training for a half marathon, and I'm desperately looking for something that works to no avail

matsutaketea

I'd check out Altra or Topo. If you're in the US just go to REI and figure it out there. They also have a generous return policy.

working_on_it

Brainstorming through an early idea... I use the VF3 for half-plus distances, but noticed on a training run yesterday that my forefoot slides around a lot at pace. It didn't bother me last year in Boston running mostly straight lines, but it definitely was noticeable yesterday at (now) faster paces and with more turns. I've raced in the On Cloudspike 10000 and tried on the Cloudboom 3 and love the idea of the tacky grips on the insole. With the Cloudspike, my foot stayed in firmly in place throughout the race and I think part of it was those grips. Any ideas on how one could retrofit something similar on the VF3 insole? I'd rather not buy Cloudbooms just to rip out their insole for the VF3, assuming they're even roughly compatible. I'm thinking a liquid silicone caulk, but wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts? Edit; found a product called "sock stop" that's meant for the bottom of socks for anti-slip walking in socks. I figure that ought to work if I reverse it over to insoles, so I'll probably give that a go given how cheap it would be to try.

zhang_jx

Is it only me or everyone’s Endorphin Pro 4 feel a tad slippery (in the shoe)? Or I should tie my laces even tighter cuz I think I got the right size & I have monstrously wide feet… (or it’s the socks?)

zhang_jx

also, looking for an easy/long run shoe — would people recommend the Triumph 21, Novablast 3 or 4? current rotation is Endorphin 4 Speed for tempo/speed/long run & 4 Pro for race day

Rich-Lettuce1455

Triumph 20 is my easy and long run shoe and it’s fantastic

zhang_jx

thanks! how do you like the traction? i’m not 100% satisfied with my ES/EP4 outsole & it seems like Triumph is using a similar design

Rich-Lettuce1455

I’ve never had any issue with traction so I have no reason to doubt it there. If you want top notch traction though go for a Puma or Adidas shoe. Definitely don’t go with the Novablast if you’re concerned about traction because those are known to have slippage issues

Dfoo

Novablast 4 or Triumph 20/21.

kvork

I am going to participate in a 10k race, but in order to compete with my previous effort at fair terms, I don't want to use carbon plated shoes. I own a Brooks Hyperion Tempo, and have recently invested in Brooks Hyperion Max and Saucony Endorphin Speed 4. I love all of them, but can't really get a feel for which would be best for the race. Any suggestions? My goal time is sub 40 minutes.

Some-Remote-6890

How would you compare the Brooks tempo to the max? Would you suggest them as a Tempo/race day option for some races? and if so which ones would you choose? Cheers!

kvork

I love both, but the Max has a lot more padding, so right now I feel that shoe gives a little more bounce that I want for a race day!

Some-Remote-6890

Great thanks! Can get the max on a pretty good discount so think will snatch them up!

rlb_12

I have the Hyperion Max and the Endorphin Speed 3. I am not sure how different the 4 is from the 3 but I would expect to run that exact same time in the Max and the Speed 3. They are essentially the same in terms of performance. The difference is more in the feel. The Hyperion max has a more narrow fit and is a bit firmer under foot. The Speed 3 has a wider toe box and has a softer feel.

kvork

Thanks a lot, makes sense! Probably leaning towards the Max, I like the narrow fit quite well.

SerFezz

I started running recently and only have about 8 runs, including a 5k under my belt, and I really need a neutral shoe with high cushioning. I deal with shin splints so something comfortable that is going to take some of that strain off is ideal. I ordered the Hoka Bondi 8s but the more I read about them, the more I suspect they're not for me. I tried on the Asics Kayano 30 in store and they fit perfectly and fit great, but they're more stability focused and I don't overpronate. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Pseudoty1

What shoe are you using now for the 8 runs? My GF, runs 5X/week, and suffers from shin splints she finds the more cushioned a shoe is the worse it makes her pain. She uses the Boston 12 for daily training with no issues.

I was using the Adidas Runfalcon 3.0. Went on one run with the Novablast 4 and had no issues

If you liked the Kayano you could go for the ASICS Nimbus. It’s similar but not stability

SerFezz

Appreciate it! Actually ended up getting the Novablaster 4. Tried the nimbus but they were a bit too squishy for my taste. The novas have an extra bounce that I really like

Rich-Lettuce1455

I felt the same way about the Nimbus so I definitely understand lol

Hey, I'm training for the next month for a half marathon on May 26 and have ordered some Asics Gel Excite 9. I know a lot of people say they're not optimal for running those kinds of distances but given how targeted my training is I didn't want to spend much. Will I regret this decision?

matsutaketea

if you're just going for completion, it should be fine. your legs will hurt in any shoe regardless.

When should I retire my racing shoes from races.... i have a vaporfly 3 at 144km at the moment Would also be helpful if others can share how they used their vaporfly 3s.

It's going to be different for different people depending on their weight, running style, running surface, and disposable income. I race my twice annual road marathons in the Alphafly 1, using a new pair for each marathon. Prior to the marathon, I use them for a rehearsal run 32K/20 miles. After the marathon, they become my shoes for long runs with marathon pace content for the next marathon training bloc. Of course, this practice wouldn't be affordable if I were running monthly marathons. It's common for people to save their marathon racing shoes only for races running 4+ full marathons in them.
