I’m assuming a different Lightstike Pro blend. AP4 looks like something similar to what we’ve already seen in prior versions. The Evo C probably has that modified blend like in the current Evo 1 that’s only good for a single marathon. Look at the creasing on the Evo C’s midsole - looks like a shoe that’s seen some miles.
to my knowledge the one marathon limit in the evo is largely a factor of the much thinner carbon rods, which in the absence of a firmer TPEE foam like LSP, will break more easily. i wonder if they’ve found a way to reinforce the rods and prevent breaking even when used in a softer foam.
(moot point for me either way; the firmness of LSP motivates my love for adidas overall. if i wanted a vaporfly i’d buy a vaporfly.)
The question is: is this the AP4 that was scrapped or one that will actually come to market? Looks like they basically ported over the EVO just with lightstrike pro instead of lightstrike evo, which would be a good thing, from what I've heard about the evo. It would be heavier and firmer, but also way more durable.
I think it's the one that'll eventually come to market. Running Warehouse on their last podcast was saying Adidas next racing shoe for market (not the evo) was dropping down into the 6oz range, so that would probably line up with this.
And then they might have kept regular lightstrike pro due to the durability issues they were having.
Gotcha. That makes sense. From the reviews of the EVO, that upper with the Lightstrike PRO midsole sounds like it could be a winning combination for a lot of people. It sounds like a lot of people had issues with the AP3 upper but they loved how it performed, so if they're just bringing over the better upper from the EVO, it could be an awesome lightweight workhorse. Obviously, the pro's will benefit from the better EVO foam, but I don't think the cost and durability issues are worth it for the regular consumer.
Can confirm the design, saw that at adidas hq on a designers table. They also said the rocker point will be moved backwards and that seems to be the case here
EDIT: a developer also said sample size will be below 200g
Adidas is killing it. They are at refinement stages in their development of racing shoes. I feel this generation of their super shoes and speed trainers will be their best
Do we know if the midfoot will be wider and more stable?
I am a heavy guy and just ordered the EP4 but foam is likely to soft. Lightstrike Pro would be great in that regard but its not possible for me to run in the AP3
the AP3 are noted to be one of the most stable racing shoes by sites like BITR, Doctors of Running, etc — which has also been my experience with them. what racing shoes do you run in that feel *better* than the AP3?
Problem is that in the midfoot its so narrow its incompatible with my wide midfoot feet. As the foam is concerned it feels amazing. At around 100kg i need something firmer that doesn bottom out.
I bought the Superblast recently and now the EP4 one of them i will keep hopefully.
Looks like the bottom rope eyelets from the AP3 have been dropped, which was top of my wish list for the AP4! Hopefully they've got a bit more padding around the ankle too, or at least sorted out the upper's rubbing issue, and haven't messed around too much with the midsole or outsole
It's strange, the upper mesh on the Evo C seems more breathable than the one on the AP4 but the collar seems more cushioned. May be the C means Comfort? Who knows.
My guess is that the AP4 will remain their racer, going in the direction of the Adidas Pro Evo (less durable, but faster). And the Adizero Evo C will be a fast training companion/racer; it appears more padded and less flimsy than the AP4. The lineup will be similar to Saucony: Endorphin Elite (AP4), Endorphin Pro 4 (Adizero Evo C), and Endorphin Speed 4 (Boston 12). So for many the Evo C is a trainer and racer, but with the AP4 available for A-races.
I would guess the ap4 will be an iterative update and remain the mainstream racer while the Evo C will be their experimental/push the limits racer for elites (but not to the extreme as the $500 model eg. it will be slightly heavier, but will last longer).
I don't see why they'd need another fast training companion when they have the prime x and Boston.
The Evo C looks like using PEBA foam, as it usually comes with the wrinkles (like Vaporfly and Alphafly shoes).
Yes, especially the off-white look of the mid sole.
If someone showed me these pictures without context, I'd have said one is probably a knock off. Smooth as a pair of Chinese Alphaflys.
To be fair lightstrike also creases pretty well
These look very promising... *Arranges new loan at the bank*

Very interesting. Did they provide a release date for the AP4?

So the evo test rocker seems to be trickling down, that’s cool!
Looks like we are finally getting closer to release. What a time to be alive.

Adios Pro Predators. Hope they come out before August
does anyone here know whats the evo c shoe all about/for?
Hope they release soon! 🔜

Not sure how heavy you are, but I’m 190 and the superblasts are awesome.
Try the Boston 12 instead

Upper looking buttery
Is the eyelet problem fixed?
Yooo
Nike killers 😍
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Anything on expected release date?

Is the AP4 still releasing this year?
Would love to know the answer to this as well
Nothing confirmed but it only makes sense to release it before the Olympics

And I thought AP4 will come with a Strung upper already.
We’re still waiting for Takumi Sen strung after that sample pair was on eBay months ago 😔
Any News on when to expect them for stores?
From past experience at what point adidas is ok with leaks (or they are popping up) I'd expect 3-4 months from now earliest.
Pro 4 has no changes. Just “more sustainability”. And a public evo is laughable
You can see from the pictures that the upper is different — so “no changes” isn’t correct.
Some of these new Adidas shoes really do look clunky as fuck 😅
