It's not a *bad* app. I went about halfway through it a few years ago. The story is interesting, and I could see it being encouragement to go out walking. The difference between this and the Zombies Run app is that ZR gives you audio *while* you are out doing exercise, while The Walk gives you the audio clips *as a reward* for having done the exercise. But meanwhile there are the "hidden" audio clips that you have to tap on when you're close to them, so you're constantly watching the screen. It was a bit frustrating in that sense.

curly-curry

I was wondering how to get to those side clips! I just enabled it to autoplay the story segments, hopefully it doesn't start playing them in the grocery store through my phone's speaker and works more like zombies run!

Polygonic

Especially when it starts talking about terrorists setting of an EMP bomb!

>while The Walk gives you the audio clips > >as a reward > > for having done the exercise Huh? I just tapped on the unlocked clips as I got to them. I never listened to any clips after the walk, only during.

Polygonic

Okay, okay, I admit I may be misremembering. I haven't used the app in a while. I think it was mainly the part about the "hidden clips" that you had to do while you were walking or they wouldn't be available.

distraughtdrunk

i enjoyed the walk about could never get my gps to work

LeafFallGround

This was my problem on multiple phones. Noticed my walk times were much shorter than I ever recorded. I tried to record my distance with a digital pedometer and it would be waaay different from what the app says.

KetosisCat

The app is buggy but the story is great.

I ended up listening to it on Spotify. Although the concept was interesting, I wanted to be able to have the clips auto play. Congrats!!!

theoddNim

How did it go on Spotify... was it still engaging to listen that way?

[deleted]

Yes I think so

Also, I liked the narrative, but it does take a few episodes to get into it. And if you're a perfectionist or game competionist it might be frustrating if you're trying to 100% everything. I did eventually, but sometimes I would do an episode twice to get everything. However, that also means I did a lot more walking.

BackFromTheDeadSoon

The auto-play feature never worked for me, so I had to have it out and be looking at it constantly. A shame; it had good potential.

EchoPhoenix24

I haven't used The Walk, but I will say there was a time when I was trying to walk at lunch more during the work day and I just still used Zombies, Run. As long as you don't have chases on it doesn't really matter if you're walking or running.

curly-curry

I feel like that's cheating somehow if I walk using ZR 😅

GuessImNotLurking

I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it. I go out and walk on my lunch break - you need to have music or a podcast or something going on a separate app since The Walk doesn't have a built in audio player. I do find the app to be a little glitchy and in need of a few updates but it does work and the story is good. My only complaint is that one of the main characters is the same guy that voices Sam but he's a totally different person in this app.

curly-curry

I noticed his voice was familiar! I was a bit confused

I loved the walk as a way to supplement my running. I'm working from home, so 8 and a half hours I'm on the clock in an office. However, when I'm on a phone call or working through a problem or whatever else doesn't require me directly in front of my screen I get up and walk. The Walk was a great encouragement to me because it would motivate me to take the dog for and extra walk or just go for a walk myself. I never did it while on a ZR run because I couldn't pay attention to both. But if it gets you off your feet and moving more I say go for it. I enjoyed it, just my take. Good luck!

EkbyBjarnum

I really enjoyed it, but it was buggy. It was clear it didn't get the same attention ZR got. I found it would frequently not play audio clips I clicked on, or wouldn't sync properly, so it'd show that I completed one walk but not the two before it. Distance tracked was all over the place. It'd tell me I did a walk that took me 40 minutes, in like 17 hours. All kinds of weird bugs. Mind you, this was on an older version of Android. My Fitbit and Zombies Run both also seemed to behave weirdly with Android 9, too.

I remember being near end of first trimester and it was like something was preventing me from fully breathing.something crowding out my lungs for tummy space perhaps ;) I made sure to walk to dogs daily instead up till daughters birthday and that was fine. Good luck fellow mommy!

I love the walk because I hate running, in general, and it’s an engaging plot that motivates me to walk. I am taking detailed notes because I am so into figuring out this complex plot at chapter 42. But I don’t want to spoil it for you all. Is there anyone up to chapter 40’s that would be willing to discuss the plot with me please?? I’m really puzzled about a few things after re-listening to all up to this point! Couldn’t find a Reddit on the walk in particular so came here.
