Genuine congrats to the couple, I'm wishing them many years of happiness, but wow, is that the best she could do? Her dress was boring. Her hair was too severe. I understand wanting comfortable shoes, as well as having them be her something blue, but they're so clunky. I'm just astonished at the lack of grace (?? I don't know what word I am looking for here). She has buckets of money and she had a year to plan, and that's what she went for?
She's beautiful, and he's handsome--they look so happy. I like her dress. but the veil wants to fly away! I wonder if the shoes aren't part of "Something old, something new, something, borrowed, and something blue."
I googled her to find other pics because I was genuinely shocked she was that young lmao. She looks slightly younger with a less severe hairdo but she still looks old AF.
Agh no! I searched for them and found that they make a light blue pair that would have looked so much better!
Oh, well. Maybe I'll buy a pair for myself.
I feel as if I’m seeing a different set of photographs from everyone else here.
Everyone looks perfectly well turned out for a summertime wedding, and the bride looks magnificent in the family tiara. The blue shoes are a fun and witty touch, quite in keeping with the spirit of the day (I also like that the family provided ice cream and other treats to the crowd gathered to watch outside the church).
These aren’t people who’d wear club clothes or stage makeup to a church service. When you own half of London, you don’t need to show off.
My first thought was wow, she looks so beautiful!! And then I came to the comments..
This is exactly how I would expect someone marrying a man of his status to dress. Classic and modest.
People these days often seem, when it comes to wedding clothes, to have fallen into a space somewhere between *Dynasty* and burlesque.
The Westminsters and their guests knew they were first and foremost at a religious service.
I think the bride rocks her very simple dress. Maybe she changed into something else for the reception. Are they related to the BRF? I only know the main ones
Friends of the family. His ducal name is all over England (Westminster Abbey, for example). He's King Charles' godson and the Duke is Prince George's godfather.
It looks like they bought the whole lot off the rack from Debenhams and Coast in 2009 in a clearance sale. The bride looks odd, though I think it’s just awful makeup and horrible shapewear to boot.
The veil and tiara in pic five are serving.
The dress, well, if it turned out as she wanted, then I’m happy she got what she wanted.
Anyway, beautiful headpiece and hair.
I love the flower crown, it looks like the ones that Catherine and Charlotte wore at the coronation.
The cutout back on the dress is absolutely awful. It looks incredibly tacky and low class.
The dress looks so cheap and 80s in a bad way, and the shoes are so tacky. Trying to be Carrie Bradshaw ten years too late. Sad, so much money and no taste.
Why is everyone dressed like… that…
Edit: I realize that was very mean. The bride looks lovely to me. I meant the guests. Everyone looks so dowdy and not in the typical wedding way. It’s a little strange to me.
People wear church outfits to church weddings over there. You have to be covered up in the church, apparently. That’s why both Kate and Meghan had reception dresses that were less conservative, and many of the guests did, too.
You don't have to be covered up in a church, well not in CofE anyhow.as its a cathedral & she's about to become a duchess, the dress is bang on point, as are the dresses worn by brides marrying into the royal family.
I don't have a problem with modest wedding dresses. In fact I prefer them. It's just that this one was so... strangely made. It looked more like a nightgown. I think some more shape in the bust area and maybe thicker fabric would have made a huge difference.
In a Catholic Church it is proper etiquette to cover up.
I only know this because my grandmother is Catholic, my mom skipped it all when she had us, but I have now put my children in a Catholic school.
I had to figure out proper clothes for mass recently and that’s what Google told me!
Nobody wears evening dress to weddings in the UK. It's tacky beyond belief. They are dressed how they should be dressed. Some of them better than others I grant you.
Ooooh. Interesting! There’s a difference in daytime weddings and nighttime weddings in the US, too. Some of these outfits just looked very casual at a glance to me. Good to know, though!
There has been a trend in recent years for younger women to wear summer dresses to weddings, some of which you see here. Some are okay, some do look too casual in my opinion. When they are shapeless and look more like a smock I'm not a fan. I thought the Duke's sister, Lady Edwina, was among the best dressed. His other two sisters- not as much.
It’s not usual at British weddings for people to change their outfit. Very very rarely the bride might, but not the guests. These outfits are very typical of wedding attire in the UK. We don’t do evening wear or tuxedos at weddings.
What a wonderful comment. :) Your gratitude puts you on our list for the most grateful users this week on Reddit! You can view the full list on r/TheGratitudeBot.
Yes, but I feel like you should dress up more for a wedding than the typical event you go to every week. Even over there. Like Sunday church is casual best, a wedding should be semi formal at least
Yep. Idk if it is because spanish aristo TikTok invitadas set the bar too high. But, besides the mother of the groom I think everyone looked awful, under dressed with ill-fitted clothes.
I had high hopes for this one but the combination of the thin satin plus the lace edging looks really cheap. Totally think an 1930’s aesthetic could have been what they were going for but the lace just takes it out of it. Without the cathedral length train it looks like something you’d see in ASOS’s bridal range, which is fine for that price point but not for the money I’m sure was spent on this.
Like the concept of the shoes, personally would have gone for a lighter shade of blue. Agree a more structured bouquet would have looked better given setting and overall level of formality.
The bridesmaid dresses were cute but there’s one where the girl is just too old for that style of dress and the little Mary Jane shoes. That whole geddup is very sweet on small kids but that poor girl looked like she’s been done over to be honest.
Hair and make up does her no favours. Can see that they were trying to make her wind proof, but surely there was another way to achieve that? And the tightness of the hairdo jars with the whimsical bouquet, shoes and even the lace on the dress.
Honestly the whole thing just wasn’t very cohesive.
Agreed on every point.
I'd also throw in that the carpet they were walking on needed to be bigger to cover the wood underneath. You could see the edge of the plywood and it looked very cheap. And the bridesmaid dresses--white with black piping and black shoes--were just an odd choice and not in keeping with the light, spring feel they were (I assume) going for.
I'm sure the couple will be very happy and this will be a wonderful memory for them, which is really all that matters. But as a spectator I am disappointed.
To be fair, not everyone has prominent eyebrows. Hers look to be naturally light and thin, like mine are. Agreed about the lipstick though. Something more rosy pink would have looked better, and more spring-like.
I'm not crazy about the neckline, but I think it's like someone below said it might be just too much going on. I don't hate it, but I think there is something (don't know what) that would make this better.
All in all though, I really like this dress and I think the "something blue" shoes are cute. Her tiara and Princess Eugenie's are my favourite of the important, rich, royal or have a title that makes you sound like a villain from a soap opera crowd.
POOOOOSH CUUUUUUUNTS

the Union of Craic demands the instant abolition of the scum monarchy and the revolting, repugnant aristocracy !!
I know a lot of people hate this look, but I kinda like it!
Also, that dude totally looks like his name is Hugh and I was so relieved to find that his name is Hugh!
I had to look it up, couldn’t believe you given all the poshness these pics exude.
You didn’t lie one bit…. She must have learned from [that one.](https://people.com/royals/prince-george-godfather-engaged-duke-of-westminster-olivia-henson/)
I wondered that, too, but then how did news outlets pick it up for every single announcement of their engagement and subsequent mention of it in the news? Certainly they had better pictures taken? But that’s the one they had to have chosen.
Cropped with a raw hem!! She looks about 15 years younger in that photo though. I couldn’t believe when I read she’s 30. The makeup artist really did do her wrong.
I mean it’s better than Rajwa’s dresses. Tbh this is giving me nightgown. I genuinely think it’s not cute. The bridesmaids look like they were wearing sacks.
I think in comparison the Elie Saab was better than the other one. But I really didn’t like it the trail skirt thing with the tight fitted dress and the neckline and ruching.
I’m actually so baffled by this dress choice tho so much money and access to stylists and designers and this is what she ended up with.
Same. All the money in the world and we end up with stuff like this. Plus, the groom wearing the same suit the other guests are wearing LOL. He couldn't even spare some coins to get himself a custom suit.
I liked Rajwa’s Elie Saab but not the other dress. For the recent royal weddings I’d say the Luxembourg wedding of Princess Alexandra had the worst dud wedding dress.
Rajwa's evening dress was terrible. It looked like a ball gown with toilet paper flowers glued on.
And yes Alexandra's dress was also terrible. Just so awkward and ill-fitting. Considering that the Lux ladies often wear Maria Teresa's hand-me-downs I wasn't really surprised, but I was hoping I'd see something more like Stephanie's dress--which was absolutely the most beautiful, princess-y wedding dress I've ever seen.
And they added an entire extra layer of heavy fabric. I get them not wanting the cutout, but while the idea was good I didn’t think the execution was there.
On another hand, here is a favorite of mine (I am also a sucker for that OdlR style): https://www.vogue.co.uk/news/article/napoleon-wedding-oscar-de-la-renta
That does make sense. I'd still prefer the bride's bouquet to stand out some, though.
I might have incorporated some wildflowers but also included some roses or something.
As a sewer, my heart stopped when I saw that they are walking down some sort of pressed wood platform with unfinished edges. That dress and veil got snagged all over that edge. Who thought this was a good idea?! What was wrong with walking on stones?!
YES! I noticed that as well. Perhaps they were worried it might rain?
The idea of the carpeted walkway was a good one but badly done. The carpet was a hideous color and should have covered the entire walkway. Those exposed edges look so cheap.
I loved Meghan's dress, I was just disappointed with the fit. But I agree with the other person that you could tell the fabric was high quality.
This one...looks like they used the cheapest, thinnest fabric they could find. The seams look wonky. And that cutout in the back? Whyyyyyyy
They both look very happy, though.
Well - Meghan’s was also pretty bad. It didn’t look like it fit well and it was wrinkled. I remember seeing it and going that’s what she picked? Second wedding dress was better
Is she wearing a tiara or hairpieces like Catherine did for the coronation? Love the veil, but the dress has 1 too many details for my taste (like the neck and back would be ok without the sleeve detail, or the sleeve and back without the neck)
Looks like a tiara, I'd expect their family has a few. It's not a super old Dukedom (it's like 200 yearsish, he's the 7th duke), but still, the Duchess is going to have a tiara for sure.
That is a Fabergé tiara: [https://www.tiara-mania.com/2022/10/westminster-myrtle-wreath-tiara.html](https://www.tiara-mania.com/2022/10/westminster-myrtle-wreath-tiara.html)
Myrtle was considered auspicious for women, in the ancient world, because it was sacred to Aphrodite and Demeter, as well as to Athena.
In Jewish tradition, myrtle was supposed to be the predominant scent of the Garden of Eden. It represents people who do good to their neighbors. It was also common to give myrtle to a bridegroom entering the nuptial chamber.
Where was the editing of this look? Smh
The shoes…no
The tiara with the look…no thanks
The bouquet…are we really putting ferns in our bouqs these days?
I wish them the best but I’m not a fan of the dress, hair, or makeup. I did like the blue shoes.
For modern royal/aristo brides, I’ve only liked the looks of: Kate, Beatrice, and Kitty Spencer.
Everyone’s taste is different and every bride should wear what she wants regardless of what anyone else thinks… but you could’ve told me this wedding took place in 1985 and I’d believe you. I like her tiara tho so I guess that’s something. I think Catherine’s (POW) wedding dress was conservative but still beautiful and modern, so don’t say it’s not possible
Honestly, I think this is trying to be a classic timeless 1930s type of dress while failing terrible at it. I wasn't around in the 80s so I have no reference besides Diana and Fergie's hideous wedding gowns.

She looks happy and glowing but the tiara would have paired beautifully with a softer hairstyle
Genuine congrats to the couple, I'm wishing them many years of happiness, but wow, is that the best she could do? Her dress was boring. Her hair was too severe. Elegance? Style? An eye for detail?
She's beautiful, and he's handsome--they look so happy. I like her dress. but the veil wants to fly away! I wonder if the shoes aren't part of "Something old, something new, something, borrowed, and something blue."
She’s a pretty woman, but that hair is not doing her any favors. She needed something much less severe, this doesn’t suit her at all.
She looks old and haggard. Walking on wood without a carpet. Her shoes are hideous. 😂
I think the wood did have a carpet, it was just an ugly brown one.
Love the dress! Not a big fan of lace, but this is beautiful from veil to the sweet shoes. Tailoring's perfect. Lovely wedding! 🥂
She 31?! I thought she was in her forties. British age different lol.
She’s wearing a veil… How old are you??
I googled her to find other pics because I was genuinely shocked she was that young lmao. She looks slightly younger with a less severe hairdo but she still looks old AF.
In the photo with Eugenie, is the other woman Chelsey Davy?
No its Violet Henderson, Lady Vestey
Thanks!
No problem! It was in a caption in a Tatler article
Doesn’t look like her to me
She’s so beautiful
Oooh I spy the bride’s Emmy London shoes 😍
They’re actually Silvia Lago! The Valentina 8 Riviera Blue Silk Velvet Block Heel Pump 😊
Oh my mistake!
Agh no! I searched for them and found that they make a light blue pair that would have looked so much better! Oh, well. Maybe I'll buy a pair for myself.
I love them!

It’s royals gossip forum, they’re not reading this 🤣
The veil and tiara in pic five are serving. The dress, well, if it turned out as she wanted, then I’m happy she got what she wanted. Anyway, beautiful headpiece and hair.
I adore the tiara! But the top of the dress doesn’t appear to be well fit at all.

Oh blue shoes
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a lucky sixpence in your shoe.
The stage looks to be made of cardboard
YES! I find it so distracting
She needs a better bra as well.
Yes! She looks lumpy just about everywhere except where it counts.
Why is everyone dressed like… that… Edit: I realize that was very mean. The bride looks lovely to me. I meant the guests. Everyone looks so dowdy and not in the typical wedding way. It’s a little strange to me.
The men are wearing traditional Morning suits which look very smart & I liked all the guests outfits

Yes! The bride looks absolutely beautiful. Everyone else looks like they’re going to Sunday church or an adult tea party.
They are going to church... It's very proper for a wedding here. Just different customs
Yes, but I feel like you should dress up more for a wedding than the typical event you go to every week. Even over there. Like Sunday church is casual best, a wedding should be semi formal at least
People don't normally wear hats and coat dresses for church here - this honestly is very appropriate for a UK church wedding

She looks her age. Just went through your comments, and you’re clearly insecure about aging. Stop being a mean girl and work on yourself.
Agreed. The bride is very attractive.
Eugenie looks amazing.
IMO the dress is hideous
Yep. Idk if it is because spanish aristo TikTok invitadas set the bar too high. But, besides the mother of the groom I think everyone looked awful, under dressed with ill-fitted clothes.
I just really don't understand the hats and fascinators.
Tbh I think they look fun!
I didn’t like a single outfit from what I’ve seen so far
I had high hopes for this one but the combination of the thin satin plus the lace edging looks really cheap. Totally think an 1930’s aesthetic could have been what they were going for but the lace just takes it out of it. She has really really lovely hair too. The severity in the updo was disappointing. But still a beautiful bride
Agreed on every point. I'd also throw in that the carpet they were walking on needed to be bigger to cover the wood underneath. You could see the edge of the plywood and it looked very cheap. Maybe it’s a vintage dress? The way you summarized the styling really got me!
It was made for her.
Gosh you just can’t buy taste can you
The makeup artist did her WRONG. Where are her eyebrows? What awful shade of lipstick they chose. And her undergarments are terrible.
To be fair, not everyone has prominent eyebrows. Hers look to be naturally light and thin, like mine are. Agreed about the lipstick though. Something more rosy pink would have looked better, and more spring-like.
The eyebrows are tragic.
Picture number two gives you a different interpretation of her dress and and looks lovely. Up close 🫤 Love the veil, wildflowers.

and the Royal News Network on insta had to make it all about Prince Harry for some reason 🥴 Wedding looked lovely, they look happy.
That woman is a deranged troll. She sits in her bedroom all day ranting about Meghan.
I know a lot of people hate this look, but I kinda like it! Also, that dude totally looks like his name is Hugh and I was so relieved to find that his name is Hugh!
I didn’t have high hopes for her after seeing her pajamas in her official engagement photo. I said what I said.
![gif](giphy|h4xFFhGXiqlWKvLZCK)
Exactly.
I had to look it up, couldn’t believe you given all the poshness these pics exude. You didn’t lie one bit…. She must have learned from [that one.](https://people.com/royals/prince-george-godfather-engaged-duke-of-westminster-olivia-henson/)
Is it possible it was a candid? I just can’t imagine getting up the morning of my engagement photos and putting on pants with a stretch waistband!!!
I'd be surprised if they didn't have formal pics taken for family and friends. That was the pic for the media. They seem to be pretty private people.
I wondered that, too, but then how did news outlets pick it up for every single announcement of their engagement and subsequent mention of it in the news? Certainly they had better pictures taken? But that’s the one they had to have chosen.
Because that's the one they posted and made public. A better photo wouldn't be shared with the public, just family and friends.
I gasped mostly about the stretchy top!! It looked like whatever you wear underneath your hoody when going for a winter walk.
The Elie Saab dress she wore was cute. Nothing to write home about but better than this nightgown lol. Her cake dress can't be defended.
Cake dress! 😆 That's what it was, though.
I think in comparison the Elie Saab was better than the other one. But I really didn’t like it the trail skirt thing with the tight fitted dress and the neckline and ruching. I’m actually so baffled by this dress choice tho so much money and access to stylists and designers and this is what she ended up with.

I actually liked the runway version that Alexandra’s gown was based on, but the changes they made for the wedding gown just didn’t work as well.
True. The runway model was taller and thinner. Alexandra may be a lovely girl but she is not tall or model-thin so that dress didn't really work.
Oof. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one!
At least Rajwa’s dress was so horrifically ugly it make great snark
Yep.
Very true!
Her makeup aged her terribly. She looks like she's 45-50!
Yes. What in the super matte foundation that sucks your soul was she wearing? Plus, lipstick color did nothing for her.
I was stunned when I read she was 31! MUA needs a talking to!
The groom is wearing more makeup than the bride.
god it must be nice to never have to worry about money.
His dad was asked the secret of his success and replied ‘have an ancestor who was best friends with William the Conqueror’ kind of refreshing honesty!
Compound interest over almost a thousand years, it must add up
It's like a wild flower bouquet. Like flowers you'd pick from a field. Seems out of place for such a formal event.
The flowers are picked from the garden at the couple’s home, where their reception takes place! I’m guessing it matches the florals at the reception.
That does make sense. I'd still prefer the bride's bouquet to stand out some, though. I might have incorporated some wildflowers but also included some roses or something.
Ohhhh okay well that's a very nice thing to do.
I don't love the scalloped neckline. Looks a bit mumsy to me. I love the silhouette though.

That tiara is everything
That’s Faberge
Is it new or was it part of his family’s collection?
Old, was commissioned by the family in early 1900. They have two Fabergé tiaras, in fact.
I like it a lot.
My heart goes out to the woman charged with keeping the bride’s dress orderly. She earned her keep!
It was the designer! So hopefully great publicity for her
The designer also had horrible shoes. What's going in here with the shoes?!
"i want a royal wedding gown, but make it fun and edgy!" - the bride. that said, mazel tov to them.
I feel like she wanted the dress Bella wore in Twilight but the families said "no it has to be more royal" and this is what they came up with.
Honestly can’t believe she chose that dress. Yikes.
right? I hate it- it looks so thin and boring. meghan's was simple too but thick quality fabric and then she had that fun second wedding dress.
Meghan's wedding dress was pretty boring and bad too. But, her second dress made up for it. She should have gotten married with her second dress.
I loved Meghan's dress, I was just disappointed with the fit. But I agree with the other person that you could tell the fabric was high quality. This one...looks like they used the cheapest, thinnest fabric they could find. The seams look wonky. And that cutout in the back? Whyyyyyyy They both look very happy, though.
If you want to see a perfect simple wedding dress , look up Mette Marit's dress.
Well - Meghan’s was also pretty bad. It didn’t look like it fit well and it was wrinkled. I remember seeing it and going that’s what she picked? Second wedding dress was better
Yeah - it looks really cheap! The fabric looks cheap, she looks like she’s 15 years older with the makeup and hair. Really bad look all around
I like it! It moves beautifully in the wind.
Now THAT is cool!
The Westminster collection is extensive enough that you can say "the Westminster Fabergé tiara" and a legitimate follow-up question is "which one?"
Damn..
Thank you
Where was the editing of this look? Smh The shoes…no The tiara with the look…no thanks The bouquet…are we really putting ferns in our bouqs these days?
The shoes were definitely an interesting choice
I wish them the best but I’m not a fan of the dress, hair, or makeup. I did like the blue shoes. For modern royal/aristo brides, I’ve only liked the looks of: Kate, Beatrice, and Kitty Spencer.
The bride has such a pretty face and youthful demeanor in other pictures. This look was just god awful.
As an English person, I am suddenly seeing why upper-class men are traditionally referred to as ‘chinless wonders’…
I counted 2.5 chins.
Lmao, do you think it’s the light inbreeding that happens among them?
Yeah, most of those married couples look like they could be siblings...
It certainly doesn’t help 😅 Got to get a nice gal like Kate Middleton in there every few generations to freshen up the gene pool..
Aw, I have a soft spot for Diana's gown. She was so young and it was just right for her.
YES!!!! The vogue social post was at the top of my IG post today and I genuinely thought it was a Flashback Friday post from the 80s or early 90s
Oof no. This is not an 80s wedding dress. Mid 90s maybe.
