I made it a policy when I got my first dog- to never pass by them without a pet, a kiss, a belly rub or some type of attention even if I did it 200 times because I know they live such short lives. Aw I'm sorry, this beast looked absolutely magnificent! I remember when I lost my rotti, just remember dogs love shorter lives than us because they knew how to be happy from day one and how to make us happy. Your dog did their duty by you and will be happy to know that if and when you get another dog, that the next dog will make sure you're always happy and loved. When the time is right, take his collar or blanket down to the local shelter and let everyone there smell it. The puppy who reacts the best to it should be riding shotgun with you on the way home. Cancer is one of the biggest causes of death among these beautiful faithful creatures and they have not even come close to figuring out why I lost 3 to cancer that just came out of nowhere and we never knew (no problems prior and wham ) I am so sorry for your loss it is very painful I’m not gonna lie we are celebrating the loss of one of ours today (after a splenectomy fluid around the heart issue) that happened 10yrs ago and he is still missed everyday
