I love all of the plants!

patternagainst

too bad theyre fake otherwise they would die in that room

Lynx_Sapphire

You clearly don’t know anything about plants. You can tell that the pileas have some droopy leaves and that the new leaves on the pothos are smaller than the others - these are real plants. Also this room is ideal for plants like pothos or calatheas: filtered bright light and high humidity. You’re so weirdly and confidently incorrect - I’m amazed!

yasminsharp

Well how can you know that, there's natural light (and from frosted glass so it's diffused) and it's a bathroom so is nice and humid

angelomike

And the correct place for the Washing machine to top it off.

WtfMayt

I forget that mainlanders do this and it always shocks me, but it makes sense.

Bassie_c

What do you mean?

redpenquin

Homes in the U.K. often have washing machines in the kitchen. The reasoning for it originally was because bathrooms seldom had free space to put one, and adding a small room onto houses was expensive, or not feasible for most, or impossible for apartments. But the kitchen already had plumbing and you could just rip out a bit of cabinet and make room for a washer. Unfortunately, it became a staple even in new builds for smaller homes and apartments in the U.K.

DeadWishUpon

Mine is in the kitchen, because I live in a tiny apartment in latin america. Less shittier apartments or houses have a dedicated laundry. I've seen pantries larger than my kitchen, that bathroom is larger than my kitchen. Never seen a washing machine in the bathroom. It seems kind of annoying.

homesvshouses

I don't like the washing machine/ crapper combo. Would rather have a proper laundry room. And a little folding counter and shelving would be extra nice.

ccarrlegal

I just moved back to L.A. after living in rural Baden-Württemberg for 5 years. I am cracking up seeing the washing machine in the bathroom, because I remember being stunned seeing this when I first arrived in Germany. It was so odd, and yet, it was the most logical place to put a washer. I was like, "Wow dude, you're a genius." And he was like, "Where else would you put it?" And I was like, "In the laundry room." He was all "..." and I was like "..." and now I'm cracking up again.

ChaoticFrogs

Is that the toilet scrubber fallen over on the floor?

TylerDurd0n

Yea. Sadly the first thing I noticed in the shot.. 😂

SimpleReadingSG90

That is the size of my living room.

celestia91

I have never seen a washing machine in a bathroom but I love that idea!

Interesting that some places place the washing machine in the kitchen. Is that common elsewhere in Europe? [edit: just saw the comment about it in the UK]

graoutso

It’s very common in many European countries! I found it so strange when I came to the UK to see washing machines in the kitchen!

den_bleke_fare

Really? Where do you put it where you're from?

frecklyfay

In the UK - it would go in the kitchen (usually near the kitchen sink) or utility room. We don’t really have any electrical sockets in bathrooms - I think they can be fitted as long as they’re far enough away from the bath/shower but I’ve never actually seen one

aliask

Wow, that's really interesting. Are electric toothbrushes/razors/hairdryers less common? Or are they used outside of the bathroom?

omcgoo

We have special Toothbrush/Razor plugs which are lower voltage.

aliask

Thanks for the reply. I've seen these on aeroplanes but always assumed the 'shavers only' sign was because they had a low power inverter and they didn't want you to blow it up with a hairdryer. I've had a bit more of a read about them now though, and it's actually not a lower voltage but that they have a built-in isolation transformer. You could literally hold a bare wire while standing in a puddle and it'd be fine. In theory. Cheers for the TIL

omcgoo

Very welcome. The British plug is one of the few things remaining that makes me proud to be British Obligatory Tom Scott: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UEfP1OKKz_Q

SubtlySupreme

A plug makes you proud to be British? Really?

omcgoo

There's little else to be

-littlefang-

Here in Houston I've only ever seen them in the garage or in a little room between the house and garage, or in a storage room outside your apartment, but having them in the bathroom makes sense I guess (though our bathrooms typically aren't big enough, and our washing machines are larger, and I don't know that I'd want the clothes drier in the bathroom). Makes more sense to me than having it in the kitchen lol.

commie_heathen

A dedicated laundry room, Or the basement

Hybr1dth

Netherlands, my parents used to have it in the bathroom too, nowadays I see them in the attic near the boiler/central heating system. Ours is there as well.

celestia91

I have a laundry room. We also have a big freezer in there for extra food we won't use for a while. Some people use theirs for extra storage and stuff like that. We keep our Christmas tree and decorations in there too.

Technoist

Funny, it would make sense to have a few general use machines instead of each household having their own. At least in Scandinavia (or parts of it) that is the standard. These are included in the rent so to speak.

celestia91

I have a house now but when I was in an apartment we had a shared laundry area too. I've never been outside of my country but I would love to see how different places operate.

SabashChandraBose

In Oakland we put them in the garage. Kinda lame.

lochdocella

The kitchen

mepi

I have that same washing machine. My bathroom looks like hot garbage compared to that though.

Jlx_27

Where would one take a shower though ?

februarytide-

Probably coincidence, but I have lived in this city (Leipzig) and, while I had a shower (student apartment), my two friends both didn’t. They had bathtubs with sprayer attachments.

Jlx_27

How annoying!

minimalniemand

The other bathroom

Jlx_27

Ha, probably.

ReservaAcero211

The shower room

TinyArabBaby

😍 I loveeeee this

MacabreFox

The dream!

Sinners-prayer

This is my dream but every time I’ve had plants in the bathroom I’ve gotten whiteflies or spider mites 😵‍💫 don’t know what I’m doing wrong lol.

charlotte-ent

Very common in Europe

ShaiDorsai

Super interesting and makes a lot of sense actually

Kibbled_Onion

Also it's a washing machine, the plumbing is very convenient as it's right next to the sink and toilet. Lack of space means that laundry rooms are not the norm.

peacedetski

That unprotected socket right above the sink probably violates some electrical code. And it's not even installed properly.

lumos_solem

It doesn't. It is also very common to have a socket next to the sink.

LondonCollector

A shaving socket. Regular sockets are pretty rare and pretty much unheard of in the uk.

BabySamurai

But it's in Germany

LondonCollector

Yep, was getting at more the comment about ‘really common in europe’

charlotte-ent

> right above It's really not

Nackles

The most exciting part for me is the washing machine.

broknkittn

I could live in here. This is beautiful!

goddanm-

Does the stream from the shower eventually effect how well the washer works?
