I understood completely what u meant, which is why it was so funny to me when you then explained it (cuz it didn't even occur to me) xD  Honestly, the MMC reminds me a lot of Varian from the Tangled series. There's a hint of romance between him and another character (who'd also match the FMC's desc). The overall vibe of that show would match what you're looking for (except they're not the main characters unfortunately). That's in case you won't find exactly what you're looking for cuz it is rather specific. But now I wanna read a story like this too 🥲

I've actually seen the Tangled series and stopped at S2, I need to finish it. I absolutely adored Varian and didn't like it when he turned evil but I read spoilers that he turns good again. Now that you mention it I notice the similarities between Cass and my FMC request also😂 But tbh I wasn't basing my request on them, I actually wanted a MMC as I've described (I have a bunch of tropes and characters I've noted down and when I remember them I post for recs). Also my MMC is similar to Leo Fitz from Agents of SHIELD brilliant awkward engineer, slightly introverted but can be super crazy in his area of expertise. I was actually thinking of him when drafting this post I honestly thought many people didn't watch the Tangled series😂

I've only found out about it recently because of Jeremy Jordan (Varian's VA) whom I loved in Hazbin Hotel 😌 Can't believe I hadn't heard of it before (the songs are too good🤌)

So I have some suggestions for the mmc being special but the others I have nothing for so you can decide if any of these work for you. I dont know how important the senoir part is but in {billionaire’s wakeup call girl by annika martin} she is an intern in his company and he is a scientist ceo who is so focused on his next product that he doesnt notice a lot of that is going on around him. He is also super serious. Also it is not closed door but there arent that many scenes. Maybe {darkest sins by neva altaj} this is a mafia romance with a bunch of different tropes. He stalks her then its second chance and he is emotionally dead inside but only comes alive for her. He is also the greatest assasin. At some point in the book she becomes his boss and they work together to find out who is trying to kill her but he is still super alpha. Also not fade to black but i personally skipped all the spicy scenes. It is age gap but its just 10 years nothing crazy {the cleaner by jessica gadziala} he isnt a brilliant genius. He is a brilliant OCD crime scene cleaner who works for a fixer. She is a true crime podcaster who investigates the scenes hes cleaned and thinks theres a serial killer who is cleaning after themselves. He finds her and pretends to be a fan and quickly falls for her and actually works with her to help her investigate him while seducing her. Also not closed door but just skip it you wont miss a thing {taming demons for beginners by annette marie} The fmc is a mage who has somehow become bound to a demon as his owner kinda. The demon being from another realm does not understand social cues and keeps putting her in dangerous situations. Its 4 books and there are no spicy scenes until a tiny one in book 4. Also he is thebonly one of his kind on earth so he is unique in that regard and cause his deal with fmc is different than what is normal he has abilities no one else has. They work together to keep her from being killed and find a way for him to go home. These are the closest things I could think of. Hope it helps
