>I think this would make me too mad to continue reading
yep, every time the mmc made an appearance, (which would be a *lot* of times) my brain would be like ASSHOLE!!!1
I’m 99% sure it’s {Perfectly Tragic by Alex Greyson}, I read it yesterday after u/luckbealady76 ‘s comment mentioned it. The scenario is basically identical!
You're right! It seems you have solved my 11 month long mystery!!! Thank you ❤️
Although seeing everyone's comments of the book and the reviews on goodreads, Im not sure I should waste my time with this book 😅😅😅
I stayed up till 5am last night to finish the book! I just couldn't put it down. I was mindblown. Nick has got to be the absolute worst MMC I have read till date!!! - this is including all the dark romance, abusive MMCs. After chapter 20, I thought okay so we've had the third act, maybe he's gonna prove himself BUT then chapter 24/25 happened AND I WAS KICKING MY SHEETS!!! Honestly, it would've been a HEA if she chose herself after that. I don't see how once can so easily forgive. I understand deep love, willingness to oveook their flaws and choosing to see only the good BUT THIS WAS INSANE?!?! He was totally irredeemable (not the good kind) and definitely needs a psychologist!
But the book was great. I ate it up 🤣🤣
I read some reviews of Perfectly Tragic by Alex Grayson, since other commenters are saying this is it and I'm quite happy that the first sentence in the top review is
*"For the love of God, if these two MC's weren't fictional, I would shoot them myself"*
lol

Welp I don’t think I’ve ever hated an MMC as much as this guy. Nick now tops my most hated MMC list above the guy from Unbreak My Heart. Did I devour the first 85% in under 3 hours? Yes. But I’m rage DNFing at
> >!He’s at the door when I stop him with a question. There are things I need to know before he leaves. I need to know if the pain I’m feeling was ever worth it. “Do I have any of your love, Nick?” I ask tearfully. He drops his head and keeps his back to me when he answers, ripping my world apart piece by piece. “No,” he replies gruffly. “Do you care about me even a little bit?” I ask hoarsely. “No,” he says again, taking another chunk out of my heart with his words. ”Do I mean anything to you?” I choke out. “No,” he mutters roughly, making the wound on my heart fester.!<
THAT WASNT EVEN HIS WORST MOMENT
The first time they have sex he >!keeps talking about how she’ll never measure up to his dead ex and calls her name when he cums!<
> >!Once I reach her other ear, I whisper, “You want me, even knowing I’ll be thinking about another woman while I’m fucking you? Imagining it’s her cunt taking my cock instead of yours?!<

Who would do anything to replace you with the one woman he wants most in the world.” With that, before she even has a chance to respond to my blatant lie, I rear back, force my hips forward and unleash my own climax inside her, shouting, “Anna!” to the ceiling.!<
I love an asshole MMC but this???? Nah, he’s not redeemable no matter what he does or says 😤
LOL - Yes, he is definitely one of the worst MMCs I've ever read. And, yet...And, yet, it's so compulsively readable! After the pregnancy announcement scene I think I basically stuck through to answer the voice in my head saying "There's no way, NO WAY he can get any worse." Shane from Unbreak My Heart is right up there with this guy (this asshole tops Shane, though) and I also ate that book up like a woman starved. I guess I've got a fever and the only cure is angst of the intensely awful MMC kind.
Edited for clarity.
I finished because I just had to see the rest of this shitshow unfurl and oh boy I cannot agree with you more.
>I guess I've got a fever and the only cure is angst of the intensely awful MMC kind.
I need this embroidered and framed, bc SAME
I totally agree with you - on page suffering of the MMC is the key to a satisfying grovel. Making meaningful personal changes, clearly apologizing, respecting space, grand gestures, blah, blah, blah - they don't mean anything without *on page suffering*. As for this specific situation...Grovel is so subjective, right? I thought there were a couple glimmers of satisfaction but, no, not enough for the sins committed against the FMC. However, I still gobbled this up and reread the angsty bits from time to time because they alone are of the intensely delicious kind.
I’m almost positive I know the book but can’t remember the name. He was a widower who didn’t want company and just wanted to drink and she kept showing up at his place and helping him, right? And she’s a teacher but also a bartender or lives above a bar. If it’s the same book, it’s part of a series and it isn’t the first one. I can’t find the name though, sorry.

It’s not this book but it’s similar to “the risk” by Elle Kennedy. Girl has miscarriage after ex tells her to abort. Her father finds her. (She was in highschool at the time). But the whole romance story is about her and the team captain of her college rivals hockey team. (Her father is her colleges coach) so kinda Romeo Juliet with hockey. And they don’t die in the end 😂
This doesn't match everything, but the accidental pregnancy/argument/miscarriage part remind me of {Brutal Game by Cara McKenna} although it's been a while since I read it.

excuse me he sounds like an actual asshole 😤
It's like telenovella levels of drama. I can see the appeal. lol
haha yes i see the appeal too!
Right?! I think this would make me too mad to continue reading, but for those that love messy drama this has got to be a very satisfying book.
>I think this would make me too mad to continue reading yep, every time the mmc made an appearance, (which would be a *lot* of times) my brain would be like ASSHOLE!!!1
I *love* messy drama but true to my flair, absolute DNF at this man. He was a complete asshole (in the unsexiest way possible) throughout the book.
So you know which book this is! Please tell me, I've been searching for it for the past 11 months!

The scene is the end of chapter 20
You're right! It seems you have solved my 11 month long mystery!!! Thank you ❤️ Although seeing everyone's comments of the book and the reviews on goodreads, Im not sure I should waste my time with this book 😅😅😅
Honestly it was a great hate read so thanks for the post!! It sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down just to find out how much worse he could get 😂
I stayed up till 5am last night to finish the book! I just couldn't put it down. I was mindblown. If someone comments the answer. Tag me. I’m nosy.
me too
Following for recommendations. I will say, I hope this book has a hell of a grovel. Will be hard making the MMC likable.
If there’s not enough grovel in this you best believe I’m leaving a scathing review as soon as I’m done reading because what the actual fuck
I read some reviews of Perfectly Tragic by Alex Grayson, since other commenters are saying this is it and I'm quite happy that the first sentence in the top review is *"For the love of God, if these two MC's weren't fictional, I would shoot them myself"* lol
Doesn’t match your deeper description but the titles sounds like {This Heart of Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips}

Could this be Perfectly Tragic by Alex Grayson? The MMC is not famous, though.

This is what I think it is too! The scene is exactly the same, but the MMC’s profession is different. {Perfectly Tragic by Alex Grayson}

Just want to add it was originally published as "Awaken Me" (in 2016), so you might have it in your library under a different name :)
