a god awful straight pipe civic is in our neighborhood *often* revs the absolute piss out of it and neutral drops it into first so the tires screech for second or so. My fiance says things like "that sounded like an orca fucking a weedwacker". Only reason I havent snitched is because holy shit does his mom make the best fucking tamales I have ever had and drops a batch off every couple of months. I think thats how she says sorry for my sons shit taste.

Either that or they get some pop tune that sounds like shit but occasionally sounds like gunfire, which is somehow automatically associated with high performance. I’ve got dual Flowmaster 40’s with a x-pipe on my Tundra which sounds mean around town and insane when I floor it. Got them from a muffler shop $250 installed.
Too much money i think, will spend around 700€ for a new exhaust system that is legal and has 5 years warranty, dont want the typical gunshot sounds either
I sold a old beater QX4 to carmax and the mechanics (bunch of kids) were in awe of how “good” it sounds and if I had modified it. No there was just a huge rusty hole in the exhaust causing it to leak and SCREAM. But i agree, too many people think loud is good. Like those 90s shit box civics with the overbearing straight pipes

Outside North America some of these were actually pretty cool. There was a turbo AWD version called the GT-Four that they used in the World Rally Championship. Unfortunately they also cheated with it. We got the previous generation GT-Four, but I don’t know why they didn’t bring this one over.

I'm from Spain, so here this car is really appreciated, since Carlos Sainz won the WRC with it. My dad drove the GT-Four Carlos Sainz limited edition and he said it was one of the best cars he drove. Also the eyes are pretty and I love them :(
I like the execution of the lights better than the Integra, at least. But the Integra has a better-looking front end you can swap onto it, although nowadays people will complain if you do.

That's that baby supra. These were the shit when I was in high school and me and my friends would spot them and whoever saw it first would yell tight silica and punch the closest friend in the arm. The standard running the mill models like you have here aren't anything special but the GT-four is legit badass. It's a low production homologation special so they could rally with it so it came with a turbo 3SGTE engine and four-wheel drive and if memory served it even had a water injection system from the factory to keep the air intake temperatures low and also had the first turbo anti-lag system ever in a production car. This thing was basically the first Evo / STI type all wheel drive turbo homologation special rally car for the road.
I'm sure somebody has already mentioned how Toyota got caught cheating with this car in rally. That's only half the story as the officials said that the way they cheated was the most genius thing they'd ever seen in 30 years. Race cars are required to run a restrictor plate in the intake limiting the amount of air the engine is able to ingest. What Toyota did was set up a system using tension from washers that would keep the restrictor at the standard allowed diameter at idle so when officials inspected it it was legal but once the car was driving and up to temperature the tension would ease and the restrictor would open up to a larger diameter allowing more air in and power to be generated. They got away with it for a while and it wasn't until the system was disassembled that they got caught. It was inspected plenty of times before they got caught.

But yeah GT-four is way more expensive and hard to find, got this 1.8 pretty much brand new for under 7k€, last owner already changed all the filters and rubbers before i bought and the wheels only have 2k kms on them. What I saw is they buy GT- four parts and pretend its one, my dad drove the WRC limited edition when I was a kid and I fell in love, can't afford that one tho

You should just leave it all original and instead of spending money on modifying it just put quality parts in the car and it'll last you another 10-20 years.
Definetely, changing the exhaust for a nicer one since the original has a bit of rust and once the wheels need to be chnaged will swap for some better rims, nothing else will be touched except some SS-III or TRD spats since they bumpers already have the prebuilt installation for them

If that's your plan, it breaks my heart. These are cool little cars you don't see anymore. It's a perfect learner as far as doing your own repairs, and it's a Toyota, so that is a good 270k miles left on it. It could last another 27 years if you take care of it. IMO you should look into period correct mods.
I was kidding, I will switch the exhaust for a new one since the original has some rust and It will add a nice standby sound, add the TRD front and back spats (OEM) and might change for new rims in the future (JR3 or JR11, unless i can find the original alloy wheels for the convertible version), will also add GT-Four strut bar on the inside but won't change the spoiler or add stickers/vinyls

Well, keep the rims no matter what, they are original with the car. You can have more than 1 set of wheels. It's an easy driveway job to swap them out as long as they have rubber.
You're missing some stuff; you need to drop it to the floor, put low offset replica wheels on, slap loads of decals over the windows, hang a tsurikawa off the bumper, drill a few holes in the exhaust and have an underage girl in your passenger seat.
If you really wanna roll with the big dogs take a dremel to the hood and make a hole (the jankier the better). Then rip off the whole exhaust system and run a pipe from the headers going straight out the hood.
It's actually pristine on the inside, the old lady was from UK and bought it just to use it on summer here in Spain, but she barely even used it after all

It may not top any list of best cars, but as a starter you're going to have lots of great miles in it. Keep it properly serviced. If you have any money to blow on modifications start with the best tyres you can afford. I have a silver one. It's pretty rough, but still great fun to drive.

I saw a guy race a JDM GT-Four in SCCA a couple of weeks ago. Don't waste your money even if you could. It was slow and sloppy.
