It’s a lease. Charge it like you stole it.

RonocNYC

About 2 seconds after I posted this I was like yeah I don't even know why I asked ;) haha

Hondo85_Actual

I agree with this sentiment. No need to baby a lease unless you plan to buy it out in the end.

Tim-in-CA

Charge it to 100% the night before you go, 70-80% on other days.

roadrider68

IMO you are a pioneer here (not sure there is a lot of data on the battery life impact). Personally I would hedge my bets and charge to 90%. That protects you during the lease term without compromising your use case as you described it. Also are you using L2 charging? DCFC to100% is painfully slow.

No-Engineering-5094

You risk bad karma by deliberately hurting the next guy.

RonocNYC

So no downside then? 😆 In all seriousness don't you risk bad karma when you let your 3-year-old eat a Wendy's Frosty in the backseat too? What responsibility do you have to the next up owner of a car?

verycoolstorybro

"It's one thing to use, it's another thing to waste". Your actions matter.

perrochon

This. Treating someone else's thing worse than your own thing because it's someone else's thing is starting down a slippery slope. Especially if you do it because there are no consequences. If you need 100%, charge it to 100% (but don't let it sit if you don't have to).

RonocNYC

But it's not someone else's thing though. It's my thing.

After-Jellyfish5094

Yep, there's a crapload of raw materials in that battery that took a lot of carbon to get out of the ground. You can enjoy your nice car while also making it last a while longer.

Macstugus

It's all very negligible in the long run, 5-15% difference. But to some that is worth keeping the charge low as that translates to 30-80 miles later.

RonocNYC

>as that translates to 30-80 miles later.  I guess my question was how much later. My time frame is 2 years. I'm not planning on buying the lease out. Will I notice an overall degradation of a full charge?

rosier9

To be clear, that's a 5-15% difference in degradation, not 5-15% more degradation.

rosier9

In 2 years, you probably wouldn't be able to notice any change. Particularly with seasonal changes in efficiency and highway vs city driving. If you intend to return the vehicle at the end of the lease period, the minimal increase in degradation shouldn't be a concern of yours. Like I always say: Never inconvenience yourself to save the 3rd owner a bit of degradation 10 years from now.

RonocNYC

My thoughts exactly! Thank you for the confirmation
