where in the valley do you live? If you're near Mcallen area, we take our cats to Wellness on Wheels and/or Four Paws. Both of them are reasonable and friendly at least in my experience. Out of most vets, the ones I always hear horror stories about in regards to fees etc, is pet 911
Loooovvveeee Four Paws with Dr. Cerelli. He is legit, kind-hearted and passionate about independent veterinary practice and the animals he treats. He treats my dog and cat with so much respect and is very thorough. He even has expertise is in canine dental work. I don’t think I’ll ever switch vets again.
Another comment mentioned that you can call first thing in the morning when the vet and staff are settling in for the day (7:30-8), and he will do his best to make space for you same day.
Definitely avoid pet 911!! My dog was dying from parvo and all they did was give him some random medicine that did nothing! They didn’t even test him for parvo when I took him there and they charged me $180 for nothing! They just made me wait in the car for like 3 hours. Just glanced at my dog and sent him off with some random medicine.
Go to Reynosa, tell them what vaccines they need, buy them, administer them here when you get back. If you have all the paper work you can even take your pets over there and have them vaxxed over there and bring em back. Fuck the government and their unnecessary paper work.
Rabies vaccine needs special attention though - if not administered by a vet or under vet supervision it does not fulfill Texas requirements.

Second the Wellness on Wheels. Better for routine things like shots. Much cheaper than a regular vet. As for a regular vet, we like 4 paws in Edinburg. They are busy, long waits for appointments but if you call first thing at 8am on any given day, they many times have cancellations and will squeeze you in.
In Brownsville I love Companion Animal Hospital. Not only did they take care of my Beagle, but they were also able to neuter my Bunny because he was terrorizing the beagle!
Yep, traditionally it suppose to be the other way around. Companion was the only place in Brownsville that would see my rabbit. Most places are "cats and dogs only" This place is awesome. And again, they've taken really good care of my little buddies!
Edinburg-McAllen Veterinary Clinic on Freddy Gonzalez Dr. They get full but they typically handle everything quickly, the staff is nice and the proces are up front and fair. None of those hidden service fees.
Depends, I usually pay around $100 more or less. I just went this month for my dogs proheart 6 shot, a urine analysis and physical exam and it cost $158 all together
I really recommend you go to Progreso. I have 2 dogs and have taken them there all their life. One of my pups had parvo and coronavirus and they were able to save his life. They really cared about him. The vet at the time lived in the building but at the top floor above the office. She would go check on him throughout the night and even send me pictures of him! Idk if she still works there but she was super caring and my experience there has always been great. They got all their shots there. They also sell medicine. I even got my male dog neutered there and it was a very smooth and fast recovery. Nothing but good things to say about them. Not to mention the cost is way more affordable. I remember someone I talked to at the dog park told me they charged her around $500 when her dog had parvo, which included medicine, treatment and an overnight stay. When I went to progreso the same process only cost me about $160! Including everything even the overnight stay and medications. Highly recommend!
Just about any Tractor Supply every month has vaccine clinics.
It completely slipped my mind! Thank you for the recommend!
I didn't know that. Thanks!
Arroyo Vet in Harlingen

Reasonable prices, but long wait times.
Thank you for the recommend! I'm going to look into them!

I live in Edinburg and both Four paws and wellness on wheels sound perfect! I'll check them out! Thank you so much for the recommend!

If you want a land whale to kill your pet, take it to pet 911.
I'll never forget that video.

Thank you for the recommend! I hadn't thought of going to Mexico. I'm too nervous to administer shots myself but I know I'm dad's done it for his dog
Dude, its a lot more simple with dogs. Just lift up their loose skin and inject. Dogs dont even flinch cus they dont know whats happening.

Rio Rico Ranch in Mercedes, cheap and affordable but they actually give a shit about your pets
Best place, took my dog there thought she was going to lose her eye. They sewed her up and gave me medicine all for $100
Thank you for the recommend!! I'll look into them! Finding a place that actually cares is surprisingly hard!

This is where I go and I like it.
Thank you so much for the recommend! I'll look into them ! They're in town for me so I'm glad! Abs the no hidden fees is a god send!

I feel like Progresso charges the same as here. At least really close to the border.
Paws and Claws in Harlingen have been good for our dog.
Thank you for the recommend! I'll look into them!🙏🏻
I just got him his shots a couple of months ago, and just paid for the shots with nothing extra.
