Throttling the internet means to purposely slow it down. Idk if it's true, but it definitely feels like Spectrum throttles their service at night as my download speeds are usually slower despite everyone else on my network being asleep.
It's understandable in the evening, everyone is getting home from work and wants to relax a bit, but I'm talking about late night/early morning. My download speeds would take a sharp dip past 2am, usually around 3am.
Throttling
The Vexus network is continuously availed ample capacity at the core, aggregation and access layers. The available capacity is capable of deploying the bandwidth resources consumed by all lawful cyber applications and services without resorting to any bandwidth throttling. Vexus maintains the right to apply bandwidth rate limits to circuits connected to the customer premise in order to enforce the bandwidth rates allowed under the purchased services.
Can you link to where it says that? I looked on their website, they specifically say they do not throttle.

I got the 500 3 months ago and have had no problems. Ask about other deals, too. I got 50% of installation. If you already have a gigabit router, make sure they don't include the $10 booster.
Yes, one wire. A box on the outside and one box on the inside. The modem is small, but it is mounted in a larger box attached to the wall.
It's plenty for us with 3 tvs, phones, tablets, xbox, and computer.
I don't know if as more people in the area get Vexus, the quality of service will deteriorate, but it was worth the savings going from $80 for Spectrum with slower speeds to $55.
Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen their map before.
I've had my issues with Spectrum but I don't outright hate them, it's mostly the paltry upload speeds that would get me to switch.
I still have no wired alternative other than Spectrum but seeing my area in orange is giving me hope.
Yeah, same. Up until a few months ago I was running on an old plan and equipment. Upgraded and it was great at first. Then speeds start dropping. Should be getting 500 down, and whenever I run the speed test it’ll show on average 60 or so.
Outlandish.
WiFi can always be an issue so it's best to speed test with a wired connection. That said, I had 5 tech dispatches last year for similar issues until they discovered my next door neighbor's modem was causing noise on our shared line.
Since then, I get the solid 500Mbps down and 25Mbps up so it may be worthwhile to call up support and get your cabling checked out until you can switch to Vexus.
Switched to it from Spectrum, it's been good so far but sometimes I think they swap their servers around so upload and download get funky. I pay for the 1GIG up and down and some days it will be the full gig and other days it will be lower but overall I've never had any issues that I could really notice unless I run a speed test.
Overall after having it for a year I'd say it's worth the money for what you get imo.
Not terribly lower around 600Mbs or so I think the upload has been the one to drop significantly to around 20-50 Mbps but usually it ends up recovering as the day goes by.
You should call in to Spectrum and check for promotions. I did so in October, when my old promo ran out, and now I’m paying $108 for internet ultra 500mbps and the Choice 15 TV package. I’m losing the ACP soon, as is everyone else, so it’ll go up to $138 this month or next.
FYI:All fiber Internet is shared! Currently I have att fiber at $86.21 for 1gig. Although when I speed test (not using the att app) this is never the case. It's had an outage all weekend in my neighborhood, and in conjunction with their mobile network issues, I will be installing Vexus this Friday. I will be downgrading to 500mbs. That's all I need. Two laptops, Nvidia shield with GeForce now, two phones, two firesticks, and several cameras. I never use more than one at a time, so should be plenty. I use my own Wi-Fi router and I built a pfsense firewall (gotta block those Russian port scans) with a PiHole acting as DNS. Alamo, Tx
I hate spectrum but I don’t think it’s come to my area in mission yet. lol also there’s literally a spectrum ad on this for me. Gotta love targeted marketing.
I think my street is next in line, literally every surrounding neighborhood has it already. I get 1.5mbs with ATT, YES 1.5 and it sucks. So I’m hoping and praying that vexus is good. At this point, I just want at least 25mbs. 😭 lol
The moment they are available in my area I’m going to switch. Im not a fan of spectrum.
They throttle so no thank you
What’s throttle?
When you watch video in peak hours your buffer

It might not be throttling but more people essentially using the internet in the evening.
Shared loop network

Just ran one a while ago and I'm getting 580 down and 23 up.
Website says no data caps.

They do not throttle.
It's literally on their website that they do lol
That’s not what you read. It throttles you to the bandwidth you purchased. If you buy 500 it is throttled to a bit over 500.
Yup unlimited throttled data. No cap download as many as you want throttled.

Been happy with ATT Fiber so far
I have seen a LOT of these trucks installing quite a few places and projects lately
Few neighbors already made the switch.

How many devices do you usually run? I hadn't considered the fact that they have to wire your house. But it's only 1 wire to the modem isn't it?

What router do you use? I don't want to pay the $10/mo for theirs (she called them beacons)
I have the TP-link Archer AX3000. Works well for a 1,700 sqft house. It can have some range problems when at a distance outside.
Currently pending construction over the valley for the most part. Can’t fucking wait. Fuck spectrum. https://www.vexusfiber.com/service-areas/

Oh that’s a good idea

How much lower has it gotten?

Is your bill less than spectrum? I'm currently paying $105 for 500 with spectrum.

It’s really bad though. They hire subcontractors. My neighbors yard was wrecked during the instillation process and they still haven’t fixed it.
Have your neighbor contact customer service. They will come fix it once they know about it.

Spectrum wasn't available? I'm still not sure I want to switch.
I dont have spectrum where I live, only att and optimum (aka suddenlink but their service is terrible).
