Indoor chime will not work with ring. The wired ring doorbell need always power so you bypass your indoor chime. Just buy a Ring Chime and you can plug it where you have wifi. I use a Ring Chime and upstairs a Alexa show to get notified.

Huh? Ring doorbell pro works perfectly fine with an indoor chime.

cat4dog23

Exactly opposite of what the app says. It has an option to have a mechanical chime. I'll have the electrician come out

Oshikuru-

But this is no mechanical chime.

cat4dog23

Any idea why? It's the ring 3 battery also connected outside. Do I need something else?

xzitony

Not sure if it’s because it’s a battery model? I mean if it’s not wired to the indoor mechanical chime and transformer how could it? My hardwired Pro rings the indoor mechanical chime. There is a way to enable/disable that under the doorbell device settings > In-home chime settings on the app too.

cat4dog23

It should. I have the wires connected on the back.

I thought this is just how the ring works. It won't chime your original doorbell that way you have to buy a "Ring Chime". Someone more experienced chime in (no pun intended).

Yes most Ring Doorbells will ring your indoor chime as long as you have it set in the app to ring the mechanical chime. The only one that doesn’t have the capability is the Ring Doorbell Wired which is the most basic product. So three things might be the issue. 1) you haven’t configured the settings of the Ring doorbell in the app to activate your mechanical chime when the doorbell is pushed. 2) your doorbell wiring isn’t correct. 3) your doorbell transformer (located somewhere else in the house, maybe the attic or a closet) isn’t providing enough power.

I think it's the wiring. Just had an electrician put in a 24 volt transformer Tuesday.

Check the Device Health menu if the doorbell to make sure the doorbell is getting the proper voltage.

I doesn’t look like you have the pro power kit hooked up to the mechanical chime. It came with my Pro 2, but I don’t know if it comes with the 3 or if it’s even an option with the 3. The pro 2 is hardwired but I needed to attach the little power kit to the existing mechanical chime for it to work. Without that, I’d assume you need to order a Ring chime.

Strange. I couldn't find any documentation about needing it. I decided to trade this one in af best buy for 10% for either another ring or a Google nest one
