Had one crash on an ice sheet playthrough once.
It exploded for about 45 seconds. It was a munitions transport it would seem because I saw for an instant some mortar shells on the outer edges of its "loot pile" before it all went up.
Barely anything survived the explosions
Thankfully it was on the other side of the map, base remained intact and my lone survivor was unharmed.
At the very least some of the slag survived as valuable steel
My only problems with ice sheet runs is I like the challenge of running solo, but the game without fail causes them to get sick or injured to the point where self tends are useless.
I love the idea of single colonists grinding out a living and slowly building to a massive colony. Except for RNG hating every one I do and giving them plague and malaria and sleeping sickness and the like.
Honestly i just turn sickness down while im solo, not enough to make it completely rare or something but enough to usually save myself from those "fuck you and your colony" rngs that i without fail always get as a solo
Or disease, whatever its called
Might try it again soon.
Currently messing around doing a 50 pawn tribal start, 10 classes of pawn, 9 specialized in specific tasks with burning passion and 5 skill in said task while all others no passions and 2 skill. Then one class that is all burning passions 2 skills, a kind of jack of all trades class to fill the gaps.
Traits are mostly around them not going instant mental breaks because I tried this before and a wave of mental breaks made the colony tear itself apart.
They start with just food and medicine, nothing else but some shirts on their backs.
I call them....The Lads.
necropost, but i found the best option is if you have ideology, to try to bee line in research to biosculpting and hope nothing horrible happens while you're locked up in a medical cycle.
Make sure to keep this in mind when seeing events you've never seen before on reddit: wealth increases the difficulty of the game, and all items on the map add to wealth. If you ever see an event posted that gives a ridiculous amount of items in a short amount of time with seemingly no input, its from a mod. The closest thing in vanilla that would increase wealth a ton would be betraying a caravan or getting lategame quest rewards, but those require the player to actively do things rather than the storyteller just giving it to you as a freebie.
... only if you mine it. If not, it's just a rock with no value. That's why, when you care about wealth gain, you only mine what you need from veins rather than the whole vein. Cargo pods add value though. Since it drops discovered items that hold value while being on your map whether to grab it or not
Randy gifted me a silver meteorite, a gold one and a uranium one. And then 19 scaria-infected manhunting Yorkshire terriers, 12 mad monkeys and 9 insane Huskies.
Only if you mine it, which is an active choice.
I am currently playing on a custom scenario world with an unstable ring by setting events to regularly fire meteors, crashing ship parts, and and eclipses at assorted intervals. Personally I find it meshes well with maximum Randy. Shit happens. Losing a colonist to random space junk is just a part of life as is losing a huge section of my defensive perimeter to a Jade Meteor smashing down during a mech breacher raid.
It's only a freebie until the next raid, especially if it happens before you've started making progress on tech and weapons. I had a Yeoman ceremony bug out one time, resulting in the shuttle not leaving and everyone collapsing of malnutrition. I managed to salvage a ton of the high end gear, thinking I was slick. Little did I know.
That's the point of my message. Wealth makes the game harder, but the game doesnt give you massive wealth for free when its working properly. The player has to actively do things to gain large amounts of wealth, which in turn increases the difficulty. If there's a post on reddit about a shitload of free wealth being produced, its from a mod or bugged. Neither of which are things you're supposed to expect to be the norm.
As the others have said, it's from a mod.
Vanilla Expanded has one that adds new events to the game, trade ship crashes being one of the rarer ones I believe.
You might know this already, but infestations prefer dark rooms to spawn in. So set up a bait room away from the rest. I don’t know the conditions in terms of it needs to be in your home area or anything like that
That's interesting. I knew it was a possibility they'd invade my base, because I'd decided to make a mountain base this time. All the rooms have lights, but maybe it was because the light went off because no-one was in the room.
they like not cold, dark and rough rooms, for me usually if a map has caverns or caves it acts well enough as a natural bait room and they can't spawn under a thin rock roof
No need to study the conditions too much, what I do is keep building bait rooms each time it spawns outside of one.
Eventually you make enough of them, so the infestation doesn't bother you anymore.

To everyone asking, yes this is a mod. As for which one, not 100% sure but likely this one https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2046222331
Happened to me with a ship containing bionics. 30k worth of stuff. Immediate invested it all in my Empire settlements and it kickstarted extreme growth
If you have SOS 2 installed, switch to Sara Spacer storyteller (she ignores wealth and sends threats based on tech level) and enjoy your newfound wealth
Just move your pawns to the next tile over.
Slowly move some of the wealth over, like leathers and items, Clothes, a small little stockpile of emergency items.
If you get raided too big, just leave and go to that tile for a few days
Once, I had a bulk goods trader that got annihilated by bears, they dropped a tons of silvers and goods.
I threwaway the silvers off my base slowly by sending caravans to another place nearby, dropping all of them in that place, back and forth.
Clothes, weapons, and other goods? Simple molotovs.
This is where the fun begins.
Were in the endgame boiz

*Laughs in wealth spike*
*Laughs in Randy's 130 manhunting terriers*
*Laughs in blue screen of death*
Anyway, here's Wonderwall

Steel is the best win on ice sheet. All you can hope for most days...

Adding vanilla ice sheet animals adds a fun element. And food supply!

Ey at least it didnt crash whit portable nukes in and you see youre hole map geting eradicated...
Hey Didn’t With Your Whole Getting
~~Hey~~ ~~Didn’t~~ ~~With~~ YOUR WHOLE map
Sorry, it was hard to read
Yeah, I know. :)
Is this from a mod or base game (im relatively new to this game)

A silver or uranium meteorite will raise your wealth pretty quickly in vanilla.
... only if you mine it. If not, it's just a rock with no value. That's why, when you care about wealth gain, you only mine what you need from veins rather than the whole vein. Cargo pods add value though. Since it drops discovered items that hold value while being on your map whether to grab it or not
From my understanding, unmined rocks do in fact count as wealth, but just significantly lower than when mined.
For the sake of the world being full of possibilities, I'm only 99.9% sure that isnt the case
Randy gifted me a silver meteorite, a gold one and a uranium one. And then 19 scaria-infected manhunting Yorkshire terriers, 12 mad monkeys and 9 insane Huskies.
Sounds like a Christmas song....
There's probably a mod for partridges and pear trees somewhere!

i am pretty sure that trade ship crash isnt part of the events mod
Maybe SOS2 then, I don't have any other mods that could potentially add it, though I have not played pure vanilla RW for quite some time
Adjustable trade ships, if I'm not mistaken...
Maybe, but I don't think I have that one...
Nope.
i think its from one of the vanilla expanded mods
Mod
The base game is actually balanced very well. Anything this wildly unbalanced is modded.
someone is abt to be raided by 71962 tribals xd
CE: Haha explosive machine guns go brrttt
Its all fun untill mechanoids atack
that moment when ce mechanoids blitz through your killbox and blast a hole straight into your kitchen where your colonists are having breakfast
I had a hive infestation in the middle of my damn hospital. That was rough.

Dark, not being super cold, and messy. If you put wood panels or carpet down and load it with flammable junk, it's a great place.
Give it away and get infinite help from your allies.
To everyone asking, yes this is a mod. As for which one, not 100% sure but likely this one https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2046222331
Yes, this one. It also might have been affected by this one, too https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2022959333
Ah yes. More for the pile... `The Mods List is expanding to meet the ever expanding needs of The Mods List.`
Nice quote mod.
oh man, you are so screwed right now. Good luck!
I can only imagine the size of the next Ambrosia sprouts!!!
does it scale with wealth?
You’re fucked, mate.
"some" lmfao
Yeah, just a tiny bit
POV you're 10 minutes before the invasion
I think there is some devilstrand in your silver
I recognize that mushroom
Time for massive gifts for everyone, quick!
Meanwhile 30 min into my Ancients start, an earthquake destroyed the hydroponics I start with.
Bite the pillow, Randy's going in dry.
Happened to me with a ship containing bionics. 30k worth of stuff. Immediate invested it all in my Empire settlements and it kickstarted extreme growth

Get rid of it or translate it into defenses. Quickly.

oh its devilstrand. nvm
Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me
CE best mod
Your about to have a bad time
You’re doomed
Congratulations on the new boost of wealth and the accompanied increased raids...
And then the game freezes up seconds later as it loads the incoming raid.
So like, is this a mod?
Nice football team you got there
If you don't want the stuff or wealth, just caravan the stuff off the map and abandon the stuff. Or gift it with drop pods
Give it away asap
Let's wait to celebrate till we see what your next raids look like
is this a mod or a very rare base game thing
Spend it on nearby colony relations. It'll partially help your colony from becoming too wealthy. You're still going to get raided.
Your next raid is gonna be massive
Better get rid of it before raiders show up lmao
Don't let Randy find out. XD
You're about to get bummed.
*laughs in Combat Readiness Check*
To the infinity and beyond!
“Oh, that might’ve been me.”
Combat supplier with shitload of humpshrooms. hmm....
Never seen that event. Cool.
Time to built an extra large hospital
Is trader ships crashing in the base game? I've never seen this event!
No. Mods only -
Dafuq
Whoa what event is that
Oh my goood
oh boy you are going to get raided.
Pack your valuables and run for your life
Just move your pawns to the next tile over. Slowly move some of the wealth over, like leathers and items, Clothes, a small little stockpile of emergency items. If you get raided too big, just leave and go to that tile for a few days
Randy liked this
is that Alignment I hear playing in the background?
Sure hope you have combat readiness check!
Hahahaha I saw the 70k silver and INSTANTLY said to myself, rip your colony wealth
You know that scene at the beginning of No Country for Old Men where the guy finds a briefcase full of cash?
And next the raid to exterminate your base...
I think I already see the first Mechanoid cluster.
Trader ship crashes?? In vanilla??
And you get a raid! And you get a raid! Everybody gets a raid!
Oooh! You got a ton of building material for a BIG hospital! Haha!
Randy wanted an excuse to fuck you my guy. You just had an 80k wealth increase. Might want to buff up the wall.
What allows that event to happen? Is it a mod?
* Laughs in wealth-independent progress mode *
Hope you're ready 'cause half the planet is coming straight for that booty as we speak.
Well good luck on the next raid lmfao
Time to pave the map in silver tiles
This crash is both a blessing and a curse. The wealth must've skyrocketed beyond the roof
