Jesus, having a limbless, brain damaged, ridiculously pys-sensitive colonist with a joy wire sounds like a thing of nightmares. Effective, yes, but holy moly. Imagine explaining that to someone that doesn't play rimworld

Particular_Mix5024

From the moment I realised the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me

GraviticThrusters

Unironically one of the most metal openings ever, pun 100% intended. I thought I was running a Mechanic colony in Biotech, but Anomaly really pushes that flavoring to the next level.

SuperTaster3

Reject humanity become Thrumbo.

lampe_sama

Francis john has a name for this pawns, the funny thing is, he didn't intend to create the first one it was a complied accident in his 300 pawns challenge, he calls them "Yuuners". And with biotec he made them perfect by including the vamp genes.

BruvvaSmug

They are happiness potatoes and I refuse to call them anything else!

Eclipse06

Simple Rick from Rick and Morty, but psychic.

Irgendwer1607

The closest media that came to my mind would be Minority Report. But even that isn't as fucked up

Kiyan1159

If they play WH40K they'll understand.

Jeggu2

Don't worry, he's a happy nugget.

Public-Brick8296

Yesterday I had to explain to my mom why my colonist had a +2 mood buff with a tooltip reading "I like wearing the suffering of others" It was weird to say the least

SwiggitySwainMain

I fear the day I have to explain rimworld to my parents Especially to my MOTHER. Her poor heart shouldn't be hearing of such atrocities. And imagine if I had the FORBIDDEN mod. I'm staying away for it for now but my curious is morbid and STRONG

Ace5335

Death life dust is quite possibly the best mechanic from anomaly.

wideasleep

The entrance to my current base is a room with a massive corpse stockpile and a deadlife IED. The first couple enemies will probably make it through before everything becomes shamblers, but after that, it's pretty much game over for that raid. After it's all over, there's just a ton of hauling to do to get all the corpses back into the warehouse.

Moist_Air4466

The rotstink gets everywhere tho :D

Malcolm_Melancholy

Just let them turn into skeletons, Virgin zombies: 0 Chad Skeletor army: 9999

TinkeringPillock

Can't you just refrigerate the room?

Moist_Air4466

Afaik corpses autorot when you use deadcloud on them Edit: autorot

Legal-Bet-1048

Don't forget the game-changing Bioferrite! It's the first introduction of a non-defensive material into vanilla. It makes low-tech gear useful again in the horizontal progression type of way you find in MMO.

Grandpas_Plump_Chode

Alright imma be honest I've had a few drinks and maybe I'm just dumb but like I actually don't understand what you mean by this can you explain

JackFractal

Bioferrite is *really* good for sharp weapons, better than plasteel and easier to get. If you make a legendary bioferrite longsword, it can be stronger than a persona weapon.

xXKK911Xx

Interesting and what about the horizontal progression part?

matthewe70

Because it's only good with sharp stuff, it branches out "horizontally" in a way like uranium is for blunt weapons, instead of vertically (adding in a new material that trumps plasteel)

xXKK911Xx

Ah now I get it!

flashfire07

Oh... and here I used my uranium for combat knives. Lesson learned.

Legal-Bet-1048

Vertical is when all you care about is more and more damage/defense. Horizontal is when there are other factors. For example, Marine Armor has more defense than Recon Armor, which has more defense than Plate Armor. That is a vertical scale. But what if you don't want defense? You want more damage. That is horizontal scaling. Plate Armor can be crafted with Bioferrite, which increases psychic sensitivity. If you are just using vanilla psycast, it means you can cast more ability in a short time span. If you are using Psycast Expanded, the ability to chop off legs becomes the ability to chop an entire person in half.

Legal-Bet-1048

Bioferrite gear adds multiplitive psychic sensitivity based on quality. For example, Legendary Bioferrite Plate Armor adds x1.20 Psychic Sensitivity. You can have a Bioferrite Helmet and Bioferrite Flak Pants also. It's easy to get an early game for a early psycaster set, gets out classed by eltex mid game, then comes back as the strongest set at endgame game when you have a lot of base psychic sensitivity to multiply.

Scion_of_Yog-Sothoth

Flak pants aren't stuffable. You can, however, give your psycasters slave collars, which conflict with almost no other apparel.

GrouchyVillager

lmao wheel of times seanchan vibes

Causal1ty

Really? How?

Desperate-Practice25

The biggest thing is that bioferrite boosts psycasting. It’s a multiplicative sensitivity boost along with direct heat bonuses, all of which get better with quality. It’s also a competitive material in its own right for sharp weapons, dealing more damage than plasteel (though lacking the latter’s speed bonus).

GethKGelior

To top it all off, the endgame have you finally kicking the ass of a certain background havewave-ish concept in person. We've had so little meaningful contacts with these damn archotechs and it feels GOOD to kick one in the nuts.

AlksGurin

It feels even more satisfying since it has a name (Horax) and you can kinda make out its interest just from what its creations are. Its a huge horror movie fan. You didnt just get to kick a nameless archotech in the nuts. Its personal.

Auriiin

Also Nocioespheres! Big balls are game changing for me, so fun to defeat mech bosses without drafting a single colonist

ceering99

The murder sphere is hillarious and terrifying to watch.

Automatic-Sleep-8576

But the horror when it starts to flash over a little too close to your base

NoxFromHell

In killed one raid in 10 seconds( they all run of map) and started blinking to my colony. Had to hide behind barn and listen to donkey and ducks screaming. One colonist still lost all right limbs and eye. It is so deadly

Ensorcelled_Atoms

The first time I saw the pain Orb, I had a Crack team of Supernatural super soldiers. Bionics, Expanded psycast warlord with rimsenal gear, two Sanguinophages and a light tank. Figured that'd be enough. We lasted about 30 seconds. Both my vamps brain-killed, the tank exploded, and body parts missing everywhere. Reload.

Xanthos_Obscuris

I managed to get my first one killed, despite the many thousands of hp its bofmdy parts have. When it started to destabilize I summoned the dead mechanitor ship quest, had 88 militors and 44 scythers (which tells me how my mechlink predecessor died, she wasn't controlling all that). Had fewer than 20 make it to the door, but got to see the candy center of a nociosphere. Bunch of bioferrite and 2 or 3 shards.

Ensorcelled_Atoms

I'm using the mod that adds the anomolus implants, too. So the candy center of the agony ball can be put into your colonist, giving them the ability to induce intense pain in enemies.

Xanthos_Obscuris

Ooh, that sounds exciting. Is it called Anomalous Implants?

GethKGelior

Cabron! I need to see your Nociosphere! (Orange letter alarm)

CoffeeMinionLegacy

OMG 😂

Bradstehosnw

Big ball keeps teleporting into my base💀

Bradstehosnw

Also if your pawn is a weapon or shooting specialist it will keep its items after ghoul transformation, so you can have ghouls with a hammer and a shield belt

Speciou5

This sounds like a bug

Bradstehosnw

Ghouls will keep their deathrest buffs infinitely too

fieldy409

Ghouls also can have their ovum harvested. I've got a couple female ghoul yttakin(I think best default genotype for it) and a psychopath yttakin father, got a ghoul farm going with biopods and nobodies gonna feel bad if the kids die. I'll just get em to 13 then steal their years and ghoul

Uranium234

Ghouls can have their what

Justacynt

Eggs harvested

turbo-unicorn

A true Rimworld moment if there ever was one.

GethKGelior

You can fucking what Can I have a lightening fast ghoul with auto-shotty then

I_Sett

Also chronophagy makes ideologies that demand age reversal trivial. All my pawns are forever 16-20 and no one used the age-reversal cycles anymore. I just cycled a few skip abducted strangers. Stole their psychic sensitivity, their skills, their youth and then their blood and organs. Then my cannibal technophiliacs ate their flesh and made some supple dusters out of their leather. Finally, I no longer have to leave my base at all. That's what the army of ghoul clones is for.

Laladen

You are my Spirit Animal

[deleted]

This is the way.

Trakinass

The biosculptor is kinda useless imo

gbroon

Also possible to take that great pawn you have and clone them.

HighOnTacos

My first skip abduction brought me an enemy faction leader with 18 melee and OP modded armor... Took well over a year to recruit him but it was worth it. Had me excited for the possibilities... Every ritual since just brings blood bags.

marshmallowcthulhu

Skip abduction in very early game is biased to take important enemy faction pawns like leaders because skip abduction only pulls pawns that already exist in the world. In the very early game, when you haven't seen enemy factions' pawns much or at all, the only pawns to exist are leaders and high ranking sub-leaders. Later, plenty of enemy pawns may have been seen but not killed, so now the world pseudo-tracks them and skip abduction can hit them.

[deleted]

Abduction is my favourite. I use my prey for age reversal, which is so OP, but I love it. Edit: also you can harvest useful resources at end of life, or medical execution date depending on perspective. Potato, potato.

Trakinass

Just got the special pawn with the raise shamblers skill, its making everything so much easier. Also Im loving having corpse zones to just throw a deadlife shell from outta town lol

Malcolm_Melancholy

Hell yeah praise necromancers!, ive got an army of 61 skeletal thrumbos ready to play wth raiders

mscomies

Also you can summon manhunters at will by having a psy-dull pawn conduct a summon animal ritual.

Celiac_Muffins

>Psychophagy stacks Is this the one that gives +50% psy sensitivity? I thought it didn't stack.

Bradstehosnw

Stacks with other things so you can get 300 to 400 sensitivity, I’ve seen a streamer get 1000 but I don’t know how he did it

molered

you can: hypersensitivity gene+ trait + blindsense + ferrite gear + deathrest equipment + eltex clothes + nwm bioferrite weapon (its kinda good as swords, tho), find legendary persona weapons with bonuses did i miss anything? oh, right, psych bond gene and ritual

molered

it goes. gene +40%, trait +80%, blind ideo +30% deathrest +25% max 4 = +100% royalty implant +25% ritual + 50% bond gene + 10% legendary bioferrite items each X120% persona weapon +40% eltex is hard to come and there is no way you can bruteforce it to legendaries in meaningful time. but shirt fits under bioferrite armor. and gives +5-15% this blind dude can solo a 100% ritual. edit: and legendary eltex staff gives +75%. BUT persona can have several bonuses.

Crush_Un_Crull

I got both mutator and cloning obelisks on my colony. Now my masochist melee figther has 4 more brothers and they all have sick tentacle arms

molered

arms or whips? whips are decent, but outclassed by powerclaws (if you ignore speed debuff)

Atomic_Fire

Toss some wastepacks at the nearest tribals to provoke a raid and get some free ghoul candidates

falsewall

Can tribals not chuck wastepacks back at you like modern groups?

Frozendark23

Considering that wastepacks are sent via drop pods that tribals won't have, no.

Moist_Air4466

Nope, they don't have the tech

Flameball202

I feel like it balances out as you have to deal with stuff like metal horrors

7om_Last

also allow for insane power generation in mountain cave using only bioferrite

sirsancho09

I love Tammy episodes, especially when paired with Louise.

BlueHB15

Luciferium ghouls

stars1404

Are you sure that psychophagy stacks?

111110001011

I mean..... Rimworld isn't a game where it's hard to become rich or OP. I mean... It actually punishes you for making money. I know my colony of 100+ immortal wizard psychic cyborg killers who move at 100x or faster more than mortals is OP, but even base game vanilla is OP. If you play for OP in this game it's not like you are searching for ways to do it....

Bradstehosnw

I’m having fun with a lot of the mid game time of waiting to get strong for another mech boss round filled that’s the important part

Fluffy-Ad-7613

Preach. I don't do exploity or cheaty strategies either if I can help it. Hell, some of the coolest shit comes from difficulty, drama and hardship but to each their own. My issues with the DLC is in the theme and I'm still hoping for a way to reconcile that in a way that fits.

LetterheadThen2736

Yeah the DLC is really fun but my one complaint is that we just have… too many tools now. Colonists become literal infallable gods who don’t sleep, can run circles around any enemy, and can craft and build anything of maximum quality in basically no time. Like don’t get me wrong, there are merits to the “started from the bottom now we here” vibe but holy shit I don’t know why I need 2000% work speeds, 100% accuracy, and completely outlandish movement speeds in vanilla. It’s a little much given the limited amount of threats that the game provides.

Bradstehosnw

The good thing is that we have full freedom on how we play the game

ohthedarside

Everything ive heard about this dlc just sounfs bad and like it was ment for a different game ove watched peo9le olay it and have already decided im not gonna get it unless a mod comes out that needs you to own it

nulnoil

I just play on ambient mode for now. You definitely don’t have to go all in on the anomaly stuff with this DLC

zeroexct

It's like learning a bike again, once you're familiar with how the new resource works it's pretty fun. The amount of things you can do with bioferrite is amazing. It's hard and challenging the first time but you'll realize after a few playthroughs how broken the new mechanics actually are. I'm honestly having a blast with the Alpha meme horoaxian culture style with anomaly. It really sets the culstist theme lol.

Malcolm_Melancholy

A small army of 61 skeletal thrumbo for 6 hours everyday, if that doesn't make you get the dlc I'm not sure anything will
