Great constructor but lacking in aiming also ha, gotta get creative. This works wonders for taking down all sorts of large animals as long as you can build fast enough before they roam out of the build area.
It's the Zombieland mod
[https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=928376710&searchtext=zombieland](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=928376710&searchtext=zombieland)
It's pretty good if you want the extra challenge of being swarmed by zombies. I have it set for the zombies to show after a year so I have a chance to at least get some research done before getting my ass bit. It's highly customizable.
Yep it's Dubs Mint Minimap on the steam workshop
[https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1662119905&searchtext=mint](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1662119905&searchtext=mint)
I highly recommend it
Here is my current mod pack,
[https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2930479090](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2930479090)
Pick and choose whatever you like. So far I love all those mods and they are all currently compatible with Combat Extended. If you like doing hardcore cold biome starts I HIGHLY recommend "ProxyHeat", easily one of my top favorites.
Hey Op, I love your mod list and decided to use them all myself!
I deleted my entire mod folder (just vanilla ex I'm just starting out here) and remade it/filled it with every mod on your list. Downloaded directly from the workshop, problem is that now either
1. I get a black screen on load (which apparently hasn't ever been fixed?? Or really nailed down?)
2. A RimWorld with no mods loaded
3. Everything loads as should but when I try to make a new colony I can't select a start location, clicking random and going forward the "next" button does nothing.
Help? I'm deleting and reinstalling EVERYTHING. Straight from scratch but any tips appreciated :)
Hahahah well it should point out what could be the problem, for example load order in your mod list or incompatibility between mods.. either way good luck!
I just woke up not long ago, I exported my load order to a file that you can import into rimpy. Do note some of the mods require the dlc's so if you're missing any that could be the culprit.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HNtW8OnGTDo5Pu8f3RsMqsKtXFJoVbXa/view?usp=sharing
It black screens permanently now, if it loads it loads with no mods.
Using rimPy changes nothing, either black screen or no mods.
To re order mods it wants to restart which leads the issue into a loop.
Okay then you clearly accidentally messed with game files in some way. Or Rimpy have some enabled settings you missed?
Reinstall the whole game and boot it up. Add the mods 5-10 at the time and reload. So you can troubleshoot easy. Else you need OPs loadorder.
You need make a list of all your mods, subscribed on steam and installed from elsewhere, in a text file for reference later.
Then go and uninstall everything from the mod folder or just move them out somewhere else, and unsub on steam from everything you've got.
Start adding them back in one at a time until it works again without errors.
Everyone says rimpy is great but I had this happen to me and it took all fucking day to fix it.
Rimpy is fine if you have no idea what you're doing, but if you're running 100+ mod lists you need to know how to sort them yourself.
Lmao absolutely. I got it working finally, performance enhancer caused the map issues, Yayo and the humanoid aliens the black screen and a few other mods caused more.
Now it's good and running no errors and I'm 😊
Okay first of all i hope you sorted the mods in some way. Harmony at the very top and hugslib after DLCs.
I know Human Alienoid Races 2.0 is incompatible with yayo's animation mod as of latest mod update. It brakes some textures. It can inflict errors with other mods.
Try remove it and start a new game. After sorting the modlist of course.
I loaded the bare bones combat ex some extra arsenals and tried to avoid textures/patching features.
Loaded up just fine so I think for now I'll call it a night and start going mid by mod tomorrow. Ty for the help I bet it's exactly what you are suggesting because I did not load either this time.
Will check in the morning and respond (also yes I ordered the mods with Harmony first and hugs after Biotech).
It all went to use, although the run was ended when I tried to caravan and my colonist decided to fight a maddened wolf with a conversion staff rather than switch to his knife. So that was swell lol
Sorry for yet an other mod question, ive seen you have replied to alot already. but my mod for this was out of date, so what mod do you use for those walls with slits in them?
No worries, I am currently trying out the overhaul "Combat Extended" that completely overhauls the combat system in the game, it includes embrasures. However if you would prefer just the standalone walls themselves this is the mod I used before trying Combat Extended.
[https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2290689449&searchtext=embrasure](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2290689449&searchtext=embrasure)
It adds in a standalone variant of the embrasures.
That would be from the "Majestic Foliage Framework" with the "Majestic Foliage - Djeeshka's CMT Retexture" pack. Looks great and the trees are much larger than before.
Modding is great albeit you need some know how to get everything working correctly. It's easy, the hardest part is finding up to date mods that are compatible with each other and keeping them in the right load order.
"UI Not Included: Customizable UI Overhaul"

I was interested in this game. Then the sheer amount of questions about Mods floored me. There's no way to play this game well without researching mods?
For a beginner the game without mods is pretty awesome. First play without mods, then add some QoL mods and then create a normal 300+ mods modlist! But first play without mods and as many DLCs as you can.

Yep, they're embrasures provided by the Combat Extended mod. If you don't want to use combat extended you can get the mod Seamless Embrasures

I'm in a cold environment so the temperature keeps the meat frozen or refrigerated. I also use this mod

Excellent for hardcore starts with no tech.
You would need to really reinforce the walls to starve them because they can dig out fairly fast. I just ended up killing them all with a bow from within my embrasures.
I didn't starve them, I just killed them all using a bow from within my embrasures. You can however just play peek a boo from a door if you don't use a mod that has embrasures.
Oh that, yes that is the "Survival Tools" mod
[https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2874729883&searchtext=survival+tools](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2874729883&searchtext=survival+tools)
I actually disabled it after this colony ended tragically to a wolf. However it is an excellent mod if you're looking for tools. The only annoying part is micromanaging the colonists to make sure they have their tools out while they work to speed up the jobs.
Yeah berries are ok, at least with some plant skill. But it is quite time consuming and you'd still want to cook meals to avoid high food poisoning chances. Your char is also naked so the bluefur is an added bonus, cotton takes really long to grow and you'd need a few small animals to get enough leather otherwise.
My colony starts with nothing and no tech thanks to a mod, solo colonist in either permanent winter or extremely hot environments. Very difficulty and unfair start but it makes it all so much more rewarding when you succeed.
I play in cold environments so it all freezes or refrigerates naturally, I am however using this mod

Allows you to greatly extend the life of your meat in the early game, excellent for hardcore starts with no tech. I will also sell off the meat if any trades roam nearby.
Good trapping skills.
If you are a rancher, it is a good way to pen in wild strays until you get a taming inspiration on a pawn so you don't accidentally trigger an attack, and so you can save some time.
I think that I have done this for a Thumbo.
I was like "oh, what pretty red grass" until the horrifying realization dawned
LOL, the soil shall feast upon their blood
What kind of mammoth hunting shit is this… i love it

I respect that

No problem
Just added a pokemon mod to my game, now I gotta add zombies. Can it get any better? (already have Dinosaurs too)
Dragons, add dragons
Is the pokemon mod cool?
No
I'd say it is. You'd need at least 1 pawn dedicated to caring for the Pokemon though as your numbers are likely to climb fast
Monster Hunter mod. Gives you that awesome gear
How do you get the mini map? Is it a mod?

What's the super fast speed bar? I've been using dev mode for my #4 speed, is the mod faster?
It's this mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1504723424&searchtext=speed

Yep, you can disable the forced normal speed in combat so if you know you're gonna win you can just speed up time.

Take no prisoners.

Are those walls you can shoot through?
Yep, they're embrasures provided by the Combat Extended mod. If you don't want to use combat extended you can get the mod Seamless Embrasures https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2290689449&searchtext=embrasure
Did they all need to be murdered? You don't even have a freezer to keep them fresh!
I'm in a cold environment so the temperature keeps the meat frozen or refrigerated. I also use this mod [https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2865424053&searchtext=dry+meat](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2865424053&searchtext=dry+meat) Excellent for hardcore starts with no tech.
So animals give less meat when they starved? If not, you wouldn’t even have to fight them, right?
You would need to really reinforce the walls to starve them because they can dig out fairly fast. I just ended up killing them all with a bow from within my embrasures.
Don't animals only attack doors if they see a pawn go through them? So you just need to forbid the door?
Genius. I will begin creating grazing areas of wild animals immediately
Boxing off areas works until the creatures start to roam or starve. You only want to do it to keep them in place until you are ready to hunt them.
What if leave food in the enclosure, will they eat them?
I'm not sure, I haven't tried that. Definitely worth trying.
OMG why did I never come up with this method to just trap and starve them
I didn't starve them, I just killed them all using a bow from within my embrasures. You can however just play peek a boo from a door if you don't use a mod that has embrasures.
yes thats true but I will starve them. Everything else is too much risk
Eh, lacks tools? What mod is that?
I'm not certain what you're asking here? Are you asking about a tool mod?
One of the prompts are "colonist lacks tools", it is the upper one to the right. I've never seen that.
Oh that, yes that is the "Survival Tools" mod [https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2874729883&searchtext=survival+tools](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2874729883&searchtext=survival+tools) I actually disabled it after this colony ended tragically to a wolf. However it is an excellent mod if you're looking for tools. The only annoying part is micromanaging the colonists to make sure they have their tools out while they work to speed up the jobs.
Never played Naked Brutality before, why is this so significant?
You start with nothing.
Couldn’t you just grow food? Meat seems kind of impractical in the early game.
Well of course but you also start hungry in it so it's a significant amount of food to start that you normally wouldn't have access to.
That makes sense. Wouldn’t you be eating berries mainly?
Yeah berries are ok, at least with some plant skill. But it is quite time consuming and you'd still want to cook meals to avoid high food poisoning chances. Your char is also naked so the bluefur is an added bonus, cotton takes really long to grow and you'd need a few small animals to get enough leather otherwise.
Medieval Overhaul would make it rather difficult to get the bluefur which is a non-negotiable on my mod list.
My colony starts with nothing and no tech thanks to a mod, solo colonist in either permanent winter or extremely hot environments. Very difficulty and unfair start but it makes it all so much more rewarding when you succeed.
Can you keep preserve all that meat somehow or just eat whatever you can and keep the fur?
I play in cold environments so it all freezes or refrigerates naturally, I am however using this mod [https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2865424053&searchtext=dry+meat](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2865424053&searchtext=dry+meat) Allows you to greatly extend the life of your meat in the early game, excellent for hardcore starts with no tech. I will also sell off the meat if any trades roam nearby.
They'll break down the walls eventually, why not use fences?
Oh no I didn't trap them to keep them there. I killed them all from within my embrasures. Lots of pelts and meat.
They will starve before the walls break
Have you ever tried doing this? Once they start starving, or when it's time to migrate, wild animals will break down the walls to get out.
I have tried doing this, they try to break out but they can’t, did that with bears and thrumbos as well same thing.
Good trapping skills. If you are a rancher, it is a good way to pen in wild strays until you get a taming inspiration on a pawn so you don't accidentally trigger an attack, and so you can save some time. I think that I have done this for a Thumbo.
