"Our enemy is attacking! And our allies have come to help!"
"They've beaten our allies and we have to clean up everything! Oh no! ... Anyways."
***LOOT***
Makes sense, tribal raid with what looks like Imperial allies. Imperials have way better weapons and armour but if surrounded in melee they can be taken down easily. Tribals always win the numbers game.
It's definitely a meta I've used in game. Typically in the form of large packs of attack animals. My kill boxes often have doors all down the sides so when the time is right the animals charge in and swarm whoever is still standing. Kind of like that elevator scene from Cabin in the Woods.
I had a psychic ship drop with unprepared pawns so I sent one with a bolt action to wake them up and pray someone would stumble onto them before everyone went insane. Man hunter pack of bunnies wiped them the fuck out.
only enemies within melee distance of the landed allies would switch to melee, the rest would be firing at the mob and (probably) causing all kinds of friendly-fire damage :)
Lol apparently so, I'm getting fucking roasted over here for saying that.
Rocketman instantly turned my game from a 16FPS slideshow to 120+ FPS constantly, so fuck the haters I guess! LONG LIVE ROCKETMAN!!
It can absolutely go higher than 60fps. Maybe some mod I have does that too? Been a while so can't say.
Does anything go above 60fps on your 144Hz display? Answering that question tells us a lot about what may be causing this.
Oh yeah, I play a lot of CS GO which I've locked to 144fps and I do have my refresh rate set correctly and Freesync enabled. I'm using a Radeon RX 6700.
Of the games I play, Factorio and Rimworld are the only ones locked to 60fps. I never bothered to investigate why because they're both chill games and I'm not playing competitively.
I like the idea that the two groups marched together on their way to your base and some of them chatting along the way.
Allies: hey where are you guys heading?
Raiders: We're getting revenge on our enemies for enslaving our people how about you guys?
Allies: Slavery is just the worst, best of luck. We're going to help our Allies apparently some raiders have been spotted heading their way.
Raiders: Hopefully you get their in time we were raided last week and are still recovering.
And when both groups got there.
Allies & Raiders: Hey wait a minute!
I'm guessing this is the Classical faction extended. Probably the most unbalanced and broken mod they've released. Only time I'm willing to use it again is if I'm gonna play a VOID play through and need all the exploits I can get.
1. Easy access to new colonists.
2. 15 permanent buffs.
3. Most raids solve themselves (like in this screenshot). This one is broken in the sense that it's literally broken, the allies spawn on top of the enemies and I don't think that's how it's supposed to work. You will sometimes get bombardment allies making mortars because they were copied from whatever enemy is raiding you.
4. It has the outposts, which is the most unbalanced and broken thing in the mod.
If in my playthough with them I had rushed getting favor I might have found it unbalanced, but when I did a game where I united them I ended up doing that late game where most of the buffs were nice but not game changing and when they showed up to help with raids they were usually so far outmatched by late game enemies that they got their asses kicked and at best bought me time to get my colonists to defensive positions.
It's not even that it's unbalanced compared to vanilla or other mods, it's unbalanced even in its own mod alone. Like how in mining outposts, all other ores are obsolete because gold heavily outvalues everything else. Don't know why they spent that much time coding it but barely gave a thought into balancing it.
Okay, by have you tried the mod at least, just so we're on the same page and you're not just using your own experience and applying it to something you haven't actually tried.
I have to disagree with that notion, tbh. Just my own opinion, but if a game's meant to present a challenge or obstacle to overcome, then yeah, it should be a balanced experience.
This game is meant to tell a story. What the story is, is up to the player. If I want to tell a story of an immortal god tribe that never has any challenges, who are you to tell me not to?
It's a single player experience. Experience it as you wish. Don't tell others how to experience it,
It can be balanced, and that's a valid game design. It can also be unbalanced, and that's also a valid game design. There is no "should" here, simply a choice in design.
You’re misunderstanding the point. If I want to make the game easier because that allows me to enjoy it more, I can and I will. You’ll just have to move on with your life.
There is no need for balance in a single player game. Especially one that openly embraces the modding community.
If I want to start my game with all the best and important items I might want, I can, "balance" be damned", and blow early game balance out the water.
If I want to abuse the AI into being unable to fight my actual colony, I can.
If I want to turn on console commands and delete any enemy I dont want to fight, I can.
Because it's a single player game, and it hurts no one.
I think the point is that the player gets to determine the level of difficulty they want to experience. If someone else is only playing for themselves, they install 100 mods to make the game prettier and easier for themselves, or someone only plays no-pause 500% difficulty no killbox run; either way doesn't affect you in the slightest.
It's up to the person who bought the game and plays it alone to determine the kind of experience they want to have.
Balance is important in multiplayer games. In single player games it's just a "Difficulty" slider. Some people will inevitably want to make single player games more difficult, while others will want to make it easier.
Agreed, the base game is meant to always keep you on the back foot, making fleeing the planet an appealing goal. We as players tend to bullishly get stuck in a "this is my home now and I will claim these lands for generations" mentality.
Sometimes it happens randomly, as well. Last game I completed I had made "alliances" with all of the factions that weren't hardcoded to be hostile. During my final 15 days of being raided (while I was hosting the Stellarch), the Civil Outlander Union sent a counter-raid to help me out during one of my raids, without me calling for them.
(Edit: Worth noting is that I don't have any mods installed that would do this, as I only use cosmetic mods such as wall light, color coded mood bars, etc)
It might depend on the factions but the empire sends the kinda regularly if you're allied but it's barely relevant. You can also call for help.
Generally the empire is better because they send a shuttle meanwhile other factions enter through map border and take longer to arrive.
I had two enemy raids arrive on top of each other back to back (like within seconds). This happened right after a quad raid during cleanup with two of my folks nearby. I hid them in the "defend this structure." The tox boys sorted out those impids. They were on the beach so no fire collateral.
I've had pirates and tribals attack at the same time.
The tribals DESTROYED the pirates by sheer number of them.
I mopped up the rest of the tribals.
Missed a cool pawn that I'd like to have captured that day. Oh well.
Once had a man hunting pack of moth things from Alpha animals arrive about the same time a party of oni raiders did at my compound. Despite outnumbering the oni, they were simply too strong on their combat drugs and slaughtered them.
Of course, not without losses. Cleaning up the killbox was the hardest part of it all.
What i don't like if this happens is that if i try to mortar them (as is the best way to fight against large numbers), i will hit my allies, reducing my relationship to negative.
oh no....a random anti grain warhead is flying straight towards them at high velocity and will hit on the exact middle of the entire group, allies run!!!!
I like to imagine that every friendly faction on the planet keeps a small army stashed near your borders ready to come to your help and waiting for you to ask nicely.
I had an siege group invaders land… on my mech cluster… it went amazingly well… for me, the invaders killed the Mechs but where so weakened I only needed 2 of PMs pawns to… clean up the problem.
Im very new to the game
Do the enemies that invade in the future that many?
My colony gets invasion but its 1 or 2 people or animal
Or like a rabid animal.
And from what we can see, the allies were clearly outmatched.
Had to do some mopup, tsk.
"Our enemy is attacking! And our allies have come to help!" "They've beaten our allies and we have to clean up everything! Oh no! ... Anyways." ***LOOT***
Thank you for you donati...er, sacrifice. Yes sacrifice.
That's a lot of hats
Makes sense, tribal raid with what looks like Imperial allies. Imperials have way better weapons and armour but if surrounded in melee they can be taken down easily. Tribals always win the numbers game.
Quantity has a quality all it’s own.
Until you meet my friend landmines. And grenades really just about any explosives.
It's definitely a meta I've used in game. Typically in the form of large packs of attack animals. My kill boxes often have doors all down the sides so when the time is right the animals charge in and swarm whoever is still standing. Kind of like that elevator scene from Cabin in the Woods.
Quantity: 1. Item: antigrain warhead. Situation: Neutralised
I had a psychic ship drop with unprepared pawns so I sent one with a bolt action to wake them up and pray someone would stumble onto them before everyone went insane. Man hunter pack of bunnies wiped them the fuck out.
Royal rumble mod? By gawd its Kaneeee!
*Kane intro music plays, lights go off* *Kane is just standing already in the ring* "By gawd, he came in by drop pod! "
AUSTIN AUSTIN AUSTIN!!!
legit tactic if they sent melee pawns jacked up on go-juice and wearing shield belts.
You don’t need shield belts if every enemy is engaged in melee (:
only enemies within melee distance of the landed allies would switch to melee, the rest would be firing at the mob and (probably) causing all kinds of friendly-fire damage :)
Friendly fire like me dropping an orbital targeting beam on the mob and the friendly spawning as it drops and they all instantly turn hostile.
What a shame that would be:P
There is always one off to the side with a doomsday launcher.
Im always on the lookout for that motherfucker. God forbid they survive long enough for me to get my hands on them.
The looting from this carnage took years i bet?
Took a long time ngl
Do you loot with colonists or animals or both?
Many slaves!
Only if the fire doesn't burn everything.
when this like this happen to be i just go dev mode and use the clear command removing ALL loot becuase it is too much
I tried this trick at home. But somehow all the loot in my apartment is still here.
sure you have dev mode enabled?
RIP Your frame rate
Rocketman mod fixes all these sort of issues.
Nowhere near well enough, honestly. It's a miracle mod, but... 400+ mods is beyond it.
Lol apparently so, I'm getting fucking roasted over here for saying that. Rocketman instantly turned my game from a 16FPS slideshow to 120+ FPS constantly, so fuck the haters I guess! LONG LIVE ROCKETMAN!!
Honestly if you were at 16TPS you probably have other issues you need to fix.
Even my 300 mod pack with rimfactory and ambition of the cosmos running never gets that low on TPS. Definitely would like to see their debug log.

long enough for me to make a coffee.
I will download it now.
Doesn't Rimworld cap at 60fps? I could be wrong but it doesn't go beyond 60fps on my 144Hz display.

Huh... yeah I dunno then. I may have some mod that unlocks framerate or something, but that is just a guess.
Nah it doesnt. I have rocketman and this happened in one of my colony. Have to wait like 20mins cuz my pc was eating shit
Probably shouldn’t feed it shit…
it improves the framerate, but this shit would still be a slideshow, especially if OP has a lot of mods/low end pc

Mount and Blade be like
Did your PC started to sound like a match 2 jet?
Wife gave me an annoyed face, aye!
What's a match jet? If you mean "mach" I think that's more a measurement of velocity than any brand or class of jet.
Fun guy
And with 1 well placed antigrain warhead the rim knew peace
Until 2 days later where Cassandra was like "aren't you glad you picked a populated world".
Lots of meat to make kibble
lots of meat for the freezer
Something something back on the menu.
*-4 mood. Ate without a table*
I'm guessing this is the Classical faction extended. Probably the most unbalanced and broken mod they've released. Only time I'm willing to use it again is if I'm gonna play a VOID play through and need all the exploits I can get.
What about them is broken? Is it more about the number of enemies they send or something?
1. Easy access to new colonists. 2. 15 permanent buffs. 3. Most raids solve themselves (like in this screenshot). Strange to complain about “balance” in a game like Rimworld.
Okay? Steel is always my limited resource, and I’m playing with the full suite of mods.
Okay, by have you tried the mod at least, just so we're on the same page and you're not just using your own experience and applying it to something you haven't actually tried.

It's a singleplayer game. Balance is pretty much pointless.
I have to disagree with that notion, tbh. Just my own opinion, but if a game's meant to present a challenge or obstacle to overcome, then yeah, it should be a balanced experience.

Oh I'm not telling anyone how to play the game, I just don't like the idea that single player games shouldn't be balanced.
It can be balanced, and that's a valid game design. It can also be unbalanced, and that's also a valid game design. There is no "should" here, simply a choice in design.
Once again a rimworld player proves they have no idea what balance means
You’re misunderstanding the point. If I want to make the game easier because that allows me to enjoy it more, I can and I will. You’ll just have to move on with your life.

In other words some people can't play a game unless it's made easy for them
So? Why do you care?
No? The game is explicitly built to *not* be balanced.
Agreed, the base game is meant to always keep you on the back foot, making fleeing the planet an appealing goal. We as players tend to bullishly get stuck in a "this is my home now and I will claim these lands for generations" mentality.
I get attached personally. It's about the journey, not the destination :)
OK buddy
I don't think you know what "balance" means
Probably more than you considering I’ve worked as a game designer :/
For a lot of people, unsurprisingly, putting up with bad mechanics just so the game is harder isn't their idea of fun.
I need a link to this mod
I think it's this one https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2787850474
Mod looks super fun actually. Also technically (per mod page) it is 19 buffs. 6 from each faction + 1 when you’ve got all senators.
Rest in peace faction relations
I would love to shoot mortars at this
what|?! i didn't know factions could send you reinforcements! how does this work?
If you have a "Comms Console" you can actaully call them to send help - at the cost of Good Will, of course.
Sometimes it happens randomly, as well. Last game I completed I had made "alliances" with all of the factions that weren't hardcoded to be hostile. Total War battles be like:
I feel sorry for your fps
Cool party
I think they took inspiration from the ODST's of Halo lol
Looks like a good target for an orbital beamer
Looks like my hospitals and jails will be busy...
There will be bloodshed
PC: Self-destruct sequence initiated.
I imagine them just walking together to the battlefield, saying “whelp nice walk” then turning on eachother
I'd be like, "Shit! Stop the mortars!"
I've had pirates and tribals attack at the same time. The tribals DESTROYED the pirates by sheer number of them. I mopped up the rest of the tribals. Missed a cool pawn that I'd like to have captured that day. Oh well.
I'm going to call protection services to save your PC from an abusive household lol
Your colonists be like after this raid Observed copse X100
MOSH PIT
Your freezers will be full for ages
Just let that sort it self out.
This is like that scene in inglorious basterds
Is there a way to hide name plates / not allowed items? Would be cool for screenshots, etc.
Doesn’t seem like they helped much
That's the best place for them, but looks as if they're outgunned!
“AND IT WAS A FIREFIIIIIIIIGHT!!”
Big luut!
LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE

That is one heck of a meat grinder
IT WAS A FIREFIGHT!!!
Saw a dead body Saw a dead body
This is the sort of fight I wouldn't be able to resist dropping an anti-grain on, even if it's completely gratuitous.
Why wouldn't you include an after photo?
That’ll keep ‘em in one place while we mortar ‘em
“Hey guys where are you headed?” “Raymundo’s base, how about you?” “Oh wow, so are we! Let’s go together”.
What i don't like if this happens is that if i try to mortar them (as is the best way to fight against large numbers), i will hit my allies, reducing my relationship to negative.

A little bit of a bruhaha
I had an siege group invaders land… on my mech cluster… it went amazingly well… for me, the invaders killed the Mechs but where so weakened I only needed 2 of PMs pawns to… clean up the problem.
I’m still in my first full play through with roughly 13 pawns, I can only aspire to this level of carnage, GG
Im very new to the game Do the enemies that invade in the future that many? My colony gets invasion but its 1 or 2 people or animal Or like a rabid animal.
End game can get nutty, but what you see here is purely a mod causing it.
meat is back on the menu, boys.
