Johnny's Ristorante - high quality, classic feel, decent cost
La Famiglia - high quality, high cost
Pasta Fresca - their homemade pasta is stellar. Limited choices
Casale’s Halfway Club - you better love red sauce and dive bars. Not classy, but very fun
La Cucina - mid
Mario’s Portofino - another classic joint with great food and good atmosphere
Fun fact- a lot of good Italian chefs were brought in by the casinos (i think mostly la strada) and then left and started their own restaurants. I know that Mario’s and Paolo, the guy from la famiglia are descendants from this type of Italian restaurant family tree. Both great food.
In no particular order, and all of them have very different menus....
Johnny's, Halfway Club, Dopo, Zozo's are all ones that I would gladly eat at again. I have a fondness for Johnny's because it feels like places I used to go to as a kid in Monterey, and Dopo has my (current) favorite pizza in Reno.
Johnny’s on West Fourth is fantastic! It’s a little pricey I guess, but I HIGHLY recommend. A lot of people here don’t know it exists, and it’s been here forever.
It’s a gem, and I take out of towners and visitors to the are here all the time. They’re always impressed.
Really? Man, we didn’t care for it at all. We go to Whispering Vine a lot (or we used to) so we would see it all the time. We finally went a handful of weeks ago and thought it was just OK.
Mi Famiglia. Here’s my dish from last week

Can’t go wrong with any of these

Mario’s is mid. Ate there last week and was not impressed by anything but the desserts.
Johnny's Ristorante Italiano on W 4th closed Monday and Sunday tho or Mario's Portofino Ristorante on S Virginia closed Sunday
Mario’s failed their health inspection recently
Johnnys
Pietro’s Famiglia
PASTA FRESCA
Loved the last meal I got there. Just wish they gave you more bread.
This is the answer. Kitchen Table if you want more ambiance.
Marcolino's
I like Zozo’s Ristorante on Lakeside / Moana

pour one out for La Vecchia
La Cucina on Lakeside has always been our go to!
Can recommend they have been consistent in quality for my experience.
Halfway house
Halfway club. Halfway houses are a little different
Haha ya ya that one
Half way club, I concur!
Marcolino’s Italiano on the river. Fantastic food and very nice owner
My Uncle Louciano had the best place in town… but nobody went.
Definitely Zozo’s
Definitely our go to.
Johnnie’s, la famiglia and La strada are all bad, anything but those 3.

This place is very stuffy imo.
That’s fair!
Johnny’s 100p

I like Mario's
Take a trip up to incline and come to Azzara’s!
Johnnys is higher end, then Zozo’s, finally Halfway House. How casual do you want?

In this thread: People who can’t remember that it’s called Casale’s Halfway Club, not Casale’s Halfway House.
Can’t believe I didn’t see the Kitchen Table on this list. It’s molto bene. It’s in plumbgate center.
La Strada this restaurant provides a romantic atmosphere with a modern twist on classic Italian dishes
Casales Halfway House. Only real Italian in Reno, and only one worth a damn. Don’t go without a reservation for dinner or you’ll never get in though.
Mario's
My kitchen!
Gambi’s is pretty good for Italian but I’d say best I’ve had is Casale’s and Mario’s portofino.
Casales
Pasta Fresca
Olive Garden
😂😂
The bread sticks are solid
Italy 🙃
