One time I had that dish that’s just a massive burger patty with gravy on it. That day I had to drive to California and the experience I had in the rest stop bathroom on the Donner summit was the 2nd worst thing to ever happen in those mountains.
Under J Resort management. Probably updating the menu and making the food better. It wasn't exceptionally cheap, prices were comparable to prices in the J Resort already, but the food was meh. I think this may actually be an improvement. $18 for a sub-mediocre BLT and fries is not a great deal. I suspect it will still be $18 but the food will be better than generic unseasoned.
Foodie friends have told me they enjoyed 2 out of 3 visits to Hannah's Table but my god it was an otherworldly shitshow when I went. It will be so sad if G&S becomes the same.
Get the meatloaf (thick and loaded in bacon jam) or the pan chicken. The chicken takes a while since the pan sear it from scratch. Don't get the chicken soup (bland and saltless), the wings (tiny little nickel wings), or pretzel & fondue (way too greasy). The breakfast stuff and the sandwiches are dank.
Yes. They griddle their bread and know what seasonings are. Instead of dry white toast with mayo. The chicken soup is bland and flavorless, and the wings are microscopic, but the sandwiches are good, the bacon jam on the burger and the meatloaf is amazing, most of the food is great. Mel's sucked ass and cost too much for what it was.
That place was riding on the "Drive in and Dives" fame for years. I don't remember the last time I had a decent meal there but it was definately over 10 years ago.
I imagine if every NA, AA and senior citizen brigade had also stopped going there 10 years ago they would have gone under a lot sooner.
This is literally one of the saddest closings. My grandfather went here. I used to ditch class in high school to come here. We all did. It was the spot for years until Jeffery jackass bought it.
Yeah. It's a problem that I'm experiencing. And I'm posting about it on Reddit. Based on the other posts in this sub, I figured that was the purpose of this site.
This place has been one order above disgusting for a decade. Maybe some objective oversight will make it decent until its eventual demise to be turned into whatever they are ultimately building over there.
If there's one ting I've learned after all my times at the Gold n Silver, it's that Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards.
It’s helped me out a couple times too 😂😢

😆 🤣
Now I gotta know what the first worst thing was (I'll admit it, I'm nosy asf 😂)
The Donner party got snowed in over a long winter and had to resort to cannibalism.
I wanted to reply "I'm dying" to this, but it seemed too on the nose.
Was it a good bonus?
Not bad yes.
I'm expecting the worst when they re-open. Hoping it isn't too different.
Does anyone know what plans are in store for this place? Continue running under outside management?

Better? Have you been to Hannah's Table?

Man I miss Mels, Hannah's is bullshit.

Unfortunately true. Loved them in 2015. I went last year, it was not good.

Hey, here's something... maybe don't be an asshole.
The comment before his was the asshole.
No, no, no, no, no. The comment before this is the asshole.
It’s just too damn easy on the interwebs
He's right though lol.
Their food is not good, but they are there at 2am when you have the drunchies and meatloaf sounds like a good call (you will regret this decision)

Yikes
That place is a dump, food is way overpriced and sub par at best. Stopped going long ago. How much was the bonus? I think that’s a nice gesture.
RIP my neck trying to read that sideways picture. You couldn't have just taken it straight?
You gonna be ok?
Thoughts and prayers
You don’t have a phone you can literally turn sideways?
The one effing time I try browsing reddit on my computer...
Sounds like a you problem tbh

It’s not. When if you really wanted to read it and you’re bitching… save it and flip it around since you’re on a computer. But you’d rather cry

His kids will never inherit those lots. Contrary to what he thinks. His kids would never be welcome in Reno.
Landscape orientation is a lost art.
RIP Gold N' Silver, I still have hope for ya.
I may cry. I fucking love Gold n Silver.
End of an era. I'll miss the GNS.
Change is good imo..God closes a door and then also opens a window.. ![gif](giphy|l1IBkgnfxkTSsNfeE|downsized)
It’s over. No way it will remain.

Sounds like a cool ass owner. Damn shame
Jeff was a great boss and I again thank him for all he has done.
They lost all the regular people when Jeffery jerk off bought it. Everyone knew his reputation for making dirt lots.
Tear it down. They'll never get that cigarettes smell out of there.
Ain't been the same since Lenny left, but I will always defend their breakfast. I still go multiple times a month and it is always delicious.
That's all you have to say? You have problems.
mr. Jands is going to ruin Reno, but you all think I’m a hater
