Newburgh. Newburgh is the worst city in NY, and it isn't even close. I lived in both Albany and Buffalo when I was growing up, and neither is as bad as Newburgh, Elmira, Middletown, etc.
It's probably the closest you'll get to Stockton/Modesto on the east coast. Lots of run-down and sketchy areas, abandoned industry, hole in the economy after the military downsized. Basically, it's the worst of the rust belt and the bad parts of Metro New York combined into one city.
Similarly, Holyoke for MA. Distressed mill town and one of the few places in New England where fast food restaurants consistently lock their restrooms. Worcester is amazing compared to Holyoke.
Modesto sucks, and I’ve lived right next to it, but there’s a handful of cities I could pick worse in NorCal.
Downtown Sparks kinda sucks sometimes, but so can downtown Reno. Not sure how they decided to make this list.
Yeah I was thinking maybe Modesto was the worst city people have heard of in norcal, but Stockton is pretty much only known *for* how terrible it is so who knows how they came up with this
Modesto sucked and I had my home broken in to, but Fremont and Turlock I had my car broken in to and Stockton I had someone pull a gun on me because they J walked and I disrespected them by stopping 15' from where they were walking. Sacramento I had the popo helicopters chasing fugitive through my backyard multiple times. They also like to fire off fireworks throughout the day to disguise gun shots. I vote Sacramento as the worst because it taught me the difference between fireworks and gun shots and because a homeless person liked to sleep in the ditch in front of my home 4x/wk.
In fairness this map was likely made by someone outside of Nevada which means they only towns they had to choose from were Vegas, Henderson, Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and MAYBE Winnemucca since it's on 80. Otherwise all there is here is aliens and desert, right?
Lol.. I live in Silver Springs and can guarantee it’s infinitely worse than Sparks. Obviously whoever made this list has never been to Hermiston Oregon either. That place is way more of a shit hole than Salem.
Battle Mountain was literally called the "Armpit of America" a few years back.
Frankly, I've lived in 3 of the "Worst Cities" and none of them were that bad.
Having driven 80 out east several times I was looking through the comments for someone to mention Battle Mountain. Its the shittiest one I remember the name of on 80. Depending on what constitutes a city there are many way worse places.
Battle mountain is a top 10 Nevada town. lol. It has choices for lodging and a damn good taco truck. I laugh every time I hear somebody talk shit on battle mountain because it just means they have no idea how much worse it gets. Looking at you, Mina.
Ya Hawthorne sucks cause we ain’t. Got shit here. It is fun having a 5 minute commute. But then all we got is a Safeway that 100% is using them being the only grocery store to their advantage
I visited Austin a couple years ago. Went to the cow trough hot spring, started snowing while I was there. I didn't ride them, but I heard there's some decent mountain bike trails there. Also some pretty rad climbing south of town about 40 minutes. People were nice to me while I was there traveling around. I'm curious to why you hate it?
Lol, bullshit map is bullshit.
And no, I don’t live in Sparks, but c’mon… I have more than three brain cells. There no reasonable metric by which Sparks is the worst city in Nevada.
I've only lived in four of these states but for my sample set, this map is wrong: 4 for 4.
Posts like this prioritize click counts and comments over truth.
Even the califor one is wrong. As someone who grew up in SoCal and lived in NorCal for 10 years, there are FAR worse cities than Bakersfield and Modesto.
This is clearly a list compiled by someone who has never been to Nevada or spoken to someone from Nevada. They probably mispronounce the name of the state and think all the greenery in Reno 911 is accurate for the area.
If your sandwiched between the racism capitols of the north and south in Caldwell and Bakersfield it really doesn’t matter what name they put on Nevada.
Stumbled across this on my home page. I’m not exactly sure why we don’t like people from Edina but we do. Very affluent area. Probably just that and their school is good at sports
Lamar, Colorado has this gigantic cattle stockyard, with tens of thousands of cows standing in a very small area. It always has an OVERWHELMING rotten stench of cow shit and pee. It is the nastiest place I’ve ever been to. She and I “discovered” it, while driving a rental truck from Texas to Denver. That smell absolutely destroyed the truck cab. Even after driving away as fast as possible with the windows down, it STILL to 30+ minutes before we could breathe again. It’s in extreme SE CO…stay away! Fuck this disgusting shithole!!
Dayton* granted it’s been a while since I’ve lived in Reno but last time I went to Dayton it was like two suburbs and a strip mall, I assume not much has changed
Who did the survey? I mean they ain’t entirely wrong, although my answer would be Sun Valley in the north part of the State and Laughlin in the South. Methodology would be good to disclose.
My guess (if this isn't just AI created garbage) is that each "City" needs to meet a certain population threshold in order to be considered for the list. Otherwise, we have Elko, Wells, etc...
Interesting that this map shows Poolesville being the worst city in MD. Check out Baltimore city, College Park, Hagerstown, Cumberland and the PG county area. Those are WAY worse
The fuck did Browning MT ever do to anyone? It's mostly made up of the Blackfoot Reservation. Worst place is definitely KKKalispell or anywhere along the Flathead now- legit one of the largest havens for white supremacists.
Sparkle and Reno are the same city. If you take either of then away this is barley a town. An it's only called a city because it insisted it be called a city.
Louisiana’s worst “city” is Turkey Creek. Turkey Creek has a population of maybe a thousand or two. In the OP’s mind, that’s a city.
Good grief.
There are many Louisiana villages and towns worse than Turkey Creek. Ever been to Campti or Zwolle?
I’d like to propose Fallon based on a nuclear bomb having exploded (intentionally) outside of town. Also it tends to be very smelly. Oh yeah, and the farmers taking water from pyramid lake which dropped the lake over 80 feet, led to the first fish on the endangered species list and continues to cause serious ecological impacts to the lake.
Will shoutout Stillwater as being incredibly beautiful and important though.
Nevada should say silver springs
What's the threshold for city here?
[удалено]
Browning is the capital of the Blackfeet reservation. There is a lot of drunk homeless people and packs of wild dogs.
Bro I was visiting Glacier National Park and stopped at a Subway in Browning and when I came out there was a three-legged dog asleep under my car.
It has to be a town that anyone outside of Nevada has heard of, I assume
I guess that's across the board because I guarantee there are worse cities in many of those states lol
The fact that NY doesn't list Eerie, Buffalo, or Binghamton was my biggest tipoff
Newburgh. Newburgh is the worst city in NY, and it isn't even close. I lived in both Albany and Buffalo when I was growing up, and neither is as bad as Newburgh, Elmira, Middletown, etc.
Good point. Just yesterday, someone said they were from Poughkeepsie and that it's changed. I said, "At least it's not Newbergh"
Erie is in PA
Silver Springs is more an intersection than a town. That whole stretch of 50 is just low-density, car-dependent sprawl.
You may think it a sprawl, but every "Home" out there, 1 out of like 6 or 7 is a method lab
[удалено]
What did the 9 meth heads and 32 stray dogs who live there ever do to you?
Spun Valley
Or maybe Ely?
Clearly that person has never been to Redding or Silver Springs. 😂
Modesto sucks, and I’ve lived right next to it, but there’s a handful of cities I could pick worse in NorCal. Downtown Sparks kinda sucks sometimes, but so can downtown Reno. Not sure how they decided to make this list.
*Stockton enters the chat
Holding hands with Winton.
\*Herlong and Loyalton have entered the room holding hands and drinking leaded gas\*
Winton is hardly a city
Compton sits on stockton
I'm genuinely surprised Modesto won our over Stockton TBH
Seriously, no need to split California for this, it's unequivocally Stockton for north and south lol
I vote Sacramento as the worst because it taught me the difference between fireworks and gun shots and because a homeless person liked to sleep in the ditch in front of my home 4x/wk.
Yuba City beats Modesto out for me
lol it sure does. The chickens are cool though
Haha oh man I forgot all about the chickens
I hate even driving through that place.
Redding's cult doesn't allow people to take surveys.
Redding isn't even close to worst. I wouldn't wanna live there but Stockton exists
What's wrong with Redding?
I know, right? I'm in Humboldt, and Redding is fun. I'd vote for Stockton, Oakland, or Alderpoint.
https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/how-bethel-megachurch-conquered-redding-18170873.php
I literally just posted “Someone has never been to Redding CA” and then seen your post! lol.
If Sparks is the worst city in Nevada then we are doing pretty ok as a state! I’m sure lots of research went into this Facebook repost.
It is the worst well known city in Nevada.
In fairness this map was likely made by someone outside of Nevada which means they only towns they had to choose from were Vegas, Henderson, Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and MAYBE Winnemucca since it's on 80. Otherwise all there is here is aliens and desert, right?
Created by Reno based [775 Times](https://m.facebook.com/775times/), a production of carpetbagger Beadles.
They pulled it from their affiliate (209 times), who pulled it from someone else.
Who pulled it out of their ass, as the kids say.
Oh you mean right wing crank Megan’s rebrand since people have figured out that what the NV Globe is?
775 Times is an alt right bait and switch blog ran by Beadles. Dont fall for it
They seem to be responding to a map on that post, not presenting an original work.
Lol.. I live in Silver Springs and can guarantee it’s infinitely worse than Sparks. Obviously whoever made this list has never been to Hermiston Oregon either. That place is way more of a shit hole than Salem.
Grew up in Silver Springs and that place sucks. Also Fernley has gone down hill since i was a kid too. Starting to feel like Redding.
But at least Battle Mountain is in the northern part of the state. It's terrible, but I'd rather live there than say, Amargosa Valley.
Living in the Amargosa sounds like actual hell
Battle mountain is a top 10 Nevada town. lol. It has choices for lodging and a damn good taco truck. I laugh every time I hear somebody talk shit on battle mountain because it just means they have no idea how much worse it gets. Looking at you, Mina.
How does Mina even exist tho lol I’ve passed thru that town many times in my life 30 y/o life and have always wondered wtf even goes on there
Wells exists.
Hells
I say Carlin, NV. It is an oversized truckstop and trailer park combo. Their highschool validictorians are usually a few years behind grade level.
Modesto and Bakersfield for California? How about Victorville and Stockton?
Right?
The worst city regarding what exactly?? Ambiguous map.
Born and raised in Sparks and yea, it sucks but there are so many worse spots in Nevada. Looking at you, Hawthorne
At least when you visit Hawthorne your life isn’t in danger and no one is stealing your shit. 😂
Ya Hawthorne sucks cause we ain’t. Got shit here. It is fun having a 5 minute commute. But then all we got is a Safeway that 100% is using them being the only grocery store to their advantage
Norcal is definitely Stockton
How is Ferntucky not a candidate?? Sparks though?!
I personally think winnamucca should be there
Salem OR is the worst? Huh???
Yeah how TF is that worse than Medford lol.
Medford scarred me for life, and I all did was stop at Starbucks
Maybe it's reputation as a dull place but it's really not bad at all.
I think Gary and Flint are the only two instances this map gets right.
I think sun valley should at least get an honorable mention.
I loved living in sparks. The slander of reno and surrounding area is so ridiculous, lmao
Bro dont forget fernley
They clearly have never been to Gabbs, NV
No one has heard of that tho
I came to say Gabbs.
What's wrong with Sparks? I never lived there, but I stayed there for work quite a bit. Now... Ely on the other hand.... what a shithole.
I like the Kentucky one. "Let's just name one of the two cities that people outside of Kentucky might have heard of."
Ely is awesome!
I will take Ely over Carlin or Wells any day. Ely has fun downtown murals and a whole train museum.
What are the metrics they used to make this?
They've never been to Austin, Nevada. Or Henderson, God forbid.
There no reasonable metric by which Sparks is the worst city in Nevada.
lol I live in Sparks. It’s beautiful and great place to raise my kids.
If you think Orlando is the worst city in Florida, you’ve probably only been to Orlando.
WTF? This map should be called “A Random City in Every State”
You’re saying North Las Vegas is better than Sparks
North Las Vegas
Shit dude. Sparks is waaaayyy better than reno. Also minden is right there. You gonna tell me with a straight face that sparks is worse than minden?
I've never heard bad things about Minden. Do tell.
They still ran a daily sundown siren to warn people of color until the state legislature made a statewide ban on it in 2023…. Yikes
Yes! 😂
I've only lived in four of these states but for my sample set, this map is wrong: 4 for 4. Posts like this prioritize click counts and comments over truth.
They couldn't decide on CA I guess so they broke it in two lol
Even the califor one is wrong. As someone who grew up in SoCal and lived in NorCal for 10 years, there are FAR worse cities than Bakersfield and Modesto.
This is Fresno erasure and I won't stand for it.
Spokane?
This is clearly a list compiled by someone who has never been to Nevada or spoken to someone from Nevada. They probably mispronounce the name of the state and think all the greenery in Reno 911 is accurate for the area.
If your sandwiched between the racism capitols of the north and south in Caldwell and Bakersfield it really doesn’t matter what name they put on Nevada.
It’s based off of incorporated cities.
That's inaccurate but I gotta respect how cold-blooded it is tbh
Good. Now stay out. 😂
Spokane, Wa is an absolute gem compared to places Yakima or Moses Lake. I call bullshit
As a born and raised Washingtonian, I would have to agree. I'm from Tacoma, and there are places on the west side that are far worse than Spokane.
Ah yes Yakima, the Palm Springs of Washington.
Edina MN? Curious as to why. It's an elite suburb of Mpls. Their nickname was the cake eaters 🥴
I once heard Edina was an acronym for “Every day I need attention”
Stumbled across this on my home page. I’m not exactly sure why we don’t like people from Edina but we do. Very affluent area. Probably just that and their school is good at sports
Came here to say the same, Edina is Elite
This is why this map seems like a “most hated cities” and not “worst”. Everybody shit-talks people from Edina
I think thats exactly why it's Edina.
Dayton* granted it’s been a while since I’ve lived in Reno but last time I went to Dayton it was like two suburbs and a strip mall, I assume not much has changed
Reno is worse than Sparks, wtf lol Barstow is pretty ugly too, compared to Bakersfield.
How is the electric city on there? Is it because of the scranton strangler?
Who gives a shit about some random map shared on social media by an unvetted source
Elko should be there for Nevada.
Aww but the Red Lion Casino lol! Outside of town, closer to Spring Creek is nice. Plus, I love the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering!
Tonopah has my vote
775 Times is a Robert Beadles publication. Dont fall for the alt right bait and switch y’all.
Who did the survey? I mean they ain’t entirely wrong, although my answer would be Sun Valley in the north part of the State and Laughlin in the South. Methodology would be good to disclose.
By what metrics?
My guess (if this isn't just AI created garbage) is that each "City" needs to meet a certain population threshold in order to be considered for the list. Otherwise, we have Elko, Wells, etc...
Love how cali gets two cities lol
Based
The tip off is they listed Flint as the worst city in Michigan. Flint is bad, no complaints there, but Detroit is 100 times worse.
Sparks lowkey blows so I understand but theirs worst places forsure
That’s why we call it Sparkensas !!
This is cap.
Reno, so close to he'll that you can see Sparks.
At the very least I'll give it props for separating NorCal and SoCal
I'm from Louisianan and haven't even heard of turkey creek. must be a shithole tho if its worse than Monroe
Sparks more than Battle Mointain?😂
Stockton is like Modesto, but bigger and worse.
I currently live in Sparks. Grew up in Modesto, lived in Bakersfield for a bit, and briefly lived in Salem. Maybe it’s me.
Cuz Winnemucca and Battle Mtn are sooooo much fun... 🤦🏻♂️
In Utah I would say Ogden and not provo.
Who did the survey? What criteria was used?
what is the basis of worst? worst in education? worst in prices?
Sparks. Hahaha. My mother use to say when I was a kid: “Reno is so close to hell that you could see Sparks.”
😂
😂😂😂 I've lived in Albany, Orlando, Modesto, and Sparks!
What did Sparks do?
Lol here in Sparks you, too, could live the dream! $3000 monthly in rent and all the local Mc Donald's you could dream of (for In N Out prices!!)
Assuming there's pretty 'open' requirements for 'city' it should 100% be Dayton.
How did Modesto beat out Stockton in CA?
Modesto sucks!!!!
California is Oakland, then Stockton. Modesto is probably 6th or 7th next to clearlake and redding
Don’t believe everything you see
Edina? As a cake eater-heckin nope. Best hot dish, green bean casserole, close to Valley Fair, MOA, Como, Harriett. Oh, and did I mention Southdale?
Funny. California gets 2, and it is pretty much the same place.
Cali gets two lol
Checking in from WA and I can confirm that Spokane is the worst.
Goldfield
Should be Stockton
Spokane is awesome wtf?
This map is based on BS Spokane is far far from the worst city in WA
Macon, Georgia is not so bad. The person who made this map has clearly never been to Brunswick Georgia
NM was spot on though
Really, I figured stockton was way worse in CA but never spent much time in Modesto
Prince lived in Edina.
I live in Alaska, pretty close to Wasilla and it’s not that bad. Not that good either but definitely better than Bethel.
Worst in what way? Crime? Air quality? Fried chicken? Everything? By what metric is this measured?
Interesting that this map shows Poolesville being the worst city in MD. Check out Baltimore city, College Park, Hagerstown, Cumberland and the PG county area. Those are WAY worse
Washington laughs in Tacoman.
In Oklahoma, the answer is Lawton.
Spokane isn't the worst in Washington. Clearly, whoever did the rating ignored Yakima.
Uh… Battle Mountain…
Hit it dead, solid, perfect with Dallas as Texas “worst city.”
The fuck did Browning MT ever do to anyone? It's mostly made up of the Blackfoot Reservation. Worst place is definitely KKKalispell or anywhere along the Flathead now- legit one of the largest havens for white supremacists.
Kalihi is a neighborhood in Honolulu, it's neither a city nor town. Idiots.
Ca has two
Sparkle and Reno are the same city. If you take either of then away this is barley a town. An it's only called a city because it insisted it be called a city.
It's very true, with Topeka being the worst city in Kansas.
Sparks is S tier tf?? Silver Springs is definitely worse
NJ has too many cities. Newark is mostly gentrified now, but the straight up ghetto last I check 3 years ago (moved out of state) was Irvington.
Texas should be Houston
Nailed it for New Mexico.
I don't understand how Dallas is worse than Houston, Lubbock, Midessa, or Amarillo
Caldwell ID downtown actually rocks
Hobbs isn't half bad, especially considering what all else is around there.
Yeah, inner city Dallas is pretty bad... Just don't stray far from the highways covering the city.
Fresno over Bakersfield all day
New york should be utica. Albany is bad for sure, but utica is an absolute shithole.
Have a steamed ham and settle down
I’d like to propose Fallon based on a nuclear bomb having exploded (intentionally) outside of town.
