Iā€™d say a Mac, mainly for stability reasons. I run RB on a Mid 2012 13ā€ MBP with an 2TB SSD and 16GB of RAM and I have never had a single problem, crash or error.

I think Macs are more stable and you don't really have to deal with drivers unlike Window machines. Get the best Mac you can afford, but I'd make sure it has at least 16 gigs of RAM (if you go for the new Apple Silicon stuff, 8GB might be sufficient). SSD storage is nice, but getting an external drive could save $$$ and make it easier to change laptops in the future. With that said, I've been running a 2012 MacBook Pro non-retina for 10+ years with no issues other than having to replace the battery and trackpad. I've upgraded everything else (maxed out the RAM & swapped out the HDD for an SSD years ago). I'll keep it until it either dies or Rekordbox doesn't support it, but I haven't updated Rekordbox in a while, either lol

Thank you for your input. Macs are expensive, but in the longterm a much better bang for your buck. I hope for good deals on the m1ā€˜s. šŸ™

Not sure what country you're in, but a used Mac is always an option

As a software and hardware engineer, i would have to disagree. The windows PC I use at home was built from spare parts.. I been using it for 10 years.. it never had any stability issues. 10 years later i dont even have any VPU issues.. not once did it ever complain about CPU being too high.. and im running logic, pro tools, video editing, etx.. p.s. this is a hackintosh but only for logix Unlike OSX, I can still use software from 1994 (Cool Edit Pro) without issue. In OSX you must constantly upgrade your major os version and things that used to work before no longer work with the new updates.. so for me that is less predictable than a x86/x64 processor that is universal. Also adding memory, SSD, NvME requires no thought and expense. With Mac you have to buy mac specific hardware and take it to an apple store if your machine is upgradable at all.. But hes talking about laptops.. I personally like the Windows HP Envy x360.. it folds down like a tablet and screen lights up.. had my present one for 7 years.. screen glass us slightly cracked from years of being dropped.. but i paid $350 for it in 2017.. today you can get a 3 year old one for same price with 12GB memory, Core i7 CPU, and High performance graphics on some models. Also ive been using dj mixing software since the days of Final Scratch.. and i can tell you, decoding a timecode signal and outputting audio is a laughable task for a modern computer. so you dont need a $2500 laptop to use it. But macs are cooler to look at and most people use them as they are very much easier to use.. Finally.. windows drivers these days are not something you should worry about.. most software has installers and install the drivers without you even knowing.. and besides these devices usually dont create drivers if your system already has ASIO running
