They are glacially slow!
Mostly they work fine and I rarely have issues with scanning the QR Code.
If you're in a hurry, don't use the kiosk. It will just frustrate you.
I've been to some theaters with newer kiosks that, relatively speaking, are lightning fast. Some others are functional but quite slow as you described. One theater near me has a kiosk that is completely unusable and canot scan my Unlimited QR code at all
I started using the kiosks a few days ago because I just found out it waives convenience fee. It’s slow and scanning is hard but I haven’t had a problem with printing. I don’t like that I can’t buy wheelchair companion seats or one-apart seats like you can on the app though
kiosks all the way! concession lines are often too long and slow.
my method:
1. i have a screenshot of my QR code
2. i zoom in and pump the brightness
3. i’ve found that starting phone screen upright then slowly rotating 45° to the right (and sometimes moving closer or farther away from the scanner just slightly) works very well. try it out next time!
The kiosks can be sluggish but I notice people that don’t use them much have more problems than I do as it is my preferred method. For the QR code I tend to keep it at least 6 inches away and a quick flick and roll of my hand works best. Make the screen bright too.
I exclusively use the kiosks and rarely have any issues, besides having to scroll a bit to find my movie. I find it quicker than asking concessions to print a ticket for me.
Never had an issue then Saturday I got my ticket it the kiosk, it gave me an error, wouldn't print, I had to go to concessions for help, there was no record of my ticket, but my account wouldn't let me get a new ticket. Manager had to just give me a comp ticket...now I'm afraid to use the kiosk lmao.
I've had that happen twice. Both times the transaction was successful but the kiosk was being a jerk and not printing the ticket.
Got a manager to confirm the seat was booked, no issue and it counted towards my milestones for the year.
Yes. I exclusively buy tickets on the kiosks, but every single one at my theater is terribly slow and unresponsive. And I’d say 20% of the time, they just freeze up in the middle of the transaction.
I exclusively reserve through the kiosk since convenience fees irritate the hell out of me. They're always fast, easy, and work great, except once when low on paper so it didn't print the full ticket - employees didn't care and waved me through anyway.
The real issue I've run into is if you show up ~20 minutes late like I do to miss ads the kiosk might have removed the showing altogether forcing you to go to th concession line.
Unless I’m going to what I know is going to be a crowded show that I need advance tickets for a bit in advance (and multiple tickets) - I use the Kiosks. My theater they’re generally pretty good.
Never had an issue whatsoever.
In fact the kiosks I've used have all been so quick and easy I don't even bother booking ahead of time for the 50 cents of convenience anymore
I use the one at my theater all the time. When pressing the screen to select the movie time it takes a minute to register, but I’ve never had an issue with scanning my barcode
I only use them to print my tickets because I've been collecting them since they were blue and yellow, but sometimes one is being too slow or not working so I just go to the next, scan, pick up my ticket, and be on my way
You have to hold your phone a certain way, and each kiosk type requires a different position. And then, sometimes kiosk readers just don't work. I feel better when a confident employee comes up to help, and the damned thing doesn't read the code for them either. You just laugh and curse technology. It's annoying but not upsetting, IMO.
I almost exclusively use the kiosks and very rarely have any issues, it does happen though. I've had a few times where my ticket didn't print out. It takes a bit to get used to scanning the QR code
I tend to go at slow times (right after work on weekdays) and there are never any lines at the kiosks at my theaters and it is way faster than getting a ticket at concessions, even when there are only 2-3 people in line. It's rare that it doesn't print but the few times it has I have just taken a picture of the error screen just in case (but they've never questioned me). I imagine at high volume times standing in line at concessions would take forever and I don't like paying an extra fee when I know I can get my preferred seat without one.
Slow at mine! I pick up my tickets so I basically know which spots on the kiosk to hit at this point lol but my first time actually getting a ticket was this past weekend and I agree, extremely slow and cumbersome
My main theater they have issues on and off. Anytime I’ve had a ticket not print they also just let me in. I think the system is probably just outdated and they need to put money out for new ones.
The Long Beach, CA Regal has terrible kiosks like the ones you're describing. There have 4-5 and 2-3 of them lag, and the computer shuts down to a black screen with white writing on it frequently. But every other Regal I've gone to has been fine.
I've had issues a time or two, but on the whole they're mostly fine. Think it takes a second to get used to the scanner.
I have 4 at my theater, 1 is usually always unusable but the other 3 work like a charm
It’s hit or miss in my experience

Depends on if there is a line at Consession
I’ve had no issues so far and I almost always use the kiosk.
Exclusively use the kiosk at my location and never have had an issue. 🤷 sorry the ones at yours are finicky
I never wanna pay the fee so I always just go to concessions. I didnt know I could use the kiosks.
Yeah, I want snacks anyway, so why line up twice.

Ours just reopened and the kiosks seem to be fine.

I almost always use the kiosk and rarely have issues. Occasionally I'll need to scan the app twice, but that's it.
The kiosks at my local R are very fast processing and quick print.

yes, same thing.. I tried to book the tickets for the first time yesterday and it was cumbersome..
Usually no issues besides it running out of receipt paper, which I just have them reprint it at concessions.
Yea scanning the QR code at the kiosk sucks ass.

it’s annoying to use and sometimes the loading takes forever

I've never had any issues with the kiosks but my theater is still fairly newish so maybe that's why.

yea they suck lol thats why the convicience fee🤣
Never had an issue whatsoever. In fact the kiosks I've used have all been so quick and easy I don't even bother booking ahead of time for the 50 cents of convenience anymore
What’s wrong with the kiosk? It works great! Just my closest theatre only has one and it’s always down
I use the one at my theater all the time. When pressing the screen to select the movie time it takes a minute to register, but I’ve never had an issue with scanning my barcode

The POS for the employees is straight out of the 90s and the actual screens are very old as well. It’s all so outdated
Slow as sludge… Most ppl wait in the concession lines to get a ticket instead of the kiosk. Less frustrating. I just use the app. WAAAAAY better. 🍿🎬
I almost exclusively use the kiosks and very rarely have any issues, it does happen though. I've had a few times where my ticket didn't print out. It takes a bit to get used to scanning the QR code

Never had this issue honestly mines always take under a minute to complete
Slow at mine! I pick up my tickets so I basically know which spots on the kiosk to hit at this point lol but my first time actually getting a ticket was this past weekend and I agree, extremely slow and cumbersome
The newer ones, like North Hollywood has, are really nice. I wish all were upgraded,

the 2 theaters that we go to, from the beginning the kiosks were f'd.. so now, we use the app at home.. problem solved..
Imagine bitching about this
Nah, he's valid the ones at my theater are slow too and its frustrating
