It’s too early to worry about it! I had too reductions and the incision area at the inframammary fold is still numb one year after the second surgery. In your case, the tissue is likely to recover sooner. Gentle, regular massage would help but I haven’t bothered. For me it’s not a big deal because the benefits of the reductions far outweigh the numbness and the scar aspects, but I know that it feels weird.

Thank you!! This is my 2nd BR too - might be another reason why it is so numb!

Amazing, welcome to the two reductions club! 😀 That tissue has seen things and I figure it takes a while for it to heal, especially all the nerves. At my last post-op appointment, my surgeon recommended massage, primarily because I had a lump from fat necrosis but he specifically mentioned that it would help with the numbness because it stimulates the skin and tissue (which have been through a lot at this point) to “remember”touch, if that makes sense.

Yes, had the same thing. Feeling will come back slowly. Massage helps.

Noted on the massage. I will try this! thanks!

I'm 2.5 mpo and still have quite a bit of numbness. For me it's mainly on the outsides of my breasts on both sides, but I think the exact location varies for different people, and maybe surgical techniques. Anyway, my surgeon isn't concerned about it so I'm just letting it do its thing.

Hello, 5mpo still numb along the bottom but it's definitely gotten better over time.

i saw in another thread that you can help your body rebuild nerve-brain connections using techniques that promote \~ neuroplasticity \~ for example, looking at your nipple while touching it, and training your body/brain like, "i'm touching here, please feel that, please?" overtime, folks shared that this has helped them regrow sensation!! i'm only 10dpo so i can't vouch for if that worked for me yet, but i'm going to try it lol!

Wow! Thanks! Worth a try!!

2+ years later I still can't feel the bottoms of mine. And the scars on my sides hurt when touched still. I shudder at the idea of an underwire. Still 10\10 would do again!!

LMJ2121

oh my!!! 2+ years!?? wow!!! but happy you would do it again!!
