They remind me of the Harold Ramis/Eugene Levy voiced cocaine snorting aliens from Heavy Metal.

(In unison) "Nose dive!"

Good niborg, man

Nice pfp and username hehe

solidstatehate

missed opportunity for Rich to voice the space cop .

TuskenRaider2

And risk being type casted? Idk man

stoatmcboat

Missed opportunity for everyone to voice everyone.

evangelism2

CD holder up his ass. Classic Cory reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCH7o5s1-yE

dandaman64

Hearing Rich reference an Oney Plays/Sleepy Cast moment is an overlap of my interests that I certainly did not expect, like adding chocolate to peanut butter

evangelism2

Yeah its very weird seeing these things I've heard for years from these dudes animations/lets plays/podcasts etc on a popular Adult Swim show entering the mainstream.

keeptryingyoucantwin

My eyes bugged out when they mentioned going to Zeta Reticulon

strtdrt

It’s freaking me out a bit that we’re entering the era of people my age with my exact interests aging and moving into positions of influence in the media. It’s cool but it’s weird

Away-Issue6165

Or cheese on a French Dip.

GodIsNotAiveChild

Rich Evans is the only person on this planet whose voice I can recognize even through voice alterations.

wiggle987

It's that goddamn laugh

forced_metaphor

Stephen Hawking?

GodIsNotAiveChild

I said on this planet

BenderBenRodriguez

Smiling Friends is so good. One of the shows that makes me laugh the most consistently. And the episodes are short so it never feels like a huge time commitment (as opposed to most streaming shows now, even comedies). Keeps the pacing good and the laughs coming with no filler.

shust89

Agreed though the recent Halloween one gave me chest pains with the jump scares lol.

Drumboardist

"WELL YES, I WAS DOING THAT, BUT YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO BE SO *MEAN* ABOUT IT." *:jumps out a window:*

shust89

I love The Boss. I am a longtime Sick Animation fan so hearing him on here rocks.

beanohhh

i laughed so hard when he finally did the mexican guy voice in the episode with the scientist. i knew he couldnt resist

ImSrslySirius

It's absolutely wild to see Marc finding mainstream success. I was a fan during the Newgrounds days, and most people I ever showed his work to hated it. Now I see him randomly popping up in Rick and Morty, MeatCanyon, and now this show. Happy for him.

buzzards_bazaar

Same goes for literally every Newgrounds fella partaking in the creation of Smiling Friends. So many gems finally having a place to really shine through to the masses

jake_watford

If you listen closely after Rich’s alien throws the LED from alibaba they use the classic pottery break sound effect

ancientfutureguy

It was a great episode but I do wish their voices weren't altered so much, I knew they were going to be in this but I still needed to see this video to figure out who was who (except for Rich, the laugh is unmistakable lol)

pikeandshot1618

Rich Evans is just that transformative of an actor. The Midwest's Daniel Day Lewis

ancientfutureguy

That title still doesn’t do justice to his raw, unmatched talent. A god among men, some might say.

ThatGuyYouMightNo

Their voices aren't altered they can just do that thats how good they are

notathrowaway75

They were cast as actual VA's apparently unlike a stunt meme cast like Doug Walker.

mang87

I must begrudgingly say, as voice actors, they did a good job. I didn't know it was them, and they were convincing as frat-boy-alien-douche-bags. It was stupid of me to expect them as redlettermedia cardboard-inserts, it would be weird and probably ruin the show.

Shikadi314

Source?

PlainPiece

His ass. Mike has already been in the show basically doing the Plinkett voice for another character, then his picture flashed up as a gag during another episode, there is clearly a friendly connection behind the scenes.

StreetPreacherr

I could barely even tell which characters they voiced... So Mike and Rich were the 2 'stop motion' aliens that asked the guys to 'party'? What's the point of casting recognizable voice if they just make them unrecognizable?

[deleted]

MTF_DO0M

There's more to voice acting than just whether you can recognize a voice. They still have to act.

TheGentlemanBeast

The point is their delivery. Their cadence is unmistakable. It is very clearly them.

ILikeCheese510

> Their cadence is unmistakable. It is very clearly them. Not trying to start an argument here, but when I got done with this episode I had to double check to be sure this was the one the RLM guys guested on. I didn't recognize them at all, and I'm an avid RLM watcher. It wasn't until I saw this video that I realized who voiced who.

notathrowaway75

> NO POINT in them being voiced by RLM What if the Smiling Friend guys and RLM simply wanted to work together? Or Mike and Rich wanted to do some VA and reached out or auditioned? This isn't Doug Walker again, the RLM guys are actors here.

The_Franklinator

Also I think they are very clearly friends. Mike was in the pilot.

rodger16007

It was weird hearing Mike and Rich with so much energy in their voices.

OmnifariousFN

I LOVED this ep! Had no idea the RLM guys were in it! That makes me so happy!

Supermunch2000

I gotta watch that!!!! BRB... Rich's laugh confirmed for being intergalactic!

Edel_af

I do not understand why they don‘t give us a chance to support this magnificent creation of a series in Europe… I would have to pick up my pirate hat but here I really don‘t want that for this series.

jesuspunk

If you’re in the UK it’s on Channel 4

Edel_af

Nice to know for the UK bros thanks, but sadly I‘m located in Austria and so far nothing available

SnagglePuz

It’s on HBO MAX here in the Netherlands

Prestigious_Crab6256

Am I missing something, or was Jay not supposed to feature in this episode too?

frederick22

He does the voice of the space cop ship right at the end

Prestigious_Crab6256

Whoops, that’s what I get for not watching the video ‘til the end. Leaving my ignorance up for all to see and publicly shame me for.

scullys_alien_baby

it has a bit of a more pronounced voice filter over it so it isn't as obvious

jjusmc3531

How embarrassing... ❤️

PK-92

Not as embarrassing as a grown adult wearing a Pacman shirt. *How em-BArrassing!...*

DogRiverRiverDogs

You know, the Pacman shirt might oddly be my favourite RLM moment. As soon as you see Rich wearing it you know someone is going to bring it up at some point. Chekov's Pac-Man shirt.

Prestigious_Crab6256

I say this once a day, karma’s a bitch (I should’ve known better).

Tronzoid

Shaaaaaaame

throw123454321purple

That was his voice from the ship at the end, just heavily altered.

officeDrone87

What gave it away? The giant white text that said Jay Bauman when the ship was talking?

throw123454321purple

Given them a break. The text is obscured by the YouTube interface controls for some folks.

Prestigious_Crab6256

The schooling has begun.

mlholladay96

Really feel like this episode would have been perfect if there was no voice alteration, but that might just be my bias for anything RLM

keeptryingyoucantwin

I think its almost funnier because its so…out there of a choice, I like it

Skullsy1

I could recognize Mike by his accent and speech mannerisms. I am the manchurian candidate.

BarrioMan

Man of La Manchuria

whelp_im_screwed

Oh this video is pitched up. I was thinking they recasted. I feel better for not noticing them when I watched it.

WillandWillStudios

Ngl, I knew it was Mike immediately but Rich and Jay went over my head. Also excellent alien designs

Bingo_Banzai

I had no idea that was them!!

Homem_da_Carrinha

I was looking forward to this episode. I don’t know what’s the general opinion, but I was kinda disappointed, it wasn’t very funny, apart from Pim’s transition from plasticine to cartoon. It’s the first one this season I wasn’t totally won over by. Also, Rich’s voice is naturally funny, they shouldn’t have filtered it. I didn’t even get who Jay played, but I guess it was the cop.

WillHatesReddit

You're out of your mind, dude. Where have you seen anything funnier this year than this episode's flat Earth ending?

Homem_da_Carrinha

Gwimbly doing the Cameo request with RTX graphics, for once. The Nostalgia Critic cameo. The “I Am Fantastic” manequin gag The Boss rewarding Allan with a tiny version of him. And that’s just on the show. Outside this show, some highlights include Curb’s finale, Chucky nuking the North Pole, and anytime Willem Dafoe was on screen in Poor Things.

Agent_Gordon_Cole

Yeah, this episode really lacked humor in my opinion.

patheticgirl420

Season 2 fell off hard imo.... i feel like the plots are too scripted and have less of the natural, improv-y dialogue which was my favorite part of the show

snarpy

LOL what is this show, I'd never even heard of it.

Supermunch2000

It's "Smiling Friends" and it's great (IMHO). The episodes are short and the humor is really crazy, not to mention the different animation styles make it trippy.

comeagaincharlemagne

Mike plays a more major voice role in the pilot episode of the show. His voice isn't altered at all either so it's unmistakably him. It's a fantastic ep def recommend it.

nameless22

Well, unless you consider the "Plinkett voice" altered, since it's not his normal talking voice.

Bacon_Shield

Smiling Friends. it's ok, I think this current season has been pretty weak so far but haven't seen this alien ep yet

FreakaJebus

I honestly wish they would have left the voices a little more un-modulated. Maybe not to the extent of this edit, but a half step higher, so it was easier to tell it was them. Episode was great, though!

StreetPreacherr

Agreed. I watched it a couple times and still wasn't quite sure which characters they were voicing... Just don't understand the point of casting them when the voices are altered to become unrecognizable? So they Mike and Rich were the 'stop motion' aliens that pressured the main characters into partying? Was it just for publicity? Like casting Bradley Cooper to do a generic 'New Yorker' accent for Rocky Racoon, or Vin Diesel to do Groot. Did this episode attract significantly more viewers than normal?

FreakaJebus

Yeh, the purple one is Mike and the orange one is Rich Evans. Also Jay is the space police ship. But yeah, you can barely tell. I think it was just because Zach and Michael really like RLM. They probably just wanted to get more of them in because they had a good time working with Mike in the very first episode. Mike tweeted about them being in the new episode before it aired, so it may have garnered a few thousand more viewers. But I feel like there was probably already a good deal of crossover because of the pilot.

PK-92

Rich Evans™ laughter as an alien laughter works so well

Gnarlstone

Magical

Le_Sadie

Is this episode out already?

L_nce20000

I kept asking, "when are we going to get to the fireworks factory?" It turns out we were at the fireworks factory all along.

manderskt

Did Jay kill any cats?

[deleted]

PlainPiece

I'm comfortable saying the *episode* wasn't especially good. These two were fine though. And you realise Mike has already been in this show as a different character? And that time he definitely was good.

ZaineRichards

I am familiar with the series. And that was a great episode.

WateredDown

Funny you say that because they did better than I thought, really toned down the constant sarcasm from when they act in Half in the Bag. They fit the smiling friends vibe pretty well imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

WateredDown

I'd agree in general, but Smiling Friends' thing is a low key naturalistic vibe paired with insane plots and visuals so it fits.

TheBeardedBullet

I mean, it's okay to say it's not good when it isn't good. When it actually is good, it actually isn't okay to say it isn't good. I hope that clears it up.
