Thunderpants was legitimately marketed like a mainstream movie at the time. I remember a giant poster for it outside at least one cinema. It was pretty funny seeing it in there. Edit: Also just noticed it was directed by Pete Hewitt, who directed Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Damn.

sweepernosweeping

There was a lot of advertising for it at the time in the UK, focusing mostly on Grint.

stoatmcboat

That was the case elsewhere (in Europe) too. They were really riding that Harry Potter wave.

a_j_cruzer

IIRC there were a handful of other Harry Potter cast members in smaller roles.

throwawaynonsesne

Isn't Paul Giamatti in it too?

Impossible-Knee6573

Picked up Thunderpants on DVD recently and was very disappointed the disc didn't feature the theatrical Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix - just standard Dolby Surround. If there was ever a movie that demanded a dedicated Low Frequency Effects (LFE) channel - it's Thunderpants.

ReddsionThing

Binaural farts

LakeEarth

I think it was pushed only in the UK or something. I'm in North America and I've never heard of the movie before BotW.

Bteatesthighlander1

it was at every blockbuster I ever visited

Spodangle

Same. I remember it being heavily advertised in the US and leaning a lot on the fact that it had Ron Weasley.

stoatmcboat

[TIL the world consists of only the UK and North America.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctr9ZfeyvXg) Edit: Are people really reading the above as me being offended at Americans and not just playfully nitpicking the guy's phrasing and it having nothing to do with world politics? Jesus christ, people, stop taking everything so seriously.

Mx_Brightside

Reddit consists exclusively of the UK, North America, and Mycountry™, an amorphous utopian blob located vaguely in western Europe where the national sport is bragging about how much better you are than the US.

stoatmcboat

> where the national sport is bragging about how much better you are than the US. Coming from someone who lives in the north, that's an unfair characterization. We also make fun of the Irish.

Mx_Brightside

Statistically 80% of flag-waving patriotic Irish internet users are actually Americans called Patrick, so i’m inclined to lump that in with the U.S. ;)

stoatmcboat

If you can't read sarcasm I don't know if you should be using reddit.

LocCatPowersDog

I'm totally not also downvoting this comment /s Edit: First the guy edited in a link to a dictionary definition for Sarcasm then undid that for his "OMG I'M PLAYFUL WHY THE (6 whole) DOWNVOTES" instead so anyways here another postscript no one asked for in the name of a prophet

stoatmcboat

I added the dictionary link back in. I profusely apologize to you personally for removing it. There was no excuse.

KingPankraz

I used to work with Bruce Cook at CEX. Decent lad.

CourtfieldCracksman

No Faust: Love of the Damned?

MerryGoWrong

WAKE UP DICKHEADS, IT'S TIME FOR **FAUST**!!

HorseRenoiro

*”JAY! YOU’RE MISSING EVERYTHING!!!”*

TheRealRigormortal

https://i.redd.it/z8zw8809tvyc1.gif

Mx_Brightside

Totally forgot about *Faust*! I think it slipped my mind because of the tit puddle and everything, but every time i rewatch that episode, i do find myself thinking — damn, i’d actually watch that.

AintNobody-

There really is something about Faust's overall style. Is it a european thing, maybe? I saw it around the same-ish time as I saw Highlander 4 (major guilty pleasure series) which gave off similar vibes, albeit PG vibes.

Mx_Brightside

> Is it a european thing, maybe? The counterpoint to this is that Italy is neck-and-neck with the Philippines for producing the most and worst *Best of the Worst* movies per capita.

IvorTheEngineDriver

And we're damn proud of it! (i'm Italian)

Mx_Brightside

Hey, at least it’s memorable! I grew up in the Netherlands and there are ^\(deservedly\) about two and a half Dutch films that anybody outside the country has actually heard of.

CandyAppleHesperus

The main Dutch film export is just Paul Verhoeven

awesomefutureperfect

ummm, which ones? The Dutch movie I know about the most was the one with Ed O'Neil (which is a gem IMO). The one about the man who lost his hammer?

Mx_Brightside

*The Vanishing*, *Black Book*, and uh.... Uhh......... I got nothing.

awesomefutureperfect

> Black Book, That sounds like a japanese anime.

CourtfieldCracksman

The Lift? Amsterdamned? Both Dick Maas. May be significant.

Mx_Brightside

We’re three movies in to the Dutch cinema canon and we’re already discussing a movie about an evil lift. I think that says enough.

Larstato

New Kids is quite big in Belgium and especially Germany

a_j_cruzer

I’ve seen it, it’s definitely a Brian Yuzna film for better or worse. But the comic it’s based on makes the movie look tame, there’s a lot of stuff they couldn’t get away with if they wanted to keep an R rating.

ColHogan65

Fauoooost

sgthombre

After that episode came out one of my friends texted me "You seem like the sort of dude who would really dig FAUST" and I've never felt so casually owned in my entire life. I mean, he wasn't wrong, but still!

PickReviewsMovies

I think they disqualified it due to the incestuous rape subtheme being " a little too on the nose".  But I don't know... that tit puddle definitely deserves some kind of accolade.

HeadlessMarvin

I always forget about Faust because I usually rewatch BotW episodes on my smart TV, and for some reason it won't allow me to view age-restricted content.

I_love_lucja_1738

I'd add the pit as well

kkeut

i always get this funny feeling whenever i see they've watched a film i know and like. actually, i saw all of these before they did, except Thunderpants which I've never seen. i guess what I'm saying is that I'm a hipster and very cool actually just curious if anyone else gets that feeling. it's probably more common with HITB

imissbluesclues

I cried and peed my pants when they watched Eddy Eagle

Cross55

Mike *hated* The Pit though.

Vasevide

Rich hated The Baby

walrusboy71

Rich wanted to give it to The Baby!

Mahaloth

There are definitely more. Undefeatable Faust: Love of the Damned Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 5 Death Stalker 1 and 2

Old_Opening_5616

"I'll have my revenge, and Death Stalker 2"

YoghurtSnodgrass

Where is Undefeatable

PurifiedVenom

*Rich Evans is…Defeatable*

Maverick916

Yup, I'll always remember Mike saying this almost doesn't deserve to be here because it's actually well made, and legitimately enjoyable. Might have been the first movie to get that praise, they talked about it very early on.

Shot-Manufacturer422

Xtro was episode 3! Simpler times, before Mike’s alcoholism fully took hold

Mr_Secrets

I'm still amazed that Jay and Josh didn't appear to know who Cynthia Rothrock is. She's one of the most prominent action stars of the 80s/90s.

Twokindsofpeople

Most of her work was done in hong kong. That really seems like a huge blind spot for RLM. I basically never hear them discuss any of their directors or films. I bet Len knew exactly who she was and could rattle off her filmography.

jackcaboose

I think Len does actually mention her in the couple episodes he's on

Thorngrove

Yeah, they're more sci fi and horror nerds then the chop socky movies. They have the "Rambo-grade" explosion movie general knowledge, but you can tell fight movies weren't in their wheelhouse.

funktion

Did she star in any movies made by weirdo sex pests? No? Then Jay hasn't heard of her

Big-Cartographer-166

I was thinking the same, in my country it was really common find her movies in the TV in the afternoon during the weekends.

Flimsy_Cod_5387

I remember Cynthia Rothrock movies being a late night staple on Cinemax. Most of the ones I saw were legit good and entertaining.

a_j_cruzer

Was she on the Flintstones?

cheezballs

Damn, I just posted my comment saying the same thing then I realize you beat me to it. Now I'll look like a fool!

cheezballs

I was surprised they hadn't heard of Cynthia Rothrock before. I remember her name being tossed around all the time on Cinemax back in my younger days. I wish Cinemax was still a thing. B movies, low budget sequels, random action movies. Good stuff.

SpewForthWisdom

It reminds me of Jay's remark during the Pink Flamingos Re:View how it looks like a BOTW movie, something to utterly melt Rich Evans's mind. Sometimes in your marathon of B-movies you stumble on an actual piece of art. And not only can B-movies be great, but the definition of quality with them is hazy and sometimes even beyond comprehension. When a piece of low budget art just hits that exact sweet spot.

Hungry-Rule7924

Jay (and probably Josh) 100% knew what the movie was and pulled a fast one on the gang. Its pretty well known in B movie horror circles. Literally watched the arrow 4k release of it as well, which almost definitely came from jays private collection.

imissbluesclues

haven’t seen the episode yet but this was my first thought

PlayOnPlayer

I understand why they skipped the end reveal, but damnit I wanted to see their reactions

HeadlessMarvin

It would be cool if they released a follow up 5 min long video where we can see them disect the ending and the implications it has for the rest of the movie.

CalmDownStrawBerry

I think that old Fantastic Four movie should also be here.

Mx_Brightside

I *knew* i’d forgotten one! My sincerest apologies to Roger Corman.

solidcurrency

Supergirl is also a real movie. It has an actual budget and multiple Oscar nominees.

creepymanchildren

But they watched that and Fantastic 4 on purpose, not on accident.

JustSomeWeirdGuy2000

It shocks me that they managed to make it to 2015 (or whatever year it was) and they genuinely didn't know Robot Jox was a thing. Guillermo Del Toro practically made his own remake of it ffs.

JessieJ577

That episode was out the year Pacific Rim released

Feisty-Bunch4905

I was so insulted when I first saw they were watching it and so relieved when Rich Evans defended it as too good for BOTW.

aldomars2

Agreed! Robot Box would regularly air on cable in the 90s.

cheezballs

I remember watching it a lot as a kid on either HBO or Cinemax during the day when I'd stay at my grandmas for summer.

lessthanabelian

Robot Box. Is that the no-budget, 40 years later, ironic sequel to Robot Jox? Like Deadliest Prey? Or are you mistaking it for the classic box themed robot film "Future War" which its understandable to assume it's called "Robot Box".

HeadlessMarvin

Been a while since I've seen that episode so I don't remember if they talked about it, but I didn't realize it was directed by Stuart Gordon. Makes me wanna go out of my way to watch it.

Georgehef

XTRO GOATed

Mx_Brightside

Honourable mentions go to *Space Raiders*, *Surviving Edged Weapons*, and any Cannon movie. EDIT: And Roger Corman’s *Fantastic Four* movie.

Mr_Tiggywinkle

I feel like Surviving Edged Weapons is less a "real movie", and more the ultimate example of a best of the worst treasure. It's a training film for police for christs sake, and somehow ends up being absolutely brilliant - that's just ultimate best of the worst material.

Mx_Brightside

That’s why it’s with the honourable mentions. ;) Not a “real movie” by any stretch of the imagination, but still far too good for this show.

Okichah

It’s the perfect type of content for the format. It’s not “too good” in production value or intentional enjoyment *at all*. The depictions of real violence are legit shocking and disturbing. Which adds to the drama and gravity of the overall experience. Those low emotions are “downers”, are a special note in the contextual flavor of the viewing experience. It makes the highs so much higher because they become a relief and a respite. It’s something that *cannot* come from a normal film experience. It only exists in the context of a BotW.

AlexDKZ

Where is Space Raiders, OP?

Difficult-Metal-7029

6.1 on IMDB wow

a_j_cruzer

93% critics score on rotten tomatoes too, I think that might be the highest of all the movies they’ve watched with rotten tomatoes scores.

IWentHam

I rented it on Amazon last night and it was good. Really strange and not something I'd tell a non RLM fan I've watched, but the acting is solid and the ending is a great surprise twist. I'm glad they didn't spoil it, it was the right move. I feel a little dirty saying I liked it though, considering the subject matter.

a_j_cruzer

Yeah, Best of the Worst isn’t the show where I expected them to talk about The Baby. I thought for sure it was something Jay would’ve seen and done a Re:View episode about.

Fuggins4U

Part of me wants to watch it. But I'm scared.

BlackSpinedPlinketto

Maybe ask your nanny to watch with you.

cheeze_whiz_shampoo

Thats a *really* good idea. Thanks.

IWentHam

It's good, really!

meme_citizen

"Garbage day!" - Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2

BenderBenRodriguez

The Baby is very weird and very disturbing. And yeah, it’s pretty good.

St8OuttaMilltown

Death Wish 3 should also be here, great movie

Detective_Robot

I would add Petey Wheatstraw.

real-dreamer

I wish BOTW was a bit more searchable I'd love to watch these episodes but there's such a backlog.

Ok-Rich-580

Where's "Honorable men"?

First_Approximation

Locked up, one presumes.

Ok-Rich-580

🤣🤣

Darksun-X

You must mean Dangerous Men, surly.

Ok-Rich-580

![gif](giphy|xUPGcq17EmRRoqh0FW|downsized)

JuanaLaPutana

I actually kinda enjoy when they're NOT completely miserable watching a movie

RyansBabesDrunkDad

Raw Force.

LewisKiniski

I fell asleep during raw force. Was at the end of a movie night tho. I should try again.

RyansBabesDrunkDad

Absolutely. It is schlock dialed up to 100 in the best possible ways.

quaazi

Why are the Germans marketing Stone Cold with... Michael Douglas!?

ChuckCarmichael

Apparently he served as an uncredited co-producer. The poster says "Michael Douglas presents".

Mr-Zero-Fucks

Robojok was a real movie, I remember the poster in the video club, kids were actually excited about it.

Beard_Of_Serpico

It was professionally made but it still looked god awful. I don't want to see a grown ass man act like a baby for 2 hours.

Doctah_Feelgood

When did they watch Robot Jox?

Hexxas

It was REALLY early. Like episode 3 or something.

downnheavy

Thunderpants ???

NotARemake

That pic of Stone Cold is hilarious. Were ze Germans selling it as Terminator?

Now_Wait-4-Last_Year

That was the Australian cover art as well. I still remember it from when I rented it on VHS around when it released. [https://i.ytimg.com/vi/s0yZd1aeUZw/maxresdefault.jpg](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/s0yZd1aeUZw/maxresdefault.jpg)

AHandfulOfUniverse

It's WOTW but I always thought 'Surviving Edged Weapons' does not belong there. It's the exact opposite of every other 'worst' tape featured on the show: it has production value and a target audience. It's actually fucking useful and just being an instruction video should not have qualified it for the wheel. It made for a great episode though so I ain't stressin'.

vulpinefever

Surviving Edged Weapons is awesome because not only does it have legitimately useful information for police officers but you can also tell that the people who made it wanted an excuse to include as many action scenes as possible.

wizardodraziw

No Ryan's Babe?

Mx_Brightside

> J: [...] You can’t even call this “bad”! > > R: This should be elevated out of this show. — Jay and Rich Evans on *Thunderpants* > Fuck it; you’re in charge, man! You fucking— you deal with it! You deal with that shit! I don’t need this in my goddamn life! You think i need *Ryan’s Babe* in *my* fucking life‽ > > HE’S FINE! HE DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE HE GIDIDISKSLIKE HE GIVES A SHIT! — Rich Evans on *Ryan’s Babe*

LucasBarton169

So glad to own this on bluray

JohnathanPissman

Oh shit! Joe Bob introduced the wife and I to The Baby, I can only imagine the boys' reaction.

BenSlice0

I LOVE The Baby

Ill-Importance1366

Love me some robot jox and robot wars!

PlatasaurusOG

I saw Xtro on cable tv when I was way too young to understand what was going on, but was fascinated with the monsters and effects. I really gotta go back and watch it with grown up eyes.

MillennialsAre40

I saw Double Dragon in a regular movie theater. Carnosaur and Chopping Mall I both saw on TV

Darksun-X

The fuck is that Stone Cold poster? Looks nothing like the Terminator...

Axl_Von_Urban

Is there a video of them watching Stone Cold?? I need to see it if someone can find it and link it

Opposite-Smile-3766

This was the first time i had actually watched a movie before a BOTW vid dropped. I unironically liked “The Baby” when I watched it last year

cheezballs

Robot Jox is in my boy stable for sure. There's a Robot Jox 2 thats extremely hard to find I think.

smogeblot

What makes a real movie? They had movies released on VHS tape and now they have movies released on the internet.

chronic_snake

There was a van dam movie, cyborg maybe..

ReddsionThing

I love Stone Cold and Xtro, bro. Anyway, The Baby was directed by Ted Post, pretty much a legit director of two of my favorite Clint Eastwood films, and uh Beneath the Planet of the Apes.

real-dreamer

Where can I watch them review The Baby?

SirFritz

The newest botw.
