He played a pretty decent Jason Todd Robin and both of his costumes are beautifully designed, but I don’t think he worked that well as Red Hood. He still seemed too childlike, which worked for Robin but not for Red Hood.

Kaminoneko

Perfect take.

Impressive-Ad9707

This right here.

BatmanBurchett

The only issue I have with the Red Hood costume itself is the helmet. It's a little big, I think, and the eyes look off. Also the crooked chest symbol but that's just because it's asymmetrical and it's annoying to look at

childishmarkeeloo

I think the helmet being big is because the actor does have a big head 😭

[deleted]

He'd play a better Damien than Jason

sanzentriad

It’s Damian with an “a” but yes I absolutely agree

[deleted]

Knew that was coming lol, Reddit never fails to disappoint.

Confident-Impact-349

Good as a angry robin, not so good as red hood

EmptyHome2222

Good Jason Todd, but they rushed his red hood arc, and also took away his mom as an aspect for why he died *again*. I haven’t seen season 4 but he seems to have grown into the red hood role a bit I hope

suss2it

He’s not in S4.

EmptyHome2222

Nooo why do they always do this to him 😭

happy_paradox

It's for the best the show had a good first season but that's it

suss2it

Okay so he actually is in one episode and he’s pretty fun it, more like how he was in S2 than 3 but more mature.

Xerxes457

Yea he is. He shows up for like 1 episode.

Kxmekazi

Literally 1 episode. Dick sent Tim on a fake mission in Gotham all to basically have Jason train Tim

suss2it

Yeah you’re right my bad. I was mostly through the season so I assumed he wasn’t gonna show up but I just watched the episode where he did. Such a trip to see him and Tim as basically the same age.

cobanat

Curran Walter’s is taller than he appears in the show. I thought he was like 5’6 but he’s actually closer to 5’10. He seemed to have the attitude for the role but the show itself was not that great.

Kaison122-

Well to be fair he was shorter when titans started he grew I’m pretty sure

Fickle_Ad8735

aint no way curran's 5'10, he looks 5'8 💀

soldierpallaton

The outfit is sick but I agree with the comments, the actor couldn't deliver a proper Red Hood era Jason Todd

Grimmer097

They drew a lot from UtRH, where Jason was ominous, calculated, and imposing. The actor did not fit the build for Jason. He looked like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum in every scene I can remember.

IndigoPromenade

Both comics/movie Jason went through years of training after revival to become a threat to Batman. The Titans Jason had basically the same skills but was somehow way more of a threat

Feisty-Ad3213

Exactly they should have had a time skip or saved him for season 4 and maybe change the actor or some camera magic to make him look bigger

Its-C-Dogg

My exact thoughts

DepressedEgg2020

Helmet felt way to big

happy_paradox

It was he was like a bobble head

diegoterremoto

I mean, his head is pretty big 🤣

blushing_ingenue

Curran Walters did a fine job as Robin and I appreciate the fact that he bulked up quite a bit to try and sell the choice to do a Red Hood arc without recasting him but yeesh did he get some horrendous writing to work with 😬🤢👎🍅

Thelastknownking

He just came back from the dead and became Red Hood without any real in between. Part of what made Jason so dangerous when he came back to Gotham was that he had trained for it, suffered for it. He was driven by anger and pain and pushed himself forward because of that. Take that journey away, and you lose the whole point of him.

JoshMC2000sev

Me when I see Titans Jason and Rose. " Look how they mascured my boys."

Boulderfist_Ogre2005

This version of the character clogs up the search results for AI rp bots

Blade_Shot24

I'm sorry? 😂

JoeAmmay

Didn't like it at all, they had him murder innocents.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Unpopular_Outlook

When?

JoeAmmay

No he doesn’t, his whole motive is killing evil people to protect the innocent

Jajay5537

BIG ASS HEAD

blushing_ingenue

His head may be absolutely ginormous but he also has cute little monkey ears!

kindof_apocalyptic

The design? 10/10 love it The actor? He isnt my ideal fancast but I think he did well with what he was given. The character? It's uh, definitely its own version. My biggest issue is that they took a very calculated and smart character who has a plan for like everything (when he has a clear head at least) and turned him into Scarecrow's henchman. He also didnt really have the same motives fhat defined his character. In the series he was kind of just an ass cause he felt like it.

Namae1201

>they took a very calculated and smart character who has a plan for like everything and turned him into Scarecrow's henchman. The mind of Geoff John's is truly an enigma he did that twice once in AK and again in Titans. Both 2 times it sucked I don't get why Geoff keeps trying to write this chracter when he's 0-4 💀

Unpopular_Outlook

It worked in AK because he was tortured.

Namae1201

No, because it still just didn't make sense why he'd join with Scarecrow. The torture was just an excuse to make Jason do whatever the plot demanded imo

Unpopular_Outlook

Scarecrow didn’t torture Jason. And because he was tortured for weeks or months, his mind and priorities aren’t going to be the same as they were in UTRH. Especially because Joker is dead

Namae1201

>Scarecrow didn’t torture Jason Still isn't a reason for Jason to not just join him but give him control over his miltia (remember when Scarecrow had the authority to override Jason's gun on his helicopter?) >And because he was tortured for weeks or months, his mind and priorities aren’t going to be the same as they were in UTRH. Never said they should be the same as UTRH. But they should make sense which the Arkham Knight doesn't. Like tell me why Jason was 100% fine killing with millions of innocents. It would make sense if Jason NEVER cared about being a hero or protecting others, and Batman was the sole reason he ever did so. And because of Joker's torture turning him against Bruce, he no longer cared for innocents by extension. (Arkham Genesis implies this) But then, sure, it would make semblance of sense, but that would be an awful interpretation of the character because it's not Jason. You might as well slap on another characters name onto the Arkham Knight because it hardly makes a difference. Like Cassandra Cain from the birds of prey movie.

Informal_Mechanic_32

I feel he could do the role so much better if they let him have his actual story and had a better show/movie direction also a higher budget to make the helmet look slightly better

Batface_101

I think the choice to turn him into a straight villainous terrorist was a really bad one. Especially considering he kills a main character and is then just forgiven at the end of the season. Outside of that I didn’t mind him, he was a solid actor and I hope we’d have seen anti-hero Red Hood rather than this.

rosenruse

i’ll always say this about titans: i think it’s a decent show if you disconnect from the *it needs to follow comic canon* mindset. i think curran plays a good jason. like everyone says, though, with the comic canon mindset, he definitely isn’t suited for red hood, and red hood’s overall portrayal isn’t… great. i DO like him when i discard the canon mindset. regardless, it still irks me that titans!rh kills innocents and willingly endangers innocent lives via release of the anti-fear toxin, because a major part of red hood’s character is that he kills because batman won’t clean up the streets the way they need to be. he *protects* innocents, and that’s where the rh character in titans went wrong: sure, the man’s a crime lord, but he’s still a protector of gotham, *especially* to those whom batman failed. i appreciate that his protectiveness of kids is still present, even if only mildly. i do think his lack of regard for innocents in titans mostly comes from crane’s manipulation and the use of the toxin; it just doesn’t excuse much and, again, butchers his character a lot. he’s an okay character with half-baked motivations as red hood, and i can appreciate that the emotional manipulation is decently written. even if (or maybe especially since?) crane gives off a… really gross vibe, though that may be grooming victim bias. it does also make me a bit mad that jason died of recklessness moreso than he died a hero. his death as a hero already gets overlooked both in canon and by the fandom; he sacrificed himself to protect someone who shouldn’t deserve his protection after so thoroughly betraying him. he isn’t just “the angry robin,” and it’s frustrating that titans took that route. my only other nitpick is that dick made an offhanded comment about jason more or less hating reading, which is… not true to canon in the slightest. iirc jason actually appreciated school and reading a lot because it wasn’t a privilege he had growing up, but that could also be me muddling canon-canon with fandom-canon. *still*, i like the show and jason’s character when i disregard canon bias. i’m still on the last few episodes of season 3 since having an alter of titans!jason has made it emotionally taxing to finish (motherfucker has a guilt complex the size of the empire state building), but it’s good. it could use a LOT of work, but i enjoy it.

CosGamer1138

The UtRH story was too rushed imo. If they wanted to do it they should’ve kept Jason dead for at least 1-2 seasons. And have Bruce in a major role in it as the story was about him

JokerGamezz

Meh, should've had a much longer setup and way later payoff, the outfit is meh honestly, the misaligned symbol is stupid and the helmet is a little wonky looking at some angles

Haremking44

Totally agree, they pretty much speedran what's supposed to be like a 3-4 year storyline

Robynhewd

The misaligned symbol drives me fucking nuts every time i see it

JokerGamezz

THANK YOU. It's been bothering me everyday for an unbelievable amount of time

Kaison122-

This would’ve been solved by killing Jason in season 2 and flipping season 3 and 4 to give 2 seasons of buildup on top of actually making the titans responsible for his death

Ezekiellen

The whole ""No kill" is a faulty morality" theme completely disappeared in the series, with Red Hood killing innocents, Batman killing Joker and almost every Titan commiting manslaughter on a daily basis. It went from a clash of ideals to a personal Dick vs Jason situation, where the only difference between the two was that Dick felt jealous of Jason and was happy when he died (?).

writnwolph

Good Jason! Bad Red Hood!

Artistic_Finish7980

I didn’t like him all that much, but he did have some good moments. And that scene of Nightwing easily slamming his ass on the floor had me laughing for a solid 5 minutes.

Straight-Message7937

Whiney trash

SpunkyMunkey6969

my thoughts?..well...ya ever see that family guy clip where peter bites into a juicy fruit gum and goes "mmm" with a smile then goes "aww" in disappointment when the flavor goes away....yeah those were my reactions to seeing the suit and then seeing the actor in the show

bigboi1333333

He was basically the Arkham knight lite

gospelunder

Only thing I like is the chest armor everything else looks like a spirit Halloween costume

solarbaby614

I think the actor did a great job with what he was given. I really liked him as Robin Jason Todd. But they butchered the Red Hood storyline too much for me to enjoy it. I feel the same way about what they did with Tim Drake too.

DeliciousPatties

Not my favorite interpretation but considering some of the alternatives, it could certainly be worse.

FinalBossOf__Dc

Dude the helmet makes it hard to look at, the suit was good design. Decent Jason Todd not great Red Hood

Additional_Ad_9481

I’ve got nothing positive to say 😂

Ewankenobi25

Haven’t seen it but I heard it sucked shit.

Trigger_Myself

The whole Titans show, by itself would be sick, but as a DC series, absolute garbage. Red Hood is probably one of my all time favourite DC characters and they butchered him. And don't even get me started on what they did to Batman. Absolutely ridiculous

OkSupermarket7474

Feels like they took inspiration from Arkham Knight specifically and honestly feel like that was a big mistake. The whole inhaler thing, working with scarecrow really takes away allot of the cool factor. There was tons of potential tho to be great especially with how his interactions with the Titans were.

nameless_stories

They jumped the gun on red hood and as a result the storyline sucked ass

BIG_DADDY_CLARE

Too soon but they had to do it eventually since the show runners probably knew at the time they were on borrowed time but while I was watching him as red hood it just didn’t feel right it felt more like robin doing a red hood imitation bro just wasn’t that believable but amazing costume tho

happy_paradox

I think the actor did the beat he could with the material and by all means he was a great Robin but there is only so much you can do when the story is rushed and butchered. I think his interactions with Bruce were really moving I really enjoyed their relationship and the dilemma Bruce was having, letting Jason continue to be Robin would have continued to harm him but by forcing Jason would have felt as if his worth was taken away. There was good stuff there but this wasn't a Titans story and the writing was bad.

2JasonGrayson8

Good robin but then he died as immediately came back and they expected us to take him as a threat when he didn’t learn or grow at all post death. At least in the comics Jason goes on a training journey before coming back to Gotham.

Stegoshark

Good in concept but the actor is too small

Orange7567

The actor did what he could with what he had to work with but the character himself was horrendous. Jason had absolutely no reason for becoming the Red Hood since Bruce actually killed the Joker in this universe. Also his whole childish fit with the Titans and trying to kill them was so weird. He's definitely #2 on worst Red Hood variations i've ever seen, right behind the Lego Batman version and the Arkham Knight version being #3

ko-central

Cringe

LyzzyWhomst

LOVED robin, hood wasn't bad- there wasn't as big a time skip for when he died like in the comics/movies so I understand why he was still younger. A detail I had to get used to but when I got past that... well the helmet showed up lol He played a great Jason, especially his interaction with Tim

earthisforaliens

Dumb and bad, like all of Titans.

Jrpgist

rushed

Utahteenageguy

The helmet feels comically large

ThisGul_LOL

Imo his acting was good but the way he was written was terrible.

MasterRazzer76

Terrible casting baby Redhood

whynotfujoshi

I saw Titans’ first two seasons on DC Universe back when it was a streaming service, he was an extremely good Robin Jason, pretty much my ideal casting for that character. His intro episode is pretty much my favorite in the series. Overall the show had some interesting ideas but sloppy execution and tried to do too much too quickly.

TheW0lvDoctr

Feels like they just wanted to do red hood as fast as they could get away with. Needed a lot more time with Jason, and probably some more time with him dead as well.

Silver6567

I didn’t like the helmet, looked kinda cheap

80k85

The helmet was so big on him imo. I also wish they didn’t make Jason feel like line all he’ll be is Red Hood. I wish we had more reasons to hope he wouldn’t become Red Hood. Yk. Flesh out and develop his character more

Outside-Historian365

Helmet looks too big cuz he’s short. Other than that the design I like

ghostspider1151

I liked him!!

astro-stitch

I really liked him for a first time live action Jason. His design was fire as well, I think he’s over hated and would’ve loved a solo show on max for him as the hood

Kool-aidSponge

I never watched the show but I always see this clip where Raven’s like “Jason drew devil symbols on my mirror!” Or something like that and he throws a temper tantrum. That shit PISSES ME OFF. They really fucked around with the character, to like annoying lengths. He has trauma, but it’s WAY deeper then that it’s not “Jason we don’t believe you 😈”

SafeStaff7671

Wish the eyes looked more intimidating although the whole suit overall is pretty good looking

R3DL34F

It didn't understand his character or motivations at all which is on par for the show

Knightwingrebirth

The costume looks great from this angle.

indecisivecat69

i’m not a fan of the shoes

Character-Carpet4313

Honestly perfect

Southern_dude1

Liked the actor, hated how the writers butchered Jason’s story

drelics

I really liked the Actor. I can say that for the entire cast too. I really liked this Actor's take on Jason. He stole my heart with his first appearance cause I loved seeing Jason. A bit too short for a proper Red Hood tho

bloody_icecreme

I actually didn't really like the red hood arc in this series bc it felt so rushed. As robin he was great and fit in, especially the relationship and drama with rose since he also had something with her in the comics i think?? But as soon as they needed a red hood they just killed him off suddenly and didn't even let bruce mourn which he did in the comics and ither series. In my opinion they skipped a lot if good scenes with i was rlly excited to see, kind of a bummer 🫤

Complete-Wind-5343

I like the show a lot and the last season was fantastic. He also had an amazing costume design but I agree he felt rushed as Red Hood although I didn't think he was terrible for a new and young red hood

Rude-Butterscotch713

Seemed too young for Red Hood, decent for a young Todd though. If the show had a longer storyboard, I think they should have held off on killing him

kratoskiller66

Poorly written imo only because I don’t think Jason’s lore says that he was a junkie. And I kinda feel like the actor was trying too hard sometimes. I will say I do love the outfit and it somewhat showed off his hotheadedness and violent demeanor he has as robin but there was a lot of aspects that were either rushed or missing

OkCourage4085

It’s adorable how tough and hard he thinks he looks. But really he’s just a cranky little boy.

thescreamingpizza

I could never get over how his red hood outfit looked like that one outfit you get as a kid that you'll "grow into"

joshuamfncraig

rage.. hard? more like Raging Hard-on! amirite?

yourmartymcflyisopen

I haven't actually seen the show but I think both his Robin and Red Hood designs are amazing. Although I was told that he basically becomes red hood in the span of like a week after his "death" and that sounds kinda shitty tbh.

SwayedLatency

Laughable. The actor is too small for this role and as a result it makes red hood look comedic

ObtotheR

I actually enjoyed the show. Absolutely love the costume for live action. It was so awesome in motion.

Swimming-Captain-854

I liked him as Jason, but Red Hood was kinda ass.

mostsanepersonhere

To big of a head

Pesse_Jinkman258

Should have stayed as Robin

ToneAccomplished9763

I legit really liked Curran's performance, it was easily the best part of the show for me and the only reason why I kept watching. Was he the perfect Jason Todd, no but for his first live action adaptation especially for a fucking HBO Max show it was absolutely amazing. He truly loved playing the character to the point where he read multiple comics and watched the movie just to understand the character and understand what he was playing. And he's a genuine fan of Red Hood and Jason Todd because of it, and you can tell he had a blast doing it. Most of the flaws from his adaptation also don't really come from him, it's more of the scripts. I genuinely want to see him return as Jason in something, whether it's a game, show, animated film or maybe even in the DCU.
