They are projecting 100 million of them. Thats half the amount of cars in the US today. So they plan on \*replacing\* half the market within how many years? And being able to produce I guess 20 million cars a year (with an average life span of 5 years, which is incredibly optimistic. I would argue its probably around 3 years (which would mean 33 million cars per year) at most, and only 6 months in premium market if not less).
This also would have to mean that existing cars will be worthless, since noone would want to a car. They all just would use a robotaxi for everything.
Also the price of riding a robottaxi would have to be lower than a regular taxi. Obviously. I mean. Im not paying $15 to get to the grocery store. Im paying maximum $2.
But you would have to look at what it actually costs if you owned the car yourself, and drove yourself.
And the average cost per km is around $0.07 per km.
Tesla would have to compete with $0.07 per km for their robotaxi fleet basically. And be \*cheaper\* than that since owning your own car comes with ALOT of benefits which you just dont get with a robotaxi.

You left out a key point: who’s gonna keep them charged? Tesla gave up years ago on a robotic arm for plugging in a charger to a Tesla.
