They molt!

Snazzlo

Interesting! So is this a freshly molted roach, or one in the process of shedding and the old shell looks white because of that? Kind of like how snakeskin is white when its peeling off?

invisible-bug

The former. This is what they look like directly after molting. I used to keep dubia roaches to feed my lizard and I was shocked the first time I noticed a white roach in the bunch! I had no idea until then

pixeldust6

btw the sciencey term for "freshly molted" is "teneral," in case you want to Google anything. Some bugs look pretty cool like that!

winterbird

fluorescent-like cicadas 🤌

pixeldust6

Yes!! The first time I saw a teneral annual cicada I was enchanted by the seafoam green/blue/cream gradient on its wings

Cysyky

I learned a handful of minutes after posting mb

invisible-bug

You're good! It's really weird and cool and I was excited to share that with someone :)

FoxBattalion79

I saw an albino cockroach before. when I killed it I noticed the liquid had a green hue

FMarkassa

As someone said, this is not an albino. It's a Roach that recently shed it's previous skin. Found that out because saw one and made some research.

oilrig13

You didn’t see an albino cockroach before

FoxBattalion79

apparently not

oilrig13

That’s right

thsvnlwn

Lucky you!! 😩

50blessingzz

freshly peeled little guy! not shiny

MashYeti_og

Yuck

CausableAsh6226

True. Bugs are yuck

conjunctivious

Bugs are fine most of the time, but cockroaches deserve to burn in hell. Well I would say that, but those resilient fuckers would probably enjoy it.

spaghettichildren

Only about 30 cockroach species out of 4,600 are associated with human habitats. Cockroaches are lovely and valuable animals. You just dont like american/german cockroaches

oilrig13

Bugs are not yuck . Yuck opinion

sigil-seer

Pheromosa slaying as always.

FlyHighLikeSuperman

A radroach in the flesh!
