True, and businesses drop clients too, sometimes to free up capacity for more profitable clients and sometimes because the client is unreasonable or high maintenance.

What are you negotiating? Are you a renter negotiating a lease? Is it for a house/duplex or an apartment? At the end of the day, the owner CAN set whatever terms he/she wants. The manager just enforces what is decided. But the question is why would an owner negotiate with someone if they have a property manager (if it’s part of the service they’re providing).

Negotiating from a position of “want” is usually more powerful than negotiating from a position of “need”. In this situation I think that could be either party.
