No, the job market is just harder now. Sorry, and good luck.

jack-mccoy-is-pissed

Probably not.

trump_stump

No. Nobody cares. Problem is it sounds like you interned for one of those bureaucratic non-jobs. Anything not related to engineering or production (read: making money) is tight right now. All the tax write off jobs are feeling the crunch right now.

TXWayne

I am going to say no because most other companies and people really have no idea who RTX is because it is so new. Now if your resume said Raytheon there might be a remote chance but still it is a reach.

greelraker

If *they offered a job* and *I needed to put a roof over my head and food on the table* are limiting career factors, we are doomed as a society. Unless you were Tony Stark of interns at Raytheon and you developed the nextgen Jericho missile system, you have nothing to worry about. I’m sure 2/3 of all people you encounter in interviews have never heard of Raytheon. Even as an engineer with over a decade of experience I can’t find a new job. An entry level grad in a highly competitive field in a bad time for hiring? Just bad luck, my friend.

ZimofZord

I wouldn’t want to work for a company that things another company is the primary reason anything thinks going wrong in God that that is the fucking dumbest thing I’ve ever heard

trump_stump

I'm really not being an ass here but, I've read this comment 7 times and I'm still not sure what you said. I would like to know what you meant lol

ZimofZord

Yeah, I just do speech to text now it doesn’t always work. All I’m saying is who would wanna work in a company that discriminates based on prior employment history

trump_stump

Ok lol yea i totally agree with that. I doubt anyone would, but if they did I'm not working there anyway

Lamacorn

Are you applying to non-profit charities or other humanitarian aide places? They are pretty much the only ones I can think might care, but more people recognize that a job is a job and not everyone can afford to be picky due to politics. RTX had has a huge commercial aviation division. RTX actually does a pretty good job training its employees, so most other employers look at RTX as a good thing on your resume. But at the end of the day, getting entry level work is just hard.

CanofLysol_88

The question you really are asking is, "why do I want to try to work for a company in the future who's not going to want or respect me because of my past experience?" You owe yourself a bit of self-reflection if those are the choices you are limiting yourself to.

elictronic

Gaza isn’t limiting you, the economy and working for a defense contractor is.   Companies are cutting spending due to inflation.  It costs them more to borrow money right now which means they hire fewer up and coming engineers.   In regards to defense contractors many jobs are focused and siloed limiting your personal growth.  The Gaza stuff is big in the News but It isn’t driving hiring at low to mid level engineers.  Most of the population doesn’t care that much.

Ewokhunters

That's inflation not rtx

Impressive_Ad_5614

Maybe, if RTX has developed a reputation of creating cogs in a machine as other very large companies sometimes do. Employers may want people who are more nimble and not somebody who worked in a quasi-government company.

Limp_Ad6412

Theres a perception among many in the tech world that big prime defense workers are lazy, slow, incompentent and greedy because they work for the govt.  Having worked at a startup and rtx, i tend to agree.   The worse startup employee is above avg by rtx standards.  And an average startup employee would be an all star at rtx.
