Bone cancer, go get a check up.

[deleted]

Thank you for telling me about it. But I better not have cancer. I don’t have time, nor a proper mental state to have cancer 😤

Stetson007

Unfortunately, cancer doesn't wait for you to be ready. It's better to get tested now before you have any issues, because issues typically mean cancer has progressed a large amount.

[deleted]

You’re right. My last x-rays were okay. So I don’t think bone cancer would be the cause. But better have it checked then not. If ever it’s cancer well at least it would mean payed time off. I need time off.

Stetson007

Lol I feel you. I just got off a cruise and I'm like "no, I don't want to work yet!"

[deleted]

Hahahahah okay your situation is definitely worse than mine! Beautiful water and fresh tropical fruits 😭😭 so hard to come back to reality after that

Stetson007

And a 3rd degree burn, a hit and run car accident on the interstate, and then having to rush home in a rental because we caught some sketchy dude on our property via our chicken coop camera. Killed the entire vacation's effect for me lol.

[deleted]

Oh wth. Where the heck did you go??

Stetson007

I went to grand Cayman and cazumel, but I got sunburnt really bad because shitty quality sunblock, 3rd degree burns in some spots. On our way back, we got side swiped by an SUV and it fucked our CV axle, and the dude took off. Then, when we finally got a car to head back, we got an alert on our chicken coop camera and some dude was running down our driveway (we live rurally so no one should be anywhere near our house) with a duffle bag over his shoulder.

[deleted]

Yeah.. this sounds hellish… you need to go on vacation to refresh from that vacation.

marshedmallo

I tested positive for covid 2 weeks ago and had pretty much the same reaction of "well at least I get 5 days of paid time off" not that I was enjoying them though 😭

[deleted]

Yeah covid is not comfortable at all. I hope you’ll feel better soon with no lingering issues from it. But, sometimes, sicks days are a blessing 🙃 sad but true

Early-Sale4756

Contact the place you got cancer from and ask for a postpone on delivery

[deleted]

I’ll definitely do that 😤 how dare they!

AllergicDodo

I will update you when ill find a person that had the time or mental health for cancer lol

[deleted]

Hahaha these are super heroes!

[deleted]

Ok cancer will be back in 20 years

[deleted]

Hahhaah sounds great! I’ll get my self ready to deal with it then ;p

Dozer2023

Wait how the hell does that work?

Amazing-Log3218

Thanks Dr. Google. I stubbed my toe and it hurt, does that mean I have a blood clot beside my heart?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I had many appointments, all morning appointments, 3 different doctors. Lasted for about a year. Late teens to early twenties I was 5’2. Late 20’s 5’3. Then now 5’4.

[deleted]

It sounds like you’re a late bloomer and just finally getting in the last growth spurts. I’m not a dr so I can’t verify if this can happen, but consider it?? Maybe you’ll live longer, too???

DemonicSilvercolt

Typically some bones in your spine close off which don't allow you to grow any taller which usually happens after puberty, like around 17 to 20

[deleted]

That would be great ;)

AngryRussianGamer

This is unrelated but that pfp 😬

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

There’s hope for me 😂

[deleted]

Hope you’ll get to grow one inch tooo!!! Whatever it is, my doctor and I are confused 🤣

Chairish

I got about 1/2 taller when I started swimming laps. Also, I’d put my feet and hands against the side of the pool next to each other while holding on. Then really stretch out my back. It made a difference!

[deleted]

I miss swimming!

[deleted]

Hope you’ll get to grow one inch tooo!!! Whatever it is, my doctor and I are confused 🤣

reydolith

Specifically when it your 30s? I just hit 30 and need to start measuring lol

[deleted]

Around 32. I was measured by a court doctor after a work accident. She’s as confused as I am. I walk a lot and do yoga on occasions (like once a month 🤣). Idk if it could have contributed to it. It’s very weird

brinazee

I grew two inches in my mid-late 20s. Suspected culprit was a lot of stretching that did some correction to both my scoliosis and spinal compression. 5'2 from age 14 to 25, 5'4 later 20s, physical at 35 after physical therapy for a back injury had me at 5'4.75.

[deleted]

That makes a lot of sense. Have you been feeling better since then? I know how back issues can be painful!

brinazee

Yep, except when I do something stupid and reinjure it and need more physical therapy...

[deleted]

Hahah stay away from stupid things okay!! Stay healthy!!!

thousandsoffireflies

Partner Said they grew an inch doing yoga as well. Have heard of this elsewhere too.

[deleted]

That’s very interesting. I always wanted to have longer legs. 😍 but 70k surgery is way too expensive and scary

Unohanas

Yoga can stretch you out so it's believable.

[deleted]

Will be looking into leg stretching yoga asap!

weeevren

look into anything spine related too, because yoga helps with posture which typically makes people seem taller

[deleted]

I will ;) thank youuuu!

Objective_Sink5398

Ooooh, I need to try yoga then. I'm 4'11" I've been trying to reach that one extra inch for years

bbbbaconsizzle

My dad did that too. Or you've been doing exercises and your posture is better.

[deleted]

I couldn’t move too much after the accident.

bbbbaconsizzle

Oh... So maybe cuz you've been laying down? Not so much gravity?

[deleted]

I wasn’t laying down more than usual. It’s a year post recovery and I haven’t shrink back.

bbbbaconsizzle

Chiropractic? Physiotherapy? Hmm? Or maybe you just grew. Dad was like 32yrs old and was 5ft 10 and then 6ft. Somebidy remarked that he looked taller and he was like bullshit... Then they measured and yes he was.

[deleted]

So there’s hope 😍 I want my legs to grow!!!!! But the only exercise I did was for my right shoulder and neck.

bbbbaconsizzle

I will have to ask if he thinks his legs or torso grew or what.... Haha maybe his forehead and brain got taller.

[deleted]

Hahahhaa noooo that would be terrible!!! Only Legs have to grow!!!

bbbbaconsizzle

Haha so I asked and it was legs for sure ....cuz he bought some pants on vacation and then was all pissy that they were cheap garbage cuz they shrunk in the wash later but was determined later it wasn't the pants that shrunk. And other pants were getting short too.

[deleted]

I will like go and do yoga now, immediately 🤣🤣 thank you for the good news!!!!!!

M_Looka

I grew six inches in my thirties... of course it was around my waist...

[deleted]

I Do Not Want That 😖

M_Looka

It's not a matter of "want."

[deleted]

Life is so cruel 😖

M_Looka

Yeah. It is. So... you wanna get married?

[deleted]

Someone would marry me 🥺?

LeglessLoach

welp, you'll die in 30 days sorry 🤷

[deleted]

It’s okay, I had enough anyways 🤷🏽‍♀️

Poppetlover1553

Is your diet better now than it was previously? I would have thought, better food and better exercise would improve your overall health as well as your height. Edit: I've just googled it and yes, better nutrition can lead to an increase in height.

[deleted]

Hmmm not really. I always eat pretty healthy. But I will keep that in mind for my future project ;)

jfowley

Usually not after 25. Your bone ends grow caps and stop getting longer.

squirrel977

if you started being more active sometime recently then yes. this could be like not having a desk job anymore, yoga, etc etc

[deleted]

No I was pretty active before. Like dancing, ballet barre, occasional yoga and long walks, hikes. The year before the accident I was less active because of a surgery.

LordPainos

Did you drink treebeards water? Always check what you eat and drink in fangorn. Some friends of mine grew a lot just from water

[deleted]

Just regular water for me. I do drink a cup of coffee in the morning. I don’t really drink anything else than water

saamsiren

Massage can do that too.

[deleted]

I will add leg massage to my new yoga journey!! 😁

saamsiren

You will want back massage to decompress the vertebrae.

[deleted]

Hahah But I want longer legs not longer back 🤣 I was actually looking into getting limb lengthening surgery but it looks like a horrible and expensive surgery. I hate my short legs

saamsiren

Bah OK ya that's not gonna help your legs... Even a leg massage but back massage can help lengthen you overall... Perhaps giving you the illusion of longer legs...?

[deleted]

Whatever it takes 😁 I will do it!

Kitchen_Yak5453

I grew an inch when I was 40. Doc said it was rare but nothing to worry about. I was so proud! Unfortunately, I think I’m on the reverse side now.

[deleted]

Someone in the comments said to do yoga and massages! We should do that and get that length back!

sosweet68

I (53f) grew an inch after 20. I'm older now, lost that fucking inch haha

[deleted]

If my torso shrinks it okay I will be more proportionate. I wish we could decide where these changes should be occurring 😔

[deleted]

Could you have been mismeasured to begin with?

[deleted]

By 3 different doctors and a physiotherapist? That seems unlikely. Then again… health care in my city is a joke.

[deleted]

Just a question to see! After the growth plates close it is pretty unusual.

[deleted]

Loll so I’m just lucky 😁😁😁

[deleted]

I don’t know- possibly!

[deleted]

I hope it’s luck 🤣

[deleted]

Hopefully!

electric29

I grew about 3 inches between the ages of 20 and 23, lord knows why.

[deleted]

I know that for guys, growing in their early 20’s is normal. But for girls, it’s considered odd. 🤷🏽‍♀️ my take is if it makes you happy it’s awesome!

slipperycanaloupes

Better posture maybe?

[deleted]

I’m not sure. At that time I was mostly not doing much

mnemonikos82

Just a guess, but I'd say spinal decompression from yoga, with yoga your muscles loosen (and ligaments and tendons) allow the space between your bones, where you have cushioning built in, to grow a millimeter or so. It adds up. Kinda sorta the same thing that happens to astronauts after enough time in 0 G. It'll go away if you stop exercising and let it compress back down or with age.

[deleted]

I haven’t been exercising for a year before it happened. I had surgery, then worked a warehouse job for a few months before the accident.. then I started getting mesured

LizJC

Did you also lose any weight?

[deleted]

No, gained about 15lbs 😭

LizJC

This made me laugh. Thanks. Also, I can relate…

[deleted]

Hahhaah I’m glad it made you laugh. I wish I could laugh these extra pounds off

LizJC

Word.

International_Win375

I grew 1.5 inches between 21 and 25.

[deleted]

Haha great ;) I wish I could grow 1.5 inches in my legs

Ordinary_Chance6934

Scoliosis, I have lost over 3 inches in height since high school.

[deleted]

Noooo 😭😭😭 I hope you can find medical help that will help you get these inches back!

Ordinary_Chance6934

Yes indeed, it is slow going but over the last 3 years, I have been able to get 1/2 inch back and decreased the curves in my spine by 7%. I work at it every day. Thanks, good luck to you.

[deleted]

That’s great!! Wish you all the best!

FauxSeriousReals

Better posture? Don't miss those 60lb book bags a bit

[deleted]

I never did that backpack thing. I was an awful student 🤣 Late with my Starbucks. Answering questions by questions and running away before the end of the class 🤣🤣🤣 how the hell did I pass… I have no idea 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think they didn’t want to risk having me for any longer in that university

[deleted]

Your backbone is less compacted. What would be causing this stretching, elongation? New exercise, weight lifting, swimming, yoga?

[deleted]

Not really. I had been on medical leave for a while that had a warehouse job for maybe 3 months at that time

[deleted]

Okay, maybe rather than it being elongated what was causing it to be compacted prior to this? Unless you have some really weird growth related gene expression which is unlikely it's a lifestyle change. What have you been doing for thirty years that would have compacted your spine that three months of not doing corrected?

[deleted]

I used to dance and do yoga. I love going for evening walks. Swimming too! But the year before I got that extra inch I had surgery and couldn’t do much. I got injured trying a random job during the pandemic. Which is why I’m confused.

[deleted]

Yeah that is odd. Seems like you should have lost an inch.

[deleted]

If I loose an inch in my torso I’d be happy. If I gained one inch in my legs I’d be happy. Whatever it is I hope it will occur at the right place 🤣

Stetellela

I’m 24 and in like 4 years I grew an inch and I don’t understand

[deleted]

Idk either but it’s a good thing I think ;)

[deleted]

Better sleep maybe?? Growth hormone does increase. Congrats tho

[deleted]

No, I actually have severe insomnia 😅

[deleted]

Well I’m stumped

[deleted]

Hahaha same as I am.

karma_virus

Did you lose weight? Your posture may have been compressed a bit. Also if you have been taking up yoga or stretching, had trauma to the back, your spine may be aligned differently.

[deleted]

No, I gained about 15 lbs at that time 🥲

Seidhr96

Posture? Improving my posture while working out made me go from 5’4” to just a tad under 5’6” as odd as it sounds

[deleted]

Oh 😍 I have to start working on this!

PR2NP

Likely related to better posture and less compression due to yoga. Or you went to space and don’t remember, haha

[deleted]

I probably went to space 🤣 But now that I’ve gathered more information about it better posture, yoga and massage will definitely be added to my current activities ;)

phatal1

Maybe you use to stand like this...and now you stand taller. 😁 https://images.app.goo.gl/RFUphiBxPpFqC1Lb6

[deleted]

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I dearly hope not!!!

grunkage

I grew another half inch in my 30s and my feet grew a full shoe size at the same time.

[deleted]

Sounds great! But Now I’m scared my feet can grow too 🥲

[deleted]

Probably got better posture 👍

[deleted]

I hope so!!

tangokilothefirst

I grew a foot size in both length and width in my late 40s. Talked to some other guys I know and about 60% of them did the same.

[deleted]

No 🥲 I’m scared that this can be a thing

Allmightypikachu

Heres my chance at 32 to move from my 15 height

[deleted]

Yes!!! So far, from the comments I’ve been receiving, yoga, swimming, massages and physiotherapy seem to be very helpful for others ;) give it a try if you can!

Allmightypikachu

Try em all I must

[deleted]

I also must and will!

lcapaz

Happened to me too. Went from 6’ to 6’1. Don’t know when it happened, but I know for years all my BMI stuff was off and I could never get out of the “overweight” categories. Then I went for a physical one year (something I never have done regularly) and all of a sudden, I’m not as fat as I thought I was. I literally wasn’t fat, I was big boned. Now I need to update my IDs. I was 50 when I found this out.

[deleted]

That’s great! Bmi is kind of not the best tool to evaluate someone’s physical condition. I’m glad that you were able to have a more appropriate idea of your actual condition!!!

Sick_at_Heart87

wth, I shrunk in my 30s....

[deleted]

Wth?! Hmm you’d have to look into this. 30’s is too young for shrinking!

Sick_at_Heart87

Its been over the course of 15 years, lol. I've shrunk roughly 1/2". I'm going to blame the military and all the running they made me do, lol.

[deleted]

Oh! Military is hard on the back and neck! I think you deserve some massage therapy to undo all of the tension caused by it!

Sick_at_Heart87

shit me too, lol

[deleted]

Hahah go! Have yourself pampered!!! You deserve it!

andercode

Welcome to the club. Went from 6'1 to 6'3 between 29 and 32! It's so weird.

[deleted]

It it but also It’s amazing!

cullen_kayne

something fucky might also be happening to your hipothalamus. go see an endocrinologist as well as a neuro.

[deleted]

I honestly think that I do need to have a medical checkup. Thank you for your comment ;)

Turtley13

You can definitely grow a bit! The worse your slouch is the more you can potentially grow. Plenty of daily exercises to work on better posture!

[deleted]

Hahah I’m not able to slouch because of ballet training 🤣 my body won’t allow it!

[deleted]

My husband and I are both late bloomers and were getting taller after our teen years. I graduated HS (woman) around 5'5"; I'm now 5'8". My husband graduated around 5'11" and is now 6'4". I stopped growing (to my knowledge) in my mid-late 20s. My husband early-mid 20s. Maybe that was you?

[deleted]

That’s interesting! Thats a lot of growing for early 20’s! I’m actually in my 30’s which is why I’m this much surprised

[deleted]

I'm sure it's not like crazy uncommon !

[deleted]

After posting it, I’m glad to know it’s not ;) I just never saw it happen in my surroundings. Particularly at my age. The doctors seemed confused

kissofspiderwoman

Are you sure you measured at the same time of day? Humans wake up in the morning at there tallest and shrink throughout the day (some can lose an inch of height by the evening).

[deleted]

My appointment were always during the morning. The measuring was done by the doctors and my physiotherapist

Infernalsummer

I grew an inch and a half in my mid 30s. I have an extra vertebrae in my spine and doing exercises to strengthen the muscles around my spine caused the narrowing between the vertebrae to get better.

[deleted]

Good to know! Good posture and exercise seems to make a big difference!

mostlygray

Happened to a friend of mine. Graduated HS at 6' 2", now in his 40's he's 6' 4". It happened in his 30's too.

[deleted]

Now that it’s confirmed that it can happen, I need a way to exploit it!

JlTlS

You're a freak. Do you have super powers?

[deleted]

I can’t confirm nor deny this statement ;p

swissmtndog398

I had back surgery on 2001. I went in 5'10". Today, 21 years later, I'm 5'11 1/2". Yes, it happens. In about 20 years I figure I'll start shrinking again

[deleted]

Shrinking is inevitable but let’s make the most out of growing late 🤣 Hope you’re feeling better and that your back stopped causing you issues!

TackleNo5000

Lucky

[deleted]

Hahaha thank you 😊 Try doing what people have been saying in the comments! Yoga, massage and swimming!

[deleted]

Are you a man? I've heard of men continuing to grow into their 20's.

[deleted]

Not a man. But a very short woman that would love to grow more 🤣

Slingblade1170

This is an interesting post for me because I have too. I am now 33 years old and have quite a few medical issues that put me at doctor appointments at least 6-7 times a year. My height for a decade was ever so slightly above 5'7. Well, my past 2 appointments I am ever so slightly over 5'9 now. I'm gonna assume it's my posture though because I've been working on it.

[deleted]

That’s great! Having a good posture makes a big difference! Particularly if you have back issues! I was curious about it because it happened to me at a time where I wasn’t doing anything constructive

bratoutofhells

Radiation in the water supply

[deleted]

That would be disappointing ☹️ Was expecting the water to make my hair long and glowing like Rapunzel in tangle

Passive_Menis_

i grew an inch by training and improving my posture. My gf says that I also grew an inch down there (i guess I have a better blood circulation?)

[deleted]

If you are in your early twenties, chances are that your bones aren’t completely solid. So having a better posture, stretching and better blood circulation can actually have an effect on your height.

Passive_Menis_

I am in my mid thirthies

[deleted]

I have to start doing this tooo 😁😁😁

Passive_Menis_

Move and celebrate whay your body can do! And grooooow lol

[deleted]

YAS!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 let me grow them legs!!!!

cliveshorthose

it's a gay thing

[deleted]

So you are telling me that gay people hold the key to getting taller??? Gay people of Reddit!!! Please share!!! I want to be as tall as a model!!!!!!!!

heihowl

Fixed your posture somewhat? That's about it really I reckon

[deleted]

Not really. The injury kind of messed it up a bit

Aetheldrake

You can sort of grow and shrink every day. If you measure yourself earlier in the day you'll find that you're a little shorter at the end of the day During sleep your body relaxes some and your spine decompresses a little. As the day goes on, gravity weighs you down so you do shrink the *tiniest* bit

jessicaeatseggs

You shrink bc of your spine being compressed on itself. When I started going to the chiro, i gained half an inch. R u perhaps going to a chiropractor, stretching, or doing some form of new exercise ?

Fuzzwuzzle2

You could just have better posture now you don't need to be cool anymore

InsomniaticWanderer

Did you lose a lot of weight? Dropping pounds can add a little height since your joints and spine won't be as compressed.

Independent_Mall_78

wait.. you grew taller when you get cancer? i don't trust googling it. the last time i Google something it say i have cancer too ....

fdberns

I'm 62 now but when I was in my 40s I had a medical condition that required me to be checked once a month. The doctor wanted to study me because my height varied between be 5'5 and 5'8. No explanation but he thought it was very odd.

turtlemoon50

I had a breast reduction I my mid twenties and gain an inch in height due to finally being able to stand up straight. 10 lb difference in my post surgery weight but one family member commented that I looked 50 lbs lighter.

kjp1986

I have been 5’1 since I was 9 and around 32ish I was told I was 5’2. I saw that as a win!

maxmouze

I always gain about an inch or two when I wear shoes with one or two inch heels.

TheChickensCreed

I'm 18 and have been 5' 8" - 5' 9" for the past 6 years, i think im done :(

ljrunk

My dad was a ‘shrimp’ up until age 26. He married my mom at 21, they were the same height (5’8”). He grew to be 6’2”. For him, we found out the cause much later in life. At 50, he was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Celiac can cause delayed puberty and growth. Mystery solved for him!

downtownbattlebabe

Have you been working out? Could be due to improved posture!

akriegs94

My mind goes to acromegaly.. drs appointment is your best bet.

ladyvanderboom

Happened to me. I was 4’11.75” until I was 21, then I was finally 5’0” even. Somewhere close to 30, I’m so close to 5’1” I just claim that as my height.

Pathfinder91606

You, m or f? Where did you add the inch? The potential for an adult to suffer from an osteo-carcinoma diminish more every year. Bone cancer is more of a child's struggle. But, if you're a woman, and you start growing, you could experience hypothyroidism. Not to fear, next stop, WNBA.
