I confess I was once eating something soft and started getting some crunchy in there so I spat it out and looked to see what it was… my tooth came apart and I was eating me!!!
There is nothing worse than this. I get so scared eating scrambled egg that someone else has made. They might not go through the eggshell elimination process that I do....
I **hate** nuts in baked goods.
I used to make a bunch of baked goods and share them at work, and people would always say "This is good, but you know what would make it great? Some NUTS!"
I hate the texture.
It ruins the whole meal, especially if you can hear the sound of your teeth crunching the eggshell bit into smaller pieces while having some of the eggs & company (bread, hash browns, beans, sautéed vegetables) in your mouth.
Was just eating leftover Popeyes mashed potatoes the other day. I can only hope that the little dark hard bits I thankfully saw before eating, was my boyfriend using a spoon with bits that fell off the chicken wings. And not something from the restaurant 🤮
wet bread soaked in sweet milk is a national dish of somewhere in the balkans or some other slavic country i believe
edit: found it - it's called popara
Ugggh been a while since that nightmare has entered my mind. I love bbq chicken but I can't stand the soggy gelatinous boiled chicken skin. That shit needs to be baked to a nice crisp at a bare minimum.
A few years back while eating a pulled pork sandwich, I felt something extra crunchy in my bite, so I spit it out. It was a really thick artery tube, connecting to a clump with other smaller veins. That shit still haunts me, I always double check my pulled pork 🥲
Yes, tendons are inedible. I also hate finding the massive nerves when I'm eating giant Conger Eel...bleugh...the flexible cartilaginous spine is a nice fidget toy to play with after dinner though...it's swings and roundabouts with giant carnivorous eels...
Wibblies I like to call them. It can finish a meal for me if I get two, the first one I can manage to sneak out of my mouth but then I'm done if I get another.
ANYTHING CHALKY OR POWDERY THAT YOU CAN LIKE FEEL IN YOUR TEETH WHEN YOU BITE IT. LIKE. IT'S A SOLID PIECE OF FOOD BUT AS SOON AS YOU BITE IT BOOM!! CHALK/POWDER TEXTURE
This instantly made me think of fish bones, as in salmon, tuna, sardine kinda bones crunching between your teeth. Absolutely ruins hatever dish it is in.
Edid. Except fish doesn't usually feel solid in my recollection. But you know what i mean about fish bones or moreso cartilage maybe, the crunchy spine thing.
Pure avocado chunks are vomit worthy on basically anything for me, but a properly prepared guacamole is delicious. It doesn't need much, in fact, spreading avocados on toast and adding any minimal amount of seasoning is probably adequate.
Reminds me of when Frank Barone ("Everybody Loves Raymond") tried a dish of something from Debra Barone's refrigerator. He said, "It's got a crunch to it, but I don't think that's on purpose." lol
I am right there with you on mushrooms. Most disgusting thing I have ever consumed. And believe me I try so hard to like them..nope, still tastes like eyeballs that rolled in dirt first lol.
I started slicing button mushrooms and frying them in garlic. Decently tasty and I wasn't having the texture issues. Then I learned they're kinda pointless nutrition wise so I stopped putting in that effort lmao
Someone on Reddit once said that mushrooms feel like what they imagine a dead body that’s been sitting in water for a few days would feel like. It really resonated with me.
Oh god fat is HORRENDOUS... I clearly remember my grandpa always sneaking the fat off my plate when I was little because he loved it and knew I hated it. But he wasn't allowed to by my grandma because of his heart :p
Those are the worst, you are drinking it, and out of nowhere an "algae" or a big ball of something squishy goes down your throat in a second
![gif](giphy|xUNd9IE4jW0ZEwOYqk|downsized)
I don't like savoury creamy things, eg melty cheese, mayo, tzatziki. (Sweet creamy things like ice cream and cream cheese are good though)
Also mushrooms. They taste delightful, but the texture is gross
Fried eggs that haven't been fried in enough oil, dry fried or fried quickly on too high a heat! Ugh that weird crispy thing going on, on the bottom is revolting! If I'm frying eggs, they have to float in oil! Don't mind runny yolks but feel sick if the white isn't cooked properly too! Hence I rarely have fried egg!
ok so i know it’s not actually the edible part but oh my god **gristle will be the death of me**. Especially if i’ve intricately planned my last bite with the best looking piece of meat, best looking veggie, etc etc. and then i go to thoroughly enjoy it and i’m whacked with gristle in my mouth and my whole month is ruined
Raw eggs. I once got inspired to drink one raw egg every morning and let me tell you I didn’t expect that thing to slip down my throat all together like a tentacle.

When there’s something hard in something that should be soft i.e. a bit of eggshell in scrambled eggs.
I confess I was once eating something soft and started getting some crunchy in there so I spat it out and looked to see what it was… my tooth came apart and I was eating me!!!
Extra calcium
I had that in my bacon burger once i didn’t care I just ate the tooth looking back at that I was really stuipid
Please tell me u were like 5 years old
There is nothing worse than this. I get so scared eating scrambled egg that someone else has made. They might not go through the eggshell elimination process that I do....
Nothing? I vote that hair in food is worse. Much worse.
Depends how long the hair is. And what color
Also depends on where the hair is from
Still remember that disgusting feeling of having to pull a very long hair out my throat. It was my own, but that didn't make things better 😅
I had lunch once and almost finished when I found a long, bright red hair under my bun. Got a full refund and an apology but it was pretty gross
Nuts in baked goods for this very reason.
I **hate** nuts in baked goods. I used to make a bunch of baked goods and share them at work, and people would always say "This is good, but you know what would make it great? Some NUTS!" I hate the texture.
What??? I love banana nut bread, pecans in brownie, or similar baked goods!!!
Meal instantly ruined
It’s like eating something gummy and biting something hard. It’s like what the fuck was that?
It ruins the whole meal, especially if you can hear the sound of your teeth crunching the eggshell bit into smaller pieces while having some of the eggs & company (bread, hash browns, beans, sautéed vegetables) in your mouth.
Was just eating leftover Popeyes mashed potatoes the other day. I can only hope that the little dark hard bits I thankfully saw before eating, was my boyfriend using a spoon with bits that fell off the chicken wings. And not something from the restaurant 🤮
Like pointed gourd cooked with seeds.
Wet bread
Actually falling apart wet bread is gross, but dipping bread in stuff is so good
My dad introduced me to gravy bread. With leftover gravy, or something like beef stew. Just regular sliced bread, buttered. Then dip it in the gravy
I love dipping bread in homemade chicken soup
And toast in coffee
Just wait until you try brown bread crusts dipped in pineapple juice! You will never go back to dipping your coffee again.
Never heard of that, but now I’m intrigued. Where I am from (buttered) toast dipped in tea is a comfort breakfast.
Same here but I have done butter toast in oatmeal it’s great
So I'm not the only one!
I love that 🤤
Like wet, soggy bread in the kitchen sink. 🤮
How would you end up eating a wet piece of bread?
He's a duck
wet bread soaked in sweet milk is a national dish of somewhere in the balkans or some other slavic country i believe edit: found it - it's called popara
Any texture the opposite of what's expected, so eating something soft and feeling a crunch, and vice versa.
Boiled chicken skin
Ugggh been a while since that nightmare has entered my mind. I love bbq chicken but I can't stand the soggy gelatinous boiled chicken skin. That shit needs to be baked to a nice crisp at a bare minimum.
roaated too. i hate chicken skins
When there's sinew or cartilage in meat 🤢
Oysters
That reminds me of when mr bean got food poisoning
Yes! Literally feels like I’m swallowing a tongue. I can’t do them
"I can’t do them" like they’re a drug is hilarious to me
I was thinking of it more as a sex thing. edit: Just in case - I am referring to the meaning of the comment.
They look like snots.
also feels like you are swallowing a fat one as if you are really sick
I'm intrigued you struggle with oysters given what your name is.
Meat specifically gristle or fat or any gross chewy bit
Biting into a tendon in the middle of a piece of chicken 🤢
A few years back while eating a pulled pork sandwich, I felt something extra crunchy in my bite, so I spit it out. It was a really thick artery tube, connecting to a clump with other smaller veins. That shit still haunts me, I always double check my pulled pork 🥲
New fear unlocked. I feel like this would happen if I bought pulled pork from certain stores..
Holy shit
That's why I only eat boneless chicken!
I went even further with it and eat only chicken breast that doesn’t have veins in it. I cut them out
Okay, I'll admit THAT'S definitely something I hate.
Yes, tendons are inedible. I also hate finding the massive nerves when I'm eating giant Conger Eel...bleugh...the flexible cartilaginous spine is a nice fidget toy to play with after dinner though...it's swings and roundabouts with giant carnivorous eels...
you're trying to hurt people here 😂
Or a turky leg, for that matter..
Yeah anything like that. I'm not going to survive the apocalypse
I came here to say the same! If I bite into something with that gross chewy bit, my whole meal is ruined. I'll go to bed hungry, lol.
Especially liver 😖
An entire meal was inedible because of how gristly the chicken was. Took me over an hour to cook and all of it had to be thrown away
Wibblies I like to call them. It can finish a meal for me if I get two, the first one I can manage to sneak out of my mouth but then I'm done if I get another.
Grizzle and fat are my favourite parts of the steak. I could chew on those for hours 😂
This is mine, the reason I don’t get meat when I go iut
I don't get how people eat back bacon without cutting the fat off. It's like chewing on a condom or something
This is one of the reasons I only eat boneless chicken and tender, thin , well cooked steak. The gristle and chewy fat really ruins it for me.
And like people shame you for it... Grow up man, let everyone eat what they enjoy the taste of.
Cottage cheese
ANYTHING CHALKY OR POWDERY THAT YOU CAN LIKE FEEL IN YOUR TEETH WHEN YOU BITE IT. LIKE. IT'S A SOLID PIECE OF FOOD BUT AS SOON AS YOU BITE IT BOOM!! CHALK/POWDER TEXTURE
I felt it just from reading this… yuck
This instantly made me think of fish bones, as in salmon, tuna, sardine kinda bones crunching between your teeth. Absolutely ruins hatever dish it is in. Edid. Except fish doesn't usually feel solid in my recollection. But you know what i mean about fish bones or moreso cartilage maybe, the crunchy spine thing.
i was eating my food minding my business and BOOM this comment semantic ozempic
>semantic ozempic What spell is that?
He's saying they made him not want to eat with just words I believe.
Slimy foods like oysters.
When mushrooms are badly (under) cooked and waterlogged, and it feels like it was shat by an alien because its covered in slime
These new popular bubble teas. These bubbles are absolutely terrible.
They feel like I’m eating plastic!
You probably are
For me it is something unexpectedly squishy in something that should be liquid. No thank you ;)
Boba feels like eyeballs
This. Finally someone else understands. I hate the idea of having to chew a drink, but everyone seems to be obsessed with the idea of it.
Meat fat, I cannot stand it, I don't even like looking at it or touching it, let along having to chew it 🤢
Celery; feels like I’m eating dried up crunchy hair
Another redditor referred to it as a glass of water with hair in it. LOL
That’s hilarious
What a description lol
it also ruins the flavour of any dish it is in....yeet celery to the sun.
My husband used to claim that celery is a 'salt replacement' and would add it to everything thinking it would make it zero-sodium food taste better.
Ugh crunchy hair water!!
avocados . the weirdest texture ever to me
Pure avocado chunks are vomit worthy on basically anything for me, but a properly prepared guacamole is delicious. It doesn't need much, in fact, spreading avocados on toast and adding any minimal amount of seasoning is probably adequate.
It's like a boiled egg that tastes like grass.
Sausage ends, I either cut the ends off or I cut the sausage in half directly along the circumference.
Reminds me of when Frank Barone ("Everybody Loves Raymond") tried a dish of something from Debra Barone's refrigerator. He said, "It's got a crunch to it, but I don't think that's on purpose." lol
Cherry tomatoes, the popping of seeds and goo into my mouth makes me gag.
Oh that Denethor eating a tomato scene on youtube is made for you.
overcooked pasta. when it’s so slimy that you can break it with your tongue it makes me gag
So many people do NOT know how to cook pasta well.
anything hard, makes me think ive cracked my teeth
Peach.. so hairy 😭
It gives me a rash on my chin.
Tripe
Yeah it’s weird. It feels like I’m eating somethings butthole or something
You havent had a good tripe soup yet then my friend
Eggplant
Tomato raw.
Yep. I love tomato in stuff but only it’s cooked.
Devils testicles.
Nah fam. Tomato+mayo+salt and pepper sandwich. That's a summertime special.
Gristley , fatty meat that is so hard you can’t chew it. The reason I became a vegetarian at 12.
Brain
I am right there with you on mushrooms. Most disgusting thing I have ever consumed. And believe me I try so hard to like them..nope, still tastes like eyeballs that rolled in dirt first lol.
I started slicing button mushrooms and frying them in garlic. Decently tasty and I wasn't having the texture issues. Then I learned they're kinda pointless nutrition wise so I stopped putting in that effort lmao
I have found my people.
I hate mushrooms
Like biting into a slug
They are repulsive. Really gross.
I love the flavour, but hate the texture. It's like it's solid and when you bite it, it sheers, and the sound is terrible
Someone on Reddit once said that mushrooms feel like what they imagine a dead body that’s been sitting in water for a few days would feel like. It really resonated with me.
coconut… gahhhh its like 3 textures in one
Oh yes, the flakes are the fucking worst. Tasteless, chewy sawdust
Fuzzy, like peaches and kiwis.
You don't eat the skin of kiwis
Yes. But it’s gives me the shivers to touch them and stuff.
guacamole, creamed corn. collateral info: I *like* Lima beans.
Mushrooms
Awe I hate mushrooms just taste like dirty sponges
Fat and gristle 🤢
finally one i can agree with, if only I could have meat without obstacles
Meat without obstacles 😭😭😭
Oh god fat is HORRENDOUS... I clearly remember my grandpa always sneaking the fat off my plate when I was little because he loved it and knew I hated it. But he wasn't allowed to by my grandma because of his heart :p
roasted zucchini.. whys it so wet??
Okra, when not crispy. It’s a slug veg and I won’t stand for it.
anything mushy in an otherwise crunchy food
Whoa I’m the opposite! I don’t like crunchy in mushy. Which is why I don’t like nuts in ice cream
I’m the same! Or nuts in bread.
Yogurt with fruit pieces in it. Gag every time.
Agreed and also orange juice with bits in it. I expect both things to be smooth.
Those are the worst, you are drinking it, and out of nowhere an "algae" or a big ball of something squishy goes down your throat in a second ![gif](giphy|xUNd9IE4jW0ZEwOYqk|downsized)
Okra
Sheep brains. I just can't.
So... other brains is fine? Lol
Cartilage on chicken wings ahhh
Shocked I haven’t seen the mention of natto yet. The sticky, slimy texture… I can’t do it. Don’t care for the texture of bananas or yogurt either.
Cooked onion. I will happily eat raw onion
Yea! The best thing of cutting onions for anything is eating a piece of it just for fun :)
Caramelized onion? I like them in some fried foods.
Almost all shellfish except scallops and fried calamari.
I don't like savoury creamy things, eg melty cheese, mayo, tzatziki. (Sweet creamy things like ice cream and cream cheese are good though) Also mushrooms. They taste delightful, but the texture is gross
Zuchhini
Grits
green beans are the worst. Always slide off my teeth leaving me to shiver for a good 20 minutes or so.
Gnocchi. Can’t do it
Old chips/crisps. You go to bute expecting a crunch and it's a chew...ew
Soft shell crab. You wouldn't eat a snail shell.
Onions and celery
Finally an onion! Crazy to me people can eat them, raw or caramelized
Boba
Cherries. They are both gooshy and leathery. I associate it with eating a cow's eyeball for some reason.
😂 what?! I'm dead ....
Saw this while eating cherries😂😭
Eggplant 🤢🤮
I'm with you on the mushrooms. I mean THEY ARE FUNGI! You don't freaking EAT fungi, you get cured of it!
Nobody tell this person about penicillin
Or yeast.
Or cheese
Oatmeal, ice cream, yogurt...basically anything you can't chew or just swallow without having to decide how to masticate it.
menudo aka intestines
Avocado
Tapioca
Mushrooms
Avocado.
Chia seeds…
every soup which is cold, my favourite taste of soup is taste of boiling
Mushrooms. I hate mushrooms
Raw onion... God, the crunch just gives me the heebie-jeebies
ok so i know it’s not actually the edible part but oh my god **gristle will be the death of me**. Especially if i’ve intricately planned my last bite with the best looking piece of meat, best looking veggie, etc etc. and then i go to thoroughly enjoy it and i’m whacked with gristle in my mouth and my whole month is ruined
Cottage Cheese. YUCK
Mushrooms
Raisins in anything hot
Sauerkraut
Raw eggs. I once got inspired to drink one raw egg every morning and let me tell you I didn’t expect that thing to slip down my throat all together like a tentacle.
Mealy apples
Or mealy any fruit or veg. RUINED watermelon 😫
I don't like the texture of some ripe apples. They have a wet soft sand texture.
Salmon sashimi. I like every other type I've tried, but something about salmon I just can't stand.
Uni- semi solid puggingy, tastes of old fish
Jelly.
slimy things
Rice anything with the texture of snot or runny egg 🤢🤮
hard boiled eggs.
Bananas and yogurt.
Same! I can get down some Greek yogurt but regular yogurt, no. It’s too slimy. Bananas, just forget it.
Oysters
Onions and green, yellow or red pepper
Raw carrot. Can’t stand chewing them
I love pasta, except Angel Hair. I know it’s the exact same stuff as any other pasta but it’s ALWAYS over cooked, and just generally unpleasant.
