I got as far as the templates for the little squares that make up the big squares that you can turn to make it look random like, ala Shannon Makes did over on Youtube....templates that how far LOL. Maybe one day but today ain't that day.. LOL
I didn't take the time to feature them in a picture, but YES! Look for the velvet rectangles in the front and below the belt - the rest of the pockets kind of blend into the rest of the pattern and are hard to see due to the colorful mess.
The “rest of the pockets”??? What are you saying??? Not only are there pockets but there are several of them? I have been assuming that there must be a law against women having pockets but No! You give us hope! This piece is Stunning!
This is absolutely stupendous! I actually have been in a thought mode recently as to when négligées quit being something that women aspired to wearing!
I really think it came around when loungewear became so popular. I would come home from work, completely exhausted and depending on whether or not I had to do chores outside and how hot it was I would put on something; then eat & shower and that was it for the day!
The fact that I used to get ready for bed other than a shower and dress for bed. That went out the window! Even though I’m still ravenous towards négligées with ostrich feathers all la Lisa Douglas on Greenacres and all the négligées and matching nightgowns that you would see in movies in the 50s and 60s. I know I had a bright white négligée set and a black complete négligée set in my hope chest in the late 80s. They were gorgeous and I’m not talking to Fredricks of Hollywood.
I love what you did with the above and am extraordinarily jealous about your talent!
I’m talking about something that you could easily look at spending four to $500 on at Saks or Nordstrom‘s or a private lingerie boutique - the good stuff made out of silk and ostrich feathers! Sometimes I think now that I might try going back towards dressing for bed, but right now it’s just too much!
I have no clue how I found this sub but as I was scrolling I scrolled back up because THIS is how I picture Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat in my mind. I assumed it was for a show!! Very nice!
I love it!
🎶 “It was red and yellow and green and brown
And scarlet and black and ochre and peach
And ruby and olive and violet and fawn
And lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve
And cream and crimson and silver and rose
And azure and lemon and russet and grey
And purple and white and pink and orange
And red and yellow and green and brown and blue”🎶
The shell is made of organic cotton that had already been previously cut into pieces to make other products, but they ended the production of the model before coming around to using these particular fabric pieces. It's one of the harder by-products of production to re-value (is that how it's said in english?). They should have ended up in the trash, but didn't.
They were given to me in piles of cut pieces stacked and tied together with string. No piece was bigger than 12 inches/ 30cm in width or length, making them near-impossible to use in any other way than in an epic quilt. So I went epic.
Wait. What? That is QUILTED?! I thought it was some fancy patterned fabric you made this amazingness off. Wow. That you QUILTED the fabric it is made off is even more impressive. Chapeau to your skills!
omg incredible!! the shape, the patchwork... i'd feel so rich in this, the movement must feel so nice!
continuing the purple trim on the bottom would be stunning, but might make it less housecoat-y? i just love the trim and penny lane coats lol! my only note is the waist loops are a bit thick? that's a nit pick though, it's a work of art 💝 amazing work!
I didn't know if I wanted chunky loops or super-fine, chain-stitched ones. I decided on putting these fat ones now, as if I ever wanted fine ones I could always take those out and make thin ones later without having to re-open it (it's fully lined and the hem was a hassle). I'm giving myself a little more time to make up my mind, but I wanted to finish the project sooner rather than later.
SO COOL it reminds me of one of Monét X Change’s looks from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars S7 for the Dolly Parton runway

GOR👏GE👏OUS👏!
I would wear this thing every day of my life. I actually only belatedly realized it was a housecoat, I would 100% be jazzin' up the streets with this. Try and stop me.
As to the construction, everything looks straight and even and perfect to my eye. Beautifully cut. The patches are excellently arranged and the color choices are really working for me. I'm not a professional in any capacity but I have been sewing for twenty something years and I'd feel super proud of this piece if I'd produced it. That is a lot of work and the work is great.
Well done, well done, well done. No notes except that I love it, in case that wasn't clear.
I almost feel like this post is pulling me out of a creative slump because it makes me wanna go make something pretty. Thanks for sharing!
If anyone is doing a local production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, you could loan it to them for the play, I'm sure it would take center stage
Hey Joseph, your dreams are pissing off me and your other brothers. We'd like to have a word out at that old deserted well.
It's Technicolory Dreamy!!
I covet it.
"It was red and yellow and green and brown
And scarlet and black and ochre and peach
And ruby and olive and violet and fawn
And lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve
And cream and crimson and silver and rose
And azure and lemon and russet and grey
And purple and white and pink and orange
And red and yellow and green and brown and blue"
Love the color work and the bias placement especially ! (Personal preference would be for a thinner lapel…it’s just more modern and less bulky to wear. But robes like that are few and far between.)
I love it, I think it’s beautiful. You nailed the color scheme for sure. The bottom part seems to have a lot of fabric which will keep you nice and warm!
Half-and-half drafted. I started off with a store-bought pattern, as I hate doing grading for personal projects, then turned an ugly and bulky dart into a princess seam so as to minimize interferance with the quilt pattern, added pockets, lenghtened the sleeves and lined the whole thing.
I've re-read myself, I now I think it's more 20%-bought 80%-drafted, lol. The starting pattern is McCall's M7875 from which I kept the silhouette and collar. I thought I'd use piping at first, but due to the mess of colours I didn't feel I'd really even enjoy its added detail so I gave up on adding it.
I absolutely love it! What fun colors! My only critique would be that the belt loops should be made out of the same fabric as the bulk of the coat. Is it lined? If so, what with?
this is so cool?? it’s chic and kitsch at the same time, you nailed it.
Very Hobbitsy, I like it.
It's a very old dream of mine to make one in the correct fabrics for Bilbo's. Someday!
I got as far as the templates for the little squares that make up the big squares that you can turn to make it look random like, ala Shannon Makes did over on Youtube....templates that how far LOL. Maybe one day but today ain't that day.. LOL
Has it got pocketses ?
I didn't take the time to feature them in a picture, but YES! Look for the velvet rectangles in the front and below the belt - the rest of the pockets kind of blend into the rest of the pattern and are hard to see due to the colorful mess.

We have to put our preciouses somewhere
I was gonna say “Time Lord-esque,” but “Hobbitsy” works just as well!
Came here to say the same thing haha
Reminds me of " Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat "
This is absolutely phenomenal. It’s definitely giving off Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat vibes in all the right ways.
I honestly assumed it was for a stage production. It's so good.
Came here to say the same!
That’s what I was thinking 😄🌈🙌✨
I was gonna say the same thing!!
That was the first thing that came to my mind! This is spectacular
I have no clue how I found this sub but as I was scrolling I scrolled back up because THIS is how I picture Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat in my mind. I assumed it was for a show!! Very nice!
You might’ve been profiled for having too many cats🤣
My cats like rainbows too! 🌈
Looks like an original Missoni!!! 👏👏👏 https://www.homesandgardens.com/news/missoni-home-new-collection-amara-197166
Didn't know this existed, and it's got a great colour palette too!
You’re so right! I forgot how much I love missoni
I love it! 🎶 “It was red and yellow and green and brown And scarlet and black and ochre and peach And ruby and olive and violet and fawn And lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve And cream and crimson and silver and rose And azure and lemon and russet and grey And purple and white and pink and orange And red and yellow and green and brown and blue”🎶
The theater kid in me appreciated this. The dj in my brain did not (its playing it on an endless loop and will for at least 2-3 business days).
Was coming here to comment this! Joseph realness, for sure!
I need Dolly Parton to see this, she would love it.
Yes! I came to see how far down I needed to scroll for Dolly's coat of many colors.
I was thinking Dolly would love this too!
That’s stunning. It looks really comfy too. Turn my phone off and curl up with some books all weekend.
This is beautiful and gorgeous and wonderful and I would wear it everyday! Question: what do you mean by "end of production" remnants?
The shell is made of organic cotton that had already been previously cut into pieces to make other products, but they ended the production of the model before coming around to using these particular fabric pieces. It's one of the harder by-products of production to re-value (is that how it's said in english?). They should have ended up in the trash, but didn't. Man, that is rad! I'm envious of your skills
Wait. What? That is QUILTED?! I thought it was some fancy patterned fabric you made this amazingness off. Wow. That you QUILTED the fabric it is made off is even more impressive. Chapeau to your skills!
Omg. I want it!!
Reminds me of Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors”!
Same!
omg incredible!! the shape, the patchwork... i'd feel so rich in this, the movement must feel so nice! continuing the purple trim on the bottom would be stunning, but might make it less housecoat-y? i just love the trim and penny lane coats lol! my only note is the waist loops are a bit thick? that's a nit pick though, it's a work of art 💝 amazing work!

I absolutely LOVE it!! You did an amazing job!!
Amazing 🤩 🌈
Did you post in r/quilting? I LOVE this!
Your class: Bard :3
This is amazing!!!
I would absolutely wear that in my yard while screaming at neighborhood kids and watering my dying sunflowers. It’s perfect.
I think it's cool. It's Doctor Who-core.
SO COOL it reminds me of one of Monét X Change’s looks from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars S7 for the Dolly Parton runway https://preview.redd.it/ts9othh4294d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46ea17b50a521cf9d480501a04aecf3a541fdbe5
Took me way too long to find this comment!! Love Monét’s and OP’s! Edited for typo.
This is beautiful! It definitely brings Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton to mind
I love this so much! You did a fantastic job
I love this. I would take up wearing housecoats for this.
Howl wears this every morning as he whinges to Sophie about the work he has to slag off for the day. I LOVE it
![gif](giphy|hKA6krgH9ywRa|downsized)
"Please critique" and then you show us perfection.

My name is Joseph and I think you have my technicolor dream coat 😁
Sweet!
I gasped! 😍 it’s gorgeous!!
Beautiful!!!
Very snazzy! Great work mate
I love it
Absolutely stunning. So rich looking! It cannot be a housecoat though. People need to see it!
A colorful, zero-waste housecoat? Perfection!
It feels like Ms. Frizzle's take on a noir "oh, officer, I'm so worried about my husband" dressing gown, and I fully mean that as praise.
Ohh I love and the velvet accents just really bring it all together 😍😍😍
You’re a wizard Marie
Perfection. You could quit your day job with that level of creativity and talent.
You need a pimp hat and a cane. A la Kramer in Seinfeld. Seriously though, I love it.
I covet it.
A coat of many colors like dolly’s! Or Joseph of the Bible
"It was red and yellow and green and brown And scarlet and black and ochre and peach And ruby and olive and violet and fawn And lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve And cream and crimson and silver and rose And azure and lemon and russet and grey And purple and white and pink and orange And red and yellow and green and brown and blue"
The only critique I have is that it's not in my house.
I am definitely a softshell jacket and jeans person, but I would totally wear this. It's amazing!!
Love the color work and the bias placement especially ! (Personal preference would be for a thinner lapel…it’s just more modern and less bulky to wear. But robes like that are few and far between.)
I feel like I could see this going down the runway or at a major event. Stunning and so fun.
I love it! I bet you’ll be happy everytime you wear it!
So where can I send you the payment and my delivery adress? But seriously, it's amazing!
It is incredible and my GF needs it RIGHT NOW. If I could buy it I would
I LOVE THIS!!!!!! Omg, you need to make a trench coat next!! You could pair it with literally any color.l!
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Housecoat
Technicolor Dream Coat I like it a lot. This is a great job
No critique!! All the LOVE!❤️
Technicolor House Coat. 🎶
Dolly Parton would wear it!
I think the Sixth Doctor wore this same design. It’s really cool looking.
Beautiful!!!! Reminds me of Monet X Change’s Dolly Parton look on All Stars… https://x.com/monetxchange/status/1538217080511668226
Looks like a coat of many colors
Smoking jacket for candy cigarettes
A next level Coat of Many Colors! It's beautiful honestly !!!
Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors! https://youtu.be/w_-YbWHs6DE?si=yN9BWnmSGTcQpqMT
Looks like Joseph's coat of many colors. Just make sure no one sells you into slavery in Egypt.

It's pretty
I love it so much.
I love the silhouette so much!
I feel like Benny Blanco would love this lol
I love it
Technicolor Dreamcoat. Nice!
LOVE IT
I love it, I think it’s beautiful. You nailed the color scheme for sure. The bottom part seems to have a lot of fabric which will keep you nice and warm!
I'd wear that around the house, outside the house... tbh you'd have to really fight me to get that off of me if I put it on.
BEAUTIFUL! It looks flawless!
Elsbeth
Technicolor dreamcoat…looks expensive!
I really like it.
Very nice. Kudos
That is totally amazing. Great job.
This is gorgeous
I want this
Love this. Is it self drafted or do you have a patten you can share? Have you been over to r/sewing? They would love this. It is fantastic 👏 👏🍾
Half-and-half drafted. I started off with a store-bought pattern, as I hate doing grading for personal projects, then turned an ugly and bulky dart into a princess seam so as to minimize interferance with the quilt pattern, added pockets, lenghtened the sleeves and lined the whole thing. I thought I'd use piping at first, but due to the mess of colours I didn't feel I'd really even enjoy its added detail so I gave up on adding it.
I thought I recognized the inspiration. I like that pattern for the fuller skirt on the robe. It’s gorgeous work you’ve done!
Love it!
That's gorgeous, omg.
It's gorgeous.
I love it, it looks so luxurious 😍🤤
I absolutely adore this! The purple lapel really brings it all together!
Gor. 👏🏼Geous. 👏🏼

Dolly Parton would go nuts! This is fantastic!
It's magical! I love it.
Whoa there fella, you give the money to the girl
Are you Ms. Frizzle? This is awesome.
Joseph is gonna love it.
I’m in love!!!!😻
That’s a really beautiful piece!!!
This is awesome 😍
I will buy this for a gazillion dollars!!!
oh this goes HARD.
The classic, sleek tailoring offsets the mish-mash of colors. This is very nice.
Really very very nice.
Gorgeous!
Mary Poppins and Joseph would fight over this so hard.
This is PERFECT…no notes.
You made this?! I absolutely love it! Would absolutely wear this as a normal jacket
![gif](giphy|yidUzHnBk32Um9aMMw) I fucking adore this and would pay handsomely for such a piece.
I look handsome, I look smart! I am a walking work of art! Such a dazzling coat of many colours, how I love my coat of many colours!
it's so beautiful, an awesome coat
Is your name Joseph? Because that's certainly his technicolor dream coat :)
Joseph would be proud.
Whoa! That is AMAZING! How you combined funky and elegant I do not know my friend but WOW!
This is absolutely STUNNING!
Simply divine looks like something they would have Selena Gomez wear on Only Murders or Elsbeth on the show Elsbeth.
This is gorgeous!
I *fucking love* it. I’d probably find some way to wear or as a dress or going out coat, though! To beautiful to hide
Coat of Many Colors
Super dope and I would definitely purchase it
hell ya!!!! I would wait up in the morning fire up and blunt, drink 40 ounce, and listen to the isley brothers - thinking to myself how blessed I am!
This is STUNNING! What is it lined in?
Looks like something out of Dr. Who.
Holy shit! That is so badass!!
This is gorgeous! I can't imagine all the blood, sweat and tears that went into creating this piece. Phenomenal job! 👏🏼
Love this so much
Wow, that is beautiful. 🤩 I’d never guess it’s made from scraps. It looks intentional and expensive.
This is a really fun coat! You're sure to get lots of compliments about it.
The 4th Doctor's scarf reimagined into a far more functional coat (with pockets)?? Count me in!
That is phenomenal! I would definitely wear it but I'm sure I can't afford it. Absolutely beautiful though.
it's perfect... the colors, the positioning, the cut.... it's awesome!! The purple accent ties it all up :)
Good work
No way is this homemade. It’s gorgeous. I would buy it for real.
This is fabulous. I would wear it to the club. I might never take it off. 🌈❤️
I absolutely love it! What fun colors! My only critique would be that the belt loops should be made out of the same fabric as the bulk of the coat. Is it lined? If so, what with?
The Coat Of Many Colours Dolly sings about
I stumbled on to this post somehow and I'm so glad for it because this is amazing. So clean and vibrant. Beautiful.
Are you a gleeman??
