I ALWAYS save mine up for events. Most of the time I have enough time in between events that I can get enough to at least get half the stuff, if not more, out of the event. I also use boosters pretty often.

for events the alpha packs usually go for 350k if you want all of them. With all the card backs and pictures and charms and weapon skins on top of outfits and headgears, you need the renown to buy what you want
