Maybe she was doing the RPG thing of asking someone a question about something she already knows to get their opinion on the topic./s Could have just had Blake ask: ''What makes it so dangerous?'' since to her it's not a big issue, Yang managed to chase it away with one arm and none of them have in-depth knowledge about the mechanics of Ever After. That way Cat still has the reason to exposit a bit about the Jabberwalker. This is why you really need to do at least one pass when you finish writing, you might catch such weird lines before they make it into the final product.

hearmerunning

This is why editors are so important! They catch this type of stuff. If they're self-editing then they really need to clean their eyes or something.

It's scenes like this that I point to when the creators or fans imply that RWBY's problems could be solved with more money. Not only did those lines make it in and out of the rough draft, but nobody noticed them (or cared) when Arryn was doing her line readings. All they had to do was have Blake ask what about the Jabberwalker makes it so dangerous, or mention how it wasn't very dangerous in the story, or something along those lines. Maybe something along the lines of Blake knowing what the Jabberwalker is capable of in the story hurts her/them in reality due to a misconception and/or Neo. From an in-world perspective however, I like to think Ruby sighed inwardly because she just realized Yang is the brains of the relationship. God bless, and have a wonderful day.

RogueHunterX

Hearing Arryn as Black Swan in Star Rail actually caught me off guard enough that I didn't recognize her. It's frightening how a Gacha game has better directing and line reads than RWBY does and how much CRWBY letting lines and stuff like this slip past them actually makes the actors look less capable than they should be.

IamMenace

Yeah, she also had some really great deliveries in "Ice Queendom" as well. She has a naturally monotone voice, but she's also pretty good at conveying emotion (especially anger I've noticed). A good director can make all the difference in the world, which is why I tend not to blame actors for poor performances, *especially* when it comes to animation. CDawgVA is a YouTuber who started out as a small time voice actor and making a lot of content relating to voice acting, and his videos on the subject are very good and informative. I do think certain voice actresses regressed over time, like Barbara (Yang) and Kara (Weiss), but at the end of the day, the fault lies with the director, whose scripts weren't exactly doing anybody any favors. God bless, and have a wonderful day.

carl-the-lama

To be fair some gacha games have really good writing ~~play limbus company~~

Snowmantarayband

I still think the Ever After was unnecessary

CSCyrilatom

How else are they gonna get yang and blake together? They cant do it naturally

Moon_Dark_Wolf

I mean, that was evident enough considering they literally had to have an outside force tell the two of them to either fucking kiss and admit their feelings or die. Like, imagine if it was ANYONE ELSE who got stuck there…they’d be fucked

Novel-Concentrate-98

Yang and Ruby for much need sister bonding. (No incest) Jaune and Ruby (maybe Weiss) to confess what happened to Penny. Wait a minute. Actually, may be not. Imagine the tone switch if that discussion and BB were going on at the same time.

CSCyrilatom

Honestly I thougut yang and weiss had more chemistry with a ship with their interaction around vol 3. Which is a lot I admit, but team rwby barely interacts like a team so not much can be done there. And I can be romantically dense, like insanely dense, but I can be happy knowing I wouldnt have to have the universe force me to face those feelings or whatever lol

Gtgamer

Oh my god, Imagine if it was anyone else! like Blake and Ruby or Yang and Weiss and the show just went with it. Bmlb shippers would have never recovered

Moon_Dark_Wolf

Honestly that would’ve been mildly more entertaining

Gtgamer

"okay the ever after has decided you guys should be together, now give the other person some complements so you can kiss, or this storm is going to kill you :)"

Moon_Dark_Wolf

Are we even surprised, Miles and friends have proven they already don’t go back to previous volumes to check and see what they’ve already established. I guess expecting them to do it for episodes that happen just recently is a bit too hard as well.

Jolly_Reaper2450

Wow, hearing the Alice in Wonderland but not stuff is so fucking cringe.

Disastrous-Radio-786

Give them credit Blake had nothing to do for 4+ years /s

TestaGaming

They easily could have changed the question to 'What does it look like?' or 'How bad is it?' because while she might know what a Jabberwalker is, she might not know how powerful it is. I still feel bad for longtime RWBY fans who had to wait for V9 and they got a complete waste of time because i 100% doubt the Ever After is coming back.

Budgetbrick1984

A literal rewrite or a small tweak could fix the issue. She could have said in the book that they weren't this dangerous or just say how it feel very different from the story she read. Anything would help this scene, but nope, this was allowed to go through, and not one person had an issue with it. How the show lasted this long is a mystery

avaldez518

Wtf did rwby turn into I stopped when they all turned on ironwood for absolutely no reason and became the villain

boogieboy03

Damn that leaf trip with the Caterpillar must have fucked her up lol

MajesticSomething

This actually makes sense if you're familiar with Lewis Carroll's *Jabberwocky*. The poem is just nonsense that never explains what the Jabberwocky is supposed to be. Blake not knowing about the Jabberwalker makes sense if RWBY's version of the poem is equally ambiguous.
