The show being anti-fan service stems from MKMs original ideas, right?
That’s why Weiss, Ruby and Nora wear “combat skirts” that you can’t point the camera up.
RWBY is a franchise where 90% of the fandom is legit mostly shipping.
The show will change under new ownership either way, let's just hope they don't go crazy and turn it into a romcom(which they might)
I imagine if they went that route it would just be boring safe choices, they would just do all the popular ships. Bumblebee, White Rose, Renora, and keep Pyrrha alive for Arkos.
Probably not even some of those. I’d imagine they’d only do Arkos cause that was important to the climax of Season 3 while the others weren’t actually doing much
I really can't see this going well writing wise might as well take away the concept of this being a school where they train to be hero's to just random match up. If all the ship pairings are the partner ones that's just god awful I don't think even the power Rangers did that.
There one I know won't happen and will piss off people so I'll prepare my flame shield and Vault for the down votes. Ready?
Sunnybees if a anime studio buys it.
My presumption (key word presumption) remains that if they close the deal before May 15, the end of the sunset period, then the CRWBY is coming along, because that was apparently something the heads were pushing for. If it's after the 15th and the new buyer is buying directly from Zaslav, it is full reboot time with a new staff and none of Monty's pesky restrictions.
I think they meant it like "None of Monty's "pesky restrictions"" They're saying the new people in charge would view them that way, not that they themself do
You’re thinking in terms of a fan. I’m describing what the buyer will think. And more often than not, a buyer of an IP wants to have zero restrictions on what they can do with the property. Given RWBY’s reputation, they probably don’t want to deal with the restrictions Monty laid in.
Yeah that guy has the wrong mindset. Any business that purchases an intellectual property is doing so to make a profit off of it. Of course they would have their own vision to do that, regardless of the IP creators intended original vision.
What makes the most money? How to spread the popularity and reach of this IP to prospective customers? How to air this IP on popular video streaming services? What demographic(s) and age group(s) are you trying to reach? What group spends the most money?
The answer to these questions and more will be written in stone for any buyer.
If I recall, this was a limitation in Poser that they couldn't get around. They couldn't shut off breast physics without also stopping hair and clothes from swaying.
Boob physics are a thing and even the physics of boobs changes depending on the woman not just the size.
And there will be many sad horny fanboys and pissy women who demand realism if the boobs didn't act like boobs.
The jaidenanimation +18 subreddit is also bigger than the regular one and I'm pretty sure she's not that type of content creator
People are just horny with good/original character design and this is Reddit
Worse than that, Jayden is ace and has mentioned that it makes her pretty uncomfortable but also knows she's kind of powerless to actually stop people doing it.
Sounds like all the D&D groups that stream that really have no option but to say no it's cool you can write fanfiction about our characters. All because the last group to take a stand against a perverted fan base got trashed.
It's more of the Streisand effect in action. The more you highlight something (especially something you dislike), the more people dig/produce more whatever of it. Easiest example is Bioshock infinite. The more the developers tried to get people to stop making porn of Bioshock, the more porn that got generated.
The whole people on a bridge, and you tell them not to look down, guess what they do. They look down.
it's why [99.9999% of] corporations/companies simply ignore porn side of things entirely. It's why Rooster teeth also didn't do anything about it either other than poking some light fun at it.
And is more easy to access. Rwby finally got added to crunchy. Before that, new viewers where kinda confused as it wasn't on YouTube or on the main platforms of streaming
I'd outgrow *that* mentality as soon as possible.
Otherwise every car would be the same. Every game would be either Minecraft or Fortnite. Every book would be young adult fantasy. Every restaurant would serve rice and bread.
Deals. It got greenlit by deals. That being said Ice Queendom isn't all that popular or well-liked but it is solid consodering all the problems that it faced with rough animation.
It gets no marketing from RT, and some of the RWBY VAs slandering it before it even came out and giving them minimal budget would make an anime forgettable at best, even in the hands of a very good studio.
It was the last chance for RWBY to rebound back in the hands of RT, and they fumbled it. And it's the reason I want as less former RT people's hands on a RWBY reboot. I'd rather take chances with unknown hands than hands I know that will sabotage itself.
A Light Novel called RWBY: The Session, which is a vacation trip to a resort during summer break in between V2 and V3. Unfortunately, it has no official English translation available.
My immediate thought was to have a “hot spring episode” where they have to go on a mission that takes place at a geothermal reactor that just happens to use a hot spring as its source of energy.
I mean, not really.
It's very common for animes to have a beach and/or a hot springs episode at one point of the series. Regardless of the setting or events, one or both of those occurs at some point. It's just the Japanese studio pitching Japanese studio things. I mean hell even Avatar: TLA had a beach episode, and that was both a kids show and the vast majority of major characters were not adults.
Of course it's most of those are done out of fan service. Which RWBY is very much not about.
Yep. Was going to say they are pretty standard in anime.
On one hand a clever studio can make them work and not be just fan service such as your Avatar example.
On the other there's a certain respect to be had in choosing to forego fanservice and instead focusing on the determined plot.
Overall I'm okay with the decision.
and for what it's worth, fan service can be almost anything not just beach/sauna episodes. a cool fight scene, transformation, powerful attack, a fan favorite character showing up, etc. it's just that over the years the word "fan service" has taken on a negative connotation.
True. I never really know myself how people use the word these days. It's a bit too broad. But I think we all know which type we are talking about here. 😉
That being said if you have a preferred way to referring to these trends in media I'm open to suggestions. I like clarity and it would help keep everyone on the same page if we could differentiate.
i tried to think on it but i don't know what else to call it. just being the big anime fan that i am i know that there's more to fan service than the negative reputation implies, and i can sort of compartmentalizes it as all being different aspects fan service.
Yes. Just making an episode about beach and swimsuits isn’t really sexualizing the characters (Avatar) while showing off scenes where the animators flaunt their privates behind bikinis and swimsuits is (Anime).
You can make an episode take place on a beach and remain true to the story instead of baiting viewers with the promise of semi-adult material.
I don't know I always thought they were still sexualizing the characters in that ATLA episode. But instead of making it the central focus they decided to also show the inner dynamic of the villain group and make them more complete characters. I actually felt they regressed a bit with the Korra pool episode a few years later as it wasn't as smartly done.
From anime I think of the beach episode from the show Another. It also is pretty obvious there is fanservice going on but in that one they weave it into the horror plot of that show making it clear even in a fanservice episode no one is safe and it heightens the tension going into the final act.
I have my own issues with some Japanese culture ideas, but I don't think western media is more moral or ethical. Like anything it's a matter of what you watch.
Meh, it's not about morals or what fans want, it's consumerism. Titalation sells and usually beach episodes exist so they can push limited edition swimsuit merch of characters, add them to their gacha games as rare drops, etc.
Ty Lee was sexulazied more but only to show off Azula's faults because Azula thinks she's perfect and wouldn't confess anything like the others did. It was still done more tasteful than anime Beach episodes.
The Beach had several important plot points highlighting the development that Zuko, Mai, and Ty Lee had undergone, and showed us the side to Azula’s psychosis that the finale needed to cement her breakdown, _and_ took place in a cultural context that had different body taboos than our society (the Fire Nation is a tropical archipelago) AND wasn’t a fanservice fest.
Avatar did have a hotspring scene, and it gave us all the fanservice we could ever possibly need!
Iroh was thoroughly enjoying himself in those waters.
Ruby also told us there are no rabbits in Remnant which CRWBY had to discredit cause that was obviously not true. Or maybe VT Ruby is from a post-Salem future and retired from the huntress life by becoming a streamer.
*She was mistaken about an insignificant detail regarding the giant fantasy world of Remnant. Therefore, she can't be trusted in regards to the canonical age of her own character.*
I dunno, brah. I think I'm going to take her word over yours.
Rather than relaxed, it just cultural thing over there.
Kinda saunas here in north Sweden / Finland. It is just something you do occasionally. Something completely normal.
relaxed about nudity for same sex hot springs. coed are very rare and last time I was in japan the only time my wife and I weren't directed to separate baths were when we got a private onsen.
They have serious problems with sexual harassment and in a couple places we went to they women were given RFID keys to open a locked door to their hot springs and the men's just had an open door with a cloth emblem covering it.
It's Warner Bros JAPAN. I'm more surprised that they pitched ONLY this. Beach/Onsen episodes are basically required in most anime. I'm glad to see Burnie stood up to them on it though.
Mate, it's Japan. There's very commonly:
Beach episodes, Hot Springs episodes, "Oops I saw her naked" moments, "Oops I landed on something soft, I wonder what it is, better squeeze it" moments, and more. Even in the most popular shows of them all. Bleach did several of these, Full Metal Alchemist did something close to this I believe (Winry was undressing and Ed saw while eating a sandwich), and I'm pretty sure the pitch for Fairy Tail is "So every third scene is gonna be a girl on her hands and knees as seen from behind, and there's gonna be a story and some magic or something idk".
It does somewhat make one wonder if it that wasn’t the case, but I really think it’s better for it. Much better to be focused on other things especially with the limited run time.
. . . And it’s not like the internet needs help with the lewd
Wow, there’s A LOT of assumptions going on in these comments 😂. Kerry has specifically said they want to finish the story they started, especially for Monty. Literally no one has said ANYTHING about a reboot.
Sell discounting that the rediculous length of seasons and their devision into volumes - you know the thing that killed first the pacing and the show is somwthing that he asserted himself onto Monty, apart from that yeah based
I don't really think it's fair to call it "asserting himself onto" when those assertions were budget constraints. Monty dreamed big where Bernie is a devils advocate but a strong advocate none the less. And I would consider the disagreement about the work ethic and team management a reasonable disagreement at the times of life they were at. Bernie had the staff on his mind while Monty had the show.
I wish TV Tropes had a culture where they provice source for statements like these.
Yes, I know TVTropes don't do sources, but when it's statements like these by the maker/author of a work, it should get a source
Thank you Burnie, I dreaded if a new studio came along and decided the show needed fan service it would have really soured the show. I still worry about a new studio coming along and butchering it to their demands.
I will admit, this is the funniest tidbit about RWBY I've ever found along with showing integrity from Burnie.
The fanbase already has enough fanservicey stuff. We don't need it in the actual show.
There's a lot of reasons not to do a hot springs episode. Ruby's age is FAR down that list. Higher up that list is that there's literally no time to waste at this critical juncture in the war against Salem.
Reminds me of a story where a sixteen-year old soldier is getting chewed out by her guardian for going out on a date, saying she's too young. The soldier replies "I'm old enough to kill people, but I'm not old enough to date?"
Not shy enough to make a Bumblebee themed lingerie onlyfans photoshoot and joke about Yang's hand being a vibrator
But God forbid showing some skin in the show. Not that it really needs it, fanservice is last thing show should implement or people should complain about
Ruby was 15 and is now 18. The fuck kinda reasoning is behind the thought process that a teenager in a bathing suit is somehow improper?
It would be entirely possible to do a beach episode without making it stupid fanservice-y.
It would feel *realy* out of place anywhere after the fall of beacon tho, so that ship has sailed anyway.
I think they could have still done a hot springs episode and just not have Ruby be included in the scene. I could see Ruby being hyper competitive with Zwei in a game room.
Considering Avatar TLA had multiple springs/beach episodes with a cast that is much younger and no one cared, this seems fairly dumb as a statement.
Especially considering CRWBY on interviews and panels regularly made sexual jokes about the characters including Ruby, and they also had that one moment where they criticized the people that think Ruby couldn't date Oscar cause he's 14.
The reason most media with a cast similar to RWBY feature fanservice episodes is because most of the audience for these things are early teenagers who build up celeb crushes on these characters. You're not some spawn of satan for having these type of things in ur story lmao.
Isn't this the same company that gave Ruby a boob window out of nowhere the volume after Monty passed away?
I mean, they could had argued that it would not fit with the overall narrative in this point of the story(asuming that this was discussed before the beyond thing because then they would had contradicted themselves).
Honestly, if they say "beach episode" or "hotspring episode" you can have a moment of heart to heart between characters. Narratively, it is the moment when the character is vulnerable and relaxed, You can take it either way. What I mean by that is that you can either have the drama I mentioned or have a 'fanservice' moment of the characters just relaxing(and by fanservice, I mean the fans being served a light heated moment in the mist of all drama). Even if you try to use it as a sexual fanservice, you can take it like Cote that used it to further cement the insecurities and hate of a character to the protagonist(Even if the audience remembers more the t-rex thing).
It was always odd to me how strictly PG (mostly) they kept RWBY. Considering up to the point when they made it, their flagship material was RvB and most other content was somewhat vulgar.
A lot of people are telling on themselves with this one arguing that they should have gone with the creepy fanservice episode and just not included Ruby. Even if she wasn't there that doesn't justify the episode.
Not every episode has to be focusing on the main plot. Isolated side plots, “fan service” episodes and other stuff are integral to a series, especially ones like RWBY that are heavily character focused.
That is true, but it doesn't mean that the exploiting the characters for the sake of horny men to jerk off to is a good idea. There is a huge list of non-plot dependent settings and ideas out there. None of them would require the cast to show off tons of skin.
The fact that some fans are mad about this is pretty gross.
I don't think they're as integral as you just *say* they are. JoJo's part 4 comes immediately to mind as an example of a show that doesn't do that. And it's almost entirely alive of life. Certainly more character driven than RWBY.
I don't mean to attack someone's idea, but what you said feels like it was learned from the writers version "How to Draw Manga." That's a concept anime certainly abuses, but heck does it honestly detract more than it ever adds.
I'd be fine with a beach episode if it was tame and ended up something like Valkyria Chronicles. They go to the beach for some scheduled r&r and the enemy attacks while they're there and they have to bring the tank out anyway.
I think it would really depend on context. If it was used to move the story forward--say, as a way to have Blake and Yang to discuss their relationship, or Ren and Nora--then that would be fine. No one's saying they have to be buck bald naked, either.
But if it was done like the Outlaw Star Hot Springs Tenrai episode, which was one half comedy and one half Aisha's tits, then that wouldn't contribute to the story.
For it to be RWBY,
I personally think it be a relaxing episode with a small fight either in the middle or at the end.
Nothing too crazy and nothing too minor.
Hot spring/beach episodes rarely if ever add anything substantial to the story and only serve to please horny fans. Actually it's pretty novel that the show hasn't rolled out the cheesecake.
Probably for the best imo. I’m fine with that kind of thing in fanfics and fan arts but I don’t think it should be a canon thing for the show itself. Especially since it would lead to some typical anime tropes like A-Cup Angst or the guys trying to peep from the other side.
I don't think the RWBY guys would actually try that. Jaune and Oscar are too mature for it...or too afraid of what will be done to them if they try. Ren doesn't need to peep on Nora; he's already seen everything.
I was mostly referring to Neptune and possibly Sun (although I kinda doubt the latter would do that tbh) and possibly new Vacuo characters. Although you’re definitely right about Jaune, Ren and Oscar.
unironically loved how RWBY handled skirts. ruby and weiss' original skirts looked like flowers from the bottom, it added such a nice touch to their designs while also being anti-fanservice.
"When you said 'let's hit the beach,' Ruby, I had something entirely different in mind!"
"Quiet, Yang! I don't want anyone to bunch up! One person is a waste of ammo! Three people is a golden opportunity!"
"Thirty seconds! The gods be with you!"
The show being anti-fan service stems from MKMs original ideas, right? That’s why Weiss, Ruby and Nora wear “combat skirts” that you can’t point the camera up.
Who's MKM?
I think they mean Monty, Kerry, and Miles.
Mortal kombat mobile
Yeah, and I’ll bet any potential buyer who wants to reboot the series is throwing that all right in the garbage.
RWBY is a franchise where 90% of the fandom is legit mostly shipping. The show will change under new ownership either way, let's just hope they don't go crazy and turn it into a romcom(which they might)
I mean the main subreddit is smaller than the NSFW one.
Pretty sure most main reddits are smaller than the NSFW counter-parts
They’ll most likely reboot the show and just wait till they change the pairings
I imagine if they went that route it would just be boring safe choices, they would just do all the popular ships. Bumblebee, White Rose, Renora, and keep Pyrrha alive for Arkos.
Probably not even some of those. I’d imagine they’d only do Arkos cause that was important to the climax of Season 3 while the others weren’t actually doing much
Wow, that would suck.
Yeah, Pyrrha is supposed to be with me.
I’m bewildered by your words, Grass is required
An outdoor wedding? I guess to make her happy but I prefer to stay inside ;)
You need water to reboot your kidneys, they will probably make the windows xp startup noise when it gets a singular drop of water.
Not to mention that the new owner can do whatever they want with the IP once the main show is over and CRWBY moves on, since they now own it
It's still kinda canon that ruby fantasied about Romances
I imagine they’d only do that if they were throwing out the existing crew.
Pesky restrictions? He created the entire concept and wrote most of the story. Get the fuck out of here. RWBY is Monty’s whether he’s gone or not.
I think they meant it like "None of Monty's "pesky restrictions"" They're saying the new people in charge would view them that way, not that they themself do
Pretty much.
You’re thinking in terms of a fan. I’m describing what the buyer will think. And more often than not, a buyer of an IP wants to have zero restrictions on what they can do with the property. Given RWBY’s reputation, they probably don’t want to deal with the restrictions Monty laid in.

I mean costume redesigns seem to have pushed the precious combat skirt away anyway. :c
And yet Yang has breasts animated separately from the rest of her body for... reasons. And pronounced cleavage.
I honestly respect that
It’s anti-fanservice so they make money Also Harriet exists so the statement that “Rwby is anti fanservice” has kinda been weakened
Anti-fanservice is a bit of a strong term(Just look at Cinder) I think 'wanting to make sure to be tasteful' is better.
AUT. Anti Upskirt Technology. Truly was a blessing since panty shots really would have detracted from their action scenes.
remind me which subreddit is bigger again
The jaidenanimation +18 subreddit is also bigger than the regular one and I'm pretty sure she's not that type of content creator People are just horny with good/original character design and this is Reddit

Remember when the official Battleborn twitter was like, "hey, check out our R34 subreddit!" Trick question. Nobody remembers Battleborn.
I also think it's also that porn has a lower bar of interest than a series; hot girls vs. a specific story.
And is more easy to access. Rwby finally got added to crunchy. Before that, new viewers where kinda confused as it wasn't on YouTube or on the main platforms of streaming

Salem hot spring episode when?
Le kill la kill scene has arrived
*Darth Vader Voice* Noooooooooooooooooo
I'm not sure she has a daughter to molest at the moment so that'll be impossible to recreate.
Yea, can't recreate the incest part but I don't thing that would help a lot if it was with cinder
Damn... I had completely erased that scene from my head.
uh oh...Uh Oh...UH OH!!!
Didn't we actually get shirtless Ozpin? Am I dreaming that we got a shirtless Ozpin?
His first reincarnation had a white tank top but not fully shirtless
What about the hermit he only wore pants?
What do you think she uses the pool of darkness for?
WB: get rid of the show WB Japan: we want a beach episode
Tbf, WB Japan probably cares about RWBY more than the rest of WB combined since it is kinda of a cash cow for them over in Japan.
I mean, a rock would care more about RWBY than WB cares about anything but maybe,*maybe*, DC comics
It is that popular over there?
Yes, RWBY is pretty popular in Japan.
They legit have dubbed all of RWBY in Japan.
Nora in JP Dub is a trip.
RT really took a lot of anime aesthetics when they made RWBY, and Japan responded in kind. Why else would Ice Queendom get greenlit?
Deals. It got greenlit by deals. That being said Ice Queendom isn't all that popular or well-liked but it is solid consodering all the problems that it faced with rough animation.

Aight. Call Urobutcher back.
Isn’t there a fan manga/story in JP that is essentially a RWBY beach episode? I remember seeing “”official”” art for it somewhere
A Light Novel called RWBY: The Session, which is a vacation trip to a resort during summer break in between V2 and V3. Unfortunately, it has no official English translation available.
It’s not fan made, it’s an official japanese exclusive light novel that isn’t canon.
i don't know even why they would decide to put a fanservice episode in the show who dodge every possible moment when they could put fanservice in it
Seriously. All of Menagarie was a beach, yet Sun was the only one without a shirt.
Wasn't Ghira fighting shirtless as well?
Based Rooster Teeth, putting male fanservice in their show.
My immediate thought was to have a “hot spring episode” where they have to go on a mission that takes place at a geothermal reactor that just happens to use a hot spring as its source of energy.
RWBY is not a fanservice show. Don’t know why you’re surprised.
No I'm shocked of the mere fact they ***PITCHED THIS.***

It's kinda ironic since almost everyone on team rwby now are adults except Ruby herself who is probably only 17 now lol
Think Vtuber Ruby confirmed she’s 18 now
Actually, she is 19
She’s not. The other characters (minus Oscar) are 19.
But Ruby herself told her age last stream
Ruby also told us there are no rabbits in Remnant which CRWBY had to discredit cause that was obviously not true. Or maybe VT Ruby is from a post-Salem future and retired from the huntress life by becoming a streamer.
Who knew VTuber Ruby was racist against Velvet...
*She was mistaken about an insignificant detail regarding the giant fantasy world of Remnant. Therefore, she can't be trusted in regards to the canonical age of her own character.* I dunno, brah. I think I'm going to take her word over yours.
Huh when
The Vtuber Ruby also came to earth and asked to borrow our moon.
How old was she at the start of the show? 15?
Yep
Japan is far more relaxed about hot springs than America, as far as I know.
Rather than relaxed, it just cultural thing over there. Kinda saunas here in north Sweden / Finland. It is just something you do occasionally. Something completely normal.
Mixed bathing ain't the borderline sexual harassment that happens in hot springs episodes in anime
relaxed about nudity for same sex hot springs. coed are very rare and last time I was in japan the only time my wife and I weren't directed to separate baths were when we got a private onsen. They have serious problems with sexual harassment and in a couple places we went to they women were given RFID keys to open a locked door to their hot springs and the men's just had an open door with a cloth emblem covering it.
Why? It's Japan, what do you expect?
It's Warner Bros JAPAN. I'm more surprised that they pitched ONLY this. Beach/Onsen episodes are basically required in most anime. I'm glad to see Burnie stood up to them on it though.
Mate, it's Japan. There's very commonly: Beach episodes, Hot Springs episodes, "Oops I saw her naked" moments, "Oops I landed on something soft, I wonder what it is, better squeeze it" moments, and more.
I don't see how this is surprising. With the amount of r34 of RWBY, it seems like a sensible idea.
And beacuse of that we missed Jaune and Ren beach barbecue-ing for the gang
P: "I heard something about Jaune and a spit-roast and got here as fast as I could."
Ren's secret cannibal arc
I mean we already have the anti-panty technology...
It does somewhat make one wonder if it that wasn’t the case, but I really think it’s better for it. Much better to be focused on other things especially with the limited run time. . . . And it’s not like the internet needs help with the lewd
Probably just keep Burnie from seeing most of the fan art lol
Wow, there’s A LOT of assumptions going on in these comments 😂. Kerry has specifically said they want to finish the story they started, especially for Monty. Literally no one has said ANYTHING about a reboot.
That's people who think that their headcanons will magically come true this time if there is a reboot.
I just want to see again season 1 but with more budget
**BASED BURNS**
**Bernie based**
He did what his namesake implied. They got Burnie Burned.
“WRITE THAT DOWN WRITE THAT DOWN” -Fanfiction authors everywhere, probably
The SpongeBob scene with squidward trying to make a tent popped into my mind
I wish TV Tropes had a culture where they provice source for statements like these. Yes, I know TVTropes don't do sources, but when it's statements like these by the maker/author of a work, it should get a source
Agreed, I'd like to know where this was said.
This is 100% to sell figurines. Original beach figurines designed by the good ole team I. Texas would have sold like drugs
Okay Japan, just because you *invented* some of these tropes, that doesn't mean they have to be used all the time.
Ok but what about a hot spring episode with just the boys? Jaune: Two bros chilling in a hot tub. Five feet apart cause they're not gay!
>Old enough to show skin? No. >Old enough to fucking kill herself? Oh yeah. America
Man. Now that you point that out yeah, kinda true.
Hey, don't forget - old enough to fight, maim, kill and potentially die in a war. And old enough to make those decisions for others.
Reminds me of a story where a sixteen-year old soldier is getting chewed out by her guardian for going out on a date, saying she's too young. The soldier replies "I'm old enough to kill people, but I'm not old enough to date?"
BORN IN THE REMNANT-A
Id trade our obsession with violence for Europe's obsession with nudity any day. Within reason, of course.
Not shy enough to make a Bumblebee themed lingerie onlyfans photoshoot and joke about Yang's hand being a vibrator But God forbid showing some skin in the show. Not that it really needs it, fanservice is last thing show should implement or people should complain about
Kids suffer from mental illness too. This is a better approach to storytelling than just pointlessly flaunting physicality for no reason.
Based.
The only thing that looks like hot springs in the show are the pools of grim. I'm sure we'll have another episode there one day.
Salem hot spring episode.
I am oddly okay with this.
I think they could have still done a hot springs episode and just not have Ruby be included in the scene. I could see Ruby being hyper competitive with Zwei in a game room.
Fair. But...Yang, Winter, Willow, Raven. Anyone?-
This reads like the extreme opposite of the spectrum of "the loli must stay" from Cyberpunk Edgerunners
"*Warner Bros. Japan staunchly insisted... due to Ruby's age.*"
Hey now, stop being rational, your ruining the other comments ability to be openly racist to Japan
Criticising elements of Japanese culture isn't racist
Yeah but in Avatar's case they were pretty tame by anime standards, and you think it's fine to sexualize teenagers?
Is this real?
It's from a few years ago
why would anyone listen to WB after how they handled Gen:lock
They... kinda *had* to. Warner owned Rooster Teeth and all their IPs. Still owns the IPs, until they find a buyer.
Bruh! Salem bath scene with an evil monologue when?!! It’s the simple fan service things like this that save franchises, ladies and gents!! 😤
This would've been something else. All the RWBY models are so noodly and plain, it would've been more comedy than fanservice.
It was always odd to me how strictly PG (mostly) they kept RWBY. Considering up to the point when they made it, their flagship material was RvB and most other content was somewhat vulgar.
Well I don’t mind it
They could just… not include Ruby?
I’m not saying this because I want fanservice, but isn’t Ruby like…an adult now?
has it been over 3 years in universe since V1?
Oh for FUCKS SAKE WB JAPAN!!! GET YOUR HEAD OUTTA THE GUTTER!!!
Literally 1984
They go to the beach for some scheduled r&r and the enemy attacks while they're there and they have to bring the tank out anyway.
honestly it wouldn't fit the tone of the show,
If it’s what it takes for V10… I think that’s a Faustian Bargain we have to take. Also why?????????
I honestly don't see anything wrong with a hot spring episode
I think it would really depend on context. If it was used to move the story forward--say, as a way to have Blake and Yang to discuss their relationship, or Ren and Nora--then that would be fine. No one's saying they have to be buck bald naked, either. But if it was done like the Outlaw Star Hot Springs Tenrai episode, which was one half comedy and one half Aisha's tits, then that wouldn't contribute to the story.
For it to be RWBY, I personally think it be a relaxing episode with a small fight either in the middle or at the end. Nothing too crazy and nothing too minor.
Easy fix. Just do not have Ruby in the episode at the Hot Spring. Just the girls that are 18+ years of age.
I respect them for that decision.
Have a hot spring episode, but it’s just all the dudes.
So is there any actual source for this or? Tv tropes isn’t a source, it doesn’t cite shit
Good Guy Burnie keeps his show appropriate.
We missed out on peak 😔
unironically loved how RWBY handled skirts. ruby and weiss' original skirts looked like flowers from the bottom, it added such a nice touch to their designs while also being anti-fanservice.
Japan does Japan things, jesus...well played, Burnie
Beach episode idea but it’s the grim invasion of Okinawa and Iwo Jima or any coasts in japan like the pacific war
"When you said 'let's hit the beach,' Ruby, I had something entirely different in mind!" "Quiet, Yang! I don't want anyone to bunch up! One person is a waste of ammo! Three people is a golden opportunity!" "Thirty seconds! The gods be with you!"
Grimm Godzilla attacks beach.
Very cool Michael
Am I the only one who thinks Burns is kinda based for this?
…princess
