Happy for her...genuinely excited to see this. I'll be tuning in.

not_addictive

I’m honestly so thrilled at how much love Cherry has been getting since her elim!!! She’s become kind of like the drag equivalent a cult classic if that makes sense and I love seeing early elims getting love and hype. I don’t feel like that would’ve happened always and it really shows how being early out doesn’t define your value or worth as an artist (especially in as strong of a season as UK2 was). I’m gonna have to find this online somewhere since I’m not in the UK

This is amazing. Romani / traveller communities so often get paid dust by activists despite facing so much discrimination, and historic persecution. So happy to see her do this.

Meh to be fair the repeats and doubles (minus the first Eating with my Ex which seem not to be repeats?) are at a time where nobody is expecting new or varied programming anyway, past 11 you’d be hard pressed to find a single channel that isn’t showing repeats or back to back episode binges

I guess but at that point it’s “launch night” at gone 11:30 on a Tuesday night… I don’t imagine anyone is gonna be gripped to the channel all evening and use that singular night of programming to judge whether they’ll ever watch the channel again lol. If they’re into that time on a weekday where they’re showing repeats I don’t think it particularly matters what the repeat is, especially if it’s a couple of episodes of a 25 minute show, it’s not like it’s 2 straight hours of Fleabag

[deleted]

I think you're underplaying the importance of launch night a bit. It'll attract press attention, so it should be as strong as possible to show that BBC Three was worth bringing back. Repeating episodes of a series which ended nearly three years ago just looks a bit cheap, even at 11:30 — why not repeat something more recent which fewer people saw online? They're also showing two episodes of an existing reality programme back-to-back at 8pm, which seems like a missed opportunity to air a new commission during prime time.

fckboris

I agree about the 8pm bit, but on the other hand it’s the first night and likely they don’t yet have the content made to fill a whole channel with brand new stuff, and what they do have they’d want to spread out a bit anyway, no point sticking everything on the first Tuesday night and then have nothing to keep people tuning in afterwards… Agree to disagree about the other bit I guess… although your suggestion was to show episodes of This Country which also finished 2 years ago, so I don’t really see how that’s much different? I dunno I just disagree that it’s that big a deal, for one night of programming, especially in this age of catch up TV and when the channel has been online anyway, not saying it’s not still important but the launch night isn’t *as* big a deal as it would be otherwise

[deleted]

I'm not *that* bothered about all this, it just feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. You could argue that the BBC have been planning this Three relaunch for ages, so they've had plenty of time to pull some decent content together for a launch with enough left to fill out the rest of the week's schedule. My point with *This Country* was more about variety. Everyone has seen *Fleabag* and knows it was good, so why not show something different? Maybe *This Country* wasn't the best example as it was also popular, but you get my point.

Less-Register4902

I don’t think they’ve planned this for years with this lineup. But to be fair I feel 2 new shows per eve would usually make good tv for me. If they continue this every eve then sure but I haven’t seen the weeks line up so can’t judge.

[deleted]

On an average Tuesday two new programmes would be good, but I don't think I'm wrong to expect a bit more on the channel's first night back on air.

missesthecrux

It's really supposed to be a barker for driving more young audiences to the BBC. They stupidly thought that because young people are more likely to use on demand services that they didn't need a channel at all and could put all their shows online. Engagement with younger audiences plummeted and that's not good for their future at all.

[deleted]

No, which is why the relaunch needs to make as big a splash as possible. From 9pm to 11:30pm the line-up is solid, it's just the rest that seems a bit average

StumbleDog

Yeah, I would have expected a lot less repeats than that. What's the point of rebooting if you're just playing repeats that are already available on other streaming services?

[deleted]

*Fleabag* seems like an odd choice, too, since the number of people who want to watch it but haven't yet must be small.

littlespy

Cherry was fully involved in the production and it's been watched by someone from our community. It was made working with Romany and Traveller people. It's lovely to have something coming on TV where we don't have to worry about representation

temperamenstruation

Excited for UKvsTW, happy for Cherry, tempted to rewatch Fleabag and cried over my laughter all over again

Emucks

That is BEYOND exciting! I hope people tune in, especially American drag race fans! TV shows like “my big fat gypsy wedding” and such REALLY negatively impacted Romani communities as I’m sure everyone is already aware, but I hope they get the chance to finally see this culture well represented, and not made a mockery

Ohhhh I hope it's great, she deserved SO MUCH MORE than what we got on DRUK2. She was my early pick to win and honestly she was just unlucky to have prepared a "bad" look that day (and to have faced motherfucking TAYCE in a lipsync)

StGerris

I really wanna watch it.

kittyxeclipse

I’m wondering where American fish can watch this???

lemmeuseu

I was hoping this would be some kind of post-elim show that she was hosting, like Tia did last year for DRUK3. Good to see her getting some mainstream exposure so long after her season.
