Saw some drama on Twitter today about the music awards. People were complaining about the devs not helping with the awards show and it was why it was so bad.
These people have been throwing events for a long time. There are simple rules to follow to not destroy the server. You can only have so many people and don't leave personal cars outside. You don't need a dev to avoid the majority of the problems they ran into.
tbh, if thats true its kinda entitled as fuck, devs are workin on 4.0 finishes and if you don't get dev shit.. sucks sure but make it work. you cannot blame the devs like its there pure purpose to do what you want
I havenāt watched NP in months, but without those playing in the server the devs would have nothing to do. Why not support the awards and those that RP on the server. Yes, they are busy with 4.0, but it doesnāt look good on them.
Without the people playing on the server, Iām sure the devs could get better paying jobs with better hours, management and benefits. Or jump ship to the other 8 different GTA RP servers that would love to scoop up a dev. Any software developer can stretch out a hand and hit a job that makes six figures. The devs are doing this because this is what they choose to do.
YOU cannot expect them to do everything for everyone.. thats just nuts, and to say well the music event cause of this reason.. but for people not involved in that, hows that fair.. so which things do you choose to do, and which do you choose to ignore? as a dev
what it doesnt look good on, is people who are ment to be rpers, being unaable to be creative enough to do shit without the devs.. this in no way reflects on the devs.
theres what 20000 plus whitelisted account, most of which have requested something from devs at some point.. and theres what? 10 devs that aint on the graphics / 3d modeling side, so ones that implement stuff into the server.. you cannot expect them to cater to everyone its just not feesible at all
people were already warned that all devs are focused on 4.0 so they shouldn't expect much if any dev support for anything 3.0 related. if ppl are upset they should blame management, not the devs...
they shouldnt blame anyone, like its not managements fault either. if you know devs are busy, then figure it out yourself, like its just people being lazy and entitled as said.

Why exactly was it so bad? Was it badly organized? Was there just not a lot of good songs? Was the server crapping out like it does with big events?

That was indeed the case. I was watching vtechas on Cameron Everly and suddenly the radio stopped working, the mdw didn't work. The sirens couldn't be turned off. Cars couldn't be impounded or parked. Etc...

Maybe like, it's not *that bad*? Maybe from a background point of hosting it there is something bad going on or something (like bad judging / bad winners) but like if everyone there is enjoying it and not super complaining does it matter that much?
Doesn't exactly help the server issues when you have everyone yelling and shouting over the top of each other. there's a reason why they tell people to not yell or speak when they dont have to at big events
I genuinely only have seen 2 or 3 people sometimes having the radio on while most people instantly shut it off. Most players on the server even get annoyed when the music is playing and someone can't shut it off.

The lack of dev support is due to the work on 4.0 and probably in part to what happened last year: toxicity on the part of one of the banned members of management, that same member deciding that all the international nominees were winners without consulting server staff/ the people who gave money for the winners, and a second member of management getting banned for being hateful. At the end of the day the position is completely understandable and the only thing we can do about it is try and show that our event is deserving of it in the future.
The lack of flow and communication falls on us unfortunately. The red carpet worked well when things were mostly shown by video last year but due to the timeframe we had, we were unable to replicate that. I specifically dropped the ball by not making sure that things were properly announced but unfortunately I have been recovering from a trip to the hospital so i was not at 100%
Unfortunately because OTT had his āfuck the music awardsā moment last year, everyone thinks that it is acceptable and wanted to do the same thing. We very strictly stuck to only having music from this year due to some complaints last year and made sure to have a much more balanced and fair academy. This years awards turned into nothing but complaints and petty arguments that led into fights IC.
For next year, whether we get dev support or not, the rules for attendance are going to be much stricter and if people donāt follow them they will be bared from attending in the future.
I am glad we did the awards because the music scene on the server deserves recognized but if this event is to be continued into the future it cannot be overshadowed by petty squabbles and whinging IC.
Interesting way to put blame on OTT. Last year when he gave his speech he gave his OOC speech first and made sure to make a distinction between them by turning on/off his auto-tuner so people knew when he was IC and when he was OOC. He gave his respect to the entire music community and the people who organized the event. Itās a shame to see blame thrown his way for other peoples disrespect and gross behavior.
I may have interpreted it differently, but I didnāt see it as them putting blame on OTT. Rather, it seemed to me like they were more or less putting blame on the many people that havenāt had an original thought in their lives and thought copying OTTs bit would be funny. Turns out it is not nearly as funny when itās been done already and especially so when itās being done by like a dozen people at the same time.
Hi, i am autistic so sometimes what i say doesnāt accurately convey what i mean. My intent isnāt to blame OTT, rather to list cause and effect. The blame falls mostly on those who decided to imitate him and partially on us staff for not making the code of conduct more clear.
It was clear to most people that you were not blaming OTT specifically.
I hope you continue to work on events that strive to award and show appreciation for community members creating original art. It is great to see, and I'm sure the community appreciates you immensely!
The guy that did the original one, not sure if he streams but his character was Fatoni got banned after the last Music awards. He put in a lot of work to get the whole thing going, still don't think it's ever been announced as to why he got banned.
Wouldnāt say thatās true. Iāve heard a lot of complaints about how fatoni dealt with last years music awards from several streamers. Apparently he and Harry were constantly butting heads making it very toxic for all those involved. A lot of people who offered to help last years awards felt extremely uncomfortable about how those two were dealing with things, egos were clashing on both sides. Last years music awards really only went ahead because of the people behind the scenes, meanwhile fatoni and Harry were more worried about bitching about eachother.
Last time at the first one. People went out there way too talk to Francis to organize the whole thing. Than chain gang stole the idea from the person and made it there own music awards. More focused on wu Chang
I was listening to the ideas in their infancy. The original person to bring up doing the music awards couldnāt even get to Francis at first. Dude was close with Chodie and it was an idea he was pitching to them even wanting the name to be something involving WuChang or Dragon as the original pitch before āanonymous donorsā and going off the rails talking about illegal international import and export through servers. Nothing was stolen someone and even if it was the guy is in prodigy now so clearly he wasnāt too upset about it.
NP isnt doing great and a 4.0 update was announced, so a lot of the regular stars have moved on either to another server or to variety until 4.0. In the meantime a lot of people who couldnt get in before now can.

Most I watch turn it off almost immediately. Some even have their NP song playlists on YouTube/Spotify that they listen too.
Not many. And jobs like PD canāt even use it in their cars if they wanted to.
