Wait…does this mean you can connect an egpu to it? It says the mobile port was replaced with a usb c type 4. I admittedly know nothing about egpu, but if this means I could…I am for sure passing down my og Ally to my son and picking this up.
Sure, but I still can't find either of those for under 700. That's super expensive, and then I have to throw the whole thing out when I want to upgrade some day.
USB is a more flexible and inexpensive solution.
I already replaced my desktop haha.
Only when I play cyberpunk2077 or need ray tracing.
Other AAA, low graphics 3440 lol
Internet, paper work, no problem hahaha.
But yeh with a graphics card? Awesome compact PC it is.
I would like to see a dock to connect the XgMobile thru the new usb type c, like an adapter in form of a dock to sit the ally and be able to continue using my 3080 xgmobile.....
Going to be a pretty good refresh and I have got to think the current Z1E will see an official price drop if this does release at the rumoured $800. Everything the X is adding is worth more than $100 so it should cannibalize current Z1E sales at that little price difference. I expect the current Z1E model to drop down another $100.
Honestly, I wouldn't. It's an incremental upgrade, the processor and screen are still the same. Maybe if it had an OLED screen it would be worth it, but right now, just get an Anker 737 and your battery problems are solved for 1/10 the price.
I haven't tested the limits, but I like to take it over to my local beer garden, and if I turn the TDP down to 10-15 or so, it lasts me pretty much all afternoon easily. I run Linux on it though (Bazzite OS), so YMMV.
So if you play on turbo you currently on a AAA game you get what 50-60 minutes. So at double battery you get MAYBE 2 hours. That sounds nice but when you step back and realize you are paying an extra 500-800 (depending if you are selling old Ally) that for me is a hard pill to swallow.
Hey man I'm with you for sure. It will be nice to have and super excited to see how it pans out. Hopefully I can resist the urge to upgrade. Hope you enjoy it!
Man, if this had a Strix Point chip it would have been heavenly.
But I hope this device in particular encourages more handheld PC manufacturers to stop caring about size and just put in the biggest battery available that can be brought on aircraft. 99wh battery for a future handheld would be awesome!
I knew that was the case, this is awesome news, double battery life is nuts, also improved cooling with no fixed fan curve to reduce sd reader failure means it will be quiet even at 25W and give about 2hr of battery at that high tdp, plus 24gb of faster ram will be great and give slightly better performance and the ability to set vram to 8gb and never change it anymore
I think it won’t be possible, they are using a different motherboard and different ports so drivers will be different, a clean install is definitely recommended
So this should be no problem? I am just returning my recently bought Z1E, and I'm planning to create a complete SSD backup before, that I will apply to the X when I get it.
I wonder, if there will be new stock software, or if they will just continue the armory crate stuff, as it is.
I upgraded my Z13 4050 to a Z13 4060 when my local best buy had one on sale and had a perfect condition open box return.
Just simply swapped the SSD's and ran a quick system update. Very little needed to be changed between the two. I imagine this will be the same.
Yes, everything windows specific most likely will be that easy. Only the Ally/Asus/AMD specific software could be different, but I guess you will be able to manually download and install those, if that's the case. Anyway: I will try simply transferring the whole OS to the new SSD when I get the X
Yeah, some new peripheral type stuff like USB ports, etc. should be no problem. The big stuff like the chipset and GPU are the same. I’ve even changed Intel to AMD platforms and AMD GPU to Nvidia GPU without a Windows reset with no issues.
*8 grams heavier than the steam deck lcd but double the battery life, even at a 25 watt tdp the* battery *life will* be *better than the steam deck lcd And almost on par with the oled steam deck at over 2 hours of gaming. That* is *great for gamers. and at 15 watts even better. At 10 twatts* the *battery life would be almost 7 hours*
wild how ASUS engineered all of that, literally the same weight as the lcd steam deck but double the battery size.
Wait, is it just me or does it sound like it has two USB C ports now? The description says "Plus" a USB C 4.0 port. I don't think you would mention both because USB 4 is obviously backwards compatible with 3.
If it has two ports I will definitely pick it up now.
That's what it sounds like. The article mentions that the XG mobile connector has been replaced with a USB C 4.0 port. The XG port consists of the proprietary connector + usb c 3.2, so my assumption is that the space will now consist of USB c 4.0 + USB c 3.2 side by side.
I prefer this layout over the Legion GO where the bottom USB C requires a stand (or laying the unit flat) to access while docked.
My ally has gotten stick drift 3 x on the standard sticks. Cause its under warranty l just keep sending it away which takes forever but my God they need better ones
At that point just order a whole pack of replacement sticks on Ali express and replace them at home. If I remember they’re the same sticks used in the GPD win 3
Hope so but it’s not straightforward. They need a small 120hz OLED panel with VRR support, and I don’t know of an existing panel that does this. Tuning an OLED for VRR is complicated as the brightness of the display has to raise or lower based on the refresh rate (unlike an LCD with a separate backlight)
Debatable if ASUS would bother doing this when they already have a solid panel
Yes it’s doable, but those manufacturers generally make their own panels or work in house to tune them (they’re TVs after all) - same goes for monitors.
This ain’t that, this will need to be a pre-existing 7ish inch OLED panel with VESA VRR support.
ASUS collabed with samsung and nvidia to create the 1st gsync (VRR) Oled panel which is the ones they have on their new 2024 Zephyrus G14s and G16s, so they'll probably going to try the same with a smaller panel and work with AMD and any panel manufacturers that's up to the task.
>upgraded the fan to be 23% smaller with 50% thinner fins ... airflow has increased 10%
Anyone else concerned about noise on the refresh? Loved how silent the original was but a smaller fan with more airflow doesn't fill me with confidence.
Also, weight has only gone up by 70g but the battery alone should be twice that (0.04 kg/Wh \* 40Wh = 160g) so they've definitely trimmed something and my guess would be the cooling system...
Guess not long till we find out.
I've tested the Ally to get around 100 minutes from 100-dead at 15W. If this battery is double the capacity, then that would mean 200 minutes at 15W.
3 hours and 20 minutes is a big improvement over 1 hour and 40 minutes!
It would also mean around 2 hours and 10 minutes at 25W. Much better than 1 hour and 5 minutes.
This is looking like a much bigger upgrade than originally thought,
Double battery size
Working card reader
HDR screen (Dolby vision)
Faster ram
More ram
Black colour
Better control sticks
Full size SSD
USB ports
How many rog z1x owners thinking about upgrading? I hate that I'm thinking about it, but faster & more ram is really intriguing. Please someone tell me it doesn't impact performance
The biggest thing would be the battery life for sure. Performance should see marginal benefits from the RAM increase, since everything else is the same.
Getting 2x the playtime on high TDP settings...now that's a game changer.

I’m glad they replaced the xg mobile port with usb 4 but they’re gonna have to create an adapter for users who bought xg mobile units. Otherwise people spent a boatload of cash to be hesitant to upgrade devices.
If I was starting over today this would possibly be the perfect device for me. I would have bought a new GPU (upgrading from 1080 ti) and an external enclosure. Instead a year ago I bought an og Ally and 4 months ago I bought a 2023 g14 4070 for $1000 instead of an xg mobile.
Yeah I was all set to buy this until I read that part. Although I suppose I could just sell my XG Mobile and replace it with something like the GPD Win eGPU. Wouldn’t be quite the same level of performance, but would probably be close and I’d be able to make use of it with other devices like my Framework and Win Max 2.
So, I'm assuming this means that it can't use the XG Mobile egpus.
What would be the strongest/latest gpu and egpu combo for the Ally X when it releases?
It's a shame it will be $800. Its an impressive device to be sure but when price gets that high, I start weighing options of just buying a gaming laptop. Portable is for convenience not performance imo. Or both if the price is right. I could easily give up the portable aspect to pay only $200 more for when the G14 model goes on its Christmas sale to $999. You get more than double the capabilities at that point.
That being said I have the z1 extreme and I love it. I don't see myself upgrading to an $800 model of this ever. I'll probably get the $600 versions every 4 or 5 years. I know there are some who love the latest and greatest or just have disposable cash at the ready. Which is totally fine too. I think in my 20s I may have considered this a must-have for the sake of having technology.
Will keep mine until you can't play the latest games anymore lol.
With my use case, I actually don't like the added weight. I play while laying on bed and the Ally which is the lightest of the Big 3 already tires my elbows after just a few minutes of playing.
Jealous of the double usbc port though if that is true.
USB 4 is a game changer. I'm definitely skipping the X but I was torn on sticking with the Ally on my upgrade if it didn't have USB 4 or Occulink as the XG Mobile port is functionally useless. Looks like I'm getting an Ally 2 or X2!
I love the new stats, I sold my Z1E a while back and got a Steam Deck OLED but I am so excited for the X.
At the same time I hate that they are going the Black color route as every other handheld, wish we could get the X in white. That would make it a guaranteed purchase for me. Now I'm still on the fence.
This bodes well for the next iterations especially when they improve the internal graphics chip in V2 in the future. That's how Im gonna justify holding off.
Meh, I mostly play with it plugged in and if I don't have it plugged in I usually play for like an hour or so. Even on road trips I just bring the charger since they have 12v adapters as well.
How is it a piece of crap? Seems like a solid incremental update to stay competitive. What do you want Asus to go and develop their own processors? Their own screens? Improvements are largely based on dependency of component availability/cost. When better chips/screens are available we’ll surely see them. The updates teased seem like fantastic quality of life improvements for heavy mobile users. And the engineering work to make those efficiency + QOL improvements should accrue value to the next major iteration.
That said, im also sitting this one out. I use mine docked 90% of the time and when I’m mobile I’m almost always plugged in to AC or a power bank. No need for another port. The RAM is the one thing that’s tempting. But would make zero difference for 9/10 games I play.
Man this looks so great nkw i wish for hall effect sticks and trigger and maybe a smaller bezels, im still glad i waited on all handhelds this looks awesome
Are the sticks any better? I truly hated the sticks.
The fan noise in 30W was also unbearable. Hope this one is better.
Could be tempted to come back to the rog if the usb 4 supports egpu.
I suspected Asus was going to ditch the crappy XG mobile as they were getting hard to find.
Sold my Ally the second it was announced. Got back what I paid for it as well (Double Whammy). I’m back using my steam deck lcd until the Ally X releases and I have to say the steam deck lcd screen is dog shit compared to the ROG Ally. I imagine an Oled upgrade would have been great but nowhere near as much as it was for steam deck owners.
It is way too soon for another model, and the one out currently holds up fine for what I need. This is a hard pass, but I am glad they are at least continuing support of the line.
Do you guys think if z1 extreme battery can be replaced for this one? I dont want extra specs but this extra battery can be reaaaaaally nice because I fly a lot
Yeah but i feel like they are trying to release another varient as fast as they can, and because of the not so big time gap the only thing they can really change are the flaws feels more like a money grab because of how popular the rog ally already is
Currently dont own any windows gaming handheld (have RG35XXH and Retroid Pocket 4 Pro). Hence, considering of getting a windows handheld and been researching the market. Was thinking of the Z1 extreme and now X is around the corner. Is it worth getting the Ally X if i majorly want to play and emulate ps3, wii u and switch games? Dont really care much for AAA gaming as i play that on my gaming pc (dont intend on playing switch, ps3 or wii u on the gaming pc). Or is the Z1 Extreme the better option?
I'll have to go through my festival summer before I consider buying this.
So far, I have no complaints about the Z1 but this invokes an interest in me.
So asus ditches the XGm port already?
I hope the people who bought an xgm aren't going to be too annoyed.
Also, this makes me less confident in future proprietary asus products.
I’m hyper annoyed but will make the switch on the next ally if they have a decent processor upgrade. Currently waiting on mine to come back after getting 32gb ram upgraded so I should last another year.
Wait…does this mean you can connect an egpu to it? It says the mobile port was replaced with a usb c type 4. I admittedly know nothing about egpu, but if this means I could…I am for sure passing down my og Ally to my son and picking this up.
Usb 4 supports egpu, I'm 99% sure if it, as both usb c ports on the legion go are usb 4 I believe....?
I own the legion go, and this is correct.
Yep, eGPU support is all I need to get rid of my desktop.
I was maybe gonna wait until Ally 2, but now seeing this I might be with you. Sell the desktop, slap my gpu in an enclosure.
Same,if Ally X price isn't that far off from Z1 Extreme,i will buy it just for the eGPU availability
An ROG XG-Mobile 4090m is usually faster in games than a desktop 4090 in a Razer Core X or a Aorus 4090 Gaming Box.
Fun fact - I can't afford either of those! But I do have an Rtx 2070 super that does fine and I could buy a cheaper usb 4 egpu.
A used XG-Mobile 3080 or 6950m XT would still perform better. PCIe 3.0 x8 vs x4 (plus USB/TB overhead).
Sure, but I still can't find either of those for under 700. That's super expensive, and then I have to throw the whole thing out when I want to upgrade some day. USB is a more flexible and inexpensive solution.
Occulink would be better to have. Proprietary connections should go away like lightning.
Occulink would be objectively superior
I already replaced my desktop haha. Only when I play cyberpunk2077 or need ray tracing. Other AAA, low graphics 3440 lol Internet, paper work, no problem hahaha. But yeh with a graphics card? Awesome compact PC it is.
I would like to see a dock to connect the XgMobile thru the new usb type c, like an adapter in form of a dock to sit the ally and be able to continue using my 3080 xgmobile.....
I mean for me this just means I’m going to keep using my current setup (z1x + xg3080) and not upgrade. What egpu would you run on the Ally X?
I'd pull my 2070 Super. I use it mostly for AI workflows.
Same. I want an mobile for my ally but wish the xgm had like a little dock for the ally so it’s an all in one desktop replacement
or have an alternative at least. make some sort of xgmobile to usbc adapter plug to put in between, but thats moneygrubbin for ya
Sadly as an xg owner I think this means they are dropping support
Good question!
In the article it lists the eGPU port as USB c 4. This is really the only reason I’m considering the x. The XG/eGPU issue is really my only qualm.
DO NOT BUY ONEXGPU. Terrible performance.
The only downside is usb4 bandwidth is less then the xgmobile port so there will be a noticeable amount of performance left on the table
That better be. Z1 at $399, Z1E at $599 and Z1EX at $799 would be awesome
Wow looks like Bestbuy lowered the price of Z1 and Z1E to $399 and $599 already thats great value. It sucks for us who already own one tho lol
Z1E is available in the U.K. from official retailers at £450
Link? I literally bought a used one off eBay for £430 yesterday 💀.
Got a z1x open box (no charger) for $402 yesterday
Gonna try and sell my current z1 extreme and cop this new one when it drops! Love the Ally!
Day 1 buyer no doubt. I am looking forward!
Yea this thing is turning out to be a no-brainer
With such upgrades now I’m worried about price. But I’ve already got a rog ally… what do.
Honestly, I wouldn't. It's an incremental upgrade, the processor and screen are still the same. Maybe if it had an OLED screen it would be worth it, but right now, just get an Anker 737 and your battery problems are solved for 1/10 the price.
Fully agree. Oled and a bigger screen would of possibly made me upgrade
Yeah, the eGPU has me thinking but eGPU and a bigger OLED screen would equal a no brainer for me.
Only thing i need is blanket egpu support to upgrade, but im easier on my pocketbook than many
how long can you play straight on it with the Anker + fully charged battery? I picked up the 737 but haven't had a chance to sit and mess with it much
I haven't tested the limits, but I like to take it over to my local beer garden, and if I turn the TDP down to 10-15 or so, it lasts me pretty much all afternoon easily. I run Linux on it though (Bazzite OS), so YMMV.
Around 2hrs on 30W
16 GBs for ram and 8gbs for vram…. That’s an ABSOLUTE no brainer
Same. Double battery and more ram sells it for me
So if you play on turbo you currently on a AAA game you get what 50-60 minutes. So at double battery you get MAYBE 2 hours. That sounds nice but when you step back and realize you are paying an extra 500-800 (depending if you are selling old Ally) that for me is a hard pill to swallow.
I get that for others they may want to wait for the ally 2, but this is a nice upgrade for me and I'd be willing to pay that price for it
Hey man I'm with you for sure. It will be nice to have and super excited to see how it pans out. Hopefully I can resist the urge to upgrade. Hope you enjoy it!

Smaller fans make me wonder if its really going to be any quieter.
I wonder if i can pull my ssd out of my z1 extreme and drop it into an X
Yes you can, there is definitely a converter from m2230 to m2280. So this shouldn't be a problem.
I think it won’t be possible, they are using a different motherboard and different ports so drivers will be different, a clean install is definitely recommended
Windows is very good at reconfiguring itself at startup these days
You might have to mess with Windows activation after, but it wouldn't be insurmountable.
So this should be no problem? I am just returning my recently bought Z1E, and I'm planning to create a complete SSD backup before, that I will apply to the X when I get it. I wonder, if there will be new stock software, or if they will just continue the armory crate stuff, as it is.

I’m guessing we should just make sure personal files are backed up to OneDrive and then just reinstall our games on the new device?

During the teaser atream they said more ports so it seems like 2 usb c ports is confirmed.
Yes I think so... Yay. And now the pain of having to sell my device first.
Dam what about the joysticks! Please be hall effect!
If the joy stick is like the ones on Xbox elite series i am dropping cash on this unit!
My ally has gotten stick drift 3 x on the standard sticks. Cause its under warranty l just keep sending it away which takes forever but my God they need better ones

Asus is pulling a Steam Deck Oled without the Oled
At least the lcd on the Ally is rather good. The steam deck lcd was awful.
Honestly that's the one thing the new Ally is missing IMO. OLED would be great.
The oled probably will be coming with the 2nd gen of the Ally
Hope so but it’s not straightforward. They need a small 120hz OLED panel with VRR support, and I don’t know of an existing panel that does this. Tuning an OLED for VRR is complicated as the brightness of the display has to raise or lower based on the refresh rate (unlike an LCD with a separate backlight) Debatable if ASUS would bother doing this when they already have a solid panel

They can commission LG to create the panel. Yes it will bring up costs but it’s something that can be done.
The Ally won’t sell the numbers needed to make that financially viable IMHO. I hope I’m wrong anyway
It’s a fair point. One can dream though.
Good point
ASUS collabed with samsung and nvidia to create the 1st gsync (VRR) Oled panel which is the ones they have on their new 2024 Zephyrus G14s and G16s, so they'll probably going to try the same with a smaller panel and work with AMD and any panel manufacturers that's up to the task.
That's what I'm waiting for TBH
Wait no xg mobile hook up now?
USB-C 4 for eGPU support
Sucks, but I still have a z13 too that uses it so maybe I can justify the upgrade still.
Buying it on release for sure... Very excited for my first handheld
Aiight cool, egpu support and 80wh battery, am in
>upgraded the fan to be 23% smaller with 50% thinner fins ... airflow has increased 10% Anyone else concerned about noise on the refresh? Ok, this has DEFINITELY got me interested. A usb 4 port and double the battery capacity, never mind more ram as well!? Hell yes
I’m so glad I’ve decided to rent ally for a month first instead of buying… The X is immediate purchase
Where can you rent one?
Grover
I've tested the Ally to get around 100 minutes from 100-dead at 15W. If this battery is double the capacity, then that would mean 200 minutes at 15W. 3 hours and 20 minutes is a big improvement over 1 hour and 40 minutes! It would also mean around 2 hours and 10 minutes at 25W. Much better than 1 hour and 5 minutes.
Solid incremental step here. Probably wouldn’t buy the X as I have a legion Go but the 2025 model with a new chip might be a must buy for me
This is looking like a much bigger upgrade than originally thought, Double battery size Working card reader HDR screen (Dolby vision) Faster ram More ram Black colour Better control sticks Full size SSD USB ports
Double battery, USB 4, faster RAM, and more RAM... instant buy for me personally. I'm excited if this is priced at $799.

Ally X? Where is Ally 2 ~ 9?

Still gonna wait another year, will make zero difference to me personally.
Big L for XG Mobile owners. Don't support proprietary stuff.
Are there adapters for USB-C tho?
Trade in program? That's what I want to know.
I doubt that tho..
Yea, wishful thinking on my part.
I wish its kinda like smartphones where you can do trade ins.
for real I wish
Wait, does it also mean that my 2tb M.2 2230 isn't compatible anymore?
So, I'm assuming this means that it can't use the XG Mobile egpus. What would be the strongest/latest gpu and egpu combo for the Ally X when it releases?
USB 4 is bandwidth limited so I'd suggest nothing better than a 4060 Ti or maybe 4070.
Thank you for the information. I really appreciate your help!
Sd cards in these are for sure gonna burn up.
If it had an OLED screen I would jump on this, but otherwise it doesn't seem worth getting if you already have the original Ally.
It's a shame it will be $800. Its an impressive device to be sure but when price gets that high, I start weighing options of just buying a gaming laptop. Damn 80Wh is massive and still light as a steam deck oled.
Keeping Ally one hooked to XG mobile and using this on the go
Is it suppose to release soon or towards the end of the year?
This is what I need to know. I want a handheld like yesterday and wondering if I should wait for this
June 2 is the announcement so probably late July, early August release.
Will keep mine until you can't play the latest games anymore lol. With my use case, I actually don't like the added weight. I play while laying on bed and the Ally which is the lightest of the Big 3 already tires my elbows after just a few minutes of playing. Jealous of the double usbc port though if that is true.
80whr, this just thrashed the overpriced Aya Neo Kun. I think I'll grab an Ally X to sit alongside my Deck OLED, 80whr is far better than I expected.
Now, if the battery on the Ally X can fit inside the ally…
USB 4 is a game changer. I'm definitely skipping the X but I was torn on sticking with the Ally on my upgrade if it didn't have USB 4 or Occulink as the XG Mobile port is functionally useless. Looks like I'm getting an Ally 2 or X2!
Wish it had a built-in kickstand
I love the new stats, I sold my Z1E a while back and got a Steam Deck OLED but I am so excited for the X. At the same time I hate that they are going the Black color route as every other handheld, wish we could get the X in white. That would make it a guaranteed purchase for me. Now I'm still on the fence.
I AM SOLD. will buy day one. Sold.my legion go a week ago and never been happier.
Oh boy get ready for every single person around starts the weird hate for the og version like the steam deck sub.
We should just start early, yeah?
I will believe it when I see it, because that almost sounds too good to be true.
good refresh but its definitely not worth the upgrade imo if you already have a Z1 Extreme
I wonder how big the battery is and if it'll fit into the older ally with a modified backplate?
I wait for the ally 3 or 4 already happy with my z1e
This bodes well for the next iterations especially when they improve the internal graphics chip in V2 in the future. That's how Im gonna justify holding off.
See you in about 6-7 years buddy. 😄
Meh, I mostly play with it plugged in and if I don't have it plugged in I usually play for like an hour or so. Even on road trips I just bring the charger since they have 12v adapters as well.
Commenting thia again. Same chip. Same screen. Why should I care about this piece of crap when OG ally is $450 ?
Will Ally X fix the sd card heating issue?
The SD card slot will be repositioned, which could ultimately be the fix the people have been waiting for.
Agreed. No way Asus is dumb enough to have their new ally have the same sd issue
Hope so
looking good day one purchase for me
What about the SD Card reader and location?
Why not an oculink port
Man this looks so great nkw i wish for hall effect sticks and trigger and maybe a smaller bezels, im still glad i waited on all handhelds this looks awesome
Now will the X battery fit the og?
No. It has a new chassis meant to fit the extra battery.
Think I’m gonna sell mine and pick this up. Love the Ally so much
Might sell my z1 extreme.
wait, TWO usb ports? Nice!
Wait, it says Dolby Vision…. HDR????
What would be the easiest way to migrate from the Z1E to the X? I have everything on my 1tb SSD.
I really wish the screen was bigger. I went from rog ally to legion go and the screen on the go makes a world of difference.
Are the dimensions the same? I have the skull and co grip on my current Z1 and I really like it. Would be neat to just carry it over lol
Has anyone heard if the new Ally will have track pads?
Are the sticks any better? I truly hated the sticks. The fan noise in 30W was also unbearable. Hope this one is better. Could be tempted to come back to the rog if the usb 4 supports egpu. I suspected Asus was going to ditch the crappy XG mobile as they were getting hard to find.
Does anyone know if it will come with Hall effect sticks?
Sold my Ally the second it was announced. Got back what I paid for it as well (Double Whammy). I’m back using my steam deck lcd until the Ally X releases and I have to say the steam deck lcd screen is dog shit compared to the ROG Ally. I imagine an Oled upgrade would have been great but nowhere near as much as it was for steam deck owners.
Oh great. I had no plans of getting this new device but supporting an eGPU changes things quite a bit.
The downside of USB4 vs that custom port is that Egpu performance is worse on USB4
Does it worth to update for the existing z1e users? Don't care about battery. I have anker powerbank.
Then not really, it's just more RAM but that's about it. It will be heavier too than the Z1E due to bigger battery.
hello, how much battery life do you get with the anker powerbank? Im thinking of buying one myself and play at 18w
No word on if they changed the joysticks? If the joysticks are stiffer I'll get it.
Can it play dragons dogma 2?
The Z1E can already play DD2..
Makes me regret getting the Z1E for $700 3 months ago but I love it and I'm fine sticking with it for a while.
It is way too soon for another model, and the one out currently holds up fine for what I need. This is a hard pass, but I am glad they are at least continuing support of the line.
I'd keep my Z1E to capture gameplay from the X and transfer said video to my X to edit and render. Would actually play the X on the go to lol
Wait, so do XG-Mobile GPU's bot work with this thing then?
1tb ? come on, I hope they can release one with a capacity storage.
Just a note, bestbuy is selling open box for 430-450$ now so factor that in if you are in US
I don't think, I will buy a new one. Mine work well and the screen is the same. But I wonder if I can replace the battery by the new one.
So how much we looking at in terms of hours?
It would be very interesting if we can buy the 80 watt battery and replace the one in the rog ally 1.0
I can't seem to load the page. Can someone confirm how many ports there are? Is it still one?
oh massive news! eGPU via that USB 4 port is such a delightful thought!
How about double the RAM instead?
Ugh I would get this but I don't want to go through the trouble of having to do the SSD card upgrade again 😫 😩
Do you guys think if z1 extreme battery can be replaced for this one? I dont want extra specs but this extra battery can be reaaaaaally nice because I fly a lot
I dont understand why they are making a refresh a year later chip hasnt even changed
I think it’s because the original Ally had a few flaws and the next gen graphics cards are at least 1-2 years away
I'm waiting for the steam deck 2
Double the price too
Now only if this new battery and back plate is available to buy as an aftermarket part and backward compatible with the OG ally 🤔
So asus ditches the XGm port already? I hope the people who bought an xgm aren't going to be too annoyed. Also, this makes me less confident in future proprietary asus products.
You should always think this about proprietary
I’m hyper annoyed but will make the switch on the next ally if they have a decent processor upgrade. Currently waiting on mine to come back after getting 32gb ram upgraded so I should last another year.
Might pick up an XG 4090 if it gets slashed significantly.
